Unable to find Lion

I've installed Lion on my machine earlier today bur for some reason I can't find the installation folder. I searched everywhere includind the Trash can, with no luck. Has anyone seen this issue before?

Well, software never 'belongs to you'.  However, if you ever have the need, then you can re-download Lion from the MAS for free.

The minimum requirement for iCloud is Lion 10.7.5 (Mavericks preferred): the iCloud Preference Pane does not appear on earlier systems - the MobileMe pane appears on Lion and earlier but is now non-functional - you cannot now open or access a MobileMe account.
To make use of iCloud you will have to upgrade your Mac to Lion or Mavericks, provided it meets the requirements.
    The requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
Lion is available in the Online Apple Store ($19.99). Mountain Lion (10.8.x) is also available there at the same price but there seems little point as the system requirements are the same for Mavericks (10.9.x) - which is free - unless you need to run specific software which will run on Mountain Lion only.
The requirements for Mountain Lion and Mavericks are:
    OS X v10.6.8 or later
    2GB of memory
    8GB of available space
      and the supported models are:
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
It is available from the Mac App Store (in Applications).
You should be aware that PPC programs (such as AppleWorks) will not run on Lion or above; and some other applications may not be compatible - there is a useful compatibility checklist at http://roaringapps.com/apps:table

Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
Note: You need an always-on Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection to the Internet to use Recovery. It won’t work with USB or PPPoE modems, or with networks that require any kind of authentication other than a WPA or WPA2 Personal password.
When the Mac OS X Utilities screen appears, follow the prompts to reinstall the Mac OS. You don't need to erase the boot volume, and you won't need your backup unless something goes wrong. If your Mac didn’t ship with Lion, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade, so make a note of those before you begin.
Don't install the Thunderbolt update -- it's defective.

  • My Macbook Pro Won't boot. Unable to find the driver for this platform

    Hi there,
After doing some casual internet browsing earlier today (facebook + twitter etc) my laptop froze up. While I was able to click between windows, the ever faithful beach ball was there to ensure I couldn't really do anything, including making the dock appear when mousing towards the bottom. So I held down the power button to shut it down, and restarted. After the apple logo had sat there for quite some time I got a message something along the lines of:
Unable to find driver for this platform:\"ACPI\".In"@/SourceCache/xnu/xnu-1699.32.7/iokit/kernel
This was followed by a message telling me I needed to restart my computer using the power button. After several attempts all producing the same results, I was still in the same boat. So I sought some online help which lead me to boot into my recovery partition (holding down the option key at startup) and install the operating system again from there. However this is when I really started to panic. After selecting the recoverey partition the apple logo flipped between a no access symbol (that circle with a line through it) and the apple logo for a couple of seconds, before settling on the apple logo. But the recovery partition never loads and after some time I either get a symbol of a folder with a question mark in it or I similar message telling me to restart.
Next I tried plugging in my external hard drive with a few time machine backups as well as a carbon copy back up and another recovery partition. Using the external HD's recovery partition took me to a menu which the online help had initially promised where I could reinstall osx as well as use disc utitlity. So I tried to run the installer from here only to find my hard drive didn't show up in the list of destination volumes. The time machine and recovery partitions from my hard drives did, but I couldn't select these.
I then turned my attention to the disc utility and tried to repair my hard drive. I was unsure which one to select at first because there were two names for my hard drive; the first being the hard drives actual name (a samsung something or other) and the second was called 'Lion.' I started by repairing the samsung one and this was over in a few seconds saying it was successfully repaired. So I moved on to 'Lion' and this took a few moments, before stalling on a section saying "Updating boot support partitions for the volume as required." I was also advised to recover any data I could and restore I backup.
So that's where I'm currently at. I'd really hate to lose any recent data, as my last time machine back up was about a week ago and I'd made some substantial progress on a mix since then!
I'd really appreciate any help that anyone can offer,
    Cheers!

Just had another look in the disc utility and found that the samsung's partition scheme is set to master boot record, which is apprently used for windows partitions? I've no idea how this happend because When I originally formatted the drive I'm sure I would have set it to GUID partition table. Clicking on 'Lion' just gives dashes for the partition type, capacity and available space values.

  • Photosmart 5510 unable to find my MacBook pro.

I have read many posts with regards to scanner and printing issues with printer compatible AirPrint. I have tried all solutions by the experts but my printer cannot scan from computer, error message is "unable to find computer make sure printer is connected to a network and turned on". I find that not all the setting are available in order to turn on Scan to Computer. I have tried two HP printers Photosmart 5510 and 3050 both with same results, I have eventually established a more permanent connection by selecting the Bonjour name for the printer when adding a printer to Print & Scan, not the HP name. The HP software did not appear to work for me as it was unable to find the wireless printer on the network. So I used the option to obtain  wireless connection to my router using the printer panel, then adding the printer from Print & Scan and ensure that AirPrint is selected not Printer Software.
I still have issues when printing from a web page but I can work around that as I also have IOS devices where I use HP Apps, even though Airprint should work on these devices without needing apps.
    My OSX is Mountain Lion
    Macbook is mid 2010
    Printer is Photosmart5510 B111a

It sounds like the issue is with the printing system since Airprint works (which is a very different system all together).  The scan function will not work with Airprint and the full featured drivers is required to have that functionality from HP.  However, there are alternative ways to scan if you want some scanning functionality until the software issue is corrected.
Try resetting the printing system before continuing.  Resetting the printing system will remove any printers from the system.
Have you tried installing the newest 10.8 full featured drivers from HP?

I just updated my software, but seems my macbook got an error of unable to find driver for this platform..

Did you try more than once? If so:
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
    Reinstall Mountain Lion or Mavericks
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Lost applications symbol and unable to install lion

lost applications symbol and unable to install lion. Do I have to go back to original installation of operating system.  If I do will I have to reinstall all programs?

    A couple of questions:
Are you really on 10.5.8 (as shown in your profile)? You need to be on 10.6.8 to install Lion.
What exactly does the "lost applications symbol" mean? You mean it disappeared from the dock? Or is your Applications folder gone? Open a Finder window and see if you can find the Applications folder.

  • Unable to find airdrop, searched finder and still no luck.  Any suggestions?

Base station error, air port utility was unable to find my airport device. Why does it say this when it recognizes my airport on the computer? Yellow light has been on

On the older version of the AE you can still use older airport utility.
But once you load the new one you cannot easily go back.. you can load an older 5.6 version though.. instructions below.
For 6.3 you need to run ipv6 local link.
    see http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4597
How to load 5.6 into ML.
    1. Download 5.6 for Lion.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482
Click to open the dmg but do not attempt to install the pkg.. it won't work anyway.
Leave the package open on the desktop so you can see the file. AirportUtility56.pkg
    2. Download and install unpkg.
    http://www.timdoug.com/unpkg/
Run unpkg on the desktop.. If your Mac refuses to run the software, because it wasn’t downloaded from the Apple store, go to security in preferences and allow other software to work.. this is limitation of trade methinks. You can set back later if you like.
Now drag the AirPortUtility56.pkg file over to unpkg.. and it will create a new directory of the same name on the desktop.. in finder, open the new directory, drill down.. applications, utilities .. there lo and behold is Airport utility 5.6 .. drag it to your main utilities directory or just run it from current location.
You cannot uninstall version 6 (now 6.3 if you updated) so don't try.. and you cannot or should not run them both at the same time.. although I have had no problems when doing so.

This is a JTT page and there is no VO. If you wanna see how this report is built check out qotSCocPrint.jsp. Here data source are quoting classes. If u need any quoting related data y do u worry about source, y don't u directly hit quoting tables like aso_quote_headers_all and aso_quote_lines_all.
