Unable to import any video
I have iPhoto 9.5.1 running on Mavericks. The issue first appeared when iPhoto refused to import the only two movie files on my iPhone 5S running iOS 8, stating the two .mov files were in an unrecognizable format. I used the Image Capture tool to pull the two videos off the phone. They play normally in QuickTime, however iPhoto still refuses to import them.
I tried repairing and then rebuilding the iPhoto database to no effect. I create a brand new iPhoto library, it provided the same error message. I tried logging onto one of the other users on the iMac, same issue.
I then exported a video from iPhoto and tried to re-import it, I get the same unrecognizable format error - even though the video originally came from iPhoto and played fine.
I deleted the iPhoto preference file and the cache file from ~/Library
I've run out of ideas. Help!

The video files that you are referring to are they bought from iTMS?
The new Video iPod supports:
"H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per sec., Low-Complexity version of the H.264 Baseline Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48 kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; H.264 video, up to 768 Kbps"
So make sure that the video that your dragging over are in those formats.
Any video you might have you will need to add to iTunes and select "Convert Selection to iPod" or;
If you want DVD to iPod: use Videora iPod Converter, DVD Decrypter (Google for them they are free) and see my earlier thread for more info.

How can I stop the buffering , unable to watch any videos. Please help.
All video content disappeared. I did a restart on my computer and everything was working again but it has come back. I don't know if i can see DVD video as I don't have an optical drive on this computer.

I recently upgraded to Lightroom 5 from 4 and could not import any video. But when I downgrade to LR4 it worked again. I've tried so many other solutions suggested in the forum but none worked including cleaning cache, install divix plugin, install 32 bit version etc. Finally - it's because I blocked LR5 connecitons in my firewall !!!
So simply allowed LR5 internet connection in my firewall settings and LR5 worked like a charm!

Can't import any video inAE CS 5.5
Just had AE installed and I can't import any video (.avi or .mov.) They show up grey and then if I try all files it says "it's a bad format or not readable." Two error messages about unknown exception and missing output plug-in show up when I opne AE. I have AE CS5.5, 10.6.8 Mac, QT 10 in applications file and QT 7.6.6 in utilities just installed today. I tried throwing out preferences but nothing seems to help. Plaese help me.
Run the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool and reinstall. Also make sure you get rid of Perian, if it's on your system...

Please help CS 4.2 will not import ANY video file
I've been working for days to get this fixed. Everything installs fine software wise and I am using a
Matrox RTX2 for capture/playback but Prem CS4.2 will not import any video file type.
My system is up to spec.
I've seen this problem discussed but none of the (many) suggested solutions have helped.
I've uninstalled and re-installed the OS and clean install multiple times and still I get "file format not supported" with EVERY file type.
Please help!

Welcome to the forum.
When issues occur with Matrox cards, updating its drivers often fix things.
If you create a non-Matrox Project, can you then Import AV files?

IPHOTO As a result of trying to import "selected" files, I am now unable to import any photo.

When I insert my memory card, the message I get is : Unrecognizable Format".
Help!See if you can upoad the files from the memory card to a folder on the Desktop with Image Capture or with a card reader. If you can then put the card back in the camera and reformat it with the camera. Take some test shots and try importing as you normally do again.

Please can somebody help - I used to be able to import mp4 videos converted with toast or isquint into itunes with no problem but it won't work with itunes 8 . If I try dragging the video files to my library they just 'bounce' back - have tried the import file option and thats no good either .

Thanks for your help! I was able to go to iMovie 9.0.9 and import video. I was still curious as to why it didn't work in version 10.0.2, so I contacted Apple tech support. They were't sure at first as to why it wouldn't work, so they had me delete iMovie 10.0.2 and then re-install it just to see if something had gone wrong when it upgraded. That didn't change anything. In the end, they determined that 10.0.2 doesn't support the Hollywood Dazzle DV bridge. But I have a workaround path from them that I will share so that it's possible to import to 9.0.9, then move it to 10.0.2.
1. Open iMovie 9 (finder/applications/iMovie 9.0.9
2. Import from Dazzle Bridge to iMovie 9, note which event you are importing the clips into
3. Close iMovie 9
4. Open iMovie 10 (probably in the dock)
5. File/Import Media...navigate to home(this was my name, on the left side of iMovie, under Favorites)/Movies/iMovie events. Find the event folder that contains your Dazzle clips (tip-try sorting by date modified to look at recent events.)
6. Select the clips and import. Click the blue "Import Selected" button on the bottom right.
You may get a message that some files cannot be imported. Click continue import. It's a little glitchy. It imports your clip, and also makes a copy of it, too. On the copy, the audio is normal, but the video is choppy. In any case, you would delete the copy, anyway.

Cannot import any video files.
I installed CS3 Master Collection, I tried importing a video file into Encore and Premiere Pro and it worked fine. That was 2 days ago, now when I try to import the same video file into either program the 'Import as asset' window pops up as normal but just sits there and does nothing. Then the program comes up with (not responding) and I have to shut it down. I have not changed or installed anything new on my machine.
Machine Spec:
Vista Ultimate 64 (fully updated).
Intel core2 duo E6750 2.66GHz.
4 gig OCZ DDR2 PC8400.
Gigabyte P35C-DS3R.
Nvidia BFG 8800GTS.
Creative X-Fi Extreme Music sound card.
I have since uninstalled CS3 and reinstalled it and I am still experiencing the same problem. I can import any other type of file (images, audio etc) I am only having this problem with video files.
Any suggestions?

-DioKeep in mind that Vista is good enough to boot your computer, loads a bealtyful GUI, wallpaper loads and mounts the desktop icons. After that the computer works fine. The clock is ticking on the side bar, pictures changes on the middle of this bar, some another gadgets loads and so on . After short period of time, the screen saver starts. Wow vista works great! This is all that vista is capable of. Our problems with vista begins when we click in something. Believe me, i have 26 years of experience with computers. Downgrade to XP64. Your CS3 will work without problems. I have a computer with quad core, 16Gbytes of 667RAM, quadro board, and even in this monster Vista do not works with a long sort of problems. After the downgrade, my problems dissapear. CS3 works very well.

Crashes when importing any video format
Hello! So I recently (Christmas last year) got a new computer
Windows 7 8GB Ram 64bit and well I installed Premiere Pro (Creative cloud) but there is a slight issue which is very annoy and should not happen at all
Premiere crashes whenever I try to import any kind of video in any kind of format.
This actually renders my video editing software useless and I really shouldn't be paying for a program that is not working.
I use to be able to run Premiere on a Windows 8.1 Laptop with 4gb of ram quite fine but now it doesn't.
I have done a very quick google search and have found little to no results and any results that I have found did not work for me.
So please, I implore you to help me fix this problem. Please.I'm having the same PremirePro issue (can't import pix or video) with a new Windows PC. Getting 3 AppData errors in the local Temp file: 1. WERInternalMetadata.xml 2. appcompat.txt 3. tmp.hdmp There's a different prefix to each of these files, but I don't think they are that important.
If anyone knows how to solve this and import my pix and video, please let me know. Thanks! -
Since upgrade to Iphone ios6 (4S), I can not import any videos to iPhoto or Image Capture
Hi there. I have had numberous problems with my upgrade to IOS6, particularly with the Camera/Photos. Two big ones: The camera does not orient itself properly when taking horizontal photos. You take a horizontal photo and it never rotates properly. So I have to go into Photo Shop and rotate each one manually. Sometimes it does not recognize horizontal from vertial when taking as well.
Also, I can not download ANY videos to iphoto or via Image Capture. The error I get for every video (both new videos shot after upgrade and those that date back to before the upgrade): Import Error An error occured while importing. The item ZZZZ.MOV was not imported.
I have all my software updates on both my phone and computer.
Any suggestions?I would try restarting you Mac if you haven't already. If you still can't get either iPhoto or Image Capture to work, you could try something else, like PhotoSync or PhoneView.

I would suggest using Premiere with the Quadro card. You can make that change under Program Files > Adobe > Premiere Pro > Right click on the exe and select Run with Graphics processor > High performance NVIDIA processor.
You can permanently change it in the NVIDIA Control Panel. Add Premiere and GPUSniffer in the list and choose High Performance NVIDIA Processor. Report back if it helps you.
Note: Don't forget to add GPUSniffer.exe

Suddenly unable to view any videos
I have a new iMac (about a week old) and suddenly, I can't view any video content. I have reinstalled Flashplayer numerous times and a window comes up saying the install was successful but I still can't view anything.
All video content disappeared. I did a restart on my computer and everything was working again but it has come back. I don't know if i can see DVD video as I don't have an optical drive on this computer.
I'll try another restart.
