Unable to export photos attached to emails to iPhoto (Mountain Lion op.sys)

I am able to right click on photos in Mail and see the drop down menu thta includes "Export to iPhoto", but when I left click on that, nothing happens. the only siolution is to save the photo as a separate file and then import to iPhoto. I never had to do this before I upgraded to Mountian Lion (and the latest update to that whcih was released last week).
Please can anyone help? Thanks.

I thought the problem I have may be with iPhoto. However, I have just updated iPhoto '11 to version 9.4 and the problem persists.
I now have the latest software and updates in my MacBook Pro...and I still cannot export photos attached to emails directly to iPhoto..as I could do befroe I upgraded to Mountain Lion.

    Hello.
I suddenly cannot open photo attachment in emails. Neither photos in incoming emails nor in sent emails work. Does anyone know why?
    Thanks a lot!

  • Where are the "receipts" of the photos that I email from iPhoto?  I have no record that I can find of these.

Where are the receipts of the photos that I email from Iphoto.  I can't find a record of those that I have sent.

I am not using it in a "professional manner".  Even I need to know who I sent that particular photo to and when and by the way, who are you to define what Apple meant by the design of its software?  I think you overstep yourself here.  I also think Apple has made every effort to lead people to believe that it serves a dual purpose as a personal as well as business tool.  I don't need sarcasm from you or anyone when I am trying to learn that which is hidden (or absent) in the software.  Being professional does not necessarily mean for a "business", but rather the level of sophistication and usefulness in the product.

  • Unable to export photos from i-photo

When I click on a photo, go to file > export - I am unable to export any photos.  How can I export them?

The fact that when you click on a thumbnail and get a blank, black window indicates that the library is damaged and needs to be repaired. Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database followed by Option #1 if necessary.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Photo attachment in email doesn't show up in Google Group

I never had a problem doing this with my Windows computer. I would resize the photo (Google has a size limit), attach it to an email, send it to the Google Group, and it would show up. When I do the same thing with iPhoto and attach the resized photo to an email in Mail, the photo is there in the email that appears in my inbox (because I receive new posts to the Group in email form), but it does not show up in the message when posted in the Google Group. I am sending jpegs as I always have. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Google is, of course, no help whatsoever. Can anyone give me advice?

It was that simple! I did what you suggested and the photo was posted. Thanks so much.

  • Unable to Export photos from iPhoto to iPhone

Hello! I'm a new first time iMac owner and have had some major difficulties with the syncing of my iPhone. Not the usual, "I'm a newbie user" stuff, but the kind of thing even the Apple support team had trouble diagnosing.
First, I was unable to sync music that had been exported via external hard drive from my PC to a Mac. The unusual part was that when I tried to sync it simply added the 15 g of music on top of the already existing 15 g on the phone. No go. Even add a few individual albums simply added them. Artwork wasn't coming over etc., as well. the finally simply restored my phone erasing everything. Well, that fixed the music problem but I now left with another, similar issue.
My photos which were imported to iPhoto in the first sync are not syncing to the phone. It appears that the photos are coming over according to the capacity decrease shown on the phone but no pictures show up on the phone. If I sync again it simply adds the amount to the phone again, and again, every time I sync just like the music was doing. If I take a picture with the phone it syncs fine, but if I sync 'all' photos it simply adds it to what it thinks is already on the phone.
Does this make sense? Any ideas?
I'd appreciate any assistance available out there, this is the last hurdle before I'm done messing around with installation and can get down to enjoying the new iMac.
    Thanks,
    Patrick

Yes... Give us some more details
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages? ANd give us the exact error message, please.
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • I am unable to export photos from Apple to an external hard drive

I am very frustrated in the process of trying to export photos from Apple to my external hardrive.   Please help!

I am sorry.... I am trying to export my photos from iPhoto Version 9.2.1 to my external Western Digital Drive.  Everything seems to go along smoothly until I receive the box stating
"Unable to create/volumes/MyBook/IMG 5101.jpg"   and it only gives me the option to cancel..

  • Photos attached to emails

I have recently migrated form Windows after a lifetime with that OS.  I am now coming to terms with Mac and have MacBook Air and an i27.  I am a photographer and need to email photos.  Windows recipients of my emails from Mac with attached photos are telling me that they cannot get the photos out of the emails. This is badly affecting my business and I need to fix pronto.  Must be a common isse, what is the solution please folks?  I am wondering if I ababndon the exercise and light up my Windows 7 Dell!

    Many thanks deh2k.
I am a gmail client.  When recipients try to view they can see the photos in the email but they appear joined together with no space between each and recipeints cannot save them into their own folders to file or forward on.
I don't think there is anything strange about my process.  I draft an email, click the paperclip, go to the folder and photos I want to attach and choose them, they come across and appear in my email OK but joined together and I then send,  Maybe there is some preference in my email that I need to select. Cheers

  • Wrong photos attached to emails

I'd set up several draft emails that I use as templates for business emails I send out regularly. Since updating to Mavericks, they've all got random photos attached to them! None of them have addresses in them, so they are not the photos of the clients I'm sending them to (although once I address one, that client's photo used to attach). Instead they are random photos (which shouldn't even be there until I address it!).
How do I get rid of these photos?!!

It sounds like the tech transferred the iPhoto library file rather than the entire iPhoto library - iPhoto is a database program and the library is a single entity - you can not move the pieces of it but must transfer the entire library as a single entity - tell them to do it again - correctly

  • Signature photo broken when emailing from iPhoto

I have a photo above my name in my default signature in Mail. When I click the Email" button in iPhoto to send photos via email, my signature photo shows up as and icon that reads "Untitled (82kb)".
The photo in my signature works FINE if I create a new email, but not in the new emails that iPhoto creates with the pictures attached.
I added the photo to the signature field in Mail's preferences by dragging and dropping the .JPG file from the Finder. That, and copying and pasting seems to be the only way to put a photo in a signature. Neither method works when initiating an email from iPhoto.
    Mail 2.1
    iphoto 5.0.4
    Any ideas, anyone?
    Thanks!

    Marius,
set the mailer in the iPhoto Preferences to "Mail.app", not to "iPhoto"
    iPhoto > Preferences > General
              Email Photos using: Mail
This way you will be able to mail your photos directly from iPhoto, but you cannot use the iPhoto cards; use the Mail Photo stationary instead, once the mail panel opens.
For some reason mailing using iPhoto as Mailer works for me only, if I am mailing from my iCloud accoun,t and if Mail is set to use the iCloud account by default.

  • Export photos keeping creation date in iPhoto 11

How do I export photos in iPhoto 11 and keep the creation date for the exported photo?

There are two kinds of metadata involved when you consider  jpeg or other image file.
One is the file data. This is what the Finder shows. This tells you nothing about the contents of the file, just the File itself.
The problem with File metadata is that it can easily change as the file is moved from place to place or exported. Emiled, uploaded etc.
Photgraphs have also got both Exif and IPTC metadata. The date and time that your camera snapped the Photograph is recorded in the Exif metadata. Regardless if what the file date says, this is the actual time recorded by the camera.
Photo applications like iPhoto, Aperture, Lightroom, Picasa, Photoshop etc get their date and time from the Exif metadata.
When you export from iPhoto to the Finder new file is created containing your Photo (and its Exif). The File date is - quite accurately - reported as the date of Export. However, the Photo Date doesn't change.
The problem is that the Finder doesn't work with Exif.
So, your photo has the correct date, and so does the file, but they are different things. To sort on the Photo date you'll need to use a photo app.

  • Email Setup MAC (Mountain Lion) and IPhone4

We continue to have issues when setting up email on MAC Mail (especially with Mountain Lion) and IPhone4.  It works just great on all our existing devices, and on outlook on PC, but boy, that MAC Mail and iPhone are just getting impossible.  Thank God for JING to send screenshots to convince ADOBE help that I am not just making typos...  Nevertheless, they have been unable to help me get these accounts setup--needless to say, our clients aren't very happy.
If anyone has any suggestions, they would be much appreciated!!  It's been a rough week with this email stuff.
    Katie

    Thanks Mario,
Yes you are correct.  It did have to do with the MAC settings. It seems SMTP problems with Mountain Lion are not uncommon.  I also went into System Preferences  Network>WiFi>Advanced Hardware>Manually> MTU: Custom > 1300.  After playing with the server port (25) and the authentication (not SSL) but password--as was shown in the directions that were provided, I did get it to work.  That all did the trick!
The day I was contacting support, the MAC couldn't detect the servers--and then, of course, we had the email problems again, so it was pretty hard to figure out exactly what was going wrong.   I guess we are going to be using gmail from now on.

  • Email Notifier for Mountain Lion

OS Mountain Lion is due out later this month.  I find that the email notifier appearing as a small tick on the email dock icon with OS Lion is hit and miss.  Is it true that an improved notifier will be available with OS Mountain Lion that will appear on the desktop as a pop-up?

Unless it is shown as one of the features made avaialble by Apple now, no one here knows (and, if they did, they would not be able to discuss it at this point):
