Unable to import song names

When I put a CD into my CD drive and attempt to import into iTunes I get a message telling me that the song names for this CD could not be found online, do still want to import the songs?
When I go to Advanced > Get CD Track Names I get the following error:
CDDB Error. HTTP Processing Error
I am attached to the internet that is how I am writing this - and I have confirmed that the CD I am importing is on the Gracenote database. I also lowered my browser security settings (to low).
What's going on?

Importing song name problem =(

I am having a problem when i import new cd's onto itunes. Whenever i put the cd into the drive, the cd is recognized but the song names are all wrong i.e. they will be from the last cd i imported. Any suggestions as to how i can fix this

Unable to import songs or play audio cds

I'm having issues with iTunes on my PC laptop. I used to be able to import cds with no problem. Now when I insert an audio cd, the disk shows up on my desktop, opens in iTunes, and finds the titles. When I select "import", it acts as if it is importing the songs REALLY fast. When I try to play one of these supposedly "imported" songs from the library it shows it's time signature as 789:57:13 and won't play (skips to next song, then the next until it comes to one imported before this problem began) or gives error message "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close." It also no longer plays from an audio cd (skips through each song quickly without playing). Help!
If no one knows how to resolve this issue... is there an apple support phone number, a genius at a mac store or someone somewhere you could suggest who could help? (I'm well beyond the original 90-day support window.)

So i'm unable to import mp3's into itunes 11 now..
It says processing, and they should be there but they are not..
Restarted and tried several times but same out come.. getting annoying now.. Anyone having same problem? Any fixes?

Importing & Song Names

I just put a cd in my computer to be imported, it has the cd info on it, and the auto name option is on. It would have worked, but my internet was disconnected. I started to put the names in myself, and then found out that the internet was off. It will no longer put the names in because I already started them. Does anyone know how to reset it so it will get the information?

OK so you import off the CD into your PC iTunes? What format are you using (WAV, MP3, etc.)?
Then how are you copying them over to the Mac?
If you are importing as WAV or AIFF, then that information (artist, title, etc.) is not stored with the file itself but instead in the iTunes database. If the files are AAC or MP3 then that information should be embedded in the files themselves and carry over to the Mac.

I bought songs from itunes store but i can not get them downloded. What I have to do? I have this message showing under the title"download error. Tap to try"
And anotner message appears: Unable to download song, "name of song" could not be downloaded at this time . Have 2 choice tick done or retry but always message comes up after several try... Would be happy if someone could help. Many thanks!

I see this is very old post, however only as of a couple of months back i'm getting a very similar fault.
I run an iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Mini 2 (cellular) and a Macbook Pro - all using the same iTunes account for my iTunes Match. When the devices are connected to the home Wifi (SKY BROADBAND) not a single problem with the service - However when i attempt to use iTunes match on any device via 3G/4G the devices will skip songs 99% of the time and also not be able to stream previews from the iTunes store.
I find if i have one of the devices on 3G/4G and turn iTunes match off and back on again, it may be able to stream a few songs ok. However this won't last for too long, and before long the issue will return.
From a very broad perspective, you'd think that the issue is with the Cellular Service Provider (EE UK), but i've been in contact with their technical team, and are unable to find any issues on their end, as the phone and iPad are both connected OK to the internet via 3G/4G.
I'm a Technical Analyst by profession, and have tried adjusting all settings, and turning accounts off and back on in different orders to try and find a pattern, but i'm left completely stumped.
Does anyone have a resolution for this?!

Song names imported as "artist - track name" instead of "track name"

When I add a folder to my library (a folder which contains MP3 files which all contain complete ID3 tags), about 50% of the song names get imported as "artist - track name" instead of just "track name". If I click on any track which was imported like this, and right-click and select "get info", the track name shows up correctly in the dialog box, and it suddenly fixes the display on the listing (without me doing anything).
I could fix each song by clicking "get info", but I would have to do this for all my songs, which would take far too long. Is there any way to get iTunes to import these track names correctly? Or is there a way to refresh the listing, and have iTunes re-read the ID3 tags on the MP3 files?

To get the track names etc., when importing a CD, you have to be connected to the Internet.
This article explains why.
To get the info later, select all tracks (with the generic track names) of an album and choose 'Get CD Track Names' from the Advanced menu in the menubar.
Very often the correct information will show up.

Importing song/artist names to iTunes using the file or folder names

hello,
a friend of mine put all of his tracks onto a CD and gave me the CD to import to my library.
When I did this I noticed a convenient behavior which I have not been able to reproduce. iTunes automatically ID'ed both the song and artist name and separated them in iTunes to their corresponding columns.
when i do this, both artist and song name are lumped together into the song name column and i have to separate and cut and paste them out.
My friend put the albums in folders then a sub folder for artists and then inside that folder there were the song files.
How did he do it? I think it has something to do with using dashes or forward slashes or folders in the song file names, but I'm not sure how it works.

Created a copy of the files in iTunes folder .
But before you delete the files from the desktop ,
I suggest you check .
Finder > music > iTunes > iTunes Media
For iPhoto :
I do not use this software so I do not know but
I can assume it's the same thing as iTunes .

iOS 6 (which runs on the iPhone 5) requires iTunes 10.7, which requires OS X 10.6.8 or higher.
Upgrade OS X on your Mac.

Can not access song names online when importing cd's

since downloading itunes 7, when I try to import a cd an error message comes up saying 'The song names for this CD could not be found online'
I am connected to the internet and friends have been able to import the same cds with track names sucessfully. Has anyone else had this problem. thanks

i am having this same problem. i was able to get track info for all my cds but quite a few only came through for tracks 5-10 or some of the songs. quite strange and frustrating at that.

Today, after importing some other CD's in the regular way, all of a sudden, iTunes won't recognize the Eagles - "Hotel California" CD, the Eagles "**** Freezes Over" CD, "The Best of Roy Orbison" or "Milestones" by Miles Davis.
What happened? Anybody know?

We've gotten the same error at the same time. I guess we need to let this play out. In the meantime, I'm gonna update iTunes.

How to import songs by file name (not by song name)

I've got many files with different names yet they all have same song name (the website precisely!!!). When I import them into iTunes, all of them appear with same song name (such as www.apple.com). Is there anyway I can import them by file name as song name???

iTunes uses the id3 tags, not the file name to determine the information that is displayed. There is no way that I know of to change this. Are you saying the songs have the same title, artist name, and album name but they're different songs?
