Unable to install Cumulative Update 2 for SCCM 2012 R2
Hi,
I am trying to install the CU2 update for SCCM 2012 R2 and I am getting the following error during prerequisite checks:
Server update status: This update applies to product version 5.0.7958. The installed version on this computer is 5.0.7804.1000. This update is not applicable to this computer.
Console update status: No serviceable configuration manager role was found on the local system.
Can anyone provide me some guidance or thoughts on how to get to the correct version to install this update?

The CU2 you are trying to apply is for SCCM 2012 R2.

Is there a list of recommended hotfixes or updates for SCCM 2012 R2 agents? Things like .Net or WMI updates.
I am seeing the occasional agents lose connectivity, and I want to make sure I have a complete or recommended list of non-SCCM hotfixes before I move forward.

AndyTo my knowledge there aren't really any kind of recommended hotfixes to apply before a client installation, except for the prerequisites (that the client installs by itself). But as a best practice, always make sure that a client is up to date when it comes
to patches.

Unable to install Cumulative Updates Post-SP2
Hi guys, i have same problem, after installation of SP2 I can not install any more CU, what should i do now? I have tried to install CU a later but did not work.

I have deployed the current month patches to the machines. But, some of the machines are failed to install.

I am going to check WSUS IIS log file. I will keep you posted with my findings.
I dont know how to confirm whether the client is talking with wsus server or not. But, I could see some more errors in softwareupdates related logs,

We can download the updates to a removable disk, then copy the updates to these servers.

Installing SQL server for SCCM 2012 local vs on its own server (primary site enviorment only)
Hello,
When building a primary stand alone site server does Microsoft consider it best practice to install sql locally or on its own server. Is there an official statement from Microsoft suggesting this?

Phil BalderosThere is no official statement either way from Microsoft as both configurations are fully supported. Generally speaking, it is easier to collocate SQL on the same system as the Primary Site so long as the server meets the hardware recommendations.
Among the trade-offs are reduced network traffic vs avoiding a single point of failure for the site itself. Since the CM site license also includes the license for SQL, licensing is not really an issue. -
Unable to install firmware update for onelink pro dock
I have a brand new OneLink Pro Dock that I am trying to installI am using that with my Thinkpad X1Got the driver software installed. Restarted the laptop.The software driver seems to be installed. I see the icon in the taskbar. It shows status as pro dock attached.Now I am trying to install the firmware updateBut getting an error message that says - "Cannot detect the ThinkPad OneLink Dock.Please ensure that the dock is connected to your computer and a monitor is connected to the Dock, I can't seem to find a solution for this. Please help. Thanks
This seems to be a commercial product. For the best chance at finding a solution I would suggest posting in the forum for HP Business Support!

How to install Cumulative Update for SharePoint 2013?
I'm currently running on a single server instance of SharePoint Server 2013 RTM (15.0.4420.1017) and Project Server 2013 (no sure if CU's for sharepoint will affect this).
I would like to install SP1 on my SharePoint server. Does anyone know of any in-depth step by step guides I could follow?

Warning in log after updating SQL server when installing cumulative updates
Every time I install cumulative updates for Lync 2013, when I run the command to update the SQL database which is
Install-CsDatabase -ConfiguredDatabases -SqlServerFqdn SQLLYNPROD1.domain.local -Verbose
I get the two warnings below in the log. The update works OK and I don't have any issues. I get a warning just for this database for the database itself and the log path. Can't find anything on it searching. Any idea where to start looking

but a bogus path of
\\SQLLYNPROD1.domain.local\E$\CsData\BackendStore\(default)\DbPath\rtcxds.mdf for data and
\\SQLLYNPROD1.domain.local\E$\CsData\BackendStore\(default)\LogPath\rtcxds.ldf for logs is being supplied from somewhere to the install program.
Fortunately, the install program knows enough to ignore the supplied path and take what it is given from SQL. Just trying to figure out where this supplied path is coming from. It could be anywhere. As I said, needle in a haystack. -
Cumulative Update 4 installation for SCCM 2012 R2
Hi all,
This is my first time installing a CU update on SCCM 2012.
We have an environment with 15 Servers, 1 is a Primary and the other are Site System Servers.
Would I need to install the CU4 update only to the Primary server? or would I have to deploy the CU4 to the other 14 Site Systems Servers.
I've been reading the following

Failed Install of Cumlative Update 1 for SCCM 2012 R2
When installing Cumulative Update 1 in my test lab (with no internet access), the setup goes fine until I get to the part where the wizard says "Create Software Update Catalog" and then it fails with an error. When I re-run the setup the
wizard skips to the parts that were already updated and goes directly to the same part and fails. The failure occurs at the creation of the software update catalog.
I have been searching the web, but have been unsuccessful in finding a solution to my problem. I am wondering if it is because my test lab does not have internet access or something permission based regarding the SCCM network access account. I
am kind of at a loss right now and any assistance is greatly appreciated!

Here is the error from the cm12-r2cu1-kb2938441-x64-enu log file located in the %windir%\temp directory. The same file on the root of C has also has the same error. I have been searching the web for possible solutions all day, but have came up

I have update my primary server with cu2. Rebooted it when requested. Now everything appears to work except Application Catalog. I am getting HttpSendRequestSync failed errors in sms_awebsvc_control_manager and SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER. Permissions
for the temp folder and the 2 service folders do have local service and system with full control. I reregistered .net 4 with aspnet_regiis -i -enable. Rebooted and no change. application pool is running. The install logs said it is
working. SQL is happy. I have reinstalled the two Application Catalog service points varous ways and they always come back with warm fuzzy logs stated they installed.
When someone tries to use Application Catalog the ServicePortalWebSite.log always produces the following errors:

i have already installed KB2956159 CU.

If you are using SharePoint server 2013, you need to install updates package for Server, i.e. KB 2956166.

After instaling the update for OS yesterday (saturday 7.10.2012) my macbook pro will not start. The instaling proses start but stopp after 2-3 minutes. I have started mayby 10 tims know but it stops every time. Help, its just a monts ago my iMac hard fail
Actually it sometimes gets a little further, the display will dim and the pointer will appear and then whoop it will turn off. if i do a verbose start up, it will finish all the steps, the white screen will appear and dim and then it will turn off.

MadhanThe process of deploying non-security updates and security updates are the same.
As a side note:
To reduce the numbers of required updates, you can also download service packs, and other updates (msp files) and copy them to the update folder of your Office installation source. Then they will be installed as part of the Office deployment process.
