Unable to export 1080 HD movie

I have a file that was created in FCP. It is HDV 1080. I bring it up in Quicktime X and select 'save as'. I then select 'HD 1080P' so that it can be saved as h.264. The export progress window comes up and immediately says 'finished' then goes blank. This all worked yesterday, before I did a software update (the 500+ Mb OS one). Does anyone have any idea what's going on?
Thank,
Tony

Use either compressor or Quicktime 7. Qt 7 is in the Utility folder, If not installed here the download for Qt 7: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL923 Sorry didn't see you were trying to use Qt X.

  • Unable to export to QT movie

I just purchased QT-Pro as well as the MPEG-2 plug in. When I select a MPEG video to play, it doesn't play any sound. I then tried to export the video to QuickTime movie and it fails with error: 2147023174. Has anyone else experienced this issue and identified a fix?

The playback component has a number of limitations in terms of playback of sound in mpeg2 files. Did you read the FAQ before purchase? It lists such limitations and includes these statements:'
Can the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component play back AC3 audio?
No, MPEG-2 files containing AC3 audio cannot be played back with the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component.
What audio formats does the QuickTime MPEG-2 playback component support?
The QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component supports the playback of MPEG-2 files (.mpg, .mpeg, .vob, .vro, .m2v, .m2a, and .m2s) that contain MPEG audio layers I or II. The MPEG-2 Playback Component does not support audio playback for MPEG-2 files containing PCM, DTS or AC3 audio.<<<
This freeware may be able to play your files. It also exports the sound from muxed mpeg files, which the Apple component does not do. It plays or exports mpeg-1 natively but requires you to have instlled the Apple playback component to work with mpeg2 files

  • Unable to Export iMovie project in everyway I have attempted for the past 2 weeks. Please Help! Due date coming up!

I've unable to Export iMovie project in everyway I have attempted for the past 2 weeks.I have a late 2012 iMac with 8gb of RAM and 700 gb of free space on the hard drive. The video I am trying to export is 48 mins long with most of the source footage from a NIkon D3100 and several other cammcorders. I've been exporting with Apple Intermediate codec because that was the only one that has work so far but it only worked once and since then I have had to make changes to the project and now I'm unable to get it to work. For all Quicktime exports in H.264 or AIC (my prefered format for this export since I figured it'd offer the highest quality when I import it into Encore for making a dvd out of it) Which just stops exporting in the last few minutes without explination as to why or it crashes and quits. It either leaves a partial file or nothing at all. When I do "export movie" I get a "not enough memory Heap zone error"
I don't know what to do any help would be greatly appreciated!
By the way I happen to have Adobe CS6 Production Premium but didn't know how to use it as well when starting the project and now really regret not using it because it appears to be 10x more stable and capable of handling all the tasks I want it to do.

Are your event clips in h.264? If so, you can solve this by Right clicking on your Event Name and choose "Optimize Media". You can choose Full for 1080P or Large for 960P according to your preference.
After you have optimized your Event, you should be able to Share with no problem.

-108 mean you are running out of (free) RAM.
Try restarting the computer just prior to sharing. That frees up RAM.

Ok - after much cutting, trial and error and days of work I have never really established a root cause for the -108 error. Nothing I did resolved the issue to the orginal project.
The only work around I have found is to split the Original Project into two.
What I found was that anything around the 60 mins mark and above just failed to render in HD and showed the -108 error.
What worked for me was creating two project files - one around 57mins long - the other a part 2 - around 17 mins long. All using exactly the same source clips, photo's, music and transitions as the orginal.
This now works. I guess having it split in two makes it a little easier to work with as I wont have to keep rendering the first part which does not change but really wish Apple would throw some light on this.
Anyway - I hope all of the above at least proves useful for others.
    Good Luck

  • I'm unable to export any slideshow from Iphoto 9.5.1?

After creating a slide show in the latest version of IPhoto with music attached, i am unable to export the slideshow as standard definition or high definition. The export progress bar pops up with a black screen but never moves or creates the show? Anyone have any ideas? I am on a Mac Pro on OS X 10.9.3.

Some folks have fixed this by reinstalling iPhoto:
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
    2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928
One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

  • HT4859 I am unable to recover a rented movie after changing one iPad for another. Music and books were easily restored

I am unable to restore a rented movie after Changing out my iPad for a new one. All music and books were restored easily

PS - have found other posts indicating that clips smaller than 2s or sometimes 5s, or "short files" can cause this. Modern style editing often uses short takes ! Good grief I cannot believe Apple. Well I deleted a half a dozen short sections and can export, but now of course the video is a ruined piiece of junk and I need to re-do the whole thing, the sound etc. which is basically taking as much time as the original. And each time I re-do it I risk again this lovely error -50 and again trying to figure out what thing bugs it via trial and error instead of a REASONABLE ERROR MESSAGE POINTING TO THE CLIP IT CAN'T PROCESS. What a mess. I HATE this iMovie application - full of BUGS BUGS BUGS which Apple will not fix obviously, since I had this product for a few years and see just hundreds of hits on Google about this error with disappointed users. Such junk I cannot believe I paid money for it and Apple does not support it with fixes !!!
If anyone knows of a GOOD reasonably priced video editing program NOT from APPLE I am still looking for suggestions. I want to do more video in future, but obviously NOT with iMovie !!!

  • Can't export audio to movie

    Hi
I am trying to add music to some video footage taken with a digital camera. I was unable to extract the audio from the footage onto my arrange window using import audio from movie. I received a message saying "no active extrac
table audio to be found" (though there is audio in the footage). Then when I exported audio to movie I found that the movie was unchanged, the soundtrack I had created did not play and the original audio remained as well.
    Any help would be appreciated.

H,thanks for the advice, I'll try it out tonight. Yeah I bought quick time pro especially to work with film in logic. I am soon to start working on a project with a film student friend of mine. I was literally tearing my hair out for two days figuring I had done something wrong and it turns out that this problem seems to be part of an apple conspiracy to hush up this flaw. That and the fact apple seem barely contactable when there is an issue with one of their problems only adds to the frustration. I expected more I have to say.

  • Trimming changes quality of H.264 1080/60p mov video

Trimming changes quality of H.264 1080/60p mov video
    Hi,
I have the following 25 s video (according to QT X inspector):
    Format: H.264, 1920 x 1080, Millions
Linear PCM, 24 bit little-endian signed Integer, 2 channels, 48000 Hz
    FPS: 59.94
Data Size: 84.7 MB [= file size]
    Data Rate: 27.08 Mbit/s
    Length: 25 s
After trimming (latest Lion QT version) to 15 s it says:
    Format: H.264, 1920 x 1080, Mlllions
    AAC, 2 channels, 48000 Hz
    FPS: 30
Data Size: 17.9 MB [= file size]
    Data Rate: 10.99 Mbit/s
    Length: 13 s
I get AAC instead of the original PCM audio format,
I get 30 fps instead of the original 59.94 fps and the
file size and data rate (consequently) appear much too small.
Some weeks ago under Lion (and also still now on another Mac under Snow Leopard)
    I didn't have this problem.
Which update caused this and what can I do to get the old, correct trimming behaviour?
Why do I have to "export" now? Previously trimming and saving without quality loss was possible.
    Many thanks.

I would call this a bug (or at least a threat), when - after trimming a video - characteristics are modified without confirmation!
I would consider it a "bug" IFF (if and only if) the results were unintentional. Unfortunately, it is likely the engineers/designers knew exactly what they were doing and did so solely in an effort to remove what might be considered confusing options for the novice but which you and I consider options essential to our desired project work flow.
What if I would have trimmed my footage, deleted the originals, and later (in my editing software) noticed the problem?
My assumption here (and it is only an assumption), is that they gave no thought to the possibility that your preliminary "rough" edits might be a prelude to further editing in a multi-step/multi-app work flow. It seems they consider the QT X app edits to be both the alpha and omega in your editing process and only desire to provide the novice with a finished "distribution" product which does not require the novice to make any export decisions.
Last question: Is there a way to determine if the frames had been re-compressed too, or if only every second frame had been ignored? (But in this case shouldn't FPS be 29.97...?)
I would probably compare the QT v10.0 output against the QT v10.1 output using an app like "Dumpster" which will give you the exact frame count for both (i.e., does the latter actually have exactly half the number ± 1, as well as, check the distribution of data for Key/I-frames, etc. For very long clip it should be obvious if the data is being recompressed or merely copied to a new file container by the amount of time this write action takes. Also the file container itself is usually indicative with MOV file containers being used for the "copying" all data tracks and M4V file containers used when data is recompressed, track limited by data type, and finally remuxed to the M4V container.
Last question: Is there a way to determine if the frames had been re-compressed too, or if only every second frame had been ignored? (But in this case shouldn't FPS be 29.27...?)
It would depend on the algorithm used to drop the frames. For instance, the algorithm could simply drop every other frame but maintain the same timing reference or change the reference to provide a preprogrammed maximum 30 fps to maintain compatibility with devices having the 30 fps limitation. Other algorithms might look for "duplicate" frames (i.e., those displaying little or no change) for dropping and apply VFR time referencing to still achieve a 30 (or 29.94) fps target "average."

  • Exporting 1080 (50p) to Final Cut Express

After an eternity of video editing on PC/Pinnacle Studio, last year I saw the light and switched to Mac/iMovie 09. I now want to make the next step up to HD/FCE and have homed in on a Panasonic HDC-TM700 camcorder which has had fantastic reviews, however, several reviewers have highlighted the inability to export 1080(50p) to edit in FCE. Given that 1080 (50p) would seem to be the "future", is there any way that I can overcome this problem without going to Final Cut Pro?
    Thanks,
P.S. For someone who started out 50 years ago, splicing together strips of 8mm cine film, the "problem" is relative!

I'm pretty sure that the next editable quality down will also look very impressive on your HDTV.
When you have edited your AVCHD video, the cheapest/best way to view it is via this tiny £70 gizmo
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Digital-1080P-Media-Player/dp/B002VAVR4A/ref=sr13/278-5070070-3047239?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1279890483&sr=8-3
All you do is export your edited video to H.264, put it on any USB 2.0 Hard Drive (or memory stick), plug the HD into the gizmo and the gizmo into your TV and you can sit back and watch your own hi-def edited videos.
A £70 1 Terabyte USB 2.0 HD will hold over 200 hours of HD movies.
The HD and gizmo are so compact, they are easy to take to friends' houses and plug into their HDTVs.

  • Unable to export to quicktime properly

    Hello. Help would be nice.
I have a 30 minute film made from FCE and have been unable to create a quicktime file to put into iDVD. I did it once before about two weeks ago but can't now. If i use the 'quicktime conversion' option, the movie looks choppy, as if the fps or size settings are wrong (but they aren't, i've tried everything). also, if i use the other option, 'export quicktime,' and make it a reference file, specific (and consistent) parts of the audio drop out all together (though the video looks right). any suggestions? When it worked the first time, i just used the default settings, but now they don't work. The film is made up of a mix of DV, video files from digital still cameras, and photos.
    Help!
    thanks,
    tq

First of all, is everything in your project/sequence completely rendered?
Are any of your files from the project disconnected, gone offline?
Did you Mixdown the a audio?
Export to Quicktime Movie is definitely what you want to use. You mentioned you exported as reference file .. .have you tried exporting with the movie self contained? This will take longer and create a much larger file but it may be worth a try

  • Exporting 1080 xdcam ex

    Hi
I set my sequence settings to 1080 xdcam ex and now when i go to export from FCP they do not have the option of xdcam ex to export from. Only 1080 HD xdcam
I create a custom setting for compressor of 1080 xd cam ex , square, full hd, and the exporting process says it is going to take 3 hours? My clip is only 4 minutes.. ??
I used this setting for the whole wedding and this is just the trailer what the heck how long will it take to export 2.5 hours?
So if you would please provide any possible solutions for the problem?

    Alright Sequence Settins are: 1920 x 1080 HDTV 1080i (16:9)
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: Square
    Field Dominance: None
    29.97
Quicktime video settings XDCAM EX 1080p30
    Rate 48 KHZ
    16-BIT
THIS IS WHAT MY sequence is and rendered at. I am trying to EXPORT this using the current settings BUT what happens is:
When I go to export using quicktime movie it shows it needs 3 hours to export.. because it is re-rendering everyhting??
If i got to FINAL CUT PRO and go to Audio/Video settings my sequence Preset is: XDCAM HD 1080p30 VBR
WHich is differerent then that of the format I had used. Remember i used XDCAM EX
There is no option to change that setting in AUDIO VIDEO SETTINGS to XDCAM EX 1080 30
    ANY SUGGESTIONS!!????

Hi can someone help me please ?

To be clear, I have not started watching the movie on any other machine.

If I find the movie through top movies and try to rent it , it tells me I have already Rented it and am I sure I want to rent it again ? But its not there to watch on Apple TV
Can anyone advice please as its very frustrating. ?
    Thanks in advance

  • Help me! Audition always failing exports to wav, mov, and Premiere Pro! WHY???

    Hello,
I am sound editing and mixing a picture locked 25 min short film. When done with the mix and ready to  export the mixdown, the export always takes forever (the project is 12GB large total) I mixdown to stereo file wav, but when I open the file, both VLC and Media Player don't play, with WMP saying its corrupt. I bring the same file into Premiere, and it says that it cannot import "because of  a header problem"! What is that? I tried the same with the export to Quicktime (mov) format, and I got the same result. Go up to the window and choose Export to Premiere (you know, directly into Premeire) and it says it it will take 12 hours. I don't remeber cs5.5 taking this long. HELP PLEASE, I need to export this by tonight!!!
    Export settings(both formats):
    Convvert to 48 khz
Convert to 24 bt (32 with mov; only option)
tried both RF64 and Legacy Chunk whatever
Premeire Pro freindly setting on in Preferences
    Windows 7 64 Pro
    INtel Core i7 930
    16GB RAM
    GeForce GTS 250

I don't think a file of that length should exceed 4GB, but be aware that Audition CAN export wave files larger than that due to the RF64 support (vs. 'legacy chunk'), and Premiere can't yet open RF64 giga-wave-files!
Now, other than telling you that this shouldn't be happening, we'll need more information before we can track down what's wrong.  Best thing is to detail for us what your export settings are, precisely.

  • File type for export as quicktime movie

I thought I read here that "Export as Quicktime Movie" produces a .mov file (although without the extension). I'm using Brightcove to host our videos, and their publishpod says it accepts .mov files, but doesn't seem to work with the file from FCE. Is it really a .mov? Or do I need to export using Quicktime Conversion (and burn up lots more time in the process?)

    Thanks...
I did search the forum and nothing addressed my specific issue. Sorry if I didn't phrase my question clearly.
Anyway, I suspect the problem is that the Brightcove software does not work well with the Apple Intermediate Codec. I had no problem with a .mov exported with H.264 compression. This adds extra time to my workflow, but I suspect it will be a necessary evil.

  • HT1473 I have an EZ Vinyl/Tape Converter (MixMeister) to export vinyl records to iTunes. The computer downloads (records) the songs from the record, but when it is to be exported to iTunes, I get a window that says iTunes unable to export. (compatability?

I have an EZ Vinyl/Tape Converter (MixMeister) to record vinly records to my computer; which then is supposed to automatically download to my iTunes program. But it does not. It records and stores (somewhere) in the computer, but when it is supposed to be exported into iTones, I get a window that says something about incompatability and/or "close other windows in iTunes; but there are no open windows and iTunes is closed. I followed all instructions to EZ Vinyl to the T, but no export/import to iTunes. What am I doing wrong? What do I need to do? THX!

Tony, thanks so much. The message reads: "Unable to export to iTunes. Please make sure you close any active windows in iTunes. Would you like to try exporting again? [Yes] [No]"
And of course I click on Yesl, but I keep getting the same window message. I read somewhere, that MixMeister is not compatible with Apple iTunes 10 series versions. The advice said to go to control panel; Programs; click on iTunes; click on Change; click on Repair. I tried that, but I still get the same window message. Then I read that I should contact the mixmeister support website, which will be my next step. But if you can provide any direction, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks again!
