Unable to find a working IR devi

Hey. Just picked up my X-Fi Fatalty today and I must say I'm quite impressed. Mostly. For some reason, the front panel doesn't seem to want to work. It's powered and plugged in, but there's no light coming from the optical ports and when I launch the entertainment center I get the lovely message "Unable to find a working IR device."
Any ideas?

Bratboy pretty much covered it. As long as there is power to the dri've and the PC is turned on, there should be a light from the optical output. Double check the connections. If you have a floppy dri've, and you know that's working (so the power much be too), run it's cable to the dri've instead, in case the current cable isn't working. Run over all the cables to make sure they're plugged in properly, as bratboy mentioned some cables can be a bit tighter and need to be pushed in firmly or "wiggled" into place.
If that still doesn't work, then it's possible there is a problem with the dri've.

  • Error: "Unable to find a working IR device" in Windows Vista 64-bit, Audigy 4

    I have Audigy 4 Pro with the RM-500 remote that came with it.
    The remote is not working in Vista 64-bit (Enterprise).
    It is definitely not a hardware problem because everything works in Windows XP Professional SP3. When I dual boot into Vista, the remote doesn't control anything in Windows but the red light on the I/O external box is blinking so it's definitely receiving input.
    When I run "Entertainment Center Settings", I get the error "Unable to find a working IR device" and all the options are greyed out.

  • "Unable to find a working IR device" Error (Audigy

    I just bought the Audigy 4 sound card today, and did a Full Installation. Unfortunatley, the remote does not work. When Windows XP loads, Windows says it has found New Hardware and identifies it as "Creative USB IR Recei'ver", but it can't locate the files to install it. When I press a button on the remote, the red light in the receiver lights up, but nothing happens. Also, when I try to launch Creative Entertainment Centre Settings, I get the following error: "Unable to find a working IR device". I tried uninstalling everything and then installing it again. This didn't fix anything. I also downloaded the latest drivers and tried another USB port. Needless to say, neither fixed the problem. I really want to get this remote working. Can someone please help me out? Thanks in advance.Message Edited by Marce22 on 2-02-20060:0 PM

    The remote used to work. Now it doesn't operate anything - it only flashes the red LED on the hub.

    What is wrong?

    I found the answer (just as well as its all quiet on the suggestion front).
    I use my old 5. digital card for my gameport. XP installed the drivers for it too. I disabled the 5. drivers, rebooted, and everything works great.

    Hi!
    I dont think you get the I/O bracket (incudes IR) with the X-Fi Music card...
    Try opening Entertainment setting in all programs/creative/creative entertainment settings and uncheck the "Enable Remote Controll when windows starts up" and clicking ok...

  • Type-mapping not working correctly, get "Unable to find a javaType for the xmlType" WARNING

    I'm manually creating a web-services.xml file, and using the autogen ant task to
    generate the codec XML/Java classes. The XML definition is provided by SAP.
    The ant build.xml file:
    <project name="buildWebservice" default="stubgen">
    <target name="stubgen">
    <clientgen ear="C:\projects\RMIS\ifrrequests\RMIS.ear"
    packageName="com.aa.rmis.webservice.client"
    clientJar="C:\projects\RMIS\ifrrequests\rmisws-client.jar"
    autotype="False" />
    </target>
    <target name="all" depends="stubgen"/>
    </project>
    The problem is seen below in the output from Ant. Note the WARNINIG. The problem
    is that the xml type cannot be mapped to the Java type.
    C:\projects\RMIS\ifrrequests>ant -buildfile clientbuild.xml
    Buildfile: clientbuild.xml
    stubgen:
    [clientgen] Generating client jar for RMIS.ear ...

    [clientgen] Building jar: C:\projects\RMIS\ifrrequests\rmisws-client.jar
    BUILD SUCCESSFUL
    Total time: 17 seconds
    The Java source that has the implementation of the service methods is simply:
    package com.aa.rmis.webservice;
    import com.aa.rmis.ifr.request.*;
    public class TestService
    public TestService()
    public int serviceRequest(PaymentRequestCreate request)
    System.out.println("Received serviceRequest message");
    return 0;
    public void testStringRequest(String request)
    The web-service.xml file is attached, which contains the schema for the SAP PaymentRequest.Create
    object definition.
    Another problem I have, which is probably related, is that the service method
    that has a complex data type (non-built in data type) is not being deployed into
    the WebLogic server. But the other service method that simply takes a String
    parameter is.
    The steps I took are:
    1. Get XML from SAP Interface Repository (IFR) for PaymentRequest
    2. Use ant task autogen to generate the request codec classes
    3. Create the web-services.xml file by inserting the schema definition and the
    mapping file created by the autogen task, and defining the operations
    4. Build web-services.war file that contains all autogen compiled class files,
    the web-services.xml file, and the service implementation class
    5. Build the ear file that holds the web service files
    6. Use the clientgen ant task to generate (included above) to generate the client
    jar file that should contain the proxy for both of the service methods
    Environment:
    * WebLogic 7.02
    * JDK 1.3.1_06
    * JBuilder 9 Enterprise
    * Ant 1.4
    Possible causes:
    * Namespace not being used correctly
    * copied verbatim the mapping xml file generated by autogen into the web-services.xml
    file
    * xml-schema part of web-services.xml might not be set correctly
    * operation definition might not be using the correct namespace
    * Classpath used for ant might not be right
    * Doubt this is the problem, but I'm out of other ideas
    * Set by using the setWLEnv.cmd file provided by WebLogic
    * Tried adding the generated classes directory for my project to the classpath,
    but did not work
    I've been referencing the Programming WebLogic Web Services document throughout
    this entire process. I must be missing something.
    Can anybody from BEA help me out with this problem?
    Thanks in advance.
    [web-services.xml]

    Hi JD,
    I spent a few cycles looking over your web-services.xml file, however I
    don't have any suggestions other that one that looks like you have
    already tried, at the top, in the <schema...>
    targetNamespace="urn:sap-com:document:sap:business"
    Making edits to these generated files can be tricky and my only
    suggestion is to create a small reproducer to run by our outstanding
    support team.
    A quick look at our problem database shows one issue (CR095109) related
    to a similar problem at deploy time that was fixed with 7.0SP3. Again,
    the support folks will be able to help focus in on the issue.
    Regards,

    One thing that you can try is installing a 'fresh' version of OS X Lion. Boot into your Recovery partition (holding down the command and R keys whilst booting) and elect to install OS X from the Recovery screen. You need not erase your hard drive and you should not lose any of your data.
    Oh, and just as a precaution, I would use Disk Utility, once you're in Recovery mode, to verify your hard drive before trying to install the OS again.

    I am attempting to upgrade from Adobe Premier Elements 9 to Adobe Premier Elements 13 after using 13's trial version for a few weeks.  I am unable to find where and how to do this without losing the project I have been working on.  Please help?

    Vere Clarke
    Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 and Premiere Elements 13 are standalone products.
    So, you can have both on the same computer, but only open one for your work.
    The classical recommendation is to finish a project in the version in which it was created since there
    is no guarantee that a project from an earlier version will open in the later version. Probably will, but
    no guarantees. And, when you do explore this, do it from a copy of the earlier version project. Once you
    take the earlier version project into a later version one, you cannot go back to edit the later version edited
    project in the earlier version program.
    If you have both versions (9 and 13) on the same computer and you have not moved, deleted, renamed any of the version 9's files/folders,
    right click the saved closed Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 project file, select Open With, and then Adobe Premiere Elements 13.
    (Your 9.0/9.0.1 saved closed project file should be found in Libraries/Documents/Adobe/Premiere Elements/9.0.)
    Please review and consider. If any questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to let me know.
    Thank you.

  • [SOLVED] ERROR: Unable to find root device '/dev/sda3'

    Earlier I updated the kernel to my arch system and found this error while trying to boot. I hate to post this because there are so many topics like it, but I've been looking for hours for a solution to this problem and can't find one.
    Here is the output:

    boot: /dev/sda2
    root: /dev/sda3
    extended: /dev/sda4
    home: /dev/sda5
    I have two hard drives, but i'm sure /dev/sda is the one with my OS.
    Here are some things I've tried:
    This was at the very bottom of the pacman wiki
    # mkdir /mnt/arch
    # mount /dev/sdaX /mnt/arch (your root partition)
    # cd /mnt/arch
    # mount -t proc proc proc/
    # mount -t sysfs sys sys/
    # mount -o bind /dev dev/
    # mount /dev/sdaX boot/ (your /boot partition) #This step is not needed if you do not have a separate boot partition
    # chroot .
    # pacman -Syu udev mkinitcpio
    # mkinitcpio -p linux
    I've also tried performing the above, downgrading the kernel, updating my mirrorlist, reinstalling the kernel, and rebooting as mentioned here.
    I've alsa tried a few other things that I've read, but can no longer remember.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

    Thank colton
    Same problem here, but on a mac book (not mine eyh )
    So, for those how have the problem (or need a live usb for mac or uefi systems),
    1) with a 32bits system
    - download gparted live cd
    - use it for the step 3
    2) with a 64bits system:
    - you need the gparted live cd too: mount it and copy the EFI directory somewhere; then umount it;
    - download a 64bits system (system rescue cd, as colton said is enough, follow the instructions for installation on their website first);
    - mount you live usb, install the 64bits system;
    - copy EFI system on the key
    - edit the grub.cfg in EFI/boot/ , add the following before the other entries:
    menuentry "System Rescue" {
    set gfxpayload=keep
    linux /syslinux/altker64 nomodeset efi
    initrd /syslinux/initram.igz
    3) repairing...
    - boot the broken computer with the live usb
    - mount the partition on which your system is (e.g. /dev/sda1 on /mnt)
    - chroot it, init the system as needed (mount /dev, /proc, etc. the easier way is using init scripts)
    % chroot /mnt /bin/bash
    % /etc/rc.sysinit
    % mkinitcpio -p linux

  • Unable to find Express - but internet is working

    Hi.
    My Airport Express seems to have issues. First off, every now and then the internet slows down (I get 400kbps uploads on speedtest instead of the usual 4000kbps. I can always solve this by using the airport utility to change channels. Don't ask me how this works, but it does. And it doesn't seem to matter what channel, so long as I change it.
    However, recently, the internet has been slowing down, but now I go to airport utility and it says "Airport Utility was unable to find any Apple wireless devices". Now I am connected to my wireless network, it's just working slow. So why can't the utility see my wireless device? Plus why is the wireless slowing down in any case, and why does it speed back up when I change channels - even if I change to channel that might have been super slow a few days ago? I am starting to wish I had bought a different wireless brand at this point.
    Cheers.
