Unable to find a working IR device - hu

I have a brand new Audigy 4 Pro installed.
The remote used to work. Now it doesn't operate anything - it only flashes the red LED on the hub.
I have the latest file updates installed.
What is wrong?
Neil

I found the answer (just as well as its all quiet on the suggestion front).
I use my old 5. digital card for my gameport. XP installed the drivers for it too. I disabled the 5. drivers, rebooted, and everything works great.
Problem solved.

  • Error: "Unable to find a working IR device" in Windows Vista 64-bit, Audigy 4

I have Audigy 4 Pro with the RM-500 remote that came with it.
The remote is not working in Vista 64-bit (Enterprise).
It is definitely not a hardware problem because everything works in Windows XP Professional SP3. When I dual boot into Vista, the remote doesn't control anything in Windows but the red light on the I/O external box is blinking so it's definitely receiving input.
When I run "Entertainment Center Settings", I get the error "Unable to find a working IR device" and all the options are greyed out.

Has anyone gotten the remote working in Windows Vista 64-bit's? Thank you for your help.

  • "Unable to find a working IR device" Error (Audigy

I just bought the Audigy 4 sound card today, and did a Full Installation. Unfortunatley, the remote does not work. When Windows XP loads, Windows says it has found New Hardware and identifies it as "Creative USB IR Recei'ver", but it can't locate the files to install it. When I press a button on the remote, the red light in the receiver lights up, but nothing happens. Also, when I try to launch Creative Entertainment Centre Settings, I get the following error: "Unable to find a working IR device". I tried uninstalling everything and then installing it again. This didn't fix anything. I also downloaded the latest drivers and tried another USB port. Needless to say, neither fixed the problem. I really want to get this remote working. Can someone please help me out? Thanks in advance.Message Edited by Marce22 on 2-02-20060:0 PM

  • Unable to find a working IR devi

Hey. Just picked up my X-Fi Fatalty today and I must say I'm quite impressed. Mostly. For some reason, the front panel doesn't seem to want to work. It's powered and plugged in, but there's no light coming from the optical ports and when I launch the entertainment center I get the lovely message "Unable to find a working IR device."
    Any ideas?

Bratboy pretty much covered it. As long as there is power to the dri've and the PC is turned on, there should be a light from the optical output. Double check the connections. If you have a floppy dri've, and you know that's working (so the power much be too), run it's cable to the dri've instead, in case the current cable isn't working. Run over all the cables to make sure they're plugged in properly, as bratboy mentioned some cables can be a bit tighter and need to be pushed in firmly or "wiggled" into place.
If that still doesn't work, then it's possible there is a problem with the dri've.

  • AirPort Utility unable to find any Apple Express devices.

Help! This is getting desperate. I bought an AEX for streaming music to my hifi. Installed it yesterday and it worked on both my desktop (running Vista) and my laptop (running XP). However I was experiencing sound dropouts on the Vista machine so, having researched on this forum, I tried to change a couple of settings in my wireless router (D Link DI524) to try and cure the problem.
My wireless network is still working fine but since making the changes the AirPort Utility software just keeps telling me that it is unable to find any Apple Express devices and I cannot make a connection. It is the same on both my desktop and my laptop.
I can't see why changing security settings in the router should prevent the Utility from connecting with the device as it has to do this during set up anyway to be incorporated into the network. I have tried a full re-set to factory settings but that didn't work. Any ideas? Otherwise this thing is going back to the store.

It's ok. It seems to have cured itself. And downloading Vista Anti Lag has cured the sound drop outs too.

  • "Airport Utility was unable to find your airport wireless device"

I recently bought an Airport Extreme to replace a D-Link DGL4300. My network is as follows: DSL > Modem > Airport Extreme > Ethernet and Wireless clients (wireless clients include my iMac and my wife's MacBook). This worked fine for about 2 weeks, until my wife's MacBook started having connectivity issues. I did a soft reset on the Airport Extreme, and . . . poof. No internet for anyone. I did a hard reset and used the saved profile that had previously worked (for at least my computer), and after the Airport Extreme restarted, I received the dreaded "Airport Utility was unable to find your airport wireless device". I have repeated this cycle several times with complete power-downs of the modem, the Airport Extreme and all clients, with no change in result.
What's odd is that even though Airport Utility can't find the Airport Extreme, my home network works fine (i.e., all clients can talk to an internal media server and each other), but there is no internet at all. Any ideas?

Until you can complete the configuration process, try connecting your Mac to the AirPort Extreme with an Ethernet cable to see if that allows AirPort Utility to see the Extreme.

  • AirPort utility unable to find any AirPort wireless devices

    Hi All,
I have an issue I have no idea how to resolve. I recently purchased a 2TB Time capsule and after a few teething issues have had it working as both router and external storage. I have spent the last 2 weeks transferring all my media to this for central access from all networked computers.
Its been running fine the whole time until today. For some reason my internet connection was dropped. I turned off the TC and my Modem, and then restarted in the right order.
WiFi connection is Excellent. I can connect to my mapped TC drive, but I cannot connect to either the internet (my network is now only allowing 'Local Connection') and the Airport utility is unable to find any Airport wireless devices. I was hoping i'd be able to see an issue through the utility but it cant even recognise the device!
I am yet to do a hard re-set of the TC as I want to avoid having to go through the network set up again and I assume this is the information that is lost? I'm also concerned I will lose the content of the TC and i really dont have the time or the patience to go through that exercise again.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance,
    Mark

    Thanks for the quick response!
My Modem is not the issue in this case as I have already connected via network cable directly to it and am using it to connect to the internet now.
I had issues with IP conflict etc when setting up the network and suspect something similar this time, except I cant even open the TC to check the set up as AirPort utilities cant see it.
I think I have the TC doing the routing as all periphrals attached to the network were getting a 10.0.1.x  IP address, but I have to confess this is not my forte and neither is pinging things as I dont understand any of the information that comes back!
I assume the hard re-set option is a last resort? I'm tempted to just do it as I cant see I'll be any worse off than now... but I'll hold off and do the proper diagnosis.
Unfortunately I'm away for the next 2 days so wont get this resolved before then... I have the internet hard wired so that will keep the wife happy... but i will look into this further and report back with more details on my return.
    Thanks,
    Mark

  • My Windows Vista Computer is unable to find any AirPort wireless devices

My Windows Vista computer is unable to find any AirPort wireless devices.   I just set this up using another (different) computer and it works fine on that one...

Per chance was the other computer that was able to "find" the AirPort base station another Win Vista device or another using another OS?

  • Airport utility was unable to find any airport wireless device

Installed Airport Extreme connected to my PC running XP Pro. Configured my wireless network successfully. Updated to Aiport Utility for Windows ver 5.5.2 and the Airport Utility shows the 'unable to find an Airport wireless device' message and the 'Rescan' button. I uninstalled the upgraded Utility software, unplugged the Airport Extreme, installed the original software from the supplied disc, held down the reset button while plugging the power back in and waited till I got the amber/green fast flashing lights at which time I released the reset button.  No change. Then upgraded the Airport Utility back to 5.5.2 and still no change.  I can connect to the web from my PC and to an open wireless network named Apple Network f9561d.
Any help getting access to my Airport Extreme greatly appreciated. Thx

PC was/is always directly connected to Airport Extreme via ethernet. Windows XP Pro firewall always has been disabled (double checked). No firewall software.  Disabled PC Tools malware protector.  No virus protection or scanning software.
Only things showing in toolbar are NVidia Settings, Windows Volume Control, Network Connection icon,Safely Remove Hardware Icon and the time.
Don't have anything running that would block any ports.
Airport Utility for Windows is version 5.5.2.
Did another factory(?) reset as described before and pressed 'Rescan' button 15 times with no change. Devices connected via wireless are Nexus smartphone & HP laptop running Vista. All can access Internet, but slowly.
Tried rebooting PC several times with no difference. Tried plugging the PC ethernet cable into different ports in the Airport Extreme before I realized that I could always access the Internet from the PC so I was wasting my time : )
Tonite I unhooked my DLink wireless router, hooked up the Airport Extreme, installed the software, configured the network (perfectly) and then checked for and installed the
Airport Utility software upgrade (no others). As soon as it finished installing, I ran it and ended up with the error. I didn't install anything else or even run any other software. I saved the configuration, checked for and installed the upgrade.  I haven't changed ANY settings on the PC or run any software other than Firefox to create my Apple account to report this problem.
    Any help greatly appreciated.

  • Unable to find any airport wireless device

Hey there. I very recently installed airport Utility (latests version) for windows 7, for the purpose of fowarding ports 1630-1636 for a game. Sadly, whenever i launch Airport Utility, i get the error message "AIrport utility was unable to find any Airport wireles devices. Please make sure your device is in range of your computer and plugged in. Then rescan and try again." Please help! I'm never able to find my modem (which is an airportextreme) making it impossible to foward these ports!
Any input will be greatly appreciated!

Are you connected to the Aiport Extreme either wirelessly or by ethernet?

  • Trying to set up time capsule but keep getting message stating airport utility was unable to find any airport wireless device. What do I do know?

Trying to set up my time capsule on my imac.
Keep getting message "Airport utility was unable to find any airport wireless devices."
    What do I do now?

When having difficulties accessing the Time Capsule (TC) via the AirPort Utility, try the following, in order checking accessibility with the utility after each step:
Check the local connection. If you are trying to access the TC wirelessly, make sure that you are connected to its wireless network before running the AirPort Utility to administer it. If you are still unable to access it with the utility, temporarily connect your computer directly using an Ethernet cable to one of the TC's LAN ports.
Power cycle the base station. Remove the power adapter's plug from the power outlet, and then, wait 15 seconds before plugging it back in.
Perform a "factory default" reset on the base station.
Finally, if you are attempting to access the TC via an Ethernet connection, be sure that your Ethernet port is NOT configured for Jumbo Frames, i.e., using an MTU of 9000+.

  • I have had a time capsule for years and it worked well.  Now my airport utility states it is unable to find any airport wireless devices.  When I rescan, I get the same response.  I access the internet wirelessly through my Time Capsule - that part works.

My time capsule is currently not backing up my MAC.  My airport utility states it can't find any airport wireless devices.  But I can access the internet via my time capsule.  I was trying to reset my time capsule but it won't let me since the airport utiity states it can't find any airport wireless devices.

i was having the same problem. i held the reset button on my airport express for ten seconds, waited for it to restart and than unplugged my internet modem for 15 seconds and waited for it to restart and my wireless worked. but when i go to setup everything through the airport utility everything goes to crap and i have to start over again. i don't get it.

  • AirPort Utility was unable to find your Apple wireless device after restart

I keep getting this message when I try to setup my time capsule.
"The settings for this Apple wireless device have been successfully updated, but there was a problem re-joining the wireless network or finding the Apple wireless device. You may need to select your network from the AirPort menu and try again."
After this message, the time capsule cannot be seen in the airport utilities at all either, and requires a reset before it becomes visible again. I've tried renaming the network and the time capsule itself to shorter names without punctuation as I'd read sometimes helps, but it doesn't seem to work. I don't have an internet connection set up yet, but that shouldn't be a problem, as I've selected not to connect to the internet for now, and am just wanting to back up my computer for the moment. What is happening here?

Until you can complete the Time Capsule configuration process, I recommend that you connect it to your Mac with an Ethernet cable instead of depending on a Wi-Fi connection. That would make a lot of sense given the rest of your situation, as it would make your backup process a lot faster.

  • Airport Utility unable to find any Airport wireless devices (specifically Time Capsule)

I have a (2007) MacBook Pro running OSX 10.5.8, Airport Utility 5.5.3, and (2011) Time Capsule 7.6. The time capsule is not set up as a wireless station, it only connects to my exisiting wireless network to be used as a backup device with time machine. When I try to scan for wireless devices, the airport utility finds none even though the TC is on and the light is green. My other MacBook Pro running OSX 10.6.8 is able to find the TC and run backups just fine - both are on the same wireless network with the same default wireless settings in network preferences. I've looked at about every similar thread in these support forums and tried numerous suggestions, none of which have resolved my issue. I have called Apple tech support, and the only suggestion they gave me was to set up a new network location with default settings - this worked when they gave me the suggestion, and I used it every time airport would lose connection to the TC; however, it no longer works for some reason. Here are some additional details:
This laptop has connected to the TC and made backups in the past. Every time I've established a connection, it has remained for a period of time (usually about a day), then would randomly drop and not be able to find the TC again. I was previously able to work around this by rebooting everything and setting up a new default network profile on my laptop, per Apple tech support suggestion.
Suddenly, the previously successful "reboot everything/create new network location" quick fix doesn't work anymore. I've checked all of my router settings, and nothing seems odd - all pretty standard settings. I don't advertise my SSID for security reasons, but the TC is set up to manually connect to the correct SSID, and it's clearly working fine on the other laptop.
My network preferences are also all standard. TCP/IP is using DHCP with an automatically assigned address. IPv6 is off. DNS servers are the same on all devices. I've tried renewing the DHCP lease many times, but that has no impact.
In airport utility, when I select File>Configure Other and enter the address/password for the TC, it connects to it just fine - I can see and configure all of the settings on the time capsule. Still, it will not find it when scanning for devices and will not make backups with time machine.
Incidentally, the same thing happens with my wireless printer and this laptop - will randomly lose connection and be unable to print even though the other laptop can print just fine. This leads me to believe it is a problem with the laptop and not the TC or router.
    Desperate to find a solution.
    Thanks

Connect to TC by ethernet from any computer. Reset to defaults. ie hold in reset and wait until led flashes rapidly.. about 10sec.
Then redo the setup. Use manual wireless settings.. set a different name to 5ghz.. so bands cannot swap at the client end. Set channels manually not auto.. pick the clearest ones for your area.. you can just trial and error it using channels 1, 6 and 11 or download a utility for the Mac to scan wireless usage.. !
