Unable to enable AHCI mode for Satelite L350-171

HI,
I recently installed XP on my laptop which previously had VIsta on it. The installation was successful and I managed to install all the drivers. The only problem I have now is not being able to enable AHCI in the BIOS without the laptop restarting. I installed the ICH9 SATA drivers and I can see them on the hardware device page. I was wondering if anyone else has had these problems, I'm not sure whether this has affected my laptop because occasionally I get the blue screen of death.
If you require any other information please let me know.
Thank you
Regards Kevin

could you please elaborate on the process of installing the sata drivers, as far as i know when change the bios to ahci mode when loading WXP it just blues screens straight away. am i suppose to set it to hci then install a clean WXP?
another problem i have found is that my time on the WXP keeps reseting is this due to the ahci drivers?

How can i enable the AHCI mode for the envy 15-1055se. I tried to find this option in the bios, but its not there. I already installed an SSD and the OS (Windows 7 home Premium). Im using Samsung EVO 250gb.

That can be done by using Windows  Regedit feature.  It is imperative that you make a copy of the registry before you commit to the change.
Use regedit with extreme care. All changes that you make take place instantly. That is why it is critial to have made a copy .
What is the installed operating system?

  • NB 100, cannot enable AHCI mode. Official driver won't install. help plz!!!

    Hi,
Can someone please tell me how can I enable AHCI mode after re-installing Windows XP Pro on the NB 100? I try to install the official "storage manager drivers" but windows tells me that the machine does not meet the requirements.
    Please help

thanks for the reply. The article you've linked seems to be for moving a system disk to another computer and the solutions requires physical access to the hard drive + 2 computers??
Also can you please tell me is it true that there aren't much performance differences between Compatibility Mode and AHCI?

  • Unable to enter Recovery Mode for my iPad Air

Unable to enter Recovery Mode for my iPad Air
While updating my iPad Air to iOS 7.0.6, it went into an endless loop of cycling between the white Apple screen and the whirling dashes. I can't even reliably shut it down.  It seems a prime candidate for recovery mode, but unfortunately I can't get it there.  When I try to enter recovery mode by attaching to iTunes then pressing the home key and then reattaching theUSB cable when attached to iTunes, I just go back into the same endless loop Apple screen / whirling dashes cycle.
Right now I'm just waiting for it to power off by letting the battery run down, to see if that jumpstart brings it back up into a different state.
Anything else I can try?  Or is my next stop the Genius Bar?
    Thank you,
    Matt

The timing on this has to be...just...right to enter DFU mode. If that won't work, plug the iPad Air into your computer and set the iPad into recovery mode, like so:
    1) Turn off your device. If you can't turn it off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time and wait a few seconds for it to turn off.
    2) Plug the device's USB cable into your computer only.
    3) Hold down the device's Home button as you connect the USB cable to it.
    4) When you see the Connect to iTunes screen, release the Home button. If you don't see this screen, try steps 1 through 3 one more time.

2.Opened the Personalise option from Masthead and selected workprotect mode and selected
Choose action in popup on unsaved data

  • NB300 unable to set to AHCI mode for SSD drive

    Hi,
I have a Toshiba NB300 netbook, running Windows 8 Pro 32 bit, very happy with it!
I have a Corsair Force 3 112GB SSD drive installed, and everything seems to be running very nicely!
Reading up on SSD drives I see that for best performance I should be running the SSD in AHCI mode.
So I went to the Setup menu on start up and changed from Compatibility mode to AHCI.
I've actually tried this a few times, always with the same result, failure!
When the system attempts to boot I get a message saying a problem was encountered, and that
the sytem is trying to gather information.
The only solution is to go back into setup and reset to Compatibility mode.
The BIOS is up to date, and I just can't think of any way to resolve the issue.
I really would like to get the best performance I can on this net book.
I have a screen grab of the SSD drive details from Speccy, but I can't see a way of attaching it?
If any one can advise me on how to get AHCI mode up and going I would really appreciate it!
    Thanks
    Chris

Unfortunately on this forum we dont have reports about SSD usage on NBs. I have NB520 and I would like to use SSD to but until now I didnt find the right one.
As far as I know by default BIOS is set to AHCI mode. Which OS have you installed? Original one that you got with your notebook or your own version? Have you installed Intels storage manager from Toshiba download page?

  • Re: Satellite A300 - Enable AHCI mode without having to reinstall Win XP

    1- Extract [http://www.mediafire.com/file/qjidwo20rnt/Toshiba A300 WindowsXP 32bit ICH9M.zip]
1- Copy the *iaStor.sys* File into the \Windows\System32\Drivers\
    2- Run *ich9m.reg*
3- Reboot end enter *BIOS* and switch to *AHCI*-mode
4- Use the downloaded driver to install manually the driver when windows detected it.

I spent too much time (almost 2 days) at trying and reading forum, so I think that it would be useful to share my experiment, especially because it's a frequent problem. I will pay for delivery of course. Or someone could share the fils through the internet.

    > 3 days ago I bought notebook Toshiba. I made two recovery discs and I decided to try installing Vista from recovery discs. I had made to be sure they correct but the OS did not stand up.
    What do you mean exactly?
Did you create the Recovery disk successfully or not?
I mean if you have created the recovery disk successfully then you should have this disk. Is it right?
So what is the problem exactly? Are you not able to boot from this disk or what?
By the way; the recovery disk has to be bought from the internet as you have mentioned.
The recovery disk is copyright protected and therefore its not allowed to share or copy it.

  • Unable to enable archivelog mode and flashback mode

    Hi,
I have oracle10g installed on Linux machine.
Everytime i try to enable ARCHIVELOG mode and FLASHBACK through the DB EM console and during the restart of the database, the database just startup and gets mounted, but does not get open. and not able to get the database to archive log mode.
and when i startup the database through the sqlplus i get this following error:
    ORA-32004: obsolete and/or deprecated parameter(s) specified
i am not able to enable successfully archive log mode and flashback mode.
in sqlplus i did the following and got the following:
    SQL> archive log list;
Database log mode No Archive Mode
    Automatic archival Disabled
    Archive destination USE_DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST
    Oldest online log sequence 13585
    Current log sequence 13587
so i was thinking maybe it is the archive log start sequence that is creating error.
because long back i had the database in archive log mode and because the archive log files got filled up, i disabled the archive mode and had to delete the archive log files.
Can someone help me bring the database in archive log mode which i am not able to successfully execute.

  • MSI 870-C45 AHCI Mode for SSD

    Hi there,
Just bought one of these boards and would like to check if i'm doing anything wrong.
I need to install W7 on my SSD, which goes perfectly with default bios options, but if i change to AHCI (Integrated Peripherals > On Chip Serial ATA > Raid Mode > AHCI) i can then no longer install on the SSD. I get the "Windows cannot be installed to this disk, your computer hardware may not support booting"... blah blah!
So, is there a different AHCI setting? Do i need an AHCI driver during install? I'm stumped, any info would be greatly appreciated!
    Dex

I have the same problem with the same motherboard, i cannot install using AHCI.
What is the source of this problem and how can i fix it?

  • E-Recruiting: Enabling accessibility mode for HRRCF_START_INT with Portal

    All,
We are currently using E-Recruiting 6.0 SP9.  Our start pages use the BSP technology.  Our internal jobseekers use SAP Portal 7 to open their start page.  I am trying to figure out how to enable the accessibility option for the internal jobseeker BSP pages going through portal.
Has anyone else enabled E-Recruiting accessibility through the Portal?
I have tried adding the parameter SAP-ACCESSIBILITY=X to the Application Parameters property of the iView.  I have also attempted to turn on the accessibility setting on the Portal personalize link.  Neither of these settings had any effect on how the BSP was displayed.
Do I need to enable the accessibility check box on the logon page in SICF for the service HRRCF_START_INT?
    Thank you,
    Brian Snyder

    Hi Karthi,
Yes, You have to use BSP iView for integrating BSP applications in portal. Give application name , which is hrrcf_start_int in your case and BSP start page, which is the url of the BSP application.
Now as far as internal and external users are concerned,  first make sure like what is the iView or the content they will be seeing , so that you seperate your iViews based on the user.
Like create two roles, one for internal and one for external user.
Assign iViews to page, page to workset and workset to the role.
Now, when an internal user logs into the portal, he will see the content that is assigned to him according to his role and external user will see different content.
Hope you find this answer useful. Please reward points, in case if you find this useful.

  • System freezes when enabling monitor mode for AR9285 on 2.6.36

EDIT: OK, sorry guys, found some more infos on the topic:
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=863772
    Bug report:
    https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/21683
I am going to downgrade my kernel to 2.6.35.
    Hey all,
I have a severe system failure when trying to set my wlan chipset into monitor mode - works with backtrack 4, which still uses 2.6.30 I guess
    reproduce with:
Atheros AR9285 chipset on ArchLinux w/ Kernel 2.6.36 , drivers are standard ath9k which come with Arch Linux
    airmon-ng start wlan0 <channel>
"panic occured, switching to console mode.." or something, after a long output, which doesnt get logged, supposedly..
    might be related to:
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=104231
although ifconfig wlan0 up works without any problems..
what can I do? downgrading my kernel to 2.6.30, or installing other drivers?
I have to admit I'm not a power user when it comes to kernel and drivers stuff.. but willing to learn.
    Thank you

I can't help you, but I had a problem with kernel 2.6.36.1-3, too. I got a kernel panic, when I tried to boot. Only thing I could do was to revert to kernel 2.6.35.x. That happened on my big pc, not on my netbook. Maybe he didn't like my amd cpu, who knows.
