Unable to install ARD 3.0 on Mountain Lion

I recently went from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion on my MacBook and now I cannot install Apple Remote Desktop 3.3 from disk. I need to install it before I can run the ARD update 3.6.1, which is the version for OS X 10.8.

Try a soft reset.*#7370#, 12345 (this is the default nokia code). Soft reset deletes all your phone data, and restore the original settings

If you don't have the Apple ID and password, how did you get Mountain Liomn in the first place? Without the Apple ID and password, you'll need to buy it to download it.

I am installing the latest update for Mountain lion (the iTunes update) . The screen went light gray, with no progress bars, and has remained that way for several hours. Help!

In this case, hold the Power button until your computer turns off, and then, turn your Mac on again. It looks like your computer got stuck during its restart, so it shouldn't harm anything on your computer

Back up your present iPhoto library. Install the new version of iPhoto. When you run it for the first time it will want to update the library. When it's finished you should be good to go.

  • Unable to update iPhoto and iMovie since Mountain Lion and Mavericks

It has been over a year since it happens, I was hoping it could be solved after i updated to the new mavericks system..
"This update is for an app downloaded with a different Apple ID. Sign in with that Apple ID and try again. "
It has not been bothering me since the mountain lion, because although iphoto can't be updated, I was still able to use them and save all my photos.
Now after the new system update, iPhoto can not be opened unless it is updated
I do not want to lose all my pictures and videos that i have been saving there for over more than a year.

It means what it says: The apps were bought or installed by someone with a different ID to yours. So, in effect, these are belong to that person and you can't update them.
This can arise if you've bought a second hand machine, or if you've bought an open box machine, or even if the Mac was set up for you by the shop where you bought it. Or, if you used one Apple ID to set up the machine and are using a different one now. Of course, it can also be caused by installing pirated software.
    So, what to do:
Where did you get the machine? If it was second hand, or open box then you need to get back to the vendor.
If you used a different Apple ID then sign in with that one.
And, if the software is pirated then delete it and purchase legally.
    Other than that:
Contact App Store support. There's a link on the right hand side of the App Store Window. They're the only ones who can sort out account issues.

  • How do I install a new copy of Mountain Lion or Lion?

A few years ago, I bought a used Mac Pro and tied it to my Apple account that I had for my iPad. Great. It's got Lion on it.  I cannot upgrade to Mountain Lion so the Apple Store won't let me buy Mountain Lion.
I just bought a used Macbook.  I want to reinstall the OS onto a brand new SSD.  When I boot from a Lion install disk, it gets to the point where it's about to install, then says that I have to use an account that has purchased Lion.  I cannot purchase Lion since it's not available and I cannot purchase Mountain Lion since my Mac Pro cannot upgrade.  I also cannot create a brand new Apple account since the new account has also not purchased yet.
How do I go about installing?  Turning off Wi-Fi makes it complain that it needs to communicate to the Apple Store so that's a no-go as well.

I'm in a similar bind, except complicated by the fact that I don't understand nor can I find the mysterious "Recovery HD" or "Boot Partition".
Sorry, my bad.  I'm brand new to Lion and Intel Macs, but not to Macs.  I've been using Macs since 1986, and my most advanced Mac until recently was a PPC G5 Quad
The similarities with the OP are that I have just bought a Mac Pro 1,1 (original 2006 model, actually built in September of 2007).  It came with Lion pre-installed but no install media (flash drive), and I know that it couldn't have possibly shipped with Lion in 2007.
I have not been able to find a way to buy Lion either, and the machine cannot run Mountain Lion.
Where I am at a worst disadvantage, is that I haven't been able to wrap my mind around this mysterious "Boot Partition" and Recovery HD concepts.
I see nothing in the Finder or Disk Utility that remote resembles another volume or partition other than the boot drive.  Yet System Profiler shows me this under Serial–ATA:

The text in bold maroon letters is what has me baffled.
I've Googled and conducted Forum searches for 48 hours and can't get my head around this.
Do I have such a boot partition or Recovery Disk or not?
If I do, how and where do I find it and access it?
If I dont, what is the System Profiler telling me under Serial-SATA?
How and where can I buy a legitimate copy of OS X Lion that I can legally install on my otherwise admirable performing G5 Quad 2.66 GHz with 13 GB of RAM?
I would be most grateful if anyone can point me in the right direction,
    Thanks in advance.

  • How do I install a clean version of Mountain Lion (10.8.3) on a new SSD?

I want to put in a new SSD drive to improve my performance and also re-install OSX.
How do I put Mountain Lion on a new disk?

First, put the SSD into an external enclosure.
Install or Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the SSD drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your SSD drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and size) from the
left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window. Select one
partition from the dropdown menu under Partition Scheme.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on
the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button. Be sure to point the installer to the SSD and not your startup drive. Click on the Install button.
Remove the SSD from the external enclosure and install it in the computer.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • HT4818 after installing boot camp 4 on mountain lion " Missing operating system"

    Hello
I hade a small Windows 7 partition , so after updating to mountain lion , I wanted resize win partition .
I made an image of it , then deleted win partition from utility disk , ( wrong idea )
I didn’t notice that boot camp  could erase win partition , anyway I have tried several times , and always after reboot boot camp
    I get the same
    Missing operating system .
If I boot from dvd install win or if i boot from the boot win partition.
hd and partitions looks OK to utility disk
Any idea to fix the problem ?

I presume that you've followed the instructions for sideloading the iMac Windows drivers into your install via USB stick? (wasn't aware the EFI recognized the SD slot as storage on boot. Now i know)
I always found more success in just slipstreaming the drivers and install.xml file onto a custom Win7 DVD rather than the USB approach when trying with my Late 2009 27" iMac. The Win7 installer needs that enclosed .xml file in the driver package to tell it where to find the drivers so that they be loaded when the Win7 image extracts itself.
If you're using mountain lion, then you should be receiving the proper Win7 driver set. If you wanted to create a custom image, then you can use an ISO file, the driver package and disk utility to make something you can use. Either that or you learn what edits your install.xml file needs to point the installer properly and check it manually.
I don't know what links you have so i'll just include everything:
Installing boot camp on a Late 2009 iMac:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3173
Direct link to Late 2009 iMac-specific Windows drivers.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL995
I'd try a USB stick and the iMac-specific driver set. It should steer your insolent windows installer correctly.
    Hope this helps.

  • If you've installed the Mac OS X Mountain Lion and want to restore your MacBook to factory settings, what do you do?

Havinig a lot of problems with my MacBook since I've upgraded to the Mac OS X Mountain Lion program. Can someone tell me if it's possible to reset my computer back to factory settings?

Follow these instructions step by step to prepare a Mac for sale:
Step One - Back up your data:
           A. If you have any Virtual PCs shut them down. They cannot be in their "fast saved" state. They must be shut down from inside Windows.
           B. Clone to an external drive using using Carbon Copy Cloner.
              1. Open Carbon Copy Cloner.
              2. Select the Source volume from the Select a source drop down menu on the left side.
              3. Select the Destination volume from the Select a destination drop down menu on the right
                  side.
              4. Click on the Clone button. If you are prompted about creating a clone of the Recovery HD be
                  sure to opt for that.
Destination means a freshly erased external backup drive. Source means the internal
                   startup drive.
Step Two - Prepare the machine for the new buyer:
              1. De-authorize the computer in iTunes! De-authorize both iTunes and Audible accounts.
2, Remove any Open Firmware passwords or Firmware passwords.
              3. Turn the brightness full up and volume nearly so.
              4. Turn off File Vault, if enabled.
              5. Disable iCloud, if enabled: See.What to do with iCloud before selling your computer
Step Three - Install a fresh OS:
         A. Snow Leopard and earlier versions of OS X
              1. Insert the original OS X install CD/DVD that came with your computer.
              2. Restart the computer while holding down the C key to boot from the CD/DVD.
              3. Select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu; repartition and reformat the internal hard drive.
Optionally, click on the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass.
              4. Install OS X.
              5. Upon completion DO NOT restart the computer.
              6. Shutdown the computer.
         B. Lion and Mountain Lion (if pre-installed on the computer at purchase*)
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because
it is three times faster than wireless.
              1. Restart the computer while holding down the COMMAND and R keys until the Mac OS X
                  Utilities window appears.
              2. Select Disk Utility from the Mac OS X Utilities window and click on the Continue button.
              3. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the left side list. Click
on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
              4. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on the Security button
and set the Zero Data option to one-pass.
              5. Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
              6. Quit DU and return to the Mac OS X Utilities window.
              7. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
              8. Upon completion shutdown the computer.
*If your computer came with Lion or Mountain Lion pre-installed then you are entitled to transfer your license once. If you purchased Lion or Mountain Lion from the App Store then you cannot transfer your license to another party. In the case of the latter you should install the original version of OS X that came with your computer. You need to repartition the hard drive as well as reformat it; this will assure that the Recovery HD partition is removed. See Step Three above. You may verify these requirements by reviewing your OS X Software License.
