Unable to install MSI as domain admin

I have windows 10 installed and i am a domain admin. I am simply trying to install the flash update a .msi file manually from my c: drive. UAC is disabled. It says i don't have sufficient rights.
On msi files there is no run as administrator option on the context menu. Please note i don't want to run as administrator, what i want to be able to do is run a setup file and install a program, very simple.
Ok further information on this massive task of installing an msi file.
I  am domain admin, I have added my account to local admins group directly and restarted. Still does not work.
Strangely if i run the msi as a different user by holding down shift and then running it as another domain admin account then it decides that i have rights and installs the file.
If the response is turn UAC on or run windows as a non admin user, don't bother replying. I don't want to waste my life ok'ing UAC prompts or typing in windows admin user accounts all day.
I do not mind running an admin account, I want to disable all the fake security that UAC brings with it, so that i am not prompted constantly to do basic things.

Hi Johnmclain,
Does the local admin have such issue?
Check the following two security polies about elevated prompt:
User Account Control: Detect application installations and prompt for elevation
---Disabled
User Account Control: Behavior of the elevation prompt for administrators in Admin Approval Mode
--- Elevate without prompting

I am unable to install new software on my iMac, I enter in the admin password and it doesn't progress to the installation screen, it just loops back to admin password entry. Please help

Hi Kappy, this isnt the case, it accepts the password, I hit install and then the same screen pops up instead of proceeding to install the software. I even went in to check, change password and no joy

  • Software always installs to Domain Admin account on connected PC-cant install to Domain User account

I have completed the following steps:
Set up Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials successfully
Successfully connected a Windows 8.1 Pro PC to the network by running the Essentials Connector software
The PC has the following users: Original local account created when I installed Windows 8, Domain Admin account created when I ran the Essentials Connector account, Domain User created after PC was connected to the network.
Everything seems to be working fine. I have installed MS Office 365 Pro, Skype, various other applications while logged in as the Domain User. Every one of these installs triggered a UAC prompt, which was expected, and after entering the Domain Admin
credentials the install proceeded successfully. After install, the software was available to the Domain User, shortcuts appeared in the Start Menu or Desktop, appropriate directories were created in the Documents folder.
All except for 3 applications - upon being prompted for permission to install, I enter the Domain Admin credentials, installation proceeds, but the software is installed to the Domain Admin account-not the Domain User account. Shortcuts appear on the Domain
Admin desktop-Not the Domain User account, etc. I've tried:
Downloading a new copy of the software to the Domain User desktop & running it from there
    Right-click file, Install as Admin
click file, Install as a different user
Right clicking file, Properties>Compatibility & changing compatibility settings
Right clicking file, Properties>Compatibility>Run as Administrator
None of these options have changed the result, the software is still installed to the Domian Admin account as opposed to the Domain User account. Any idea why these 3 software wont install correctly but everything else has? Any suggestions as to how to install
the software to the profile that doesn't involve making the Domain User an Administrator? Thanks for any help!

    Hi voltron5,
Many programs may provide options: "install for everyone" or "just for current user", when you install them.
Please check if there are such options during the installation process.
If those three programs are all third-party applications. I suggest you should contact with the corresponding
    support and confirm this.
If those three programs are Microsoft applications, would you please let me know specific information of those
three applications? Such as their names and so on. Meanwhile, when complete the installation, please check the software path was added in administrator environment variables or system environment variables.
    Hope this helps.

  • DPM 2012R2 - Unable to install agent on trusted domain

    Hi,
I'm pretty sure I'm not the first to ask this question, but couldn't find the solution anywhere.
Just completed the installation of DPM2012R2 and I'm trying to install\attach agents on the computers from the list.
Every single computer is returning me the same error: 322,
The following computers <computerame> were not found in Active Directory Domain Services, or they do not have a Windows Server operating system installed.
Which is weird since I'm logged in as domain admin and was able to access all the hosts under my active directory domain with no problem.
    Any hints?

    Hi,
    Few things to try:-
    1. Temporary disable Windows firewall between DPM and target server
2.Try add the credential that you use to push DPM agent to each local server-Local Administrator Group.
3.On DPM server server, make sure can resolve FQDN of the target server and able to ping them.
4.Next, depend on your target server, you may need to install some pre-requisite software/ update.

  • Windows 7 on domain, only domain admins can install/uninstall and update

We are rolling out some Windows 7 PC's at work and are noticing some problems with Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat 8 on these new machines.  If a normal user is logged in to a Win 7 computer he/she cannot install, uninstall or update either adober reader x or Acrobat 8, they are met with the following error:
Error 1324: The path to My Documents or the volume is invalid. Please enter it again
This pops up immediatly when the choose to install.  All of our domain users are set up as local admins on their macines (Domain Users has been added to the local Adminstrators group).  The only way anyone can install or update without the errors is if we add them to the Domain Admins group which for obvious reasons we can't do.
Any ideas?  I can't seem to find a solution for this searching online.

  • Which unity accts can I take off "domain admin" group after install

    Hi
Unity 5.X in UM mode - Which unity accts can I take off "domain admin" group after install (ie unityinstall, unityadmin, UnityMsgStoreSvc, UnityDirSVC etc..)
and if I do so, what is the impact or if I want to upgrade in the future?
    Thanks

UnityInstall should be the most powerful account and is the only account that should be added to the Domain Admins group by the Permissions Wizard.  This is definitely true for Exchange 200, 2003, and 2007.  I've not dealt with a lot of customers on 2010 yet so this could have changed; however, I doubt it.  You can verify what I'm telling you here:
    http://www.ciscounitytools.com/Applications/Unity/PermissionsWizard/Unity403_411/Help/PWHelpPermissionsSet_ENU.htm
This link will tell you what permissions and group memberships are set at a high level for all the Unity service accounts.
To clarify what Jonathan said, by "downgrade" the UnityInstall account - the rule of thumb is this:
Cisco supports that you DISABLE the UnityInstall account, if desired, after an installation.  This account should only be used during installation activities.  However, DO NOT DELETE the account in AD.  So, again - disabling the account is OK.

exit value 2 is possible only if the command I mentioned before fails. So can you please re-execute the following and see the value of echo $? just after execution.
This time the command is as is from the source. So please execute the command as is, with double quotes copied as in the command below.
    /opt/novell/eDirectory/bin/ldapsearch -x -h <ip address of frd> -e /etc/opt/novell/certs/SSCert.der -D "<tree admin>" -w "<tree password>" -b "<dn to be mapped>" -s base dn -LLL >/dev/null
If the command has return value 0 instead of 2, you can execute provisionTools.sh command with sh -x option just before the script. Then see the exact ldapsearch command being called.
Also, are their any special characters or spaces in container to be mapped, tree password, or tree admin name? Though most of special characters are supported, there might be bug in this portion of script.

  • Domain Admin Group account for installing BHOLD Core

I was trying to install BHOLD Core on a test lab setup. Technet documentation says that to install BHOLD Core, you should login with an account which is a member of Domain Admin Group. Is this mandatory? If only Model Generator is required, should we still
login with Domain Admin Group account? Can somebody clarify?

    Hi
Yes you can login to the server with an account that is part of that group.
Hope this helps. Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

  • Unable to install software/Admin or higher permissions required for install

Suddenly, I am unable to install software—I get a dialogue box that tells me I must have Administrator or higher permissions to do the install. I am attempting to do this from the Administrator account, and I even created a new one to see if that would work, all to no avail. Any tips, ideas, suggestions to resolve this problem? I would really like to install Leopard. Thanks!

Hi flow_pilot, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Tiger Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)

I'm seeing now that it does install the ccmsetup service on the PC, but the service is not able to start.   When I attempt to manually start it, I get:
Windows could not start the ccmsetup service on Local Computer.
Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start.

I tried to install the outlook connector for Outlook 2003. I've got the following error message. It said that Unable to install Sun Java System MAPI Service Providers. I am using Windows 2000 SP3 platform

Anyone can help for this? Thanks

I have used this method, but the dog gone service does not return a started status. It just keeps saying starting even after the service starts.
Download sc.exe from ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/reskit/win2000/sc.zip and copy
    it to system32
Open a command line, change to C:\Sun\AppServer\lib and run:
    C:\winnt\system32\sc.exe create SJdomain1 binPath=
    "C:\Sun\AppServer\lib\appservService.exe
    \"C:\Sun\AppServer\bin\asadmin-pause.bat start-domain domain1\"
    \"C:\Sun\AppServer\bin\asadmin-pause.bat stop-domain domain1\"" start= auto
    DisplayName= "SunJava domain1"
    1. I'm no fan of windows and I prefer Solaris or Linux
    2. Windows should have this tool as a part of the OS so I don't have to go hunt for it
    3. I guess this solution is better than no solution at all :)
