Unable to import ringtones to iTunes 10.6.1

Hi guy,
I have encountered a iTunes problem recently.I wanna sync ringtones to my iPhone 4 but I could not import any of ringtones to library > ringtones.
All the ringtones I could sync to my iPhone 4 before. They are m4r format and the playing time of them are less than 30 seconds.
I used the way that to drag the ringtones from desktop to ringtones library of iTunes, no response.
I clicked the 'File' menu > add file to library > choose the file location > open, still no response
I restarted computer, the problem still persisted. I am using windows 7.
However, I could import songs, apps, movies except ringtones.
Anyone who can tell me why and how I can solve this problem?

Sorry for the delay bnoir but "life" intervened.
No problem at all, Pamela. I've heard of these things called "lives", and on the whole I believe I approve of them.
Sorry to hear about the Windows reinstall. Fingers crossed in NZ for a resolution.

  • Unable to import videos into iTunes library

For the past few week I have been unable to import videos from my computer into the iTunes library using either the drag and drop or import file methods. I am using the latest version of iTunes and a second generation iPod touch.
I have tried using file formats: wmv, av1, mpeg & mp.4 but all refuse to load into the library. To test I have changed a file name of a video that was successfully loaded into the library a while ago and this file also refuses to load. I have also used 'Smart FLV Converter' to convert the files to 'MP4 for iPod' and this converted file also cannot be imported. All of the files play OK from the desktop.
Any suggestions as to how to overcomne this problem would be appreciated

I don't know if this helps but my iTunes was crashing everytime I tried to add a file located in the "My videos" folder. I moved the files to "My Music" Folder and had no problems. Seems like a simple/stupid solution but it worked for me. I still don't know why it wasn't allowing me to do it in the first place.

  • Unable to import CDs to itunes

I recently transferred my library from one computer to another, but I am now unable to import new CDs to the library. When I try I get an error saying " Error while converting the file 'xxxxx'. The required file cannot be found".
I cannot find this error in any of the support articles. Can anyone help?
    Thanks

You'd probably be better off asking this question in the "importing to iTunes for Windows" forum here.

  • Unable to Import Artwork into iTunes 9

Greetings from Cape Town. I am unable to use Coverflow, because I am unable to import Artwork. i Tunes gives error message when I try to get Artwork. Please help

Since neither iTunes nor Windows Media Player can import a CD, that would, as I said, suggest that it's a problem with the CD driver or the drive itself. The latter is less likely since your husband says that the drive can play a CD, just not import, but it's not impossible. I'd suggest you start by checking Dell's support site and see if they have any information on the problem or have any drivers for the CD drive that are more current and if so try those. One other thing you could try is to create a new user account in Windows, log in with that account, and try importing a CD. If it still fails. then it would definitely suggest a system-wide problem, either with hardware drivers or with Windows.
The last thing I can think of to suggest is to look for any sort of other audio burning software such as Nero. If there is any such, you can try uninstalling it and see if that makes any difference.
If none of that helps, you may want to talk to Dell technical support and see if they have any additional suggestions.
    Good luck.

  • I am unable to send ringtone from itunes

    Hi,
I have installed ringtone maker in my iphone 4s, from that created a ringtone. The same was opened with itunes installed in my laptop. But once i tried to save the ringtone to my laptop, itunes will stop working and close down. I reinstalled the itunes once again to my laptop, still the problem persists. Please suggest me how to fix the problem.
    Thanks

I just tried to convert another song to the mr4 and at the "Create ACC version" step, I get an error message "could not be converted because protected files cannot be converted to other formats".
The song was purchased through iTunes.  I have searched community and it seems I need to change how I download , i.e. change the size of the file but I could not figure out how to do that.  Since you were so helpful before, I thought I would ask you.  If I am supposed to start a new query, I apologize, I am new to this community forum.
    Best regards,

  • How do I import ringtones into iTunes 11.1?

I have changed the file to an .m4r but it won't import into iTunes that way. It only imported when it was an .mp3 file

    Hey thomasf6325,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you have recently purchased a new computer and wish to transfer your iTunes library to it. If you still have access to your previous computer (or hard drive), follow the steps in this article to transfer your library:

  • Unable to Import mp3 into iTunes

Hey Apple - Howe about a little help...!
I'm running iTunes 11.0.4. I am not able to see new CDs, in mp3 format, that I have added to my hard drive.  Lots of folks are having this problem.  This renders my Apple iPod, and to some extent my iPad, much useless.  What do I need to do to get this fixed?
    Totally Disgusted with Apple!

    Celt,
Are you talking about an MP3 CD?  If so..
    Close iTunes
Copy the MP3 files from the CD to your hard drive
    Remove the CD
Open iTunes and add the MP3 files to your iTunes library using File > Add Folder to Library

  • Unable to import new CD's in itunes

I have just got two new CD's for Christmas, and unable to import them into itunes. My older CD's import just fine. Is this something new on CD's now?
    Thank you.

    Troubleshooting CD ripping issues
The easiest thing to check is if it is just this CD.  Try another one.  If others work, then it is likely the CD.
Try an alternative ripper such as XLD or Max.  Even though you may not want that as the long-term solution it will at least indicate whether the problem is with iTunes or something else.
If other CDs and rippers do not work, it could be the drive itself, or the part of the computer running the hardware. For the latter some have found a SMC reset to work.

Apple Portables: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1411
If you think it is the drive, you can try a cleaning disc (about $10 from a computer store or media store) to get rid of dust.  I haven't had much success with these, though usually I am running some older machine on which I can expect a drive to die after 5 years of use.

  • Can't drag ringtone to itunes

Using Windows 7 and iTunes 10.7.0.21 I was unable to drag ringtones into iTunes. Whenever I dragged an m4r (ringtone extension) onto iTunes all I got was a slashed circle. After much fiddling and researching I found a way to get the ringtones into iTunes and into my iPhone.
Open Windows Explorer and search for "Automatically Add to iTunes" place the quotes in the search box so that Explore finds items with match all those exact letters. If you don't use the quotes Explorer finds items that have any of those words in them, it ORs the words. (I found two folders of this name on my machine so I had to try the following twice. On my machine the one that worked was C:\Users\My Name\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Automatically Add to iTunes)
Copy your m4r files into that folder.
    Start iTunes
Look in your Library/Tones folder and the files will be there
From the menu bar select Edit/Preferences and make sure Tones is checked
    Select your device (iPhone)
From your device's menu bar select Tones and make sure Sync Tones is checked and either All tones or check your Selected tones
On the bottom right, press the Sync button (you may have to scroll down.)
On your device, go to Settings/Sounds/Ringtone and they should be there.
    I hope this helps.

Right so i done exactly this and for some reason the "automatically add to itunes" folder created a "not added" folder, and then it further created another folder inside it named the time date i copy and pasted the ringtones in it with them then actually inside that one, so in short, they were decided by apple that they are not being added?
ways around this?!?!?! getting very annoyed at how easy this used to be not long ago!

  • Unable To Import Music

I've been unable to import music to Itunes via the import file to Library, or the drag and drop methods for the entire day. It's only just now stopped working, and I don't know why. Very rarely, it will import one song, but always into an album and not on its own. Can someone please help me? I have a lot of music to import, and I've tried everything to fix this.

It sounds like the files you are trying to import are Protected WMA files (e.g WMA files bought from an internet store or imported into Windows Media with protection). To get these type of songs into iTunes and then onto the iPod, you will need to burn them onto a CD then import this CD into iTunes, making sure to use the import settings detailled below for best capacity on the iPod.
If this does not seem to be the problem, read on.
Itunes needs to convert the WMA files before they can be added to the iPod.
    To do this:
    Open iTunes.
First go to the edit menu, select preferences, click the advanced tab, and select importing. For best song capacity on the ipod, make sure that the encoder is set to "Import using AAC encoder", and "High quality 128 kbps". Hit OK.
Then go to file menu, go to "add file to library" or if its a whole folder go to "add folder to library". Go through folders to find the songs (usually in "My Music" )
Select the song or songs you want to add, then hit open. To select more than one song from a folder, click the first one, hold shift, then click the last song you want to select.
A box will come up saying "one or more of the files you are adding are wma files",click ok and itunes will convert them into AAC format (this could take a while if you have a number of songs).
Now the files are in your iTunes library, you can put them onto the iPod.

  • Unable to play or import audiobooks in iTunes 12

Since installing the latest version of iTunes (12.1.1.4 x64) in Win 7 I have been unable to import Audible audiobooks into iTunes.  Also Audible books already in my iTunes library won't play.  When I try to play them I receive a message stating I must authorize this computer for my Audible account.  When I enter my name and password they are accepted, but the book selection does not play.  When I try again the same authorization message appears - an infinite loop!  Similarly on trying to import books I receive the same message for each section being imported, but after filling the info nothing is imported.
I have uninstalled and re-installed all of the iTunes components several times and I have tried deauthorizing both my computer and Audible account and then authorizing them again.  All to no effect.  My laptop is running iTunes 12.1.0.74 and has no problems at all.  Has anyone else encountered this difficulty?  I can't find 12.1.0.74 and I would like to install it.  The place where Apple has earlier versions doesn't seem to include 12.1.0.74.  If anyone can direct me to this version I would be grateful.
I have had other problems with 12 and wonder if it has introduced more problems than it solves.
    Thanks,
    Andy Birrell

My contact with Audible produced a solution very quickly.  Obviously the changes in iTunes 12 took Audible by surprise as well.  I quote below the solution as it was sent to me by Audible.  After installing the new version of Download Manager I found that everything worked as it should so didn't have to follow the last three instructions.
"With the release of iTunes 12.1 there have been reported issues with the automatic import feature for the Audible Download Manager which forces customers to manually import their titles. To address this, Audible has released an update for the Audible Download Manager. Please follow the steps below to install the update.
→ First ensure that your current Audible Download Manager is closed.
→ Click on this link and save the file: http://download.audible.com/AM50/AudibleDM_6.0.0.18_iTunesSetup.exe
→ Locate the file in your Downloads folder. Right click on it and then select the option "Run as administrator" and follow the installation process.
    Once that is done:
→ Head back to your library: http://www.audible.com/lib/
→ Click on download for one of your books.
→ Please allow it to download and check to see if it automatically imports into iTunes."

  • Itunes 11.1.5 unable to import cds

I have itunes 11.1.5 on a Samsung 550P with Windows 8.1 64bit, I was importing cds (successfully imported 2) and then on the third it took nearly an hour to import the cd and wouldn't play it when it was done. i have tried playing the cd on another device and it works so i know its not a corrupted cd, and a further two cds i tried after this (also following restarting the laptop and reinstalling itunes) were doing the same.
I have tried to run the itunes cd/dvd drive diagnostics but it freezes once i have put the cd in and pressed next.
I have also checked for updates to cd/dvd drive drivers but they're fully up to date.
Has anyone else come across this problem? Any solutions out there? Is it my laptop or itunes?
