Unable to hear audio

From both Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server SP4 as well as Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP2, whenever some video or audio is played from the iTunes store (iTunes) or from the movie trailers (iTunes for H264 content or Quicktime) there is no audible sound. Went to the http://www.apple.com/quictime to manually check & install any updates to Quicktime v7.1 for Windows...there aren't any new updates and the same is true when automatically checking from the Quicktime player...there aren't any new updates. What am I to do as no sound is audible. This is from my Windows computer that I have with two separate drives each with their own windows MSW2KPro SP4 and MSWXPPro SP2. So there is not a problem there. What is there to do?

Here is a change from my original post about not being able to hear sound from iTunes music store. As in the previous message regarding this post I am experiencing this problem with both Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional SP4 & Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP2. The problem occurs whenever the preview of a Television episode and Music video is previewed through iTunes Music Store, launching iTunes of course, no sound can be heard. To test whether this is an iTunes issue only or a sound card sound related issue, I played an uncompressed Divix movie & DVD movie on DVD-ROM disc in InterVideo's WinDVD, the Windows version of the free DivX player, RealPlayer v10.01 for Windows, Microsoft's Windows Media Player v10 and 11 BETA all playing fine with no issues related to sound. Sound is able to be heard clearly. I also have a Macintosh computer that has multiple HD connected running different versions of OSX "Panther" v10.2.8, "Jaguar" v10.3.9 & "Tiger" v10.4.6 which are able to successfully play the preview of different Television episodes and different Music videos. Please tell me what is happening here from the info given above.

    I found the answer
    I opened a neew project then clicked on "Edit" then "Preferences" option,then "Audio Hardware" option,Selected "ASIO Settings" and then Selected "High Definition Speaker option"(Sync Enabled-Yes) and deselected "High Definition Speaker option"(Sync Enabled-No).
    After making this changes I was able to hear the Audio and Edit the same.
    Issue resolved.

  • Can hear audio but get no video in QT player or iTunes or Safari

    I can hear audio, but get no video (ie just a blank window or the "first frame" of the video) when playing basic ".mov" movies using QT Player. I also get the same behaviour when trying to watch movie previews in iTunes. I get the same behaviour when trying to watch QT movies in Safari (for example the latest apple advertisements from apple.com), although ironically I was able to watch the entire Macworld keynote without a hitch in QT Player?!?!
    I know my mac is now "getting on", but I know it is still capable of displaying "ipod" sized movie trailers in iTunes.
    Real player, cameraid, graphic converter and btv pro can all play the movies QT Player cant. Firefox can play the movies that Safari cant play. Unfortunately there isnt an alternative for iTunes.
    Can anyone give any reason or solution to the fact that the core Apple applications are unable to play Apples own movie format when out of date, 5 year old, 3rd party software can?
    I have tried
    1) deleting the QT plist files
    2) reinstalling flip4mac, perian, realplayer and flash, and
    3) have just updated QT an iTunes to the latest version.
    Any ideas?
    The only hint I can think of, is that when playing a movie in QT Player, if you minimise the movie to the dock, and then bring it back to the desktop....it displays the "current" frame of the movie which sits there "frozen" until you do it again ... and just repeating, audio is fine.

    Yes Techmo, persistence is the secret.
    After the QT 6.4.5 update once again made no difference, I gave up with a brand spanking new 2.8Ghz iMac only a couple of days away.
    On cleaning out the old mac getting ready to transfer files to the new mac, I unplugged everything but (of course) power, keyboard and mouse.
    I dont know why, but I tried a movie...and it worked like a charm.
    I dont know what was plugged in that was giving QT grief, but I suspect it may have been my ageing Orange Micro iBot webcam. Too late now to find out (and I no longer care as I gaze on my new 24 inches of beautiful screen real estate), but for all those with this problem....try unplugging everything as I did and see what happens. At least it might be a starting point to solving your problem.
    Strange it only affected Apples own applications though???

  • When Audio Console launched, Unable to find audio device error message comes

    When I launch audio console, I get an error message saying:
    "Unable to find audio device. Please make sure that your audio device is enabled and installed with its driver. This application will be closed."
    This can't be right because my soundblaster audigy 2 ZS platinum card is installed, its working, I can hear things etc.
    I uninstalled and reinstalled the audio console software package from creative and that fixed the problem for a very short while and it is now reoccurring.
    I've had this same setup for several years with no issues, now all of a sudden, this is happening.
    Anyone out there had similar challenges?

    Most probably you don't have passed the correct root= option to the kernel so that the kernel cannot, as it says, find its root device. Read the wiki page about refind in order to know how to configure it (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/REFInd). Refind as no fully automatic configuration like grub.

  • Unable to hear sound when playing Music Sampler from website

    I am unable to hear any sound when trying to listen to music samples on Amazon (for example) and also other websites. I have enabled Firewall to all the internet player, which does launch and start playing but there is no sound.
    The volume is definately up on the speakers and I have tested Windows Media Player and it plays radio and other music on my pc perfectly well. So I am unsure as to why I cannot hear the music samples from websites now (I have done in the past).

    Did you check if the Wave volume control in the Sound and audio devices was set to higher level???
    This control is responsible for the sound volume of any music files.

  • Unable to hear Voice in Video Conferencing.

    One of my user has organized the Video Conferencing, where his voice is heard at the other end.  But the Presenter is unable to hear the voice.
    Have checked the Policies have no issues.  What could be the next step to check and share your thoughts.

    Can you confirm the locations of each user involved in terms of inside the network or connecting via edge?

    Hi,
    Try the following.
    Open windows Control Panel, open Windows Update, select 'View update history' in the left hand pane and then select 'Installed updates' link in the following window.
    Locate update KB2962407, right click it and select Uninstall.  When done, restart the notebook and when Windows has reloaded,  open windows Control Panel, open Windows Update and select 'Check for updates'.  You'll see the update you just uninstalled being offered again - right click and select 'Hide Update'.
    After this you may or may not need to delete and reload the Audio driver - if you do, the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the document on the link below.
    Recovery Manager - Windows 8.

    Try disconnecting the headphones and then adjusting the volume, does it say headphones?
    If it does, there might be something in the headphone jack, maybe lint, dirt, or something else in there.
    You can try getting it out by connecting the headphones 5-10x or spraying compressed air into the jack.
    If it doesn't say headphones or there isn't anything in there, try restarting or restoring the iPhone.

    I have the same problem!! It lead to many other problems with my phone
    I just arranged a repair with apple. Yes its inconvenient to be without a phone for a while but if your phone is in warranty its good to get it looked at professionally!

    I'm unable to stream audio from a popular radio station. My old Win XP and Vista systems had no trouble. The radio station's site indicates that Windows Media Player is necessary. I'm hesitant to install anything having to do with Microsoft and/or Windows. What do I need to know? What are the pros/cons of installing Windows Media Player? Is there an Apple-approved version of WMP? Are there any other options available to me?

    Some radio stations will play in Safari and other OS X browsers and some will not without a wmp?
    Download and install Flip4Mac first to see if that doesn't let you listen to you favorite station?

    Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
    It sounds like even though the Mute switch is not on, sounds are not making the, well, sound they should, and the volume buttons make a blank volume indicator appear on the screen that does not show the volume level.
    I wanted to recommend a couple of things.
    First, I would reset the phone:
    Resetting your device
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    From: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

    If that does not resolve the issue, then you may want to try backing up to iTunes, and restoring the iPhone again but this time do not restore the backup and set it up as new to see if the issue persists without the previous configuration.

    From your statements above, it sounds like you never tried to burn a CD for at least the first year that you owned the laptop, as it had a one year warranty on it. While you might have used it frequently to install software,  play DVDs, Blu-Ray disks, etc, that's unclear from your statements. Nonetheless, it might just be dirty-dusty. So, before deleting-uninstalling any software, and given they're cheap, try a CD-DVD Cleaner Disk first and see if that resolves your problems.

    It would be nice if you told others the steps you've tried and/or how you used to have your setup.
    Anyway have you tried tapping MORE this will then bring you to
    the selection-list of Audiobooks, Genres, Compilations & Composers.
    Selecting Genres gives you a list of all your music split into genres which was set within the Music downloaded via iTunes or uploaded from CD or which you may have set yourself.
    Then you just select the Genre you want:
    If certent songs are not correctly gategorised you may need to go into iTunes and reselect via Get-info
    >Info>Genre and change it there. That way you should end up with all songs of Jazz or other in 1 place.

    Make sure all of the videos used in the project that is having that problem are from the same event. If they are from multiple events, move them all into one event.

    When you import them into your Premiere Elements project, what does Premiere Elements Properties for that import give for
    the audio description in the way of number of channels? If you open the Audio Meter (Window Menu/Audio Meters) and you play back
    the video in the Premiere Elements Editor, how many channels does the Audio Meter display?   
      I just drag and drop video and when playing back only channel 1 will appear
    What is your intended export for this video in terms of audio as well as video compression and formats?    MP4
    I think you can only use audio if it's recorded on channel 1 or it does not recognize it.
