Unable to fill in forms in Preview & Adobe Reader 8.1.1

On my iMac G5 this feature does not work at all, on the iMac G4 it works fine in both Preview and Adobe Reader. Message says:
Adobe pdf viewer Safari Plug-in missing.
Please help. Thanks!

Did that with no success. Tried creating another user and ran repair permissions.
After trashing the old AR 8.1.1 and res-installing it I still get the following message:
"Adobe Reader has detected that there are missing components that require repair. Select the optional components you would like to repair and click Continue. Deselect a component to completely remove it. Click Cancel to cancel the component repair process.
Box selected √ "Adobe PDFViewer Safari Plugin View, fill-in and collaborate on Adobe PDF's within Safari."
I clicked Continue, waited a few minutes and nothing happened.
The weird thing is that Preview never had the capability to use the text tool either. Something is clearly missing.

  • How to fill out form fields in Adobe Reader

I was set a PDF, from my employer, but am unable to fill out form field, and sign it using Adobe Reader. I have an I Mac, with the latest OS, and a free version of Adobe Reader.

Make sure you have the very latest version of Reader (XI), by going here: Adobe - Adobe Reader download - All versions
If you still can't fill it in, maybe it doesn't actually have form fields in it. You can then use the commenting tools to add text to the file.

  • Why can't I save a recently filled-in form (PDF) in Adobe Reader Touch app on Dell tablet?

I recently purchased a Dell Venue 11 Pro tablet and installed Adobe Reader Touch so that I could view, fill-in, save, and print PDFs.  I do have the newest version (2.0), but whenever I try to save/save as after filling in a form, it won't let me.  I can print the PDF....but cannot save it.  I am aware (or think) that this function is a newer feature for this app....but cannot understand why it is not working for me.  Can someone please explain why I am running into this issue?  Should I be able to perform this task with the 2.0 version....or are these functions not available yet?
    Thank you for any guidance!

There is a special subforum for the Touch version of Reader:

  • I have developed a fillable form using Adobe Acrobat Pro. The form has several fields and some of the information is captured in a bar code. What programs must be used to open the form to properly fill the form out?  Adobe Reader, Adobe Xi, Ibook, etc.. I

I have created a fillable form using Adobe Acrobat Pro that contains several data fields with some feeding data to a barcode in the document.  I have a "button" set up to save and send the completed form one it is completed.  Some of the user are having troubles filling out the form as they are using various programs to do such as iBook, Adobe Reader, etc....  Sometimes the information is not transferred to the barcode and sometimes the "submittal button" doesn't function properly.
Please provide a solution or give me a list of the programs that must be used to properly open and fill out the form.
    Greatly appreciated.

Best option is to use Adobe Reader (or Acrobat, of course) on a desktop computer (ie, not on a mobile device). Any other configuration is likely to be problematic.

I sent out the form to several collegues and one person wrote back that they are having issues. The person has adobe reader 11 and cannot save the form. - Reader version: Adobe XI
    - Form is posted on a website in which users can click and download to their computer to fill out, save, and send back. Here is the link for the actual form : http://www.transceleratebiopharmainc.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/TransCelerate-Site-Pro file-Form.pdf
    - form is downloaded by click on the link on the website, browser would be any that the user has on their computer. for the person with the issue she is using Internet Explorer.
    - The person gets and error message. The top of her form is purple and reads : " Please fill out the following form. You cannot save data typed into this form. Please print your completed form if you would like a copy for your records."

ya downloaded the trial version of acrobat. I guess it was free earlier and never faced a problem.
Acrobat has NEVER been free. Reader (formerly called "Acrobat Reader") has always been free, but the Creation/Editing software has always had a price tag.

  • Interactive Form viewed on Adobe Reader for iOS submit problem

We have created some interactive .pdf forms that, when completed and the submit button is pressed, will access your email client, populate the "To" and "CC" fields as directed in the form script and send the form as an attachment.
Those fields are left blank on both the iPhone and iPad when accessing the forms via the Adobe Reader app.
I have not yet been able to test them on an Android operating system.
This is the URL of one of the forms:http://www.trinitylutheranlcms.org/forms/faith_chest_class_registration.pdf
Is this a bug or have we missed something?

The current submit mailto: capability is limited in that it doesn't process tokens like "cc=" and in some cases, it doesn't process multiple recipients.  This is something we are expecting to have fixed in a future release.
    Hope this helps.

  • Opening filled out forms on non Adobe programs (like Preview) causes info to not appear.  How can I fix this?

I didn't distribute using FormsCentral, I sent my form out manually.  I have now received lots of email responses with my filled out forms.  How can I easily save these as individual PDFs that are readable and printable, and not missing an information?

    Hello,
yes we are using Adobe Reader / Acrobat on Windows XP / 7. We don't use a third party pdf product.
I have repeated the following YouTube video and the PDF file in the email is emty (you can see the form but without the filled in text):
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtU2mnQZlW0
Is it possible that the Adobe Product wants to connect to Adobe server to enable the feature if I save the file? We don't have a direct internet connection - we have to use a http proxy with authentication.
    Best Regards,
    Ralf

  • Unable to fill out forms in my PDF document.  Please help!!!!

    Hello,
I have been unable to fill out the form to my password protected pdf document on either my mobile phone or my Nook HD+.  I read the "Getting Started with Adobe Reader" which states I would be able to do this.  What am I not doing that will allow me to do this.  I have been able to open the document on my laptop just not the other two (mobile phone, Nook HD+)  I really need to be able to access this document.
Thanks for all the assistance in advance.

    Hi,
The current Mobile Reader cannot modify password protected forms.  This is a popular request, and is something that may be incorporated into a future release.
The Mobile Reader supports editing of non protected interactive forms in the AcroForm format that were authored by Adobe Acrobat Pro.
    Thanks,
    Adobe Reader Team

  • Unable to fill in form created in Acrobat 5

    Hi
I created a Word document and then printed it to Acrobat Distiller 5. Then I added form fields in the document in Acrobat 5. When I use Adobe Reader 8 to open it, I can see & type in some of the text fields but not the checkbox fields. Help please. Thanks

    Hi again
I thought I would redo the form fields - this time it seems to work perfectly. I think I probably did something wrong the first time.
    Thanks

  • How do you fill in a pdf in Adobe Reader 9?

I have Adobe Reader 9 on my laptop. I've received several PDF forms which I need to fill in and then email back to the sender. Can this be done with Adobe Reader 9 or do I have to buy an additional program? I'm overseas and for a variety of reasons I can't go onto the Adobe site and spend ages editing/filling in the document online. Any help/advice much appreciated.

In order for you to fill in a form using Reader, the creator of the form would have to add fillable fields. It sounds like the forms you get don't have those so your only choice is to print them, fill them out by hand then mail them or purchase Adobe Acrobat and add those form fields yourself.

  • How to paste into PDF form opened by Adobe Reader?

    Hi,
I need to fill out and fax a PDF form online that I've opened with Adobe Reader 9. Typing in the information is straightforward enough, however I can't seem to be able to paste onto the form. Is there some feature that I need to change that will enable me to do this?
I know the alternative is to print out the form and then fill it out but my preference is to do this online, if possible.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Do you mean "open in full screen mode"?
If so there is an example here: https://acrobat.com/#d=JK2I24ZgmsvMr6BtCQNMOg
The script is in buttons to show the separate functions, but you can combine the ones you want in the docReady event.
    Hope that helps,
