Unable to install an Epson paper profile: Unidentified Developer(!)

Hi guys,
Just bought an Epson 3880 printer and, after much research, selected and purchased a specific Epson paper. I downloaded the ICC profile and double clicked it to install it but got the following message: "Can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer."
Any ideas?
Thanks a lot,
Raphael

  • Unable to install Java 2 Platform Standard Edition Development Kit 1.4.2_11

I am unable to install Java 2 Platform Standard Edition Development Kit 1.4.2_11 and NetBeans IDE 5.0 on Windows 98. I get the following message:
Java 2 Platform Standard Edition Development Kit 1.4.2_11 cannot be installed on your computer because current account does not have sufficient privileges.
I am trying to install at home, no network, and as far as I can tell, there is no way to give yourself "administrative privileges". Is Windows 98 not supported anymore?

98SE is supported. See configuration requirements for the various versions.
Try downloading Java and installing it, then go to the NetBeans site and downloading it and installing separately.

  • Epson Paper profiles-location/deletion

I just installed some Epson 3800 "Professional Profiles". They found a home in two places. 1st on Lib/Printers/Epson/InkjetP2/IccProfiles/Pro38.profiles where they are in a cryptic "Package" form. They also went to Lib/ColorSync/Profiles/Epson Stylus Pro3800 where they are in a normal .icc with color space symbol form. I clearly don't need or want these in two places-do I?  Can I get rid of all the cryptic "package" versions and just use the ones in the ColorSync folder for everything?
I also want to get rid of many unneeded profiles so what comes up in the printer dialog has limited choices etc. I have 48 of these Package crypticlly labled profiles in the  first listed Lib/Printers/Epson/InkjetP2/IccProfiles/Pro38.profiles location. I cannot tell what they are for except for the 9 I just installed  from epson.   Any advice/help will be appreciated. Thanks.

    (1) Don't use "Lib" instead of "Library". (There are actually lots of folders on your disk named "lib".)
    (2) Don't delete anything in </Library>, unless you know precisely and exactly what it does and that you won't need it. Rule of thumb: If you need to ask, don't do it.
    (3) There's nothing cryptic about a 'package'. It's merely a type of folder (directory), and you can see its contents by ctrl-click/right-click and choosing Show Package Content.
    (4) As a rule, an Epson printer driver should give you the option of using either ColorSync or Epson's colour controls. It's usually better to have options…

  • How to load Epson paper profiles in Acrobat for Mac?

    Hi,
I'm currently testing different Epson papers to find the best type of my needs (Architectura drawings). I have downloaded the profiles from Epsons website (ICC Profiles) but when I open the print dialogue in Acrobat 8 for Mac, the profiles are not there, although there is some Epson profiles.
The link shows the settings and profiles (I can't seem to upload an image). The profiles are in 'coloursync' but Adobe doesn't see it.
    I'm on Mac OS X 10.6.3
    Thank You
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1055166/printer.jpg

I found it. I went into the Print dialog and under 'Color matching' I chose 'Colorsync' (instead of Epson colorcontrols) which brings up a list of all the epson profiles that I have made or have downloaded.
    Works Great!
    Thanks

  • Installing paper profiles in CS5

I am trying to install Hahnemühle paper profiles to print on my Epson R2880, but can not get them to show up in the Printer Profile drop down in the Print window.  I have gone to the paper web sites and picked the paper profile I need.  Then download to my new iMac and they don't show up in Color Sync or in CS5.
I had no problems in my old iMac in having them show up as a selection option after I closed Photoshop and reopened it, but can not get my new iMac to do the same.
    Please help!!--Steve

Check that the profiles are installed in the correct location as shown in the Choose Profiles dialog box which opens from LR. On 32 bit OS this is windows/system32/spool/drivers/color...this may be different on 64 bit OS. LR will only recognise RGB profiles so if you have CYMK profile these will not show up.Also check the box Include Display Profiles as sometimes paper profiles show up as display profiles for some reason.

  • Adobe 2014.2.1  Windows versions 7.  Problems with Epson R3000  ICC paper profiles

I've recently added an Ilford paper profile to my Photoshop.  The profile appears in workspaces and I can set the workspace to that profile.  When I try to print the profile appears when I set Photoshop handles colour management, but when I go to Printer Settings...... I only see Epson paper profiles.  Why can't I seet the Ilford profile to select it?

OK, so 24hrs later and problem solved.. I moved the printer and connected it directly to the i5 running 10.6.2, then downloaded the latest driver using software update. Everything is fine, and I've got all those options back for setting paper type, quality etc, Great!
Trouble is, now the old iMac Intel 24" wont print to the printer on the network.....

  • Printer/Paper profiles not showing up in Lightroom 1.3.1

I installed 2 new paper profiles from Red River over the weekend in XP Pro. Only 1 of them actually show up in lightroom to choose from. The one that can be selected works fine but I can't view the other one. I've tried uninstalled and reinstalling it. I can, however, see and select this profile in Photoshop CS and other applications. Lightroom seems to be the only one with problems. Does this point back to a red river problem or is lightroom picky about something I don't know?

I talked to LR today -- no help, told me to call Epson.
Epson advised me to go tp PRINT mode > RT menu > Print Job > Managed by Printer click this and choose other. Drop down menu appears and you can choose your profile. then back to print setting and the profile should show up there.
My profile did not show there -- I was advised that because I have Matte Black ink cartridge in the print that the Premium Luster will not show because PL will only print with Photo Black.
So I need to change the ink type and hopefully I will be able to print on the Prem Luster.
    ope this helps you.

  • Epson Printer Profiles and Mac ColorSync

I have had a consistent problem with PS CS3 printing darker than my calibrated monitor despite everything that I do with softproofing etc. Interestingly, when I print the identical image from Lightroom 2.2, the paper print is a much better match to what I am seeing on the monitor. I am beginning to wonder whether the difference has anything to do with the way these programs interact with ColorSync on the Mac. I am using an Intel iMac running OSX 10.4.11 and print with an Epson 2200 using the custom Epson paper profiles available on Epson's website. In both the Lightroom 2.2 and the CS3 I leave ColorSync set to Standard and allow LR or PS to manage the printing (No Color Management); however, when I open the Mac ColorSync Utility and examine the printer profiles there, it is using the standard Epson profiles that came with the printer driver rather than the newer ones (e.g., SP2200 Luster_PK.icc rather than SP2200 Prem.Luster1440.icc). Could this "mismatch" of printer profiles be causing a different result in LR2.2 and Photoshop? Should I change the profile in ColorSync so that it points to the new profiles?
    I'd appreciate anyone's help!!

Also try the Photodisc PDI target image download here
    http://www.gballard.net/dl/PDI_TargetFolderONLY.zip
    And remember:
The file (the document Source Space) is independent of Photoshop.
The Color Management System CMS, Photoshop, ONLY uses the monitor profile for one thing: To PROOF source file on the monitor (the monitor profile has zero to do with how the file prints).
The Color Management System CMS, Photoshop, ONLY uses the printer (target) profile Print Space for one thing: To PROOF source file on the paper (the printer profile Print Space has zero to do with how the file looks on the monitor).
    In other words:
The printer can PROOF (print) the source file faithfully regardless of how right or wrong the monitor is set up, and
The monitor can PROOF (display) the source file faithfully regardless of how right or wrong the printer is set up.

Why/how are you using ColorSync in an Adobe-Epson print workflow?

  • Unable to install Epson ICC printer profiles in Lion (access privileges message)

I upgraded to Lion and cannot install Epson ICC printer profiles. When I try to install, the installation is halted with the message that I do not have enough access privileges for this installation. Yes, I am the admin (I checked, as I know this is a known issue). I have the current updates to the O/S and the Epson driver. Specifically, these are printer paper profiles for an Espon Stylus Photo R2800 printer.

The ownership of the /Library/ColorSync directory and its contents changed in Lion.  You acutally do not have enough priviliges as admin to write to that directory anymore.  EPSON's installer does not have the ability to ask you for your password to escalate the admin privileges to root.  You should report this to EPSON and insist that they update their installer.
There is a way to get the files installed, but it is pretty involved.  I will give you the general idea but USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.  There is a risk you could break your system and make it unusable.
With those admonitions in mind, here's the general outline.
    1.  Go to /Library/ColorSync.  Highlight the folder and do a Get Info on it.
    2.  Under the Sharing & Permissions portion, give "everyone" the ability to Read & Write.  Then choose to have this applied to all enclosed items.
    3.  Run the EPSON installer(s).  The profiles will now install.
    4.  Change the ownership and permissions for all the installed items useing the Terminal--
For the EPSON folder the command is 'sudo chown -R root:wheel path_to_EPSON_folder'
For each and every item in the EPSON folder, the command is 'sudo chmod 644 path_to_item'
    5.  Open Disk Utility and Repair Permssions.

  • How to install Epson ICC profiles using Photoshop CC?

How to install Epson ICC profiles ussing Photoshop CC on Mac?

    Danny,
Just stop and think for a moment. Firstly, it's not Rocket science to produce an icc profile, and does not involve the profile having to physically 'fit' into a pre-formed item such as the razor blade analogy you used.
Secondly, If the likes of Epson and HP did produce printer profiles for all makes of paper, can you imagine how much more product they would sell. Printer companies are currently missing out on substantial amounts of income at the moment because the cost of their inks is more expensive than gold! Thus, the third party ink manufacturers - although not producing an ink as good as the original - are earning large sums of money and once again this is income loss to the major printer manufactures.  Can you imagine what would happen if certain vehicles would only run on  a specific fuel? I don't mean Diesel or Petroleum, but different manufacturers, Shell, Texaco, Murco etc.
At the end of the day the only person who is adversely affected by this business model is us, the consumer.
I really don't think they need you to be standing up for them Danny.

  • Epson 2880 Print Paper Profiles

    Hi Folks,
I just bought an Epson 2880 printer and also downloaded some Icc paper profiles for it from Epson. On install(double-clicking) on the zipped files all but one of them went through and install process, and now show up when I select printer profiles from within Photoshop CS4. The other just unzipped a file that was put into my downloads folder and says, "colorsync" on it. Where should this Icc profile be placed so it shows up properly in my CS4 profile selections?
    Many thanks for any assistance.
    Jim

John-Thanks, I thought that was where I should be putting them. After I wrote this note I put the icc profile into my color sync folder and it does show up from within PS 4 as it should.
    Thanks again for your help.
    Jim

  • How do I install Paper Profiles (.icc)?

I am trying to install a paper profile I downloaded from Hahnemuhler .(PhotoRag) ...
.icc profile selected that matches the printer and paper
I copied the .icc profile to what I think is the right place: C:\windows\System32\spool\drivers\color
I right clicked the profile for PhotoRag
    I clicked Install
I restarted LightRoom and Photoshop ...
I looked under all paper profile options (incl. Other) ...
    NO PHOTORAG ...
What do you think I left out or missed?
    PC
    Windows 7
    Photoshop, Lightroom (latest versions)
    Much appreciated ... Chuck

you can see the icc profiles when you convert your color settings from RGB to CMYK.
    Therefore, you can try in Photoshop menu;
Edit - Convert to Profile and then you can select the profile which you've loaded to your Computer.
    Hope that works.
