Unable to email word docs as attachments to PC

I'm having trouble successfully emailing a word doc from my mac to a PC. Whenever the recipent receives the attachment, it's no longer a word document,
and instead is converted into the following link: http://shell.windows.com/fileassoc/0409/xml/redir.asp?EXT=07.
Can't understand why the document is being converted into this link??? I tried sending it by both mac email and aol, checking the box "send windows friendly attachments" and neither worked. I have OS X 10.4.8 and am using the windows teacher student edition for microsoft word. Don't think the recipient's system is rejecting it as a virus, etc. b/c there's been no such warning after receiving my email. Anyone deal with this before??

Make sure you're including .doc at the end of every file name otherwise Windows won't know what type of file it is.

I am unable to open a Word doc "Submitted" to a cell in form. When I select the cell and select menu open "Open Doc", I see a IE web page flash quickly before disappearing.
In contrast I can open a TEXT file - a IE web page would display the contents.
I am guessing it is IE related - perhaps it is not able to display Word nor Excel docs?
Has anyone else found a way around this limitation. I even tried opening Excel docs while running webform on the Planning server itself.
I set IE options to allow everything and to trust the planning website.

You are right Alp, I don't understand the permissioning of folders and its artifacts (e.g. files). I know Planning and Essbase security well but Workspace's security stumps me!??
I don't understand what part "Roles" have. I gave a security group "FULL CONTROL" to the folder, and Select "Apply Permission to Children". However, that folder's permission did not get pushed to the artifacts in it.
I read online HELP but don't understand it.

Emailing word doc saved from pages

created a resume in pages and saved as a word doc. the formatting is on 2 pgs when i view the word doc on my Mac, but when i email the doc as an attachment, the formatting changes to 3 pgs. any advice on how to ensure it remains on only 2 pages?

Save and mail it as a PDF. There frequently are small, but consequential, changes when converted to Word.

Unable to Open Word Docs Unless the Word Application is Open

Hello All,
I recently switched from PC to Mac. I installed Office and when I attempt to open a Word Document I get the following message, "The operation could not be completed. An unexpected error occurred (error code 10660)"
I am able to open any Word document when Word is open.
Is this normal? On the PC all I needed to do was open a Word Doc and the Application opened automatically.

Select a Word document in the Finder, choose Get Info from the File menu, select Word under Open With, click on Change All, and confirm your action.

DeVry Dropbox will nort reconize word doc as attachments, it claims the file is empty.

While on DeVry using their website and attempting to use the drop box. I followed their instructions and tried several times to attach a word document to the dropbox but everytime I did it would claim that the file was empty. Had to use internet explorer.

When you call it the first time, it new Shell() constructs a new Display for you (the default).
The second time, it gets the default display, but you are in a different Thread now. Since you have to create your widgets in the UI thread, it gives you that error.

How to prevent Word doc created in OS X from zipping up when emailed?

Recently upgraded to G5 iSight running Tiger 10.4.11.
I frequently email Word docs to co-worker who runs Windows XP on a PC.
When he gets the Word files, they have been zipped and he is annoyed b/c it takes 11 clicks to get to the point where he can save the Word doc to his desktop.
I've tried both Office 2004 and Office:Mac Word OSX. Compatibility checks out ok. Tried saving Word as .rtf and it still zipped it up. I am using the Mail program on my iSight. I select "send windows friendly attachment".
Is there a way for him to receive Word.doc that he can open up easily and then save without having to unzip, etc.

There is no Apple computer called a G5 iSight. Please clarify what you have.

Try and Deselect/uncheck that.

Where do you state that you need to email the files to someone else?
Where do you state that you need to edit them?
This was my response ....
You can't edit any of these files without a compatible iPad app like Documents to Go (Excel, Word) or Pages (Word files).
You can open and view the files as mail attachments but you will not be able to edit them. Explain exactly what you are doing and maybe you can get meaningful instructions.
Basically I said the same thing as Julian and I thought that maybe if you explained EXACTLY what you were trying to do, it would be helpful.

i have a email that has a microsft word doc that was sent to me as a attachment and when i try and open it with my apple iphone 4 i get only 2 choices... dropbox or airsharing? i also have doc's to go on my phone but am not given that choice? they open just fine on my apple laptop.... can any help my with this? it must be a setting that i need to make?

I cannot send a Pages document, Word format via email from my ipad if it has a picture in the the doc. I can send a Word doc if it does not have a pic in it or pdf with a pic. Any thoughs why a word doc with a pic in it won't email in Pages? thanks

I cannot send a Pages document, Word via email if the doc contains a picture. If I email a Pages doc without a pic in Word format or pdf with a pic it with go through to sender? Not sure why Pages won't send Word doc with a picture in it. I check the security on the email recipient and the email doesn't get blocked or throw in the junk box?

If you have upgraded to Mountain Lion, Save As… has returned to the File menu when you hold down the Option/alt key. But you don't really "save" as other file types, you translate & export as Word or RTF or text or PDF & that is easily done by going to File > Export or Share > Export.
Also, please do us all a favor & don't use all capitals in your posts, either the body of the post or the title. All caps is the internet equivalent of shouting & is very hard to read.

Use Software Update or the OS 10.6.8 combo update to update your OS. Also, update everything SU has to offer for your computer. When done, repair permissions and restart your computer.
