Unable to Eject Garmin GPS from MacBook

After connecting my Garmin GPS 62SC to my MacBook to acquire updates on-line, I am unable to eject because the camera within the GPS is re-recognized by the MacBook as soon as it is ejected.

What about changing the way iPhoto sees the GPS? Do this in iPhoto Preferences / General.
The options for "Connecting camera opens:" include No application.
The downside is that if you do connect a regular camera you will have to do some work.

  • Cannot eject external devices from Macbook Air.

For the past few months I have been unable to eject external drives, and volumes from my Air. I click on the eject (pyramid) icon, and nothing happens 100% of the time. I need to go to disk utility to be able to eject. Rather annoying.
Does anyone have a suggestion, and hopefully something less drastic than a complete os reinstall?

Hi, an example if this behaviour for me is when iTunes is running and playing music from my NAS, it will not allow ejection of that share. This might be the same with cable-connected external drives. Try making sure that any app that uses files on the drive is shut down and then retry the eject from Finder.

I'm unable to eject a cd.  Any suggestions on how to get it out?

Try, - dragging cd into trash (trash can will turn into eject button), ejecting from finder, right clicking and selecting eject. If these fail, then try restarting your mac!

  • Unable sign into my icloud from macbook system preferences

    Hi,
This is my first post here. I searched for a few days and saw that this problem is not new and a few people have reported this and had gotten it solved.
So again, the problem is, I am not able to login to icloud from the system preferences. I am able to sign in to the web icloud.com alright.
It also works well on my iphone and ipad. The problem is only with the mac after Yosemite upgrade. It started because I found that new contacts that I added on the macbook contacts were not synced on my iphone. So I decided to logout and login again..but haven't been able to login since then.
    So far I have tried
    1. deleting and resetting keychains,
    2. removing the applications folder in Library/Application support/icloud/applications,
    3. tried logging out from other iOS devices and only from mac,
    4. creating a new test user,
    5. changing the apple id password.
..and none of this worked. So if anybody has any more suggestions, I would be glad to try it out.
    Thanks,
      SS

Solved my own problem. My iMac was waiting for acceptance of iCloud Terms & Conditions.

  • Help ejecting a CD from MacBook Pro

    Hi
I put an audio CD into the drive. The CD never shows up in iTunes, the Finder, etc. As far as the software is concerned, I don't have a CD in the laptop. However, there is most definitely a CD in there. Pressing/holding the Eject button does nothing. I don't have a "pinhole" to force an eject. How can I eject this CD? I tried rebooting and the CD still doesn't show up anywhere.
I have Toast Titanium and I tried going there and hitting Eject, but the option is greyed out.
Is there a way to manually force an eject?
    Thanks.

Thanks for the link. I had seen something similar, but none of those suggestions worked. Here's what I found that finally worked:
    --Shutdown laptop
    --Hold laptop upside down
    --Power on laptop
    --Hammer on eject button
Voila! The CD popped out. Bizarro World on Monday morning, I guess.

  • I am unable to open Photo on my MacBook Pro after installing ilife 11 from a disc.  The message I get says "you can't open the application iPhoto because it may be damaged or incomplete.  What can I do?!

I am unable to open iPhoto on my Macbook Pro (OSX 10.9.3)  after installing ilife 11 from a disc.  The message I get is "you can't open the application iPhoto because it may be damaged or incomplete.  What can I do?!  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Reinstall it.This time delete the receipts first.
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
    2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.
    Important:
As you're on 10.9.3 you'll need to update iPhoto to v9.5 before opening it. Use Software update.

  • Upload data from a Garmin GPS watch.

I would like to download data from a Garmin GPS watch directly to my iPad Mini but can't find how to do it.  I can physically connect it with a 'Lightning to USB Camera Adapter' lead which works well with a camera to download photographs, but when connected to the watch it always returns the message:
'Cannot use device: IOUSBCompositeDevice: the connected device uses too much power'.
Is there some way around this or do I need some other piece of equipment?
Any help would be gratefully received.

Garmin's manual doesn't mention anything about the type of systems that can be used.
All it says is 'Plug the USB cable into a USB port on your computer'.  Their website isn't much help either.
That has worked ok from a PC laptop for a couple of years but the PC is now defunct and I don't want to replace it.
I would rather just use the iPad as my main connection with the www as it does most of the things I need.
    Except this :-)

    Welcome to the discussion area!
Just a hunch. The Sony and iBook may not be able to handle WPA2 Personal Security, which is the default Security setting of the Time Capsule.
Open AirPort Utility, click Manual Setup
Click the Wireless tab below the row of icons
Change the setting for Wireless Security to WPA/WPA2 Personal
    Update to save settings
    Any luck?
