Unable to even install BHOLD Core
Hi,
I have heard BHOLD horror stories.
I have talked to customers that tried and totally gave up on BHOLD.
In my work circles, no one has actually seen a functioning BHOLD deployment.
So I decided to try BHOLD myself - and, behold, the default installation even fails.
Here is my setup.
1 x domain controller (DC01 Windows 2012)
1 x FIM 2010 R2 SP1 & SQL 2008 R2 server (FIM01)
BHOLDApplicationGroup created as a Global security Group.
B1user (BHOLD service account) created as a domain user.
B1User is member of:
Domain\BHOLDApplicationGroup
Domain\Domain Admins
Domain\IIS_IUSRS
FIM01\Administrators
FIM01\IIS_IUSRS
B1User is SYSADMIN on the SQL server.
B1User has 'Log on as a service' on the FIM01 server.
But the BHOLD Core 5.0.1992.0 release fails to install with the following error:
"BHOLD Suite Core error 1923. Service B1Service could not be installed. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to install system services"
Could someone please shed some light on how to simply install BHOLD...?

Thanks Glenn, I have verified that the prerequisites listed in that URL are all deployed, and they have been there all along.
I have also run the setup as you suggested. I could paste the entire log file here, but it is very long. So for now, here are some extracts:
I have searched the entire log file, but there is nothing on 'return value 3'. Absolutely nothing.

Domain Admin Group account for installing BHOLD Core
I was trying to install BHOLD Core on a test lab setup. Technet documentation says that to install BHOLD Core, you should login with an account which is a member of Domain Admin Group. Is this mandatory? If only Model Generator is required, should we still

I am setting up a test lab for BHOLD Core and was able to install BHOLD Core and BHOLD Model Generator modules with local admin rights but was not able to start the service. As far as my requirement goes, I just need to run Model Generator. I have tried
several options but was able to open BHOLD Core or BHOLD Model Generator home page only when I login with the account that I used for installing the modules. Is this the expected behavior?
If I use any other account, it gives an error message:
Access to BHOLD is refused for the following reason(s):
Username unknown
How do I provide access to other users? Did anyone face this before?

I've been there recently. The user that is installing the BHOLD Core, is the one that's getting as only one access at first. Note that the requirement is that this installing user is a DOMAIN user. (a bit the same as with the FIM Portal installation, the
installer is the only one having access).
Additionally, the service user (again, DOMAIN user) that you've configured, needs to be part of the specific groups mentioned in the pre-install tasks: Add it to the IIS_IUSRS and BHOLDApplicationGroup, again in the DOMAIN.
Also, this user has to have "log on as a service" rights in the local security policy on the server you've installed this component (or for a labo it can be part of the Administrators).
Additionally, there's mentioning of the service that it can time out, because of certificate validation. You can change the service properties timout.
Additionally, If you've installed this on a Windows 2012 server, you need to do web.config modifications.

Also try to use an external client to connect to the BHOLD website. You might run against the fact that with the Internet Explorer on the server where you've installed the core, the local address authentication (Integrated Windows Authentication) does not
work. There are reg tweaks available for that. But IIS, IWA and local IE usage can be a headbreaker.
You do not need to create a SPN, if you use http://servername:5151/BHOLD/Core it should work.

Can't play you tube and other videos with Firefox. Have re-installed Adobe Flash player without success. I can play you tube videos using Internet Explorer.
I am also unable to even see the link to audio replay on Capitol Pressroom archives. The same link is visible and functional on Internet Explorer.There are some compatibility issues between the latest Flash player and some Firefox add-ons or settings. HP Software finds the printer, but then "the printer was unable to be installed over the network"
I have tried to search for a similar issue, but haven't had any success yet. I doubt I'm the first with this problem!
The computer is XP SP3, the printer is Deskjet 3050A, and it's a WPA-PSK WiFi.
The printer confirms that it is connected to the WiFi.
When I run the setup tool on the computer, at the Network Check point, the setup software finds the printer at the correct IP address. It is the only thing it discovers.
I click next, ànd after a minute or two, I get the error "the printer was unable to be installed over the wireless network" Click Retry to try installing the printer over the network again, or click Cancel to return to the connection options.
This just cycles with no progress. I have turned off the Windows Firewall and also disabled the AV. No change.
I can browse to the web interface of the printer - but still can't install the printer. It is listed in the Printers and Faxes as being Offline.
I'll try once again removing it, and re-adding it - but has anyone come across this problem before, please?

View Solution.I am having a similar problem as well. The printer is recognized (most of the time) when I run the HP Network DIagnostic Utility. However, when I run the Add a Device setup program to install my wireless printer, it is NEVER recognized. I have even tried to use the advvanced serach to locate it using the IP listed in the Diagnostic Utility without any luck. As an aside, I was able to add the printer through windows just fine and am currently able to print to it, but would really like to add it using the HP installation so that I can configure the "scan to" settings again.
To make matters worse, I no longer have the USB cord that came with the printer because the device has been connected wirelessly for over a year now with minimal issues. Any help getting this brick back online and connected to my network would be much appreciated! -

Can you describe more about what you summarize as "unable to re-install my adobe on the same computer." ? What actions do you take and what results? What messages do you get? Are you able to install it on a different computer?
Since you use the word "same", it might be a case that you do have another machine that the install is functional on. If so, or even if you installed a couple of times on the same machine, it might be a case where your activation allowance has been used up and you need to have them reset. If you contact Adobe Support thru chat you can ask them to reset your activations so that you have the two allotted to you available again.

Running on 800 mHz, even though 2 cores are on 100%
Running on ondemand cpufreq governor with 800 Mhz, even though 2 cores are on 100% load. What could be the problem?
/proc/cpuinfo shows 1000 Mhz for 2 cores (out of 4) and cpupower somehow shows only 800 Mhz for all of them.

Well, as for reporting it... I guess you could but you would need to be able to reproduce the problem. I can't see how the kernel could be at fault though, provided you are not running any daemons like cpufreq, Intel i5 CPU's do all the frequency scaling all on there own. I don't know for sure, but I would not even think that ACPI has anything to do with it. I would think that it is all done in the CPU microcode and BIOS.
The main thing is that it is working now. Keep an eye on it with i7z and post again if the problem comes back.
cpufreq is integrated into kernel and it runs even without cpufreq package with a default governor "ondemand", which you can control via /sys and /proc, just like anything else that comes from kernel. Turbo Boost only works when it needs more than nominal frequency and the temperature allows overclocking and yes, it is done by the CPU microcode and BIOS. As for SpeedStep, it is a technology which... "allow the clock speed of the processor to be dynamically changed (to different P-states) by software" (from Wikipedia), so it has nothing to do with my case as turning it off would lead to nominal frequency of 2.4 GHz.
As for ACPI, I agree - it should not have anything to do with that. Or at least I hope so, because using an ACPI-based battery monitor causes trouble: i. e. touchpad may sometimes stop working (and this is a known bug in the Arch community - it's not just my hardware). -

I am unable to re-install itunes. The installer starts ok and then indicates that it can not access a network !! I have tried to uninstall but get the sme error message. I have used 3rd party software to uninstal but still have no joy. My pc is running Vista.

Have installed creative cloud, but while the apps read "up to date," they are not even installed and cannot be opened. Have uninstalled and reinstalled Creative Cloud/Adobe. Horribly frustrating. This is my second computer for installing creative cloud. Does that make a difference?

Attestation in BHOLD is either "Application-based", "Role-based" (not Manager-based) or "File-based". If the Manager in your case is defined on OU-Level you can user Role-based Attestation.
As per BHOLD Definition for Role-based Attestation:
- the Steward's role must be available in the OU branch. that means in the specific OU or in one of the OUs above.
- there must be a Steward in the OU to be attested and must be linked to the Steward's role.
In case this does not meet your environment, you can run File-based Attestation. The Definition file includes the Steward's Name seperated by the user Name to be attested. This works in any case. The file you need can then be produced by FIM (CSV-File Export
MA).

I'm on Vacation with no access to my Mac. But had tried Sync. My software update is iOS 6.0.1. I've tried another WiFi network. I read your comment of deleting Apps for stuck update. So removed all Apps! Can't even install Free Apps. Now using my Kindle

In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever. -
I have just got a leapad for my daughter, trying to download software for macbook pro and it says access denied, so can't even install CD to get it started. Any ideas as to why this would be? Thanks
Try going to System Preferences>Security & Privacy and under the General tab...
...select "Anywhere". Note that you'll need to use an admin account to access these settings.
