Unable to install iTunes 11.1.3 and uninstall iTunes on XP Machine.

Scenario: Can't synch my iPhone4 with iTunes on Windows XP machine.
- Pop-up says I need iTunes 11.1.3.
- Download 11.1.3 and run installer
- Fails with error "The Folder Path "Program Files" contains an invalid character. Run installer again".
- Run installer again (and again...) and keep getting same error. (endless loop.....)
- Go to Support page which says to completely uninstall iTunes for XP in this order:
    - iTunes
    - Apple Software Updates
    - Apple Mobile Device Support
    - Bonjour
    - Apple Application Support
- When I uninstall iTunes I get exact same error message when uninstaller tries to configure iTunes.
     "The Folder Path "Program Files" contains an invalid character. Run installer again"
         - Why the heck would the uninstaller try to configure iTunes before uninstalling it???
            Seems kind of pointless to me.
So, bottom line, I can't synch my iPhone, can't install or uninstall iTunes. DOA...!!! Need help!

I just resolved this on Win Vista (should apply equally for Win7 too). Please uninstall iTunes before proceeding though. I'll walk you through the process I followed, if you like you can jump straight to the Solution section.
Problems:
The initial error during the installation of iTunes was:
An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.4053",type="win32",publicKeyToken='1fc8b 3b9a1e18e3b",processorarchitecture="x86". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT:0x8007054F
The error (after installing iTunes) when trying to run iTunes was:
Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again. Error 2 (Windows error 2).
After trying various fixes around the forums I came across this MSKB article, which relates to the first installation error:

This lead me to trying to install MS Visual C++ but I received the following error trying to install that:
Error 1935.An error occurred during the installation of assembly ‘Microsoft.VC80.ATL,type=”win32”,version=”8.0.50727.762”,publicKeyToken=”1fc8b3 b9a1e18e3b”,processorArchitecture=”amd64”’. Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x80070BC9. Assembly interface: IassemblyCacheItem, function: Commit, component: {837BF1EB-D770-94EB-A01F-C8B3B9A1E18E}
Note: The installation of VC++ rolls back when it fails.
Solution:
Through this error I found this MSKB article:

The Automated MS "Fix It" msi package didn’t work.
Note: Please backup your registry first (see the above MSKB article for instructions).
I opened the registry and (as instructed in the MSKB article) deleted the following keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS\
PendingXmlIdentifier
NextQueueEntryIndex
AdvancedInstallersNeedResolving
Reboot and reinstall iTunes.

After I install Itunes 10.5.2 and open itunes a window opens stating another program is not allowing itunes to burn cd's. Next, I get an error window stating itunes 42404 is missing. I've uninstalled itunes 3 times and re-installed. No luck.

You need to remove all installer file, uninstall iTunes and all related programs, then do a clean install.
Try the following steps:
1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:

Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
2. You should remove all instances of iTunes and the rest of the components listed below:
it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes, QuickTime, and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:
iTunes
QuickTime
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Follow the instructions from Apple article listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to remove all components
3. Reboot your computer. Next, download iTunes from here:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and install from scratch

Running OS X Leopard 10.5.8 and was having issues with my version of iTunes 10.5.3 (freezing and getting rainbow spinny wheel, not allowing me to do anything, while importing music from a different folder into the iTunes). Anyway, so I uninstalled iTunes and went to download the newest version (10.7 i believe) and after downloading and attempting to install, i was alerted that I cannot install and run this application without having the newest version of OS X 10.6 i believe. So, what I'm ultimately trying to figure out is if I need to spend $130(that i do not have) on Amazon to get the Snow Leopard 10.6.3 then pay another $20 in the App Store to upgrade to Mountain Lion as well? I need to have iTunes on this laptop due to having an iPhone 4 that needs to be able to be synced on this computer. Bottom Line is, I don't have really have $150 to upgrade all this at the current moment just to get iTunes back on my system. Any suggestions or am I basically having to drop the $150 just to get iTunes back so I can sync my iPhone 4 again? Yes it would, possibly even brick it.
Have successfully connected my ipod nano with iTunes so looks like the device driver is working.
Can I use my ipod nano USB connector to check?
It is not much help to you, since the device that you need still not recognized.
Anyway looks like I may have to swallow the loss of data. Have set-up a call for tomorrow with Apple support so will wait until after this before doing the factory restore!

Hey, we are having exactly the same problem! My old ipod died a slow death so I bought a new nano 16gb 4th gen and I can't use it as itunes isn't recognising any ipod being plugged into it. Your other music shows under the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your Mac's iTunes, and in the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app on your phone - if they do then are you signed in with the same account or is that album hidden (hiding and unhiding) ? Is the laptop the computer that you normally sync the phone to (e.g. could you sync it), and could you copy the album from the laptop to your Mac Mini e.g. via file sharing, a flash drive etc (copying music)

My iTunes on my laptop and my iTunes on my phone don't match

My iTunes on my laptop and my iTunes on my phone don't match. My old phone (iPhone 4) has got all of my music (whether it's bought via iTunes or added from CD) whereby my iTunes on my laptop only has music I purchased via iTunes (my laptop crashed and had to be rebuilt so once I logged back into iTunes everything was gone). I've tried re-syncing but no joy. I've now got a new iphone (5s) but I can't get my iTunes on my new phone to match the iTunes on my old phone. Any ideas?
