Unable to eject DVD after Win7 upgrade on Satellite L series

I have finished the windows 7 upgrade.
Everything went smoothly except thta at the end I was unable to eject the windows 7 upgrade DVD.
Using the push button on it, or right click on the lector then eject, nothing happens.
Should I look for drivers and where?

Hi
You dont need any drivers for that
If the CD/DVD drive is connected properly then you should be able to eject the disk without any big troubles maybe something clams somewhere
There is a tiny hole near the eject button use an small object like staple or something like that and put it carefully into this small hole. This should help to eject the disk.

  • Mac OS X 10.5: Unable to log in after an upgrade install fix does not work?

    Hello:
After running Software Update, I am unable to log in.
I found the following support article:
Mac OS X 10.5: Unable to log in after an upgrade install
    Article: TS1543
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1543?viewlocale=en_US
However, upon step 8 of the instructions, the following error appears:
    delete Invalid Path
    <dscl_cmd> DS Error: -14009 (eUnknownNodeName)
This is actually after an update (not an "upgrade"), so I'm not even sure these are the appropriate steps.
This is the second time that I have been unable to log in after an update. The first time, I attempted to reset the password with the installation DVD; however, this resulted in "No LDAP Master" errors and I installed Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard Server on a second internal drive and configured everything again. After setting everything up on the second install, I was going to reformat the first boot drive. Unfortunately, I'm just back to where I started after running the updates. I'm not sure if having two volumes with Mac OS X Server installed makes a difference in the instructions in the article mentioned above or not.
Another question: Is resetting the password with the installer DVD the same as using the Single User approach ("launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.DirectoryServices.plist", "ls /Users", then "dscl . -delete /Users/username AuthenticationAuthority")?
If so, I'll just do that; however, I am hoping that the Single User approach might somehow avoid "No LDAP Master" errors again.
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

  • Catch 22 after Win7 upgrade from Vista (no way to install Boot Camp)

I've seen other posts about this but no answers, so I'll keep this
I had Vista Home Premium running in a Boot Camp partition on my black MB 2.0GHz with Snow Leopard, although I only used Fusion and not Boot Camp for Windows. (The Boot Camp partition dated back to the program's beta, which I ran on Tiger. I skipped Leopard.) I replaced the hard drive with a larger model -- thank you CCC and WinClone --, upgraded to Win7 Home Premium and thought I'd try getting Boot Camp running.
The Snow Leopard install DVD has a Boot Camp 3.0 installer that refuses to run on Win 7. (The error message that I get is, "Boot Camp requires that your computer is running Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Windows Vista.") And the Boot Camp 3.1 Updater is, well, an updater that wants to see Boot Camp 3.0. Doesn't seem to be any way forward!
I've seen it recommended to try a Boot Camp 2.1 installer (seems like a long shot, but has anyone tried it?) or to run the Boot Camp 3.0 installer in Vista compatibility mode (reported not to work).
It doesn't feel worth it to re-image the MacBook's Boot Camp partition to Vista using my WinClone backup, then install Boot Camp 3.0, then do the Win 7 upgrade again, and then run the Boot Camp 3.1 updater. Not when Fusion is so good. It took me several iterations of the restore-and-upgrade business with Boot Camp Assistant and WinClone to get to this point and I'm not eager to repeat it. It's not hard, just tedious. It does seem likely that that upgrade path would work, however. Practic makes perfect.
    Thoughts?

And just one more thing... I'm remembering now that when I started up the Win7 install, I got a warning that Boot Camp wouldn't work after the upgrade. I don't know which version that would have been. I went ahead with the upgrade anyway. Knowing now how that worked out, I can see that I probably zigged where I should have zagged. But I remember thinking at the time that my options were to cancel the upgrade, uninstall Boot Camp and then try the upgrade again. It didn't occur to me to upgrade to the 3.1 version of Boot Camp because I thought that was the Win7 compatible version, and I was still on Vista at that point.
Maybe all this verbiage will help someone else avoid this situation!

  • Old recovery content after Win7 Upgrade

    Hi all.
I got a L500 13T before Windows 7, so I had Vista home premium. After Win7 released I got Win7 Professional, with clean install.
As I was downloading the Toshiba software after the installation, I noticed Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator was not available.
Here comes my question, What should I do with the huge folder in D: named HDDRecovery? Also, a non-microsoft defrag software shows that I have a partition called WinRE, which seems like another probable waste of space. Seems like I wont have a recovery tool provided by Toshiba with win7 but I hope I can make some extra space on my hdd.

I noticed Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator was not available.
That's correct. Toshiba does not supply any way to recovery after you clean install another version of Windows.
You don't need any of the rest of that stuff. You can boot into Windows 7 Recovery Environment directly from the installation DVD.
Before you remove other partitions, check that the boot files Bootmgr and Boot\BCD are in the root. Also, run the Disk Management snap-in (diskmgmt.msc) and make sure that your partition is the one marked Active.

  • Unable to eject DVD from drive - tried all troubleshooting suggestions

Tried ejecting DVD using eject button on keyboard, using disk utilities, restarting computer and holding down mouse. Nothing seems to work. Any other suggestions for getting a DVD out that was inserted backwards and is not being read by drive?
    Thanks!

Did you solve this problem? I seem to be in the same perdicament. My DVD-drive has vanished completely from the OS after I inserted a seemingly harmless dvd. And now none of the usual tips work.

  • Pavilion dv31075us laptop unable to eject DVD

I need help getting a DVD out of my CD/DVD drive. My laptop does not have a manual eject button. CD/DVDs are ejected by right-clicking the drive in "my computer." However, "my computer" does not recognize this Windows upgrade DVD. So, it looks like I have no way of ejecting this.
Does anyone know any tricks or loop-holes? I'd love to not have to have my laptop taken apart to eject a disk!
    Thanks!

dv3-1000 Series with Slot-load optical drives, should have Eject Button as a part of the Quick Launch Buttons..If that has not worked....Than try the below...
Power on the system, Tap the ESC key, that will take you to the Startup Menu... Over there try and use the Quick Launch Eject Button and check if it eject the disk, if not, That press the F9, that will take you to, Boot Manager, check if the optical drive is listed there...

If that's the case, what did the carrier tells you when you ask them?

  • Canon Wi-Fi Printer Unable to find SSID after OS upgraded

I am using Canon MG4100 series printer. After I upgraded my iMac OS X 10.9 and also upgraded the firmware of my Time Capsule, my printer is no longer able to find the SSID. While all other devices have no issue except the Canon printer. Anyone can help?

Make sure the wireless names.. and TC name is smb compatible.
    Short.. 2-20 characters
    No spaces
    Pure alphanumeric.
The standard apple names are invalid in most OS.
Even apple manipulate the network names..
Turn off security and fix the wireless to 11, 6, 1 in that order.. just as a test. If all of them fail,
Then I recommend you buy a cheap TP-Link, edimax etc wireless router and use it as a WAP.. plugged into the TC.

  • Validity sensor/digital persona not working after win7 upgrade on dv3 2050ea

    Hi,
I have recently clean installed windows 7 after Vista onto a dv3 2050ea laptop. I used the HP downloads page to get all the new drivers for win7 including the validity sensor and digital persona package. Win 7 does not find a biometric sensor and I can't see where to launch digital persona from . What can I do ?
    thanks
    Alan

I just fixed this problem with my HDX 18,,,,,,I will walk you through the process that fixed my FP reader.
I upgraded from VISTA to WIN7, that was where the problem occured.
My PC DL'd the the updated Digital Persona Identity Protection Suite (DPIPS) program for WIN7 from the HP site.
There is a known incompatibility with this update from HP and WIN7.
The Validity Sensor Driver that detects the FP reader is the same for VISTA and WIN7 in my PC (check this first / update IF necessary).
    NEXT
    I went through the: START>Control Panel>Programs and Features>Digital Persona>Uninstall.
    Shut down and restart 2X.
I went back to the HP site and DL'd the DPIPS program for VISTA.
    RUN > DPIPS program.
UPDATE from the DPIPS Program (Version 4.11.3826) bypassing the the update from HP.
    Hope this works for you.

  • Presario CQ60 On-board microphone problem after Win7 upgrade

I upgraded my new Presario CQ60-409SA with the HP supplied Win7 DVD. Since then my on-board microphone has stopped receiving input. Plugging an in-line mic into the front jack works fine, but absolutely no response from the on-board one. I have checked that the mic is not muted. Dale in HP support centre suggested I uninstall the drivers and restart. This unfortunately did not work. Can anyone help? I am using the latest drivers from the HP site (SP-45166). Many thanks.

I'd REALLY love some help with this one. Is anyone from HP able to assist? Has anyone else had the same problem? The mic was fine in Vista, but the system just doesn't seem to pick up that it's there in Win7. External works fine. Any ideas????

  • Unable to eject DVD

    Tried RESTART.
    No ICON on Desk Top

If the drive does not eject discs using the F12 or eject key on the keyboard.
If the disc will not eject try dragging the disc icon to the trash.
If the disc will still not eject, holding down the trackpad or mouse button after restarting the computer should also eject a disc.
If the disc continues not to eject, reset the Power Manager (PMU) or System Management Controller (SMC) and try steps 1-4 again.

  • Several tools/utilities don't work after Win7 upgrade

    Hello,
I am working with a Tecra A9 PTS52E laptop which had WinXP running on it.
I recently upgraded to Win7, but not from a Toshiba install disk.
    I found a number (not all) drivers for tecra a9/win7 online;
but some things still don't seem to be working correctly.
first of all, I installed the Value Added Package 20100419152838,
but OSD and the Toshiba power manager don't work. Instead win7 keeps telling me my battery is broken (?) Is there a way this can be fixed?
I also had trouble finding Toshiba Disk Creator, and I couldn't make Toshiba Security Assist work properly...
    Thanks,

Toshiba Power Saver is not the same application as you know it from the past. It has now limited options and Toshiba power saver options you can find in advanced power settings for power plan you use.
It cannot be installed as single utility. It is part of Toshiba Value Added Package.
This with battery confuses me completely.
    Is battery detected by OS?
    Can battery be loaded properly?
Can you run notebook on battery power supply?
This with composite battery entry is normal and the same is listed in device manager at my notebook. How many entries do you have in device manager for Batteries?

  • T61 key not working after win7 upgrade

Hi I upgraded my thinkpad T61´s windows from XP to 7(64bits) but one of my key from keyboard stopped to work.
I installed all the drivers and ThinkVantage System Update, but it didn´t work.
My keyboard layout is Portuguese-BR(ABNT) and the problem is with "/" key.
Are there any software to test the key board? Maybe any mapping problem?
    Thanks in advance!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi, edbrmm
I would recommend navigating to Control Panel ► Device Manager and opening the tree for Keyboards. Right-click on the keyboard and select Scan for hardware changes. This should scan the keyboard and let you know if anything is wrong with the device, as far as the computer is aware. Try this scan and see if any results are found.
    Best,
    Adam
