MDS 9216i keeps rebooting and getting the following message:

Any suggestion..?

I don't believe that CDETs is open against the 9216. If you are seeing this error occur on the MDS console, then I suspect a hardware error on the 9216. Software failures would land you at a BIOS prompt, or at a 'LOADER>' prompt. I suggest you contact your 9216 hardware service provider.

    Java programs are run by a virtual machine which is running in userland. They don't "mess" with the kernel.
    OTOH, each userland program interacts with the kernel through system calls, signals, pageing activity, ...
    My guess is that it's either broken hardware, or a fault in the linux kernel.
    Is the crash reproducible? Does ist always crash with the same error message, at the same "eip" location?
    If the crashes are sporadic and non deterministic, with different error messages each time, then I'd say it's
    a hardware problem. Otherwise, it could be a linux kernel software problem.

  • Enable Master AXI interface to provide address space more than 32 bit - HLS

    Hello everyone,
    Is there any specific syntax in HLS to anable Master AXI interface to provide address width more than 32 bit, like 33 bit to support 8G memory space addressing?
    For now we can manually modify the Verilog code generated from HLS by changing the AWADDR, ARADDR and related signals from 32 to 33 bit, and make the memory space reach upto 8G.
    However this maual process spent us lots of time and the code is hard to maintain expecially when the HLS design becomes more complicated.
    Could anyone please help to find a way to expend the AXI address width in HLS? Thanks.

    There is an option -m_axi_addr64 to enable upto 64-bit addressing for all M_AXI ports in the config_interface option.

  • Maximum possible memory address space using OS 10.6.2 and iMac 8,1. . .

    My understanding of the 4 GB spec. of maximum supported RAM for my iMac 8,1 is that it is a legacy of 32 bit architecture, where the address space is 2^32 unique addresses. But that is for a 32 bit system. . .
    Obviously my (and most other) mac is configured with 64 bit architecture, add Snow Leopard (using 64 bit kernal) to the mix, and I expect the address space to follow suite, and support 2^64 unique address (~16 terabytes of RAM).
    So it seems that the 4 GB spec. is obsolete.
    Can anyone provide for me a clear technical explanation of this? (Or point me to such a resource.) I'm not really interested in anecdotal information of the "I plugged it in and the System Profiler said X" variety. I've searched this forum and Google for an answer to this question to no avail.

    You seem to understand correctly. What is it you want to know?
    When your computer is booted into the 32-bit kernel the memory space accessible is restricted to the 32-bit limit of 4 GBs. Thus, running a 64-bit capable application still limits the application to the 4 GBs unless the application is written to allow it to address more than that. I don't know if any such application exists for OS X. If you boot the 64-bit kernel (requires that your model will boot the kernel) then the address space is limited by the 64-bit maximum of 16 TBs.
    In order to take advantage of the increased memory space you must use only 64-bit capable applications that can address that much memory. You also would need to be able to install that much RAM in the computer. Your model supports a maximum of 6 GBs.
    It's questionable whether booting the 64-bit kernel makes much sense given that you cannot install enough RAM to much exceed what is usable with the 32-bit kernel which is a maximum of 8 GBs (4 GBs per channel, and the hardware is dual-channel.) Furthermore, there are no larger memory modules for laptops than 4 GBs, and they are very expensive. And, there's a limited number of third-party applications and utilities that are 64-bit capable. This is especially a problem for system extension modules which may not be 64-bit capable and will not work with the 64-bit kernel.

    I've been trying a new feature on my BIOS that allows to memory map PCI device registers to spaces above 4G.
    However, when I booted in Solaris, it failed to load some devices, and pci_boot also reported:
    "unsupported 64-bit prefetch memory on pci-pci bridge [%d/%d/%d]" (copy pasted that line from pci_boot.c)
    Digging further I also found some comments in npe.c in a register mapping function:

         * We can't handle 64-bit devices that are mapped above
         * 4G or that are larger than 4G.
    I am in the process of rewriting the driver code right now, but I am wondering how deep will I have to go or if a fix already exists in Solaris.
    If you are wondering why I need all this, it is because I have a device that requires a very large space of prefetchable memory (>4G) and I need those BIOS settings to make it boot.

    Remember that by definition, the bus is an interrupt driven mechanism, and if each HBA is attempting an operation, it gets the bus for a time slice to the exclusion of the other HBAs. Sounds like your servers are trying to pump a lot of data through one bus, and having a lot of contention doing so.
    You should see if the servers have a split bus structure. For example, some servers have a bus for PCI slots 0-3, then another separate bus for slots 4-7, etc. You'd have to dig out the specs to determine this. Placing your HBAs across these separate buses might eliminate the contention you are seeing (for example, HBA0 and 1 would go into slots 0, 1, then HBA2 and 3 would go into slots 4,5).

    I changed the program a little bit in hope to find a way through this problem.
    First I created a processor, but instead of using it as a player I took the DataSource output (Processor.getOutData()) and used this as an input for two other (cloned) players.
    Too Bad, but the same happened like before as I used two processsors directly - one player initialized and the scond came up with "unable to handle format".
    Maybe this helps someone to find a clue on this problem.

  • How to increase usable address space for 9.2 Oracle on RHEL4

    9.2 (on RHEL4):
    The customer is using huge pages and also used VLM until switching the CPUs from Dual-Core to Quad-Core architecture
    In his research he has found the following supported procedures:
    - 10gR2 has already increased SGA limit for 32bit Linux 3,42 GB without VLM option.
    - 10gR1 has an option to increase it by changing the address space and relinking the libraries.
    - 9iR2 has the same option. But all that i have found in Metalink/Google is for RHEL 2.1 release.
    The customer has removed VLM and now has the SGA within 32-bit Linux limit for 9i - 2.7 GB. They are considering moving to 64-bit architecture, but before that they are looking for a way to achieve in 9.2 the increasing of the SGA on RHEL4.
    They are looking for a similar procedure as the one described in 200266.1. In this note they only mention RHEL 2.1. Is there a supported way to do this on RHEL 4 release?

    There are all kinds of optimisations listed here, which are not all directly related to each other:
    -Huge Pages: huge pages is the page size of the memory allocation done on the operating system layer. the reason for using hugepages is because the PTE table decreases because the number of PTE entries decreases when the size is larger.
    -VLM: vlm is actually an oracle naming of using PAE, physical address extention. Using PAE means using addressable space beyond the normal 32-bit addressing is used, which is usable because of a trick on the processor level.
    -switching from dual core to quad core: this switching means the operating system sees more processors (which is also a trick, because the number of CPU's is not increases, only the number of core's on the processor), which means the system is most likely able to do more processing in the same time.
    -using 3.42GB: this can mean two things
    -a) it means the oracle executable base address is lowered (which is already done for 10g by default)
    -b) the hugemem kernel is used which has a 4:4 kernel split, instead of a 3:1 kernel split.
    so the real question is: what is it you are looking for to use this? and are you sure you achieve that by increasing the SGA?
    to be able to help your customer, please diagnose what you want to achieve, instead of just apply all kinds of technique which seem to be doing something with performance.

    When I run the code using command prompt (I'm using windows 7), it succeeds for files of .au and .wav formats. For .mp3 format, it shows the error message shown above.
    I then tried playing all the audio files (.au, .wav, and .mp3) using JMStudio and It worked!!! The error message obviously shows that I added the library correctly and it used them to run. I just do not understand why it cannot play some files in command-prompt and all files in an IDE!!
    I need help please!!!!! I would really appreciate it.

For .mp3 format, it shows the error message shown above.Netbeans and Eclipse use their own special PATH variables, which means they don't know where to find JMF.jar. You have to add that JAR file explicitly to your libraries path for your project.
    Further, JMF doesn't play MP3 files unless you also install the MP3 plugin.

    Hello!
    Try to register plugin in JMF:
    1. Launch JMStudio (java JMStudio).
    2. Go to File->Preferences
    3. Enter the "Plugins" tab
    4. In the "Demultiplexer" tab, add the class "com.omnividea.media.parser.video.Parser" and commit. See screenshot.
    5. In the "Codec" tab, add the class "com.omnividea.media.codec.video.NativeDecoder" and commit. See screenshot.
    6. In the "Codec" tab, add the class "com.omnividea.media.codec.audio.NativeDecoder" and commit. See screenshot.
    7. In the "Codec" tab, add the class "com.omnividea.media.codec.video.JavaDecoder" and commit. See screenshot.
    8. Go to the "Packages" tab
    9. Include "com.omnividea" in both the Protocol Prefix and the Context Prefix list. Move both of them up to the first position. Commit both. See screenshot.

    Hi all,
    I changed the program a little bit in hope to find a way through this problem.
    First I created a processor, but instead of using it as a player I took the DataSource output (Processor.getOutData()) and used this as an input for two other (cloned) players.
    Too Bad, but the same happened like before as I used two processsors directly - one player initialized and the scond came up with "unable to handle format".
    Maybe this helps someone to find a clue on this problem.

  • Windows 8: Is it normal for system processes to allocate large address spaces?

    I have noticed in Windows 8 that the system processes, such as services.exe, svchost.exe, winlogon.exe, etc, tend to accumulate large address spaces. See attached picture. Is this normal? I generally look for this kind of behavior to detect memory leaks,
    but it doesn't seem like a leaking issue.  The virtual size goes to just under 2GB and then stays there. This is on 64-bit systems.

    The first script is still working as it should under Exchange 2013 when a send connector is created for the first time.
    The second part of adding (or removing)  address spaces from an existing send connector was a little bit trickier.
    the following script did it:
    Get-SendConnector "ConnectorName" | Set-SendConnector  -AddressSpace ((Import-CSV <PathOfCSV>) | ForEach {$_.Name})
    Watch out! this command also removes domains which are not present in the csv file!

    Is your MacBook using Mac OS X 10.6.8 as indicated in your post? If so you will not be able to fully integrate with iCloud.
    iCloud and Snow Leopard, by Roger Wilmut describes what iCloud options are available for Snow Leopard.
    If you are using Lion, go to iCal>Preferences...>Accounts, and delete/re-add your iCloud CalDAV server.

    Sync your iPhone to iTunes, and see if that does the trick.  Also you could try a Soft Reset with no Risk to Data.  Holding down both the Sleep button and the Home button until the Apple logo appears and then waiting for the Reset to bring you iPhone back to the lock screen.    Are you trying to add the email at Settings>Messages>Send and Receive from (2 Addresses) your iPhone number and your email address?
