Unable to install drivers

Help please!!!  I am unable to install the drivers for my new droid incredible phone.  It does all the prompting to install the drivers and I go through the steps, insert the cd but it doesn't install them!!

Don't waste your time with the CD that the phone came with. It is useless.
To be able to set up the HTC Sync, follow these instructions, if you are using Windows 7 32-bit (I don't know how the phone reacts with other OS versions)
Open up the Main Menu (The Icon to the left of the Phone button)
Settings
Connect to PC
*******UNCHECK "Ask me"
Set Default connection type to "Disk Drive"
Turn phone off
Plug phone into computer
Turn phone on
Be aware, though, that the first time you do that, it will take a few minutes for everything to settle out. Just let the phone do what it needs for about 5 minutes, then check the top bar on the Incredible, to see if there's anything going on.
The nice thing is that once you do that, you don't need to do it ever again. 2 "AutoPlay" menu's should show up (1 for internal storage, 1 for SD card).
Once you get that straightened out,  open up the ~6.6-ish gig drive, and run "HTC_Sync_2.0.40" on your computer. That will allow you to set up HTC Sync on your computer, so you can sync your contacts and calendar from your phone to your computer (and vice versa)
This is only my 2nd day owning the Incredible, and I'm liking it so far. Just wish the bloody 3G Hotspot feature was free, and not another stupid $20/month. That's why I loved my pre-Google Maps update Omnia. Didn't need any tethering.

  • Unable to install drivers for Intel 1218-V LAN.

Yesterday I built a new computer with an Asus Z97 board, which has an integrated Intel 1218-v LAN.
All of the drivers installed correctly from the drivers disc in W10TP, except for the LAN. The error given is that an Intel(R) Adapter is not found in the computer.
Attempting to install the drivers in compatibility mode (I tried XP through 8.1) all failed.
Attempting to run the installer as administrator failed.
Attempting to download the installer from Intel rather than Asus failed.
Attempting to let Windows find a driver from available offline drivers failed.
Plugging in a USB<-> Ethernet dongle to get the computer online, and then letting Windows search online for updates/available drivers failed.
Manually installing the driver from a list of drivers (Device manager -> Unknown LAN -> Update Driver -> Browse -> Choose from a list -> Intel Corp -> Intel 1218-V) will force install a driver, but will end with the error that the device
was unable to start, and will still show flagged in device manager, and of course we are unable to go online. (I also tried the 1217 series on a whim, but that also failed.)
I formatted and installed Win 7 on the machine, and all drivers installed normally, including the LAN.
I notice a couple other people have mentioned this same problem, but the question keeps getting closed out when a moderator suggests something that I have listed above (likely because nobody is willing to wait on an answer when their Internet is not working.)
    Please advise.

    DonPick,
Your link has resolved the issue for me, but I did run into a few hurdles. The steps I took to install the drivers are as follows:
    1: Download PROwinX64 executable from Intel. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=23071
2: Your instructions said to extract the files, but of course the self extractor cleans them up too quickly, and the /f argument suggested by Intel did not work for me. I used 7-Zip to extract the files onto a thumb drive.
3: Device Manager > Right click the LAN > Update Driver > Browse my computer > There are a slew of folders once you extract from the .exe. I found success pointing to the PRO1000 folder alone. Hit next and I am golden.
Thanks for your help. Hopefully this will be resolved in later builds. It's awfully difficult to troubleshoot driver issues when you can't get online to download/research fixes =]

  • Unable to install Drivers on Windows 7

    Hello!
So, I have a MacBook from late 2009, I believe, but I've since upgraded my OS to Snow Leopard, and as such, have Bootcamp 5. I partitioned my OS to run Windows 7 Pro without issue, but i had to download an earlier version of bootcamp support software to get the drivers to work. I'm all the way back at 4.1 now, but when i try to run the setup, I get an error message that reads, "Boot Camp x64 is unsupported on this computer model." I've managed to install most of the drives manually, but the ones for my trackpad and mouse and iSight camera and so on don't work at all, even though I've installed them. Did i do something wrong, or am I not back far enough and need to download even earlier support software?

His post indicates that he has a 2012 MBP, which would not have come with Snow Leopard. Also, the drivers on the Snow Leopard disk would not be compatible with Windows 7.
Download this software package and install it from within Windows:

  • Windows automatically ejects my OS X disc; unable to install drivers

I've just installed Windows XP using Boot Camp. I've successfully gotten through the installation and am able to start and run Windows. I'm at the part where I'm supposed to insert the OS X disc so that drivers can be installed. However, whenever I insert the disc, after several seconds it's automatically ejected.
The disc is a 10.5.4 retail copy. I've also tried using the Snow Leopard update disc, since I didn't know if that included the drivers, too, but that disc is also automatically ejected. I do not have access to the OS X disc that came with the computer, but 10.5.4 is newer than what came with this particular computer (a 15.4" MBP bought in Feb. 2008, about a month before the last revision of non-unibody laptops were rolled out).
I have successfully installed Windows XP (from the same Windows XP CD) on this same computer in the past, using, I'm very certain, the same 10.5.4 retail OS X disc to install the drivers. I'm not sure why it's not working this time, if it's a problem with the disc, the drive, or something else. I understand that Apple doesn't really provide a method to get those drivers other than installing them from the OS X disc. So I'm at a bit of a loss on how to proceed.
I do have the OS X disc and it is readable in OS X itself. Is it possible, perhaps, to copy the appropriate files from the disc, while in OS X, onto the Windows partition, so that I can reboot into Windows and update the drivers from the copied files rather than from the OS X disc? If so, what do I need to copy from the OS X disc?
Or is there some other workaround I should try first?

I too am having this issue. I originally installed Vista using Boot Camp and used the OSX install disc that came with my Macbook Pro to install the Apple drivers.
I just removed the partition last night and have now installed Windows 7 using boot camp. I can read the disc on my regular PC just fine - but Windows on my Mac keeps on ejecting the disc.
However, I have had huge problems with this Macbook disc drive. I think the disc drive is the sole reason that I would never purchase another mac. I hate it. It's noisy and unreliable. I constantly have to share disc drives off of other computers to run discs.

  • Unable to install drivers for my HP office jet 6100

I have an HP office jet 6100 air printer and cannot get it to print from my HP computer that runs Windows 7 64-bit, my ipad, or my iphone 5.  A message on my computer says that Windows 7 is not compatable with the printer. I tried to download the printer drivers but they would not install.  Can you tell me what to do to get this printer to work.  I am very, very frustrated and unhappy.

    Hi,
I've inclued a link here to the most recent driver downloads page for the officejet 6100.
In order for your printer to print from your iPhone, it will need to have wireless capability and be connected to the same wifi network as your printer.  I've included some guidance here on how to connect your iPhone.

  • MSI pc54g2 wireless pci card - unable to install drivers

I have just purchased a wireless pci card (MSI PC54G2) and the Billion 7402VGP and am now trying to install the two. My problem (so far) is with the pci card ...
I have followed the manufacturers install instructions but continue to get the following message each time the drivers try to install
"There was a problem installing this hardware
    Network Installer
An error occurred during the installation of this divice
    The data is not valid"
I've since searched the net for answers (no luck); gone to the MSI site and downloaded the latest software (still no luck); searched various forums and removed and reinstalled the card several times (again no luck).
The closest(?) I've come to anything is that some pci cards require pci slots with v2.2 not v2.1. The MSI details for this card does not say anything about this, however I'm running a P4 Intel D850MV board which from what I can find is V2.2.
Does anyone have any ideas that may help?
    many thanks in anticipation

    Hi:
In order for me to provide the drivers you need except for the two I posted for you, you will need to click on each device needing drivers and post the hardware ID for them.
If you do not know where to find the hardware ID, please use the guide at the link below.

  • Ti4400 Video In, unable to install drivers

I'm back. After trying to uninstall the 1.1.6 WDM drivers and backtrack to 1.0.8 because of capture problems (white bar across capture screen and lots of screen blinks), I can't install *any* capture drivers.
Whether I install 1.1.6., 1.1.2, or 1.0.8, I get the same problem. It runs the setup, tells me I have to restart, I restart, it gets to the login screen, pops up the "Unknown hardware detected", "Found Drivers for A/V Crossbar/WDM Capture" and then *blink*. Blue Screen of Death, it reports "VXD NTKERN" error. It goes back to the desktop, but only a small bit is visible in the center. Then it shuts down. Restarting does the same thing. Even replaced the ntkern.vxd file from the original setup files to see if it was corrupted, but no go.
I've tried installing the latest MSI ti4400 card drivers, the Nvidia latest beta Detonator drivers, and even backtracked to version 27 of the detonator drivers. The only thing that changes is occasionally the error message reported is a black screen before it goes to the desktop that says "configmgr error. reboot windows", followed by a power-down.
I'm running an Athlon KT133 1.9Ghz board, 512 mb PC133 RAM, 2 80 GB hard drives(maxtor, WD) and a soundblaster Live XGamer card.
    Any suggestions?

  • Unable to instal VOX USB 2.0 drivers in WINDOWS XP Prof. SP2

    Hi,
I am unable to instal drivers in Windows XP Prof. SP2 for VOX USB 2.0. When I instal drivers from manufacturer's CD, instalation tells me, that it cannot instal some update for XP SP1. But I have SP2, so it should be OK. Then, after computer restart, I connected VOX and windows could not recognize it and asked me for drivers. I tried to instal drivers manually from the cd, but windows always tells me, that it cannot find driver on CD. I tried to download latest drivers from MSI website, but I had the same problem with it. What should I do? I am unable to use the TV tuner
Could anybody write me exact procedure how to instal it, please please!
    Thank You very much.
(I have tried to instal it on another computer with Windows XP Prof. SP2 and it did not work also. The same problem.)

Yes, my system has USB 2.0. It is P4 2.4GHz Northwood, motherboard: MSI 648 Max, 1GB of DDRAM (333MHz), MSI GeForce 4 MX 460, SoundBlaster Live! player 1024, pci card with aditional USB 2.0 ports (NEC chipset), SIS 900 pci NIC, 2x WesternDigital Caviar 1200JB, pci IDE controller SiliconImage 0680a (harddisks are not connected as RAID), DVD-ROM Pioneer, DVD burner LG GSA-4163B.
I have tried to connect VOX directly to USB port on motherboard and also to NEC USB pci card, but it did not work anyway.
I have disconnected all USB devices from the computer, except the mouse.
Windows is updated from MS Windowsupdate website.  I use Windows XP SP2 firewall and Microsoft Antispyware beta and antivirus software (I have tried to turn them off during the TV VOX installation, but it did not help).
And I  also use power supply for TV VOX.

  • C50-A-1DV Windows 10 Unable to install DTS Sound

Hello, after upgrading to Windows 10 (Which the software upgrade page reports as supported), I am unable to install drivers for DTS Sound, which was installed before I upgraded, as the installer comes up with "This product does not support DTS sound processing", despite the fact it worked fine with Windows 8.1. Is there a fix/different install for this, as I am unable to play sound on my laptop now.

  • Unable to set up printer when installing drivers.

My office uses a HP Deskjet 4620 wireless printer. And we just ot a new computer, so we tried to connect the printer to the computer via wireless.
The computer was able to detect the printer in Device and Printers. And it shows up in the Devices and Printers. As we have not installed the driver for the printer, we ere unable to start printing. So we went online to the HP website to download the drivers for the printer. We started with the basic driver. But when insalling, and after choosing wireless mode, we saw the 'checking network environment' bar fill' and it told us to plug in the USB. we refused and since the printer is alreay on the network, where other computers are using it at the time, we chose the ' rinter is already connected' option. The printer's wireless is lighting with a blu light, so we chose 'printer is connected' option, which told us to input the printer's iP address. So we did, but after pressing 'NEXT', it said that the driver is unable to find the printer.
We have rechecked the ip address, which is the one displaed on the printer.
We have tried printing with another PC, the printer works fine.
We have tried plugging in the USB cable, but even when the PC detected the printer, the setup is not able to find the printer, as the 'next' button was greyed out even when attempting to set up while to connecting via USB.
Windows was able to detect and attempt to install drivers for the printer, but the drivers installer was unable to add the printer.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
Please click the wireless icon on the printer and locate its listed IP address, be sure to clarify the exact IP address, subnet mask and Default Gateway of the printer.
On your PC keyboard click the Windows logo and the R keys simultanly, then type CMD into the Run dioalog and click OK.
Type IPCONFIG and click on Enter.
Locate the IPv4 information of your PC (you might need to scroll up).
What are the IP Address, subnet mask and Default Gateway of your PC?
What happens if your type the printer's IP into your web browser? can you access the pritner homepage?
What security software you have installed on your PC?
Say thanks by clicking the Kudos thumb up in the post.
