After subscribing and signing in, when I try to convert a pdf file to Word and click on :chose files from my computer" the software does not recognize any pdf files on my computer.

Hi Rave,
My default pdf application is Adobe Reader X. Actually I can export and covert individual pdf files easily using the tools menu, The only thing that does not work is the search for files from my documents. Not too important, but thanks for your help.

Unable to download pdf file in windows 8.1
After upgrading to windows 8.1, i have been unable to download pdf files sent via yahoo email, IE11 and Adobe Reader 11. Did not have this problem before with windows 8. I click on the pdf attachment, NOrton says that the file is safe but nothing happens. Am unable to save the file to my computer either. Have already reloaded Adobe Reader repeatedly, drivers for window 8.1 associated with the hardware on my system, newest version of internet explorer,, upgraded drivers for my Canon printer and still no downloads!!!
Can anybody help? Microsoft community unable to give anymore suggestions.Wrong forum (this is Digital Editions), but ...
I find .pdf files often won't launch properly on my Win8.1. It starts the process but it doesn't do the right thing.
Try making sure you don't have any copies of Reader working (AcroRd32.exe on my 32 bit Win 8.1).
Start a copy from the start screen (or start menu if you've set one up) BEFORE you try to access the file.
Now try to do the download or open it from the downloads directory.
I find that way the file will open properly. -

Good day
I have the situation where we are exporting PDF files from reporting services in our website.
When dividing the data into sections, the report exports perfectly, but when exporting the entire set and trying to open the file, we get the following error in Adobe Reader:
"There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired"
We tried to repair the file, no luck. We tried to use different PDF readers, no luck
We then checked the file sizes. When exporting the subsections, each section exports a file of about 2mb.
When exporting the entire set, the file is about 1.3mb.
Adding all the sections together gives me a rough estimate of 40mb.
Exporting to TIFF works beautifully and returns a file of 41.5mb. Word and Excel formats also work well, only issue there is the page numbering and formatting.
The problem we have is the clients are adamant about having it in PDF format.
Any advice please? This was one of the temporary suggestions I gave the client...
Unfortunately they do not like this as the page numbering and formatting in Word does not appear right. We are talking about over 1300 pages. I can't expect them to change the formatting with each export. Additionally, the data is
constantly changing and each client has their own data. The clients export the reports randomly. I therefore can't post the reports back onto the server.
Thanks for the speedy response though -
Unable to open pdf files in Safari 5.1
Last night I installed Safari 5.1 on my MBP running 10.6.8 and am now unable to view pdf files from Google searches. Clicking on a pdf in Google the window does dark, there is a QuickTime icon and the page seems to download. When it finishes, the QT icon is replaced by the front page of the document but I am unable to scroll down to see more. In some instances the QT icon disappears and nothing loads.
Any ideas?I visited a "genius" in the Apple Store, Leicester, this morning. After some playing around he seems to have sorted it. Apparently - now they tell me! - you don't need Adobe Reader on Macs as the Mac has its own pdf reader built-in. Safari 5.1 is now clashing with Reader and the best approach is to remove Reader - and the relevent preference files. I took one of my MBPs into the store and am just checking it out to see if everything is now ok. I'm now planning to make the changes on my other machine and will report back. (The genius said that my best approach was to bring in the second MBP but I'm not very convenient to Leicester so I'm going to give it whirl myself.)
Wish me luck.
But why did we load Reader in the first place? Are we that unusual in the Mac community? Surely, others must have done the same and are having the same problem with Safari 5.1??? -

Unable to view PDF files in Infoview
I am unable to view pdf files in InfoView (Business Objects Edge Series XI 3.0)
When I select the pdf file from Infoview, I receive the message 'Do you want to save this file' which only allows me to save the document to a location on my computer.
Other users can view the file in Infoview, so it probably relates to a setting on my computer.
Any ideas?
ThanksI've had a little look on Adobe's knowledge base; try this to check whether the issue is related with opening PDF in your browser in general:
"Determine if the web browser can open the PDF file from your local hard drive rather than from the web:
In the web browser, choose File > Open (or Open File).
Choose All Files from the Files Of Type pop-up menu (Windows)
Click Browse
Select the PDF file you saved in step 1 of task 5, and then click Open to open the PDF file. If Acrobat or Adobe Reader displays the file, but won't display it on the web, the web server has a problem serving the PDF file. Contact the webmaster of the site from which you downloaded the PDF file."
If so, try the troubleshooting steps mentioned here:

Unable to view pdf files in IE 11.
Unable to view PDF files in IE 11, Winows 7. Works fine in Google Chrome on same pc. Everything is up todate.
See the solution at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2716529
However, that Fix-it won't work on Windows 7; you will need to make the registry change manually. Download, unzip, then run the attached registry script to change that registry value. -
Unable to download pdf files from websites
For a month now I have been unable to dowload PDF Files from websites.
I have un-installed Adobe Software & re-installed hoping this would solve
this on going problem. But I am afraid it has not this problem seems to
have accured since the latest up date of Sarfari I trust Apple are coming up with
some sort of solution to this current problem ??Far as I know the problem isn't on Apple's end. I'm download PDF files with no problem. But I've experienced what you are in the past and I think you were on the right track when you suspected Adobe. In the main Library folder (not the one in your personal directory) there's a folder called Internet Plugins. Look inside for a file called AdobePDFViewer and delete it. If I remember properly, you force Adobe Reader to install a new one by just starting Reader and it will ask if you want to install the PDF reader. Or, you might want to look at this plugin which, in my opinion, beats Adobe's plugin hands down.

Trouble with Exported .pdf Files
I created three 20"x30" one-page documents (with iPhoto-sourced images) which saved as 24.7 MB, 19.4 MB, and 10.7 MB files, respectively. I needed to send JPEG files to my service provider for high-resolution prints. Since Pages '08 doesn't have a JPEG-export option, I exported each of them as .pdf files. My plan was to open the .pdf files in Photoshop and save them down as .jpg files. The same path had worked fine with a fourth Pages '08 layout of a 2.25"x3.75" document. With the three 20"x30" files, however, I ran into trouble.
My laptop didn't have enough memory to open the exported .pdf files in Photoshop Elements without suffering some image gray-out. I didn't think that was a problem until we discovered that my service provider couldn't open the files at all (running the current Photoshop on a souped-up system). Arghhh.
I switched to a service provider who can print straight from the .pdf files, but that also brought trouble. Though I could open the files easily in Acrobat 5.0, and they looked great, the service provider (running the current full version of Acrobat) could not open them; all he got was what looked like a blank page.
I don't think the trouble is related to file size, as the business-card document which sailed through without trouble saved as an 11.2 MB Pages file.
Could it be sheet size? That's the only thing I can figure. And why would the files open in Acrobat 5.0 without trouble, but not in the current Acrobat (or Acrobat Professional, which we also tried)?
I ended up "printing" the Pages files as "Save PDF to iPhoto," then exporting the iPhoto image as a maximum-resolution JPEG. The only trouble with that route was that the best I could get was a 200 dpi. When I went through Photoshop (instead of iPhoto) with the business card file, I ended up with a 300 dpi file.
Am I missing something obvious here? Any help would be appreciated.Hi,
I don't know if this is the correct answer, but you can open a PDF in Preview and save the document as a JPEG and JPEG-2000. I know that Leopard will also have some neat functionality about this as well. You might also want to look at printing as a postscript file rather than a PDF and then open in Photoshop. I talked with a FEDEX/Kinkos employee yesterday about my book at he stated that Macs use 1.5 while Adobe's Acrobat is 1.7. Leopard should also fix this, but it may not help right now.

Unable to associate PDF files to Acrobat Standard 7 after latest reader 9 patch
I am unable to
make PDF files open as Acrobat standard 7 as my default PDF viewer. I have tried to right click open with, more, browse to acrobat standard 7 folder, coose acrobat program, then open. The acorbat standard 7 program never gets listed in the other programs list. I have also deleted the pdf file type extension and browsed over to Acrobat standard 7 folder and chose program and it still opens in Reader 9. The one bright sopt in all this is I still have the right click open with Acrobat Standard 7 listed.
My users want to just open PDF attachments from outlook without having to save the PDF's first to thier hard drive, open with acrobat standard 7, then save them again, then reattach to to email and foward on with approval stamp. This is on at least 2 machines, an Xp and Vista machine.OK Here is my fix.
I reran the Acrobat Standard 7 install from control panel and chose to "Repair" the installation. After rebooting I could just double click on a PDF and it opens up in Acrobat Standard 7. -
Acrobat 8 Pro now unable to create pdf files
Been using Acrobat 8 for well over a year. Installed new release of AutoCAD 2012, now unable to create pdf files from AutoCAD or MS Office programs. Can anybody help?
You may still want to at least give a repair a shot. Won't hurt and sometimes customer suport (I assume you mean Adobe customer support?) will miss some things. I believe in your version you can find it under the Help menu.
BtlMage918 wrote:
No because the
customer support person I spoke with first said the problem was within the
creation portion of the program and did not fell that reinstallation or

I purchased the package that allows you to export PDF files into Word files. Whenever I try to export the PDF into a Word file it never works... I don't know if there's something key that I'm missing but I'm pretty bummed I paid for it and it won't work. Can anybody help me out?
Hello,
I have paid for this service for a year and it never worked on my computer. I just renewed and it finally converted the file but it will not let me edit it. I join you in being bummed. Either I get help with this or I am asking for a 2 year refund. My intention was to be able to edit a pdf in MS Word.
