Unable to find some e-mails trough search function

So... our Groupwise guru is on vacation and I have an issue I'm unable to resolve.
Our sales team shares an e-mail resource which contains a huge amount of information so they rely on the search function a lot. Since about two days the search function doesn't work to its fullest anymore.
If we search for something generic like "backorder" or similar it will find a lot. But when we try to search for a send mail with a specific subject it will find nothing. It will simply continue to search we waited over 10 minutes while normally results pop-up within a few seconds.
If we then go to the send mail box and use the Filter it finds it in no time. So we are sure we used the right search term and we only selected the send mailbox only search the subject.
I tried running an mailbox maintance analyze/fix databases but that yielded no results.
I'm not much of an Novell and Groupwise specialist so if theres anything i left out let me know and I will see if I can find it.

And in the meantime, if the OP is just one of the users who needs a
"fix" while the GW admin is out, he could have the affected people
switch to caching mode. Then they'd be using their local cached QF

Finder unable to find some file which actually exist?

My problem is .. I tried to look up several photo through Finder search function, I am sure they existing under Pictures and when I browse into Pictures. I see them there for sure.
But no matter how many time i tried to put their name for search, Finder only able to pick up the thumbnail that generated by iphoto but not the original photo in my folder.
I also tried to:
1. re-index
2. delete plist file for finder and spotlight
still not working.
I also tried to move the file to external hard disk to see if finder will pick it up.. but not
the only way that finder will pick up the file again is.. either re-name it.. or save-as another copy.. then finder can finally pick that up.
Is that something to do with the file permission on my file?? they are just ordinary photo file that imported by iphone.

The reason I asked what OS you are using is that you have not updated your Public Profile and still show that you are running 10.4.8 - Hate to waste time with useless suggestions.
Anyway, are you searching for the names of the files as they are named by your camera or a title that you are assigning in iPhoto?
If you are searching for a title that you've added to a photo then you need to do that from within iPhoto. Adding Titles doesn't change the original file name that Spotlight tracks, it just's adds a metatag that can be read, filtered, and searched for in iPhoto.

Mountain Lion Mail Program Search Function.

I upgraded my 2nd Generation Air to Mountain Lion. The search function on my mail is not nearly as effective as it was before. I find myself searching on my IPhone or Ipad, then forwarding the mail to my email address so I can open it on my Air. I can't find it with the Search Mail function on the computer, but can find it easily with the other devices.
I've looked in settings and configuration, but can't see anything that would let me go to a different search function.
Any ideas?

I really tried everything but nothing helped.
But finally I solved the problem.
I made a timemachine backup (just for safety reasons).
Then I installed Mountain Lion again over the existing installation.
(I used a USB Stick with Mountain Lion to do that.)
Now everything works great.

HT1338 On macbook MAIL the search function doesn't work?

On my macbook retina pro with latest updated softwares the search function in "MAIL" doesnt work. It is supposed to be pretty simple fucntion and on my iphone and othe rmail programs it works fine. However once i type anything in "Search bar" at top right then inbox goes empty and nothing appears. Whereas the search bar gives options of sveral email names etc, even if i select one. It doesn't work.

Which search function do you mean?
*searching via the location bar (pref: keyword.URL)
*search bar on the Navigation Toolbar
*search bar on the about:home page (pref: browser.search.defaultenginename)
*other search bar (e.g. added by extension)
Is this about the about:home page?
If there is a problem with searching via the default about:home page then try to reset the search engine used on the about:home page.
Reset the browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone pref via the right-click context menu to the default on the about:config page and close and restart Firefox to restore the about:home page to its default.

If this didn't help then delete the delete the chromeappsstore.sqlite file in the Firefox Profile Folder and repeat the above.
You can use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.

Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).

When an album has multiple artist how can you make them show up on an iPod Touch 4G? I can find an artist using the search function but they don't show up in the artist view on my iPod. iTunes shows them OK when you sort by artist.

Tech support seemed to understand the question but had no answer. Why would an album with only one artist show the artist but an album with multiple artist not show any of them. The album art show various in iTunes. That makes sense but on my iPod I would expect to see all artists.

Wish I did. I tried the group function but that didn't help in iTunes. The search function is the best I came up with. I can answer the question do you have susch and such artist. But I can't browse for an artist I don't remember exactly or have misspelled. Fortunately I don't think I've bought anything from iTunes that i already had. If you can't see an artist it's possible you think you don't have something you actually do have. Sorry, still hoping for a better work around or better yet a fix.

Safari unable to find some URL's

Recently Safari has been playing up on at least 2 Macs I use.
Sites I have been using at numerous times per day for years have suddenly become "unavailable" at times; coming up with "Safari cannot find the server......"
Launching Firefox and/or Chrome finds the sites straight off whereas Safari has a strop and says "no". This problem is random but fairly regular.
Anyone any ideas?
Machines/OS used iMac 10.6.8 and MB-Pro on M.Lion. Both exhibit same oddity regularly. Cache emptied on the former.

Under DNS Servers you should have one or more numerical addresses, such as “192.168.1.1” or “10.0.0.1”. What are those addresses? Are they the same on both Macs?

In the Customize Toolbar I was unable to find some useful buttons like New Tab or Reload Current Page. Will they be added?

You can't have an icon twice. The "reload current page" is on the right of the location toolbar and the "New tab" icon is on the right of the tab toolbar.
You can move them to the "Customize toolbar" window or any other place in any toolbar.

IMAP + Gmail: will mail.app search function work for 100% of messages?

This feels like a dumb question, but haven't found any discussion of this issue on the forum.
I'm considering switching some accounts including Gmail to IMAP. I'm accustomed to having all mail stored locally on mail.app - and frequently search that whole universe (we use mail as an info archive).
The dumb question is what happens to an account that is switched from POP to IMAP? Specifically, when there is no internet connection (often for us, sailing around the world on our yacht).

Clarification: I forgot to say that I have configured my Gmail IMAP test account in Advanced to "Keep copies of messages for offline viewing".
But it isn't clear whether this applies to every msg on the server, or just to new mail sent/received since the IMAP connection was established.
I am afraid to convert one of our big primary addresses to IMAP until I'm sure that it will work as we require. Again, it isn't clear what happens to say a Gmail account when you switch it from POP to IMAP then back to POP again. What happened to the local copies of the traffic during the IMAP period.
Lastly, can an IMAP account be accessed via POP without messing anything up?

In OS Yosemite the search function in Mail, Finder, Spotlight… does not work. Messages or documents with the search criteria are there and one could find them manually, but the search function fails to find them. Following advice from Apple Support (728965377):
1. I applied an Apple protocol for adware removal (Remove unwanted adware that displays pop-up ads and graphics on your Mac); I had none, because I had formally utilized a similar protocol that I had found in Internet, actually an app that implemented automatically Apple's adware removal protocol.
2. I rebuild the post boxes in Mail (Mail (Yosemite): Reconstruir buzones); It took a while but it functioned properly
3. I re-install the System (OS X Yosemite: Reinstalar OS X); It took about 4 hours but there was no problem whatsoever with the installation.
Afterwards I searched for messages in Mail, and documents in Finder and Spotlight, without any difficulty. The search function in all of them was working properly. But the next time that I needed to search messages or documents, an hour later or so, the problem reappear and a couple of new issues occurred:
1. in app RagTime 6.5.2 (Build 1821), www.ragtime.de, the menu bar disappears (it is invisible), when one performs certain operations, e. g., calculating a value with a formula, whether it is in a spreadsheet or some other component (text, drawing, etc.). After touching with the cursor the menu bar is visible again.
2. after reading an e-mail in Mail or copying an address, this is seeing as a floating object in the finder and over every application. There is no logical way to get rid of the floating object and neither copying or deleting or cutting it. It is not a big issue but nonetheless bothersome.
3. In Mail, messages with Flag or in VIP contacts cannot be seen in the appropriate folders, only in the Incoming mail folder, together with other messages. It seems to me, this issue is part of same search function problem.
4. The preview function within Mail does not show the attached documents to a message, whether it is in the IN, OUT or Draft boxes.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try again to re-index Spotlight. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Unable to find the facebook notification

I am quite a new BB user... can anyone please help to advise on my above qn?
I got a Facebook push mail notification [1f *] but i just unable to find the notifiction when i search my facebook app....
so there is a icon of (unread facebook notice) kinda of annoying...
Please help me... i need all the expertise you all can give....

Correct me if I am wrong but I am reading your post as follows:
1. You have the BB Facebook Application installed on your Storm
2. You have received a message that you have a Facebook notification and
3. You cannot find the notification when you go to Facebook
I have a Storm and "had" the Facebook application, had being the operative word.
When you go to the BB Version of Facebook there is a row of icons across the top of the page. The second from the left if I remember correctly is the "notifications" icon. Click it and the unread notifications will appear.
As you might be aware all browsers render Facebook differently. I found the Blackberry Facebook application to be the least useful of any rendering. For the application memory footprint I found it to be too restrictive of what I could do with it.
I have three browsers on my Storm (Bolt, Opera Mini 5 beta 2 and the native browser) and have my Facebook as a favorite/bookmark on all three. You can save application memory and have Facebook do anything the application can do.
I have within Facebook activated SMS notification for certain Facebook applications and friend updates and postings on a case by case basis.
I still have Facebook as a contact for uploading of images and making status changes and with a meager 128mb of application memory I save memory for more useful applications.

Can not find any doc by search function in SharePoint 2013

Please do as the followings:
Make sure that you have created and configured Search Services Application, you can refer to the link:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg502597.aspx
Make sure that Search Host Controller Service , Search Query and Site Settings Service and SharePoint Server Search are started
Open the library, click on Library Settings->Advanced settings, on the Seach section, select Yes.
Please use the completed name of the document to search, compare the result.

How to auto create Report Search functions and Breadcrumb Menu on new pages

Hi
First off I want to say I have just started using Html DB, and think its a great product! I have been using it for a few months now to create an application, and find it flexible, powerful, but still fairly simple to use.
When I create a new Application using "Based on Existing Tables", the pages that get created have some very nice Report Search functions and Breadcrumb Menu features generated automatically.
I want to do the same when I add pages to an existing application. That is, I want new pages to automatically include those Report Search functions and Breadcrumb Menu features.
I have tried various combinations of the existing wizards, but I have not been able to find any that generate all those features automatically. I know I can create pages using the page wizard, and then manually add the Report Search and Breadcrumb Menu. But that is very tedious. Nor can I find a better answer in the forum
Any suggestions or ideas?

Ibook search function failing

Hi I am proofing an ibook on an ipad2 and after incorporating the corrections on a mac, I reloaded the file to iBooks multiple times, using Apples bookproofer 1.0.1. on the mac.
Workflow: Indesign epub unzipped then to dreamweaver xhtml file reconverted to epub using a applescript called epub zip 1.0.3.
I am now finding that the search function is limited to the first three letters of some words. The search function is not finding whole words, rather only partially finding words in the document. This is happening for words that are occurring multiple times in teh document, some very simple words ie Tony. It finds the first three occurrences but not the ones later in the document.
This phenomenon was not occurring when the book was initially installed. The problem has only been noticed after multiple uploads of the ibook during the proofing process.
Another example of the issue is as follows:
Type or select 'volendam' or 'Volendam' and it finds nothing
Type 'volen' and it finds nothing
Type 'vol' and it finds the first three leters of Volendam (FYI A Dutch fishing village) along with multitude other words like 'volume'.
I have done a reset…reset all settings. I have deleted the ibook and reinstalled. I have deleted the ibook app and reinstalled. Turned of autocorrection autospelling, no joy.
I have loaded the ibook on another ipad2 and the search works correctly – so the issue is this ipad2. It's not jailbroken.
It doesn't appear to happen in other ibooks, although I haven't had time to fully check.
Any help appreciated.

Update,
The problem was overcome by installing the ibook thru itunes and syncing. It appears no longer as a proof ibook but as an ibook.
All the searches work correctly.
