Unable to import MPG-files in CS4

Hi
I'm using a trial version of Premiere Pro CS4, but I have some troubles with importing some MPG-files.
When I try to import them PP tells me that the file is not supported or dammaged. But they work fine in media players and Windows Movie Maker.
I have an example of a file here: http://dicksmock.dk/premiere/M2U00118.MPG (the clip has only a black screen and audio).
How can I import these files? It can't be right that Windows Movie Maker is able to do something Premiere can't.
Best regards

Ah, I got you.
The problem would be to find a legit version of CS4 for sale. It has been mentioned that some certified resellers did have copies that they were selling off. If purchasing from them, I highly doubt that Adobe would be willing to honor the same 30-day return policy. Also, be very careful that this IS a legit reseller with stock of CS4 on hand. With the 64-bit OS aspect of CS5, I can just imagine that the pirates will see a potential market for CS4 and work that scam. Just a guess, but would expect to see tons of CS4's on eBay, and would also guess that 99% were bogus.
Take care, and sorry about the lack of MPEG support for the trial. That might change, as you are not the only person to get "hooked" by the fine print. Most of us here feel that Adobe needs to do another type of trial, like a watermark. As has been mentioned, the MPEG issue is due to licensing restrictions for the MainConcept MPEG CODEC's and has been around for a long time. Rumors are that something may change at some point in the future.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Import MPG files in Premiere CS4. Mac Os X 10.6.

I installed the latest update Adobe Premiere (4.1). When I try to import MPG files Premiere shows error: "File video dimensions (width / height) too large". After that, such a message is issued when importing any video at all, until the closing of the program. Sometimes after the error the program hangs on exit and has to kill the process manually. Can I somehow fix the problem?
    Thank you!

By using material suitable for editing. PR likes MS DV AVI type2 with PCM/WAV audio at 48 KHz, stereo. If you don't have that material, convert first. Use Google to find converters.

  • Premiere Pro 5.5 crashes when importing mpg file

Premiere Pro 5.5 crashes when importing mpg file.
I can get the file to import if I first right click the file and tell it to "open in source monitor" then tell it to import.
When I do this it indexes the file. After it is done indexing is when I can then import the file.
Should I not just be able to tell it to import and it does the indexing?
These files that I am tryig to open were with Premiere Pro 4.

    Welcome to the forum.
What are the specs. of this MPEG file? Might be something in those, that is causing an issue.
    Good luck,

  • Unable to import .avi files from digicam

I'm unable to import .avi files from my finepix digicam. I get a message that says the files are unreadable. With the previous iPhoto version (v 06) I didn't have any problems. Any thoughts?

I agree with TD regarding Image Capture. I have the same problem with larger video clips and iPhoto 6. You can use Image Capture, choose "Download Some", select just the movie, and upload it to your Desktop. Ignore the blue Progress bar, as it seems to jump from zero to 100% with no real indication of the download progress. Be patient, leave it alone, and eventually the movie should appear on your Desktop. Once there, iPhoto should have no trouble importing it.
    Regards.

  • How to import .mpg files into FCE ?

I have succesfully installed the MPEG StreamClip & flip4mac into my iMac. So now I can both play wmv files on my iMac as well as importing wmv files into iMovie & FCE.
But now I have another problem:
    1) How do I play mpg files on my iMac ?
    2) How do I bring import mpg files into FCE ?
    Thank you.

QTPro gives you many more capabilities than the free player, but I don't think you need it to do anything you've described. You DO need the MPEG-2 Playback component. I'd start there, then see if you need any of the options provided by QTPro.
    Hi there,
I have purchased the MPEG-2 Playback component from the Apple Store.
I can now convert the mpg files to mov using the MPEG StreamClip.
However, I cannot playback the original mpg files using QuickTime Player. I can only playback the original mpg files if I click on the mpg file then goto more info & change open with MPEG StreamClip.
But how do I open with QuickTime MPEG-2 playback ? I do not even know where the OS installed the MPEG-2 Playback component to ?
    Thanks

You'll need to clarify your question. MPEG-1 or MPEG-2?
QuickTime Player X or QuickTime Player Pro 7.6.6?

  • Captivate 2  Vista unable to import audio files

    Hi
I have had an audio problem with Captivate 2 and Vista -
There is a hot fix to enable recording which works.I did that
... . but I am unable to import audio files.. even those that came
with Captivate 2 in the gallery give me the same error message..
unable to decode & import wav/mp3 file.
Does anyone have a solution!! Need to do a demo next week!!
    thanks
    phil

    Hi Phil
I don't suppose using Captivate on Windows XP is an option
for you? This would seem to be a Vista related issue. Captivate 2
may work to an extent on Vista, but it would appear this may be one
of the "gotchas" one may encounter when using it in this
    environment.
The good news is that Captivate 3 was announced today and
will work on Vista. I know this doesn't help you immediately, but
will provide an answer before too long.
    Cheers... Rick

  • How do I import mpg files made by an old Sony camcorder into iMovie 11?

How do I import mpg files made by an old Sony camcorder into iMovie 11?

I had the same problem. Here is a very easy solution that worked for me.
1- Open the .mpg video with QuickTime Player
2-Go to file/export/ and pick the "Ipad,Iphone,Ipod Touch & AppleTV" option
3-Save your movie with the option "ipod touch &iphone 3GS" picked
4-Confirm by choosing folder of choice to save it in
Now this new version of the movie should be able to be read in imovies.
    Hope that helps!
    Good luck.

  • LR 5.7 and Nikon D7200. unable to import NEF files.

I have LR 5.7 and a brand new Nikon D7200. I upgrades LR3.x to 5.7 and now i am unable to import NEF files. Is there a solution? did i do something wrong?

Though this is not productive, and to those on the thread, my apology, JimHessI have had the service for greater than a year and I am month to month  - so I would be surprised if there is a cancelation fee. With Respect To the 'do not get it' the camera is 2 days on the market, so yes, I do understand no support right now, but, as you stated in your earlier post, 'a couple of months' THAT is what I do not understand! I do not know if you work for Adobe, or just a user but that is where my comments started.
In My Humble Opinion 2-3 weeks, that is something understandable. Now, it is up to Adobe, a business, to make the decision of how many resources they put on this, and thus the timing. As a consumer the only 'vote' I have is my dollar!
The cloud market is great for companies that get a constant revenue stream to fund their business, verse perpetual licenses where they obtain lumps of business from upgrades. When they build a new version with enough value to drive their install base to move/pay for the next upgrade. To the consumer the value of the cloud, should be continues and timely enhancement and not waiting for long next release schedules. That is why over the next few years I will give more money to Adobe that buying perpetual licenses, the continues and timely updates.
I will let you have the last comment on this, as I am done on the negative side.
What is more useful is posts like trshaner who is showing novices like me how to continue to use the product through features in the product.

  • BUG: Unable to Import MP3 Files in Flash CS6

I am unable to import mp3 files of any kind in Flash CS6. Tried import to stage, import to library, Drag and Drop... no dice. Receiving a generic error message. Tried closing out and restarting, etc. - still not working.
    Anyone else having this issue?

    Yep that worked!
The "update" in the library would not update the content but the drag and drop worked fine.
Note: The path in the update dialog shows a relative path and after the drag and drop it shows an absolute path to the file
I also had an issue with the audio being changed from stream to event.

If you are unable to import mp3 files in Flash Professional CS6, ensure that you update QuickTime(7.7.1) and iTune(10.5.3.3) versions. This is necessary to import .mp3 files of bitrates higher than 192kbps.

    Yep that worked!

  • Trouble importing .MPG files to FCE HD

I'm trying to import .MPG files into FCE HD, but I just get an error message "unknown file".  The same happened when I tried to import to iMovie.  The footage is from a friend's camera so I don't know any more details.  The files are codec MPEG-2 Video, AC3 and 720 × 576 if that helps...
Would be grateful for any help!

    The files are codec MPEG-2 Video, AC3 and 720 × 576
You can't import this into FCE or iMovie, neither application supports MPEG2 video.
It would be best if you can find out & tell us the specific make & model camcorder your friend used.  And even better what settings he used in the camcorder when he made the video(s).
Beyond that, MPEG2 files generally need to be converted to QuickTime, probably using Apple DV PAL codec (based on your 720x576 frame size, which is a PAL frame size).   You can do this using MPEG Streamclip + the Apple QuickTime MPEG2 Playback component.   But be aware - it's important to know your geography because North America uses NTSC whereas Europe uses PAL so you can choose the correct codec when you convert the files & select the correct Easy Setup in FCE.

  • Import mpg file into Captivate

    Hi
I am using Captivate 1.0 and I know it does not support
importing mpg file. Would you please let me know the free software
to convert mpg video file to avi file? The latter one is supported
    in Captivate. Thanks a lot!

PPTX files sometimes don't import.  Save as PPT instead and try that.
