  • Unable to install Itunes in Windows XP

I am unable to Install Itunes oin Windows xp professional SP2, it gives below error: Let me know how to get it installed

OK, there is still not much to go there.
I assume you are using 32 bit XP Pro, iTunes will not install on 64 bit XP but you should get a different error.
Lets try installing the components of iTunes separately.
Download the iTunes installer and save it in your downloads folder.
The files will be either itunessetup.exe or itunes64setup.exe for a 64 bit system.
Open notepad and copy the following 3 lines into it.
    md temp
    itunes64setup /extract temp
    pause
Remove 64 for 32 bit itunes.
Save the file as extract.bat into the same folder that contains the itunes installer.
Open the downloads folder and you should find the extract file that you saved. Double click on it and a black window will open telling you what it is doing. When its finished, press any key to continue.
You should find that a folder called temp has been created containing all the itunes msi files.
Install by double clicking on them  in this order:
    Apple Application Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Apple Software Update
    iTunes
Make a note of any error messages and which component it relates to.
Also use the Windows Event viewer to see if there are error messages at the time you attempted the installs.
The following article gives information about using the Event Viewer:

  • Unable to install Itunes on Windows 8

Unable to install Itunes on Windows 8.
It states Errors occured during installation. Your system has not been modified, and does not fully down load.
    I have tried :-
    Uninstall Itunes and then reinstall
Uninstalled Itunes then connect Iphone to computer and tried to source relevant Itunes package.
ininstalled Itunes then tried to install a later version
Even tried an Itunes 64 bit installer then tried to download Itunes.
All the above have been unsucessful. I have a 64 bit operationg system, x64 based processer laptop computer.
I have spoken to the staff at apple store who were all really nice but could not offer any help unless I had an apple computer.
Please help as I have two Iphones and an Ipad which are limited without Itunes.

See Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
If you still have problems installing iTunes download and install 7-Zip (free) and a fresh copy of the current installer from https://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ or use these direct links (which will go out of date at some point):
    iTunes 11.1.5 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe (2014-02-25)
    iTunes 11.1.5 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe (2014-02-25)
Then unpack the installer into its components using 7-Zip and install them individually in alphabetical order (don't try to install SetupAdmin.exe or iCloud.msi). If any of the components still fail to install you may get more useful error messages as to why not.

These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? (For example, 8007000B.)

Unable to install ituns on windows 7 64. Installer states missing .dll file.

Here is a solution that worked for a user who also had a problem with iTunes Software Support. This thread was for a win32 version, but Maybe this is the problem for both of you?:
IT appears that AppleApplicationSupport.msi, is not opening and installing properly.
Download and SAVE iTunesSetup.exe, where you can find it.
    Then:
    1. Download and install WinRAR.
    2. Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe icon and choose "Open with WinRAR".
    3. Once the EXE is opened in WinRAR, double-click AppleApplicationSupport.msi and when the installer window is open choose "Repair".
    4. Done! You can now run iTunes normally.

  • I am still unable to install itunes in Windows Vista

I have tried to run Fix it 4 times now after doing other things suggested in the Apple community and I am still unable to install itunes. Do you have any other ideas?
I've been uninstalling/reinstalling and using CCcleaner, sfcscannow and nothing seems to correct error msg 2- corrupt files found/unable to fix.  Now what??????
I am using windows Vista.  I NEED help!

nothing seems to correct error msg 2
With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • Have a/c with itunes but unable to install itunes on Windows 7

Though I have an a/c with itunes I am unable to install itunes keep receiving errors when trying to install

Neither Apple nor the iTunes installer cares if you have an a/c (I'm assuming that's the lazy way of typing account) when installing iTunes.
If you want/need help, stop trying to be cute, provide the specific details without the short hand.
Otherwise... search for the errors that are being displayed.
Others are more likely to help if you actually put some effort into asking for help.

  • TS3212 Unable to instal Itunes in Windows 7 for want of a DLL file / installer error

Can anyone help me in installing the latest itunes.  I have downloaded the setup file.  When I try to instal, installation fails forwant of a DLL file / error in installer package.  What should I do to successfully instal.
I have been using Itunes for so many years.  But recently I formatted my laptop and installed the new OS, Windows 7.  Previously I was using Windows XP, I did not have problem.
Is there any solution by enabling or disabling any of the service features under administrative tools in the control panel ?

Although you're getting a different error message, try the procedure from the following user tip with that one:

  • Unable to Install iTunes in Windows 8 - 64 bit

    Hi All,

  • Im unable to install itunes on windows 8.1

When i try installing itunes 11.1.4 from this link iTunes64Setup.exe, this is the message i get "This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it" Please help! i use windows 8.1 (64 bit)

The link in your first post is invalid.
At the time of writing the current build of iTunes is 11.2.2(.3). I would recommend you install the current version rather than any older version, unless you are completely unable to get the current version to work, in which case reinstalling the most recent version that worked for you is a viable short term workaround.

  • I am unable to install iTunes on Windows 7 (Strange issue)

The issue:  I previously had iTunes on a windows install, I migrated to a new computer and a new hard drive for the OS.  Now when I try to install iTunes it gets
half way through the opening bar where its calculating space then it tells me "The folder path 'Misc Stuff' contains an invalid character"
I've gone through and deleted all previous instances of iTunes, ran an uninstaller that removes regestery entries and left over data.  It all comes up clean as if there are no files or entries that use iTunes or anything referencing it.
Yet when i attempt to install its always the above error.  I'm at wits end here. I'm normally pretty handy with a computer and this ones got me frustrated as all get out.

I've been unable to research a reason its trying to go to a directory that does not exist.  It leaves me with out any way to sinc tunes onto my iPod.

  • Unable To Install iTunes on Windows 7

I had iTunes on this computer right up until an hour ago when I was told there was an update available for it. I tried to update it, the update failed. In the process it corrupted the iTunes program that was already there and working just fine. So I used the ADD/REMOVE Programs function on Windows to remove iTunes and then went to the Apple site and downloaded the installer for iTunes. Upon running the installer I get the usual "Open File - Security Warning" asking if I am sure I want to run the file. I click run. The status bar comes up as the installer opens.
The "Welcome to iTunes" window comes up and displays the version to be installed as 12.1.0.71 x64. I click next.
The installation options screen comes up, add shortcut to desktop and use iTunes as default player, English and destination folder. I uncheck the default player option and click install.
I get the permission to make changes to the hard drive question.
    Installer runs.
    Then a message pops up:
"An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT.type="win32".version="8.0.50727.6195".publicKeyToken="1fc8b 3b9a1e18e3b".processorArchitecture="AMD64"". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. "HRESULT: 0x80070091"
I click OK. The installer says, "rolling back action" and tries again. And supposedly makes it further this time around. It's status says "starting services" and my computer makes the sound like hardware has been connected and my phone chirps that it's connected to the PC. But the installer is frozen at this point.
I then get an error that states:
"Service 'Apple Mobile Device Service' (Apple Mobile Device Service) failed to start. Verify you have sufficient privileges to start system services. Abort Retry Ignore.
Clicking RETRY does not resolve the issue. Clicking IGNORE does not allow the program to proceed. Clicking ABORT rolls back the installation completely and closes the program.
I have gone to Services.msc and found the service in question and told it to start. And am given the following message:
Windows could not start the Apple Mobile Device Service on Local Computer. Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
Interestingly enough, there are TWO services with this name. One is started, the other is not.
    System information:
OS = Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) and is up to date with all windows updates.
    Chipset is NVIDIA
Processor is Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.4GHz
    RAM = 8192MB
Page File 4142 of 16378MB used

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
