Unable to install Adobe Story desktop app on OS X

Hey everyone.  I'm a recent owner of the Retina MacBook Pro and subscriber to Adobe Creative Cloud.
I'm having trouble installing the Adobe Story desktop app on OS X 10.8.2. When I go to the Story Plus web app and try to install the desktop app, the Air installer says something along the lines of "...the installer is damaged. Request a new installer from the developer."
Now on my previous MBP, this had never happened, and the app installed the first try. I've tried a multiple times to get this to work, but no avail. I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me get Adobe Story running as a desktop app.
Also, one more thing: attempting to log in to the Adobe support forums sends me into a redirect loop on my notebook. I ended up having to log into here on my iPad. Not sure if that's a bug or something on my side; thought it I should point it out.
Anyways, cheers and thanks to anyone who can help.

I see this link on the Adobe Story forum here http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1078357. Please post here in the Adobe Story forum and they will help resolve your issue.

  • Unable to install Adobe Story desktop application.

Okay, so just as the title says I am having trouble installing Adobe Story for desktop. This is what I have been doing:
    1. Going to the site and clicking install desktop application.
    2. Saying ok to the install.
    3. Then when open and save comes up I have tried both.
    4. Saying that yes I want to install the application.
    5. Then I press continue.
Then it always says this: The application could not be installed because the installer file is damaged. Try obtaining a new installer file from the application author.
I have uninstalled Adobe Air then I reinstalled it. It still does not work. Any help would be appreciated.

Can you mail us the AIR installation log file? It would help us to isolate the cause of this issue.
You can locate this log file by following the steps mentioned at this link:

  • Adobe Story Desktop App - unable to get past login

This problem is not present on all my home computers or laptops which leads me to believe this will be an issue with my computer.
On my 2012 iMac I was recently able to launch, login and work inside Adobe Story Desktop. Last night I went to launch the app and installed both the application and Air update, after that I lunched the desktop app and entered my CC login details, however once I do this the 'signing in' popup appears, then disapears and leaves me at the 'learn more' & 'sign in' screen. I can't get past this.
I have tried uninstalling the desktop app, restarting and reinstalling the app, but this has not solved the problem.
I have opened Story inside Chrome and Firefox on the same computer and have no problems.
I also tried using the desktop app on my laptop this morning and it still works, however I decided not to update both the app and Adobe Air as I was worried this was causing my the problem with the desktop app.
Any help on the matter would be welcomed.
    Thanks!

[Please do not try these steps if you are a free user]
    Hi,
I am assuming that you have remaned the 'com.adobe.adobestory' folder that is present inside 'ELS' folder and you are still facing this issue.
If yes, then please try these steps:
    - Quit Adobe Story if it is running.
    - Open Finder.
    - Press Cmd + Shift + G and press enter after pasting this location: ~/Library/Preferences/
    - Open folder 'com.adobe.AdobeStory.**some-random-number**'
    - Open folder 'LocalStore' and rename file 'offlineAccountInfoStorage' to something else, e.g. 'offlineAccountInfoStorage12'
    - Launch Adobe Story and try to login.
Let me know if these steps workout for you.
    Thanks

  • Install Adobe CC desktop app

I am an Adobe CC member and am trying to install the CC Desktop app. I down load it ok then run the installer. It asks me for my Apple id to make changes but then a pop up window appears asking me to give my Adobe id and password. Unfortunately this disappears again within a second and I cannot enter information.
    Any advice?

Install the stuff with sufficient user permissions in the first place and fix your user accounts.

  • Installing Adobe Story Desktop Application

    Trying to install, no luck.
Windows 7 64 bit. Air already installed . . . read on a forum to try a browser other than Chrome . . . still would not install.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

    Hi Aslanpro,
Did you have a version installed previously? I'd recommend checking within Programs and Features and uninstalling any prior verisons if they exist. After that, when going to reinsall choose the option to Save the installer (should be named AdobeStory.air) locally and try installing from there. If this doesn't work can you tell me what error message you get and when the failure occurs?
    Thanks,
    -Dave

  • Adobe story browser app won't work, desktop app in update limbo

When I attempt to use the adobe story browser app on Safari on any OSX Lion computer, Safari immediately crashes. When I try and use the desktop app, it downloads the update, then adobe AIR installer crashes because "This application cannot be installed because this installer has been mis-configured. Please contact the application author for assistance."

Please try after clearing the browser 'cache' and 'cookies' on Safari. For desktop app you can refer to http://forums.adobe.com/message/5132010#5132010

  • Adobe Story Desktop Application Won't Install

    Hi,
I just recently subscribed to the Adobe Creative Cloud CS6. I'm really interested in owning the Adobe Story desktop application and have attempted to download it by clicking the Install Desktop Application button. Unfortunately, all attempts have failed.
Upon clicking the Install button, I receive a pop-up explaining that I have to install Adobe Air for Story to work. If I click Yes, the window will then say the installation has failed and will ask to Retry. If I do this, the error repeats. How can I get this error to stop appearing?
Please note I have the latest version of Adobe Air already installed on my computer.

    Hi CBWriter,
Adobe Story went paid in May this year and we have now two flavours of Story - Adobe Story Free and Adobe Story Plus. The Desktop application is available to Adobe Story Plus users who value the offline capability of the product. Adobe Story Free users can continue to use the web version of Adobe Story.
We have upgraded your account to Adobe Story Plus for one day. Please login to Story and download/install the AIR application so that you can access your offline data and take them online.
    Thanks

  • Issues re-installing the Adobe CC Desktop app

For the last few months I was not able to log into my Adobe CC Desktop app. I would enter my credentials and the app would spin. then I would get a message saying that I was signed out. Today I decided to uninstall the app, restart my machine and then re-install the program. I have tried a few times, but the installer gets stuck right away and never moves. I am on a Mac running OSX 10.9.5 and I am not able to force quit the installation, so I am forced to restarted my machine. I have tried to install the app a few times, but get stuck in the same place every time.
Any ideas on what I can do?
    Thanks
    Matt

I tried solutions 1 and 2, but it still won't install. This is a work computer, so I don't have access to create new user account. I know my user account is not corrupt, because I just loaded some other software on it last week.
When I try to install the CC Desktop software it instantly stops and hangs. Here is a image of where it stops and hangs.

  • Can't install the CC desktop app (MacOSX)

I am signed in to the Creative Cloud on a new MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014) running OSX 10.10.2. This is my first install of CC on this laptop.
When trying to install an application, eg Muse or PS, I am prompted to install the CC desktop app.
Which I download and install. While installing, the installation just quits...
I have repeatedly tried to install, 11 times unto now. Tried restarting, etc.
Tried downloading the free trial as a non member, same result.
Tried as another account on my MBP, same result.
Who has a pointer as to what could solve this annoying error ? Someone at Adobe ?? Anyone else ?
    Thx in advance.

  • I just installed Adobe CreatePDF desktop printer, when I try to use from Word or Excel, it does not work.  The Adobe print queue says "error" in the status screen.  I have uninstalled and re-installed.  Any ideas of what to do next?

I just installed Adobe CreatePDF desktop printer on a Windows 7 home PC.  When I try to use from Word or EWxcel, it does not print.  The Adobe print device queue reports an "error" in the status column.

Adobe retired this Feb 17, 2014.
This app sent content to and got content from the web based services of "CreatPDF" and "PDF Pack".
These are subscription services out in "the cloud". When the app was live you had to be online and signed into your account.  The user forum for CreatePDF has a DOC that speaks to the app removal.

  • How do I get Adobe Air Desktop App to notify user that a URL text file has been updated?

How do I get an Adobe Air Desktop App to notify user that a URLRequest ".txt" file has been updated? via blinking system tray icon or something.
New to Air and need someone to point me in the right direction. I have been searching web for hours and probably not asking the question right.
I have a very simple Desktop App that just loads a text file from a web location into a dynamic text field at a set timer. it just repeats this action on the timer. right now every 5 minutes
What would the actionscript be to tell the Air App to look at the date or time stamp of the ".txt" file and notify user if its new?
    Thanks
