Unable to install final cut pro on mac pro computer

Hello,
I started to use my new MacPro (Please see specs. at bottom of Page) and tried to install Final Cut Studio but never succeeded. I never can go beyond disk “apple loops for soundtrack pro.” the application “installer” quits unexpectedly each time. Does anyone has had the same problem? I would truly appreciate any help on this matter.
Thank you,
sandrine

You'll be needing the univeral version of FCP (FCP
5.1) to install it for starters.
Might clean the disks... if that fails and you do
have the Unversal version, Call Apple. Could have a
bad disk, and new install issues over the phone
support are free. 1-800-myapple.

I am traveling with my macbook pro and I forgot to install final cut express and quicktime pro before I left. How can I in a way download them for free on my laptop from where I am? I need them and don't want naturally to buy them again!!!
    Thank you

Assuming you purchased QT Pro, you can always download it again at no extra charge by logging in to your Apple account.
Regarding FCE, there is no way to download & install the product.  You need an original FCE install disk and your FCE serial number.
Final Cut Pro X (aka FCPX) can be purchased & downloaded from the App Store.

  • Can I install final cut express on a second computer?

Can I install final cut express on a second computer?

The FCE license permits you to install FCE on 1 Mac desktop + 1 Mac laptop provided you own and use both computers.  You are not permitted to install on 2 laptops or 2 desktops.
    From the FCE license:
    2. Permitted License Uses and Restrictions.
    A. This License allows you to install and use one copy of the Apple Software on one Apple-labeled desktop computer and one Apple-labeled laptop computer so long as both computers are owned and used by you.
If you are not the owner of the second Mac then an additional license is required for it.
The fact that there are 2 stickers means nothing.  It's just 2 stickers.  The intent was for you to put them in different places so that you hopefully don't lose both stickers.

  • Trying to install final cut on my macbook pro. HELP!!!!!!

    hello
i have a macbook pro. i am trying to install final cut. when i put the disc in and follow the prompts, it tells me that my computer no longer supports this power pc application. if i download os x mountain lion, will i be able to install final cut on my laptop? i think the problem has something to do with something called rosetta. but im not totally sure. does mountain lion have anything to do with rosetta?

What version of Final Cut do you have?
There are versions that are Intel, but the installer is a PowerPC app. I have Final Cut Express 3.x and it is working on Lion and ML. If you have a working version of Final Cut on a Mac with Snow Leopard, you can manually copy all necessary files from there to your new Mac - that is how I got it to work (my installer is PPC also). Following are the instructions that I followed (although they are for deletion, it does not matter - it gives all the locations, so I just copied the files to an external and put them in the exact same spots on the new iMac):

  • Unable to install Final Cut Studio 2.0

I had the previous version of FInal Cut Studio and just purchased Final Cut Studio 2. I chose to uninstall Final Cut Studio first by dragging all the studio programs to the Trash figuring I didn't want to chance having two versions of Final Cut Studio on my computer.
I then went in to install Final Cut Studio 2. It allowed me to install the items such as Motion Content, LiveType, Audio Content, Studio Pro, etc. The option for selecting Final Cut Pro was greyed out and said skip. I don't know why but it's like it already thought it was on there and would just upgrade it. I tried it several times but always had this same set of options.
I went on then and did an install of Final Cut Studio hoping that when it came to installing it would actually work right. Well it installed all the supporting programs but not Final Cut Pro. How can I properly install the whole suite?

The FinalCut Suite 5 I'm running is misbehaving so before I install the new FinalCut Pro 6 Suite, I'd like to uninstall all of FCP Suite components and _all of their settings and customizations_. How do I make sure the new install is _absolutely clean and nothing from the previous installation effects it?_
    Thanks,
    Uri

  • Question: best Hardware set-up for final cut univ. and mac pro

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has used final cut universal with their mac pro and can recommend a hardware set-up (Processors, memory... ) they found best adapted for it.
    my mac pro:
    Processor Name: Dual-Core Intel Xeon
    Processor Speed: 2.66 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 2
    Total Number Of Cores: 4
L2 Cache (per processor): 4 MB
    Memory: 2 GB
    Bus Speed: 1.33 GHz
    thank you
MAC PRO   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Final Cut Studio/video editing requires all four parts of a system…
    1) Processor performance
    2) GPU performance
    3) RAM
    4) Hard drive performance
… to be working in tandem. If any one of these areas a caught short then the system as a whole is disproportionately affected. It's one of the downsides to video is that everything needs to be working as well as it can.
So, what I would recommend for you is the following setup as your goal is something like…
    Mac Pro 2.66GHz
    6GB RAM (4 x 1GB + 4 x 512MB - I'm presumng you already have the 4 x 512MB)
ATi X1900 XT graphics card (or better - depneds on what's available at the time)
2 x Western Digital Raptor 150GB RAID 0 for boot and scratch
2 x Maxtor MaXLine Pro 500GB RAID 0 for data
Any further eSATA storage requirements for cloning, backup and data
    Not cheap but should scream.

  • Final Cut Studio 2 (Mac Pro Or iMac)

    Hi,
I am new to macs and I have not yet bought one. I need FCS2 for video editing but I was wondering if the new iMac with 4gb of ram and 1TB storage would be ok or should I go for a Mac Pro with as close specs as possible.
    Regards
    Kenneth

I would stick with the Mac Pro option. You can save some money by buying a refurbished model from the online Apple store. This is what I did with my G5 tower. You still get the same warranty as a new one all of the accessories are very complete and exactly like new the only difference is that the box and firmware indicates the computer is a refurb. When you get into editing you will want to expand your capabilities with better capture devices, additional storage, etc. The iMac will cramp you.

  • Unable to install Adobe Air on a Mac Pro OSX 10.5.8, HELP!!!

    Hi!
I'm hoping someone could help me out.  I have an older macbook pro (2006) and I'm trying to install Adobe Air, but haven't had any luck.  Initially, all looks great and installation seems to be going smoothly until I click "Finish" on the installation window and then another window pops up that reads:
"An error occurred while installing Adobe AIR. Installation may not be allowed by your administrator. Please contact your administrator."
This is so frustrating especially since it already showed me a "installation complete" window just seconds before!
In addition, I recently purchased CS5 Creative Suite 5 Design Premium and I haven't been able to use some of the applications because I need AIR.
I'm VERY new to ALL of this, so I need all the help I could get.
    Thanks!
    - Malaya

    Hi Chris,
    Thanks for helping...
When I downloaded the zip file and then tried running it it gave me an error message (something about permissions violation?) and then this popped up:
    tell application "Finder"
        do shell script "test -d /Applications/Adobe || mv /Applications/Adobe /Applications/Adobe-Backup > /dev/null 2>&1 &" with administrator privileges
        do shell script "chmod -R ug=rwx,o=rx /Applications/Adobe > /dev/null 2>&1 &" with administrator privileges
        do shell script "chmod ug=rwx,o=rx ~/Library/'Application Support/Adobe' > /dev/null 2>&1 &" with administrator privileges
        do shell script "chmod ug=rwx,o=rx ~/Library/'Application Support/Adobe/AIR' > /dev/null 2>&1 &" with administrator privileges
        do shell script "chmod ug=rwx,o=rx /Users/Shared/Library/'Application Support/Adobe' > /dev/null 2>&1 &" with administrator privileges
set MyName to do shell script "whoami"
do shell script "chown -R " & MyName & ":staff ~/Library/'Application Support/Adobe/AIR'" with administrator privileges
    end tell
I must warn you that I do not know any of this language, so please feel free to explain things to me like you would to a 4 year old.  =)
    Hoping you can help...

  • How can I install Final Cut Studio 2 on my new MacBook Pro with Lion?

I just purchased and received a new 15" MacBook Pro (non-retina) last week. I need to install Final Cut Studio 2 on this computer. I have researched this and found that I need to install Rosetta from the Snow Leopard DVD in order to do this. This is the first Mac I've bought ( although I've been working with them for years), so I don't have a Snow Leopard DVD. I am a high school teacher and we use FCS 2 for my classes so buying FCP X is not a viable option for me since I teach FCP 6. The iMacs we use in school run Leopard and were never upgraded to Snow Leopard (budget cuts and all), so I can't even borrow one from my district.
Does anyone know how I can obtain Rosetta? Or another way to install this without it?
    Thank you ! :)

There is no way to add Rosetta support because it is not supported by OS X Lion at system level. This has been documented before the release of OS X Lion by itself.
If you really need Final Cut Studio 2, I would return your computer if possible, and purchase a Mac that is capable of running Snow Leopard (all 2010 models, early 2011 MBP and some other 2011 models)

Just one more quesiton re: this topic, I am looking to get rosetta but do not have Leopard or Snow Leopard...
I read that it is not on Snow Leopard only on Leopard....so do I need to get only Leopard? Can u advise?
Alternatively I do have Mac OS X Tiger so is it on this and can I install it from here?
Please excuse my lack of knowledge here, just trying to get my FCP 6 up and running asap....

I am trying to install final cut pro 6 onto my mac but a message keeps coming up saying its doesnt support a powerpc, anyone have any tips please?

If you have an Intel Mac and have recently upgraded to Lion or Mountain Lion; here is a post I made in another similar thread:
I do not have any experience with Final Cut, but if you have existing projects that you MUST access; then you are in need of a solution on your new iMac in Mountain Lion!
Unfortunately you got caught up in the minor miracle of Rosetta.  Originally licensed by Apple when it migrated from the PowerPC CPU platform that it had used from the mid-1990's until the Intel CPU platform in 2006, Rosetta allowed Mac users to continue to use their library of PPC software transparently in emulation.
However, Apple's license to continue to use this technology expired with new releases of OS X commencing with Lion (and now Mountain Lion).  While educational efforts have been made over the last 6 years, the fact is that Rosetta was SO successful that many users were caught unaware UNTIL they upgraded to Lion or Mountain Lion.
    Workarounds:
    1. If your Mac will support it, restore OS X Snow Leopard;
    2.  If your Mac will support it, partition your hard drive or add an external hard drive and install Snow Leopard into it and use the "dual-boot" method to choose between Final Cut Pro or Lion/Mt. Lion;
    3.  Purchase a used Mac that will run Snow Leopard (with the optional Rosetta installed) and continue to run FCE on that Mac (you can actually use Screen Sharing with a "headless" used Snow Leopard Mac Mini and use the screen from your other Mac to view and work FCP in the Mac Mini environment);
    2.  Upgrade to an Intel compatible version of FCP (such as FCP X) and hope it converts your existing projects to its newer format correctly.  There is much debate that the newer version of Final Cut are eliminating many needed features; for example Final Cut Pro X vs. Final Cut Pro 6 -- many users are staying with version 6;
    3.  Install Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) into Parallels and then install FCE in the Snow Leopard environment:
Full Snow Leopard installation instructions here:
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1365439
NOTE: STEP ONE of the instructions must currently be completed on a Snow Leopard or Lion Mac and the resulting modified Snow Leopard.cdr install file can then be moved over to your Mountain Lion Mac for completion of the remaining steps.
NOTE 2:  Computer games with complex, 3D or fast motion graphics make not work well or at all in virtualization.

  • Re installing Final Cut Studio on my NEW Mac pro?

I originally purchased Final Cut Studio (on a G5 Power PC), Then installed the universal crossgrade,
then installed Final Cut Studio 2. Now I have a New Mac Pro (Intel Chips) How do I go about
reinstalling FCS? do I need the original serial key from the first version or do I just use my
    FCS 2 serial Key?
    J>H<L

    J>H<L
You'll need both keys, but you only have to do one installation.
The FCS2 installer will ask for the FCS2 key. If that passes, another window will open asking for the FCS key. If that key passes, then it's just a normal installation.

  • Just Opened My New Mac Pro and trying to install Final Cut Pro

Just opened up my new Mac. I'm trying to install Final Cut Pro. I put the CD in the tray and it doesn't install. Usually the install icon comes up on the desktop, but it doesn't. I am logged in when attempting to install it.

The answer to your first question is to use the "Finder". That is how you access your storage media, folders and files on a Mac... I assume by this question that you must be a Windows user.
When you open the Disk Utility, you should see both the drive and any media mounted by the drive. You also went to the System Profiler via "About This Mac". The DVD drive is not shown in the overview, but is found in ATA, and the burner in Disc Burning. In ATA you should see the physical drive and also below, any disc mounted by the drive.
Although application CD/DVD discs should open on the desktop when inserted, the same is not necessarily true of music CD's. What Mac OS X does in their case is dictated by settings in System Prefs, CDs & DVDs.
If you need AppleCare, whatever you do, don't just arrive there without a Genius Bar appointment, or you'll be wasting a trip. As far as contacting Cupertino AppleCare by phone, you can find that at the bottom of the Support page under "Contact Support".
...And I agree with the others, that being descriptive is always best.
    Hope this helps.
