Unable to hear software synths in Logic

Maybe the answer is right in front of me and I can't see it but when I try playing an audio instrument sound I get a response in the level meter but don't hear any sound. I'm using a G5 Tiger 10.4.6 and have logic pro 7. the output is on 1-2, I've selected a simple Organ sound, and I can't hear anything

I'm not sure what you mean by audio system. If you mean the sound card, it says core audio. I have an M-Audio ozone controller. I do see levels in the 1-2 output. I can play them in Garage Band, works fine with Reason and AbletonLive, but no sound in Logic. If I import an audio file, it will play back just fine and the fx work great. Don't know what else to try

Unable to hear and record software instruments

I can only hear and record my Korg TR Music Workstation instruments. How can I hear/record the software instruments (from Logic Express 9, Garage Band/Jam Packs)? I have my Korg connected to the computer through an M-Audio recording interface.

You can hear them by:
1. Making sure your midi input is functioning (see a little movement in the transport box)
2. Selecting a virtual instrument in the box just above the 'out' box above the track volume slider
3. Play the chosen instrument from midi keyboard, or draw a region, open, play vertical keyboard on Left side with mouse.
I hope you don't really try to record instruments in the Jam Packs because they're not instruments.
As far as I know , they're loops.

Recently got the Korg R3 Keyboard for my birthday, but i'm having trouble getting it to work in logic.
i have a mac book pro and i'm currently working on logic 9.
I've been scouring the internet to find a comprehensible step by step set up to begin recording with this keyboard in logic, but have come up empty handed.
i would really appreciate if someone could tell me how to set this up.

This keyboard can supposedly hook up to my computer by simply using a USB connection. Preferably i would like to set it up this way but honestly i am just desperate to start recording this baby into logic. thanks again for the help.

Ok, you don't say anything about your audio interface, so i'll assume you don't have any. Your R3 can only transmit and receive Midi data to Logic through the USB interface, not audio. So, you can either control Logic own synths and hear them through your laptop headphone. For that you'll need to create Software Instruments tracks. If you want to control the R3 own sounds, you'll need to create External Midi tracks.
But you'll only hear the R3 through its own outputs or headphones. In this way, you can only play 2 sounds since the R3 is bi- timbral. If you want to hear your R3 through Logic's mixer, you must plug its audio outputs in your laptop audio inputs and create an audio input object and select your laptop input as the input for this object. This way, you can mix the R3 audio signal with the audio signal of Logic "internal" synths. You might run into a ground loop problem by doing this, though. You'll have to RTFM from there...

Software synth output disappears and won't come back

On every song I work at some moment one of the software synths stops. The tackactivity meter moves, but the audio output dropped dead. The only way to get the sound back is to quit logic and start logic again. The behavior is random; it can happen to any softwaresynth at any moment. Any possible causes?

This hideous bug bites me on average at least once per session.
The best part? Doing a bounce to find that killer pad swell in measure 73 is missing because of a dead instrument. (Hope you catch that before it's off to reproduction!)
This really needs to be fixed ASAFP, and is inexcusable for a Pro app.
(I read someone's post about a possible workaround, though it's never worked for me: the next time this happens, leave to song open and go to open another song. When it asks to "Close current song", cancel the entire action (taking you back to the original song). Allegedly the instrument should work once again, but it hasn't ever for me. A restart of Logic is the only thing that works. >:-[

Is it possible to use a third party software synth to record tracks in GB3?

I bought a Korg K49 MIDI keyboard to use with the software instruments in GB3. It came bundled with the M1Le synth software, which I installed on my Mac. Is it possible to use the M1 software synth to record tracks in GB3, and if so how?

I imported three different softsynths on my Intel iMac. They were all AU plugins, and deleverd as Uninversal Binaries. They are all great sounding syths, and completely free! The sytnhs are: Zoyd (mono-timbral, but "fat" sounds), Crystal (multi-timbral, many many knobs and sliders) and Automat. I made reviews on them on my website, but they are in Dutch. Unable to hear any sound on my Equium U400-124 laptop

I have got Equium U400-124 laptop
recently my sound system has stopped working all together. Though the volume button is set to maximum i am unable to hear any sounds.
I tried updating the sound drivers software by going to device manager. then it came back as all upto date. I tried going back to the date where it was working but this also hasnt helped.

No I tried using earphone as I gathered if u try headphone in and out several times it tries to remove the dust.

I am unable to use software upgrade, til yesterday it was running fine, today i am not getting the updates, the page is completly blank, but still says , your computer has softwares to be upgraded.why has this problem occured.I know i can download everything individually, but i need my mbp to do it automatically, as my net is slow.

3rd party pluggs or Logic instruments? Did you change hardware or installed/updated your software? I have a similar problem after an update where logic can't open 3rd party pluggs... But then I can open them on new projects... Strange!.....

User unable to hear from diferent WLC registered AP

We have 2 WLC 4404 and 4402 .Currently around 115 Nos 1242 series AP is registered in both WLC .100 AP is in 4404 and rest in 4402 .Software Version 7.0.251.2 Emergency Image Version 5.2.157.0..We have Cisco 7921 ,7940 and 7911 phone.we have started the 4402 WLC recently with 15 Nos AP.Now we are facing the below mentioned problem
We are unable to hear the sound in call when one wireless phone registed with AP of WLC 4404 and one wireless phone registed with AP of WLC 4402.
But at the same time when weireless pone user call to any wire phone user it's working fine.Both user are able to hear.
Plase help me to resolve the issue.

Debabrata try the following if virtual ip didn't solve your issue.
1- Keep the Authentication/encryption open
2- Test making call using wireless clients on same WLC 4404 but on different AP
3-If above work then change the WLC but no WLC 4402 any other for testing purpose and test again

Hi,
Try the following.
Open windows Control Panel, open Windows Update, select 'View update history' in the left hand pane and then select 'Installed updates' link in the following window.
Locate update KB2962407, right click it and select Uninstall. When done, restart the notebook and when Windows has reloaded, open windows Control Panel, open Windows Update and select 'Check for updates'. You'll see the update you just uninstalled being offered again - right click and select 'Hide Update'.
After this you may or may not need to delete and reload the Audio driver - if you do, the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the document on the link below.
Recovery Manager - Windows 8.

Software synth patch help

Does anyone have a simple way of getting a good "falling pitch" analog sound using the software synths included with Logic Studio 9?
I am starting to do a lot more project studio work and programming of cover songs, and although it's hard to relay the sound I'm looking for in words, the best examples for the sound I am looking to create is audible in No Doubt's Hella Good & more recently in Kesha's Tik Tok. For lack of better reference, it's reminiscent of a "cartoon space gun" where the pitch drops off at an adjustable rate.
Any suggestions, help, advice, etc would be greatly appreciated.

Basically, you just want a pitch envelope to make the pitch do what you want on the attack, decay or release.
The ES synths have routable envelopes, so you can route any of them to pitch and do what you want.

Midi(software synths) into Audio?

I heard that in Logic,you lay down midi(software synth's) and then covert that into audio,is this true and if so how can it be done? Can this be done in Logic Express and Logic Pro?

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking, but if you mean CAN you convert MIDI tracks into audio, yes, you can. You just solo the MIDI track, do a bounce, and add the resulting audio track back into the song.
If you mean do you HAVE to convert MIDI tracks to audio, no, you don't have to. When you bounce the whole mix to stereo, all MIDI tracks are also recorded to audio. That way you can continue to edit them until the final mix.

Recommended software synth?

i am getting the feel of logic now after a few months of practice and realized that i really don't need hardware synths. logic's instruments sound so powerful. however, i'm wondering where does one get more sounds? does logic have additional sounds for sale or are there other software synth developers that any of you vets would recommend?

You may find some files on some of the Logic boards (I know I stuck a few presets up on http://www.proapptips.com).
Why not roll your own? That's half the fun.

Try disconnecting the headphones and then adjusting the volume, does it say headphones?
If it does, there might be something in the headphone jack, maybe lint, dirt, or something else in there.
You can try getting it out by connecting the headphones 5-10x or spraying compressed air into the jack.
If it doesn't say headphones or there isn't anything in there, try restarting or restoring the iPhone.

I have the same problem!! It lead to many other problems with my phone
I just arranged a repair with apple. Yes its inconvenient to be without a phone for a while but if your phone is in warranty its good to get it looked at professionally!

It sounds like even though the Mute switch is not on, sounds are not making the, well, sound they should, and the volume buttons make a blank volume indicator appear on the screen that does not show the volume level.
I wanted to recommend a couple of things.
First, I would reset the phone:
Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
From: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

If that does not resolve the issue, then you may want to try backing up to iTunes, and restoring the iPhone again but this time do not restore the backup and set it up as new to see if the issue persists without the previous configuration.
