Unable to enter maintenance mode - dtrt1000
Over the last few weeks my box is almost useless. With frequency it only part records, freezes requiring rebooting, momintary screen blanks, and is generally a pain in the rear. I've tried to get into maintenance mode to try and reset it, but following the guide from Youview it doesn't work, and the box just starts as normal.
My understanding is that you (1) Switch the box off from the back (2) Switch it back on after 30secs (3) Press the power button and immediately hold of the -vol button until the splash screen appears...Then you can access the menu.
I've tried holding the holiding the -vol button before the power button, holding it immediately after power button, holding it until the nearly ready screen, in low and high eco modes etc but get the same result, it just goes straight into normal programes???
1 Start with the YouView box powered off from the switch on the REAR panel power button
2. Power back on the YouView box using the REAR panel power button
3. When the FRONT power button is illuminated with an orange circle, press the FRONT panel power button firmly once and it will turn blue
4. Immediately press and hold the "VOL-" button which can be found on the right of the FRONT panel the first silver button.
5. A message saying "Enter Maintenance Mode Y/N (Y: POWER)" appears on the TV screen
So if I understand correctly your experience is that steps 1, 2 & 3 occur but when doing step 4 the message step 5 (does not occur ) and your box boots as normal.
My own (historic ) experience is that the timing of stages 3 and 4 is quite tight - ie the power button turning blue followed immediately by the VOL- button being pressed and held.
Your options if the maintenence mode will not work are to contact BT support and seek their advice or if you are not concerned about the recordings remaining on the box you can do a factory reset from from main Youview menu

Unable to enter Recovery Mode for my iPad Air
Unable to enter Recovery Mode for my iPad Air
While updating my iPad Air to iOS 7.0.6, it went into an endless loop of cycling between the white Apple screen and the whirling dashes. I can't even reliably shut it down. It seems a prime candidate for recovery mode, but unfortunately I can't get it there. When I try to enter recovery mode by attaching to iTunes then pressing the home key and then reattaching theUSB cable when attached to iTunes, I just go back into the same endless loop Apple screen / whirling dashes cycle.
Right now I'm just waiting for it to power off by letting the battery run down, to see if that jumpstart brings it back up into a different state.
Anything else I can try? Or is my next stop the Genius Bar?
Thank you,
MattThe timing on this has to be...just...right to enter DFU mode. If that won't work, plug the iPad Air into your computer and set the iPad into recovery mode, like so:
1) Turn off your device. If you can't turn it off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time and wait a few seconds for it to turn off.
2) Plug the device's USB cable into your computer only.
3) Hold down the device's Home button as you connect the USB cable to it.
4) When you see the Connect to iTunes screen, release the Home button. If you don't see this screen, try steps 1 through 3 one more time. -
I'm using a rooted Xperia SL and I'm unable to enter recovery mode. I was running on Doomlord's pre rooted Stock JB ROM for Xperia S and Trinity ultimate Kernel. The problem started when I tried to flash Sound Enhancements and Walkman app from XDA forums.
After it flashed and I rebooted my device, my phone just kept restarting without being able to get to the homescreen. So I entered TWRP screen and I reflashed the JB ROM. Now, even though I flashed a recovery using Fastboot, I'm still unable to enter recovery mode
I tried using goo.manager but still no luck! The rom works fine and it's prerooted and I can use it to function normally, but I'm not able to enter recovery to flash other apps
Please help

Unable to enter recovery mode after EMMA TA update flash
Hi, I instaled to a sony xperia Z ultra the TA upadate using EMMA tool. The bootloader is unlocked and no error after the flash. After all procedure, I can't enter in recovery mode. Anyone have this issue?
Hi Lusorg
Sorry for replying late.
Now that is really strange and I belive the fault lies within the EMMA.
How about trying it now again or after few days so that things get fixed ?
Try to flash the Generic firmware once again, first see if it still shows kitkat for you. It should be rather lollipop.
Also few things to take care of. Turn off antivirus and firewall on your computer before you begin flashing because these softwares really mess up with EMMA / PC Companion etc
EDIT : One more thing I'd like to add is make sure you're following the correct way to enter recovery. -

HT201263 STILL unable to enter recovery mode
Tried using this technique but my iPod does not respond to Step 2a or 2b.
Try the remaining items of the follow. You will likely have to let the battery fully drain as below.:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Unable to enter recovery mode on my Z3
I bought my xperia z3 a few months ago and I decided I want to root it. I got as far as unlocking the bootloader but now that I need to put it into recovery mode I found out I can't. I have tried multiple methods, the power off then power on while pressing the volume bottons and other variations of that. I also tried usind android-sdk the "adb reboot recovery", and it took awhile to figure that out and once i got it to work all it did was reboot the device. It did not go into reovery mode, I don't get an LED light when i power the phone on like most of the guides say I should be getting. I'm getting really frustrated, I've searched far and wide on the internet for a similar problem and all of the instances i have found have been on rooted phones so the fix is easy, this phone has never been rooted, only the bootloader has been unlocked. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

Unable to enter change mode transfer rule
Hi,
We are in the middle of our annual stackupgrade (from NW7.0 to NW7.01) and ran into a problem.
While testing I noticed that loading data from three old DSOs to their related infocubes does no longer work.
The error reported was that I needed to replicate the datasource and activate the transfer rules again. An error that occurred a lot during this stackupgrade with datasources from other systems.
Replication of the datasource went just fine, but so far it has not been possible to re-activate the matching tranfer rules.
I get the following error/message when trying to go into change mode of the transfer rule:
R3TR generated, changes possible
As a result the transferrule opens in display mode and it is not possible to change anything or re-activate the transfer rule.
An authorization issue seems unlikely, because I get the same error with sap all and my actions have been traced without issues.
Any suggestions?Hi
Generally we do this using program
RS_TRANSTRU_ACTIVATE_ALL
Programe to activate Transfer Rules in BW
use program RSDS_DATASOURCE_ACTIVATE_ALL to activate the data sources

HELP: WLC AP-SSO not working (standby unity in maintenance mode)
I have two WLC version 7.3.101.0 with the standby unit having HA-SKU. I have tested the AP-SSO functionality without any problem in lab with direct connection on RP port between two WLC. Once I brought them into data centre in separate location (latency is less than 10ms between the two DC), the standby unity always went into maintenance mode. The booting process on standby unit went to maintenance mode as shown below:
Management Gateway and Peer Redundancy Management interface are not reachable.
Entering maintenance mode...
I have checked on the core switches at 2 data centre that the two WLC RP ports are connected to same VLAN and it is spanned across MAN link (10GB and less than 10ms delay). The spanning tree on those ports are forwarding as well.
I have rebooted the second unit but no luck.
The interface between two DC is using MTU 9216 which I do not think would cause this issue.
Anyone has come across same or similar issue with me or know the solution? If you do, plz enlighten me.
ThanksThanks Leo and Scott for your feedback. I notice there are two newer software for WLC version 7.3.102.0 and 7.4.100.0.
Both of them seem to have many open caveats. In my wireless environment, I also use ISE, MSE and Prime Infrastructure and unfortunately WLC 7.4 does not support prime solution and MSE yet according to below compatibility matrix.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/controller/5500/tech_notes/Wireless_Software_Compatibility_Matrix.html
I think I only have choice to do minor upgrade to 7.3.102.0 at this moment (please correct me if I am wrong). This software was published on 30th Jan 2013 so I wonder if someone else has tried this and managed to get WLC AP-SSO setup working flawlessly where 2nd WLC unit is at different location?
Appreciate for more info and advise. -

DTR-T2100 Maintenance Menu - For Dummies ( i.e. me! )
Maintenance Menu on BT DTR-T2100 Youview+ box.
1. Turn off the DTR-T2100 using the switch at the back of box. Leave off for 30 seconds.
2. Manually switch the TV to the associated HDMI or AV (Scart) port.
3. Hold down the down arrow button (the button between the OK, Power and Record buttons on the Control Panel on the top of the box) whilst powering on the DTR-T2100 using the switch at the back of the box.
4. Keep holding down the down arrow button as the “BT Logo – Waking Up” screen appears.
5. After a few seconds the "Enter Maintenance Mode Y/N (Y: POWER)" message appears towards the bottom of the screen. Immediately release the down arrow button.
6. Press the Power button once on the Control Panel on the top of the box. (A small amount of patience is now required) The "Enter Maintenance Mode Y/N (Y: POWER)" disappears from the BT Logo – Waking Up screen. After several seconds the screen goes blank. After several more seconds the Maintenance Mode menu finally appears.
7. Select the Recovery option required using the Up and Down arrow buttons on the Control Panel on the top of the box and use the Right arrow button to confirm the option. -
How to switch to maintenance mode in Webdispatcher
Hi, everyone!
Please tell me how to switch to maintenance mode in webdispatcher by shell scripts.
I use Webdispatcher on HP-UX.
Best Regards,
Masahide YanoHi Masahide
I was able to write a script to do this. Hopefully this helps others.
First, I am assuming the web dispatcher is running with basic authentication.
The script did something similair to what wget would do,
wget -user=<user> -pass=<password> http://<host>:<port>//wdisp/admin/icp/confirm.icp?what=change_maint&p1=1
The problem with this is that you get a confirmation page. This page has 3 form parameters, what, token, and p1. The token is what you will need to extract to make the next call.
You then make a call to http://<host>:<port>//wdisp/admin/icp/do_action.icp, passing post parameters, what = "change_maint", token = <what you got from the previous call, and p1 = "1". 1 Enters maintenance mode, and 0 Enters running mode.
I did this all with a PHP script, and the Snoopy class. It works very nicely.
We are also able to add and remove servers out of load balancing, using the same technique.
Cheers

Affinity rules and maintenance mode
I have a VM with a VM to Host mandatory "must" affinity rule that it must run on one and only one ESXi 5.5 server.
I go to try to put that ESXi host in maintenance mode.
If I power the VM with the affinity rule off, but leave it registered to the same ESXi 5.5 host, will I then be able to put the ESXi host in maintenance mode?
Or do I actually have to move the powered off VM to another host and register it there for the ESXi host to be allowed to enter maintenance mode?
Thanks!TheVMinator wrote:

If VMs those are involved in "VM-HOst affinity must rule" are Powerd OFF, host will be allowed to put into maintenance mode. Host will be put into maintenance mode & powered OFF VMs involved in Rule will not be evacuated . However, Powered off and Powered ON VMs those are NOT involved in rule will be evacuated by DRS automatically. This is by design. -
I can write and send emails in Yahoo mail when I use Internet Explorer. But I hate Internet Explorer. For the past two days, I have been unable to use the keyboard to enter email recipients, unable to enter anything in the cc, bcc or subject lines, and unable to enter any text in the body of the message. I have installed the Mozilla program to improve the inter-face with Yahoo, but that has not helped.
hello, can you try to replicate this behaviour when you launch firefox in safe mode once? if not, maybe an addon is interfering here...

Mac mini keeps entering sleep mode
Hi. I have a Mac mini that has this annoying problem where it keeps
wanting to enter sleep mode. This problem seemed intermittent at first.
What I notice is that my mini would enter sleep mode whenever I try to
encode mp3. This seems reproducible. When it enters sleep mode,
I can wake it up by pressing the power button. However, it goes back
in sleep mode after a couple seconds after it wakes up. The only way
I can get it out of sleep mode is to quit iTunes and eject the audio
CD.
Things I've tried:
Energy Saver settings: Computer sleeps after 3 hours inactivity,
display sleeps after 3 hours inactivity, unchecked "Put hard disk(s)
to sleep when possible". I tried disabling energy save. No luck.
I also tried to uncheck "Allow Nap" box in the Processor settings.
However, it always checks this after a reboot.
If I insert a DVD movie, I can watch it w/o any interruption.
Anyone else seen this problem? Thanks in advance.
JimHi Carl. I was unable to find com.apple.AutoWake.plist in my
system. Deleting com.apple.PowerManagement.plist didn't
help.
I decided to try your open firmware instructions. I like the
boot loader. It reminds me of the Sun's boot monitor.
I did the reset-nvram, set-defaults, reset-all. It didn't
help though.
I don't think it is my power supply, either. The reason why I
don't think this is the problem is I can watch DVD and listen
to audio CD just fine. My sleep problem would only occur
when I try to rip an audio CD. I can assure you that I draw
plenty of power just playing a DVD movie.
My guess is I have a power management configuration
issue or a hardware problem. Since this has a Unix core
underneath, I started poking around in the usual places
for log files. I found the familiar /var/log and stumbled
on system.log. Looking at the file, I found something
that caught my eye.
Aug 17 01:06:19 Jim-Fridlunds-Computer kernel[0]: Power Management received emergency overtemp signal. Going to sleep.
Doing a 'grep overtemp system.log', I got the following:
Aug 17 01:04:13 Jim-Fridlunds-Computer kernel[0]: Power Management received emergency overtemp signal. Going to sleep.
Aug 17 01:04:37 Jim-Fridlunds-Computer kernel[0]: Power Management received emergency overtemp signal. Going to sleep.
Aug 17 01:04:56 Jim-Fridlunds-Computer kernel[0]: Power Management received emergency overtemp signal. Going to sleep.
Aug 17 01:05:37 Jim-Fridlunds-Computer kernel[0]: Power Management received emergency overtemp signal. Going to sleep.
Aug 17 01:05:51 Jim-Fridlunds-Computer kernel[0]: Power Management received emergency overtemp signal. Going to sleep.
Aug 17 01:06:00 Jim-Fridlunds-Computer kernel[0]: Power Management received emergency overtemp signal. Going to sleep.
Aug 17 01:06:13 Jim-Fridlunds-Computer kernel[0]: Power Management received emergency overtemp signal. Going to sleep.
Aug 17 01:06:19 Jim-Fridlunds-Computer kernel[0]: Power Management received emergency overtemp signal. Going to sleep.
If you look at the time stamp, you'll see that each event
is only a few seconds apart. This matches with what
I was seeing. Machine goes to sleep. I press the power
button and it wakes up and goes back to sleep. One
big endless cycle. The only way I managed to get out
of it is to quit iTunes and to eject the CD.
Yes, I did install the Xcode 2 development kit that came
with the Mini MAC OSX setup. I eventually want to write
software for the Mac. So, I most likely installed the
CHUD tools package that you had mentioned.
I think the equivalent command line command for
disabling the nap feature is 'hwprefs -v cpu_nap=false'.
When I do that, I get the overtemp event and my mini
goes to sleep. Zzz.
In any case, my mini seems to be detecting false overtemp
condition. Either I have a bad temp sensor or my power
management overtemp threshold is set way too low. It's
possible encoding audio CDs is enough to heat up the
PPC core, but it happens way too fast. I'm thinking my
temperature sensors are not set correctly. If anyone has
schematics for the mini, it would most likely be a Dallas
temp sensor chip. I'm not ready to open up my mini yet
since it is still under warranty. I'll take it in the Apple
store in Walnut Creek this weekend.
Anyway, thank you guys for all your help. I found my
experience on this forum to be quite pleasant. People
here are very helpful.
