Unable to install BootCamp extras into Windows

I am trying to run the BootCamp setup for once Windows XP is installed. I get this message...
This package requires a newer version of the Windows Installer. Do you want to update your system?
When I click yes I get...
The required resource 'UPDATE' is missing.
The program then quits. Any suggestions?

Hi Shaun,
sounds to me like you are trying to install XP that has not the neccessary Service Pack 2 (SP2) integrated.
The BootCamp setup guide expressively says that the SP2 is needed.
Please check your XP install CD to see if I am right.
If so, you can slipstream the Service Pack 2 into your XP install CD and create a new XP install CD that includes SP2.
Follow the process described here: http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxpsp2slipstream.asp

  • Unable to Install Photoshop CS5 on Windows 8

I'm unable to install Photoshop CS5 on Windows 8.  A copy of the installation log is listed below.  The first time I tried installing, I had Norton 360 enabled, right-clicked the DVD-ROM drive and selected to execute the installer.  It failed at about 5%.  Then, I uninstalled Photoshop CS5 and uninstalled Adobe AIR, disabled Norton 360, ran the Creative Suite Cleanup Tool, and then rebooted back into Safe Mode.  This time, I browsed the DVD-ROM drive, right-clicked on the set-up.exe file and selected Run As Administrator.  Same thing as before.  It failed at 5%.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Thanks.

  • How to install bootcamp drivers on Windows 8?

    Hello,
Today I decided to install Windows 8 onto my Mac Pro running 10.8.5 in order to play games on Steam.  I started BootCamp assistant and made a 65GB partition for Windows 8, and when I tried to install Windows I unchecked the top box (not sure what it said now).  Now I have a Windows computer, I CANNOT get back to OS X.  The Mac Pro will not boot into OS X, it just goes straight to Windows every time.  I've read that there should be some place in Windows to switch back, but I cannot find it.  I tried holding down the option key upon boot up at the gray screen, it still goes straight to Windows.  I tried holding command R at the boot up screen, it goes straight to Windows.  HELP!!  I picked the 60.5GB partition to install on, could it have somehow erased my OS X partition?  Is there a way to install bootcamp drivers from Windows?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jared

[Enable Bluetooth functionality after a clean installation of Windows 8|http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2C03FI0001R04.htm]
If a clean installation of Windows 8 has been performed, Bluetooth is not present and does not work on your notebook. It is necessary to install two driver components manually to activate the Bluetooth functionality.
    - Toshiba System Driver
    - If your notebook is equipped with an Atheros or Realtek WLAN card with Bluetooth, you have to download the Atheros or Realtek Bluetooth Filter Driver
    - If your notebook is equipped with an INTEL WLAN card with Bluetooth, you don't need to download any filter driver

  • Unable to install Elements 12 on Windows 8.1

When I try to install Elements 12 on Windows 8.1, the install fails.  It says it needs DirectPlay, but according to Microsoft, that has been depricated.  I'm caught in a vicious loop trying to get Elements 12 installed on my PC.  What's up with that?

Hi I am unable to install itunes on my Windows 8 64 bit PC, can you help please

    Many thanks.
the message I get says unable to remove old version of itunes
    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Unable to install BootCamp 3.1 on Windows 7

Hello, I have had a MacBook for a long time now, it is an IntelCore2Duo. I have recently installed Windows 7 and the CD with the drivers included with the laptop only works for XP. I downloaded BootCamp 3.1 which, in theory, works with Windows' new OS, but it asks me to install BootCamp 3.0 beforehand to update it to 3.1. The problem is that I haven't been able to find the 3.0 version anywhere. My question is: how can I update the drivers? I am only interested in the keyboard and mouse compatibility, the rest of the drivers are already installed by windows without a problem. And if I am forced to use BootCamp, where can I find the 3.0?
    Thank you in advance

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
the BootCamp Drivers 3.0 are on the OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard Install DVD.
Since your signature states "OSX 10.6.4" I assume that you have such one 'lying around'.
Just insert the DVD while in WIndows and the Driver setup should start automatically.
The 3.1 Driver download is indeed an update only and only works when the 3.0 Drivers are already installed.
    Regards

  • Unable to install Boot Camp and Windows 8.1 on Mac Mini

    Hello,
My computer is a late 2012 mac mini with fusion drive. OS is OSX 10.9.1. Also an apple external optical drive and a Windows 8.1 full install DVD. I attempted to install Boot Camp and Windows 8.1 and failed.
I ran Boot Camp Assistant and first problem was when it rebooted the computer - I got a text message that said the OS was missing. After a while I tried holding down the Option key while rebooting, then I got several choices to boot from - I chose the windows disk, and windows installation started.
I was eventually given a list of 6 or 7 partitions to chose from, to install windows into. I  settled on the one marked BOOTCAMP. It seemed the best guess. But the installer said that it could not install on this partition. Something about the wrong format or EFI or boot partition(s)?? In fact, the installer would not let me install into any of the listed partitions.
I restarted Boot Camp and it allowed me to remove the boot camp partition and revert to OSX only. Thanks for that!
My questions: is Windows 8.1 supported with my configuration? I know the FAQ says it is not. If in fact it is, did I do something wrong?
    Thanks,
    Doug

Poking around, I found an installation manual which was downloaded to my USB drive with the boot camp windows drivers. It says that when I reached the point in the windows installer where I'm given a choice of partitions, I should choose the one marked BOOTCAMP, and format it. Which I didn't think to try before. So I tried again, using Boot Camp Assistant from the top.
Failure again. This time, when the computer rebooted, I selected the Windows icon as before, but I got a text message saying that the boot manager couldn't be found, and a dead stop.
I also found that on the option-key reboot disk selection screen, I could eject the windows install disk and reinsert it. When I did that, I got the Windows boot icon and another icon labeled EFI boot. So I also tried that icon, with the same result.
So, I'm doing exactly what I did before (I think), but now the windows installer won't start.

  • Can't install Bootcamp, stuck in Windows XP

Hey everybody, I recently got a MacBook Pro with OS X Lion. I partitioned the hard drive and successfully installed Windows XP. I tried to install Bootcamp, but I get an error message saying that Bootcamp can only be installed in Windows 7. How can I get back to OS X Lion? I don't have any Bootcamp files because I can't install. The Computer is only showing the partitioned hard drive. Please help!

The usual way is to reboot your Mac while holding down the Alt/Option-key until the Boot Selection screen is shown.
Choose your OSX volume with the cursor-keys and hit Enter.
Once in OSX use the BootCamp Assistant again to delete the BootCamp Windows partition and revert back to one single OSX-volume.
Then go to System Preferences - Startup Volume and set your OSX to be the default.
Apple has stopped support of Windows XP and Vista with the release of OSX Lion and BootCamp 4.0
