Unable to install CS3 w/o other software first?
When installing CS3, error informs me I need other software before I can install this upgrade. Then when trying to install recommendation, difficulty in installing that as well. Mac 10.6.8 HELP!

When the menubar appears select Terminal from the Utilities menu.
Enter resetpassword at the prompt and press RETURN. Follow
instructions in the dialog window that will appear.

Unable to install CS3 Web Premium on Vista
I recently purchased CS3 Web Premium. When I try to install it, it fails. The message I get is - Error 1310.Error writing to file
C:\Config.Msi\43361.rbf. Verify that you have access to that directory.
I am running on Vista Home Premium - Service Pack 1.
I turned off User Account Control and I have reset the ownership and permissions for the ProgramData folder as directed in the forum.
Still can't load the software. One thing I find strange about this message is that I don't have a Config.Msi folder. I even tried creating one but that didn't help either.
Please help!I still have not been able to get this resolved completely. However, I have been able to get the error 1013 from popping up.
I had originally started off doing these steps from Adobe's site : http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/401/kb401528.html however I had no luck with any of the 3 solutions. I then found this link : http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-compatibility-mode/ and this seemed to have taken the error 1013 from popping up.
However, now when I go to intall it...it will run through the whole installation process which takes 30 mins!!! To only tell me that all the programs were unable to install and to finish. I thought I was getting somewhere with this and then another road block. I can't believe I've now spent 2 days on this going on three.
I also had downloaded some scan program that states they can get Adobe Software installed and take away the errors by cleaning my system. Wait I'm confused here because my system is BRAND NEW. This program also cost like 40 bucks. I had contacted them wondering how on earth they can claim such a thing on a brand new computer...and that there "scan" had shown my brand new laptop with thousands of errors!!! ???? !!!! They only answered that I needed to buy their software to find out...obviously skipping that option.

Last resort will to call support but after reading all the forums I'm dreading the sound of it...someone had spent 6 hours on the phone with not results only to have NO working programs instead of the pre-version they had in working order. Also I'm not sure that I'll be getting any help...it sounds that you need the most recent version.
If this does not work...I'm seriously considering sending back my brand new laptop back in that it was the ONLY reason why I bought the thing was to be able to work while I was away from home. Apparently, I won't be able to do so...or buy a whole new program or license which to me sound rediculous in that I've spent just like everyone else on here the amount for the software and was told that I could have it installed on two computers as long as they were not being used at the same time. Understood but not seem to be working out that way. -
Unable to install v 4.6 desktop software. error:installing sonic update manager
I have tried to instal "Desktop Manager 4.6.0 B15 - With Media Manager" but unable to instal sonic media manager on separate computers. Problem occurred with roxio manager continually trying to install and forming constant 'loop' which I couldnt escape. Operating system was windows xp with SP3. Ran sonic isum_hotfix.exe and then used windows installer clean-up. Presently, have been unable to backup handheld (Bold) and same problem on two separate computers. Any help would be appreciated as I am a computer novice.

Unable to install new version of Nokia Software Up...
I opened NUS today and was told there is a new version available. I accepted downloading it, however the installer at one point gave the message "Error 1714. The older version of Nokia Software Updater cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group.".
What I tried to get around the problem (with no results):
- I followed this procedure; after I ran the MSI file, I ended up with a very similar error message about an older version not being able to be uninstalled
- used Nokia PC Suite Cleaner, and manually deleted the files that were unable to be deleted by the program
- cleared the temp folders
- restarted my computer
Can anyone suggest what else I can try to make the NSU installer work?If you have installed Microsoft Installer v4.5 (WindowsXP-KB942288-v3-x86.exe) then uninstall it. Use good uninstaller to uninstall that HotFix because Windows inbuilt Add/Remove programs does not show this HotFix as installed program. Try this and tell me the result.

Unable to install volume controls / battery status software on A22m
I have a rather old ThinkPad - a A22m 2628-TSU - that I just recently reformated and installed with Windows XP.
I'm now trying to install the software that'll let you adjust the volume with the volume buttons and that'll show the batteries status and am having some difficulty doing so. I would have thought that Keyboard Customizer Utility for Windows 2000, XP - ThinkPad and ThinkPad Power Management driver for Windows Vista, XP, 2000, Me, 98 SE - ThinkPad would have done the trick, but alas, it appears that they do not. I ran the *.exe that I downloaded, which created a C:\DRIVERS directory, and I then ran the setup files within each of the newely created directories, but that didn't help. So what will help?
Also, unrelated to this... whenever I try to visit lenovo.com, in Firefox, on that computer, the computer freezes. It doesn't do this in Internet Explorer and lenovo.com is the only page I've found that causes this problem in Firefox (well, the whole computer freezes, but it only happens while I'm using Firefox). I know this is a short in the dark, but... any ideas?You need to install the Hot Key driver from the system utilities file matrix. (You may also need the on screen display utility also?)

Unable to install purchased apps on other Mac devices
Did the App store policy recently change? When I purchase software on App store, I've always been able to install the software on my multiple Mac devices tied to my Apple ID. I purchased some software this morning on my MacBook Air, but now I can't install this software on my Mac desktop system. It says it's installed already, which is only true for the laptop.
Is one still supposed to be able to install Mac software on multiple Mac computers using the same user ID?....Hmm...I'll check that out. But this is strange. I've only installed the apps so far on a completely separate computer -- my MacBook Air. My Mac mini upstairs doesn't have these apps installed already. Strange...I'll do some digging as I'm sure I'll get this figured out somehow when I have more time to research further.

Unable to connect to database via other software.
I have narrowed down all the problems i am having to Oracle XE. I have written a bit of software which uses Crystal Reports. The crystal reports work in the software and attach to the database and get the results when the software is installed on a machine which has Oracle XE installed (full database not just the client) even if the database the crystal report actually attaches to is not on this machine.
If the software is installed on a machine with only the Oracle XE client installed on i get connection errors every time i try and get the Crystal Reports to run in the software.
What files do i need to have on these client machines to get rid of these connection errors?Please ... don't make us guess.
At the least, give us a hint what the messages are. Cutting and pasting from the actual session would be best.
Right now, I am guessing you use Windows and that you have only tried connecting to an Oracle database that runs on Windows. But that is a guess.
I'm also guessing that you have not set up the Oracle 'tnsnames.ora' file (or used any other naming resolution mechanism) on the machine with crytstal reports and XE.
I have about 93 other guesses I could make as well. Many of which are not useful. -
Re installing Mac OS and other software
I am in a major mess. I bought a Trackpad but Apple store forgoe to mention it needed Snow Leopard. I bought Snow Leopard and then my MS Entourage would not work properly. Tried various fixes but in the end decided to go back to Leopard but firstly bought a 1 Terrabyte external drive and copied everything to it.
I reinstalled Leopard but I have lost all my settings and information such as email addresses and bookmarks for Safari. As I am talking about years of built up settings please tell me how to recover. I would like to upgrade to Snow Leopard eventually but back to square 1 would do nicely right now!Without detailed info, we can't be of much help. Only you can tell us what is on the original & backup drives, so please take the time to reply with more complete info about that.
For instance, what folders did you drag & drop to the 1 TB drive? For instance, did you drag over the root level "Users" folder or individual user home folders in it? Did you drag over all the other visible root level folders like "Applications" & "Library"?
You say you had 4 user accounts. Did you do the drag & drop copies while logged into an admin one? Do you now have that same account on the Mac or another one?
Refer to Mac OS X 10.4, 10.5: About installation options to see if this jogs your memory about which install method you used. If you did an Erase and Install, note that you would have had to set up the Mac all over again. Did you do that & if so, how?
If you did an Archive and Install, there should be a "Previous Systems" folder at the root level of the Mac. Is there such a folder? See Mac OS X: About the Archive and Install feature for more info about what files & folders should be in it. You can tell if you used the option to "Preserve Users and Network Settings" or not by comparing the list of moved folders in the article to what is now on the Mac.
If you did an Archive and Install but did not choose the preserve settings option, see How to get files from a previous home directory after Archive and Install for how to do that. -

I recently bought a Palm Tungsten E2. I have been unable to install the Universal Wireless Keyboard software that came with the E2. Went online and downloaded the version 1.13 UWK and that would not install either. What did I do wrong?
Post relates to: Tungsten E2For Vista that version will not let you install programs. Good news though is we have a version you can. Go here, http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/windesk62.html and install this on top of the version you already have. There is going to be a few changes on the desktop, there is no quick install, but the install tool.
Once you have that done just double click on keyboard and it will ask you your hotsync name and sync and your done.
Oh as a side note the check if this is your solution is only if the answer solves your original question.

What is the answer here?That is a hardware message, which is telling you that the hardware/firmware inside the CPU is missing a required element
Since I don't know anything about a Mac or Mac OS, this "could" have something to do with compatibility with the OS version you have... but I would take it at face value and say your CPU is missing internal commands that are needed for CS3 -
