Unable to install iTunes after converting from Windows Vista to Windows 7.  Am told installation was successful, then "iTunes was not installed correctly", followed by "Error 7 (Windows error 193).  I have my iPod plugged into my computer via USB port.  What am I doing wrong?

i have the only account on my laptop so have checked and am the account administrator
i run windows 7 home premium
I have the same problem and
have followed the link uninstalling in the correct order,
    then restarted as per instructions,
went to Apple to download itunes,
    hit download now,
Visit the iTunes download page. Click Download Now to download the iTunes installer. When prompted, click Save (instead of Run).
did not get a save instead of run prompt
Right click on iTunesSetup or iTunes64Setup (the installer you downloaded in step 3).
If you have Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8: Choose "Run as administrator."
i can only click run as administrator from right clicking the shortcut on my desktop screen
If iTunes fails to install or repair, it might be necessary to remove components left from a previous installation of iTunes and then reinstall.
    sick of doing this
at least 7 or 8 times i have re installed itunes to no avail
    troubleshooting no better
please help. pulling my hair out at this stage
it was working fine until 2 days ago when i opened itunes it offered to update to 12.1
not working since i clicked yes
also i have gone to restore previous point and ffs there are no restore points before my multiple reinstalls
really dont want to have to restore factory settings

  • Bonjour64msi error unable to install itunes 10.5 and ios 5.0

    Please can someone help me
I can't download the ios 5.o as I need the 10.5 itunes which I also can't install because of this stupid Bonjour64msi error. I've tried unintalling this bonjour and it says it doesn't exsist well if it doesn't exsist what is the problem.
I'm losing the will to live.
My apps won't update because I need these updates so Im going round in circles.
Ive tried dowloading a a cleanup utility and even that doesnt download properly.
    I'm using windows 7
    Please help
    Thank you

    1. Go to softpedia.com
    2. In the search box in softpedia.com web site type in 'Windows Installer Cleanup Utility'. Click on GO
3  On the next page, at the bottom you will see in blue 'Windows Installer CleanUp Utility 2.5.0.1 by Microsoft'
4 Click on that link and it will take you to another page. On the left side you will see a 'download' button in blue colour. Click on that button and it will take you to the next page.
5 Click on link that reads: 'Softpedia Mirror (US) exe', A download window will appear. Click on 'save file'.
6 Install 'Windows Installer ClenaUp Utility' program.
7 After installing program, open up the program and scroll down the list till you find 'Apple Software Update'
8 Highlight it and click remove.
9 Now you can install itunes 10.5
This is exactly what I did and it worked for me like a charm. I even updated my iphone with IOS 5 tonight.
There is another way which I learned later which is easier and faster. I am running Windows 7. Go to 'Control Panel'. Scroll down to 'Programs and Features' and click on it. Scroll down till you see 'Apple Software Update' and right click on it and click 'uninstall' and then install itunes 10.5. That should work also. I've heard that some people can't see it in control panel so the other way would be to do as I did and download the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility. I hope I've made this as simple as possible for you. Good luck.

  • Unable to install iTunes for 64-bit Windows 8

Hi guys, I'm having some problems right now, as I am unable to use my iPhone with iTunes. I get the error message; "This iPhone cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install the 64-bit version of iTunes."
I have been able to sync my iPhone fine since i upgraded to Windows 8, this problem MAY have arisen after i last updated iTunes, but I cannot be sure as i haven't synced my phone in a little while.
After uninstalling iTunes myself, i tried to download the 64-bit version for windows from the apple website, but upon opening the install .exe file, i was confronted with some sort of combatability error, which i was unable to solve.
I then tried to re-download it using the Apple Software updater on my computer, but it seems to have not installed the 64-bit version, which I find a tad strange!
Upon writing this, i tried to replicate the compatability error i experienced, so i downloaded the install file from the apple website again, but uninstalled iTunes using that install file rather than using add or remove programs. After I did this, i ran the install file again, and followed the steps- 'Success!' i thought to myself, but alas. Upon plugging in my phone, "This iPhone cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install the 64-bit version of iTunes." comes up again.
This is very annoying for me as I have some CDs that I'm itching to add to my iTunes library on my phone, and i am unable to update to iOS 6.1 OTA so i can only do it through tethering with iTunes!
    Can anybody help me?!
    I am running:
    Windows 8 Pro 64-bit (6.2, Build 9200)

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • Unable to Install iTunes - error 0x80070091

I was using iTunes fine, no problems. One day, the automatic update ran and was unable to complete. After that, I was unable to open iTunes.
I followed these instructions to remove it:
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204275
Then, I attempted to reinstall and am getting error 0x80070091
    Any advice?

    Hello arrrbecca,
After reviewing your post, it sounds like an update failed and now iTunes wont launch. It looks like you have already done some troubleshooting. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

  • Are you unable to install iTunes 10 on your windows 7 64 bit platform?

Ok, I was having the same issues and tried uninstalling all Apple software. When I tried to uninstall the Apple updater it gave me the same message about something missing. So I right clicked on it in the uninstall window and clicked repair instead. I installed iTunes again and had no issues.
    Hope this helps!!

  • Unable to install iTunes - error message

I keep trying to install iTunes with the same error all the time.
    "error writing to C:/program files/itunes/itunes.resources/pt.1proj/ipodsetup.nib/objects.xib"
I have deleted the Temp files folder, uninstalled both iTunes and QuickTime and restarted. I have tried running Chkdsk and it keeps telling me "it can't complete the error check". I just bought a new iPhone...HOW ELSE AM I GOING TO GET THIS PROGRAM INSTALLED AND RUNNING??? So irritated.

    +"error writing to C:/program files/itunes/itunes.resources/pt.1proj/ipodsetup.nib/objects.xib"+
That is often caused by a corrupt file.
    Try running a disk check:
    http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=315265
If that finds and fixes errors, try insatlling itunes.
If not try renaming the folder:
    C:/program files/itunes/itunes.resources/pt.1proj/ipodsetup.nib
This will prevent the installer seeing the problem file.

  • Unable to install iTunes - Error during install

Just tried several times to install the latest version of iTunes to no avail, and had no luck with a few searches on google for help. I have been having troubles installing the latest iTunes due to an error with the bonjour service. Assuming it may have been corrupted within my computer, I had tried uninstalling it, which seemed successful, but it is still a service within windows, and is perma-disabled (can't be enabled at all). I have tried installing bonjour on it's own first before iTunes, however, it fails to install, and if I choose to ignore, it does proceed, but is unable to initialize the service. Should anyone have a suggestion to get around this I would appreciate it.
O/S is Windows Vista 64 Bit Home Premium
Hoping I can get this fixed up, else I am going to have to avoid apple products and programs for some time to come, which would be a shame. Also, thanks in advance for any possible solutions.

That was for windows\system32 using scannow and showed 100% complete
Does it make a difference that Apple loads it into Program Files (x86)?
No, it should also be checking through your WOW64 subsystem (that's part of the operating system too).
Can you check something further for me, please? Create a new Windows user account with full administrative rights. Log out of your usual account and log into the new one. (Don't use fast user switching to move between accounts.)
Can iTunes launch in the new user account? (It'll show a blank library if it does, but that's expected. The content is back in your other user account.)
(Checking here to see if the issue is systemwide on the PC, or related to a specific user account.)

  • Unable to install iTunes 10.5 on Windows XP

iTunes says there's a new update the 10.5.  So I try to run it.  Goes through all the steps and warns me there is a version running and I would need to restart my computer and I agree.  But as it goes through the steps of installing and it almost gets to the end.  It says There is a problem with the Windows Installer Package. A program run as part of setup did not finish as expected.  Contact your support personnel or package vendor and then after says iTunes could not be installed and there were no changes made.
