Unable to install network printer

hello:
i just got a network drive (Western Digital Netcenter) that has a print server as well. on my iBook (OS X 10.2.8) i can see the files on the network drive, but i cannot seem to add my printer (epson stylus photo r300). i can print fine from my PC from this networked printer. the instructions from WD say to click "Windows Printing" after clicking to add a printer, but this option is not available. any ideas?? thanks

no dice. sorry it's been a while for my response, but i've been out of town with the holiday. anyway, tried Wd-Netcenter as the share name as well as the printer name. WD says that the printer name should be the name of the model up to 13 characters, but printers with a name longer than 13 characters won't work with Mac and their network drive. no matter what i do i can install the printer, but when i try to print a document it times out with an error message saying "Cannot connect via Samba, will try again in x seconds" or something to that effect. i'm going to try updating the firmware on the network drive and try again but i'm not holding my breath given the level of support i've gotten from WD. thanks for all your help will update if i get things working....

Problem on installing network printer Officejet Pro x451dw
Hello everyone. I'm trying to install the above printer on my PC belonging to a network of about 7 pc. I should say that on the PC in question is running Windows XP Professional SP3 and that the printer has already been installed on other computers in the network and is functioning. I tried using both the driver CD that can be found on the HP website and they both do not give errors during instalation, indeed, perfectly detect the printer and its IP address, so the installation finishes successfully, but the press the test page, the waiting time extends until the error message "unable to print the document." I also made an attempt with the software "hp scan doctor" and also this does not detect errors up to the test of the final print, that does not go through. At this point the software calls to make a print "internal" that this time occurs. The suggestion is to uninstall and then reinstall the HP software, but this intervention does not have a positive outcome. How else could I do attempt ??? I ask for help! Thank you for your attention. regards Roberto
Problema su installazione di rete stampante Officejet Pro x451dw
Salve a tutti. Chiedo aiuto ! Grazie per l'attenzione. Saluti Roberto

  • Satellite L350-171 - Installing network printer

I am having problems installing my Canon Pixma IP4300 printer as a network printer. The printer is connected to a desktop PC and then a Dynamode R-ADSL-C4-2 router. This is connected to the laptop by a cable, which was previously connected to my old laptop.
How do I install the network printer on the Toshiba. I have gone into Ctrl Panel and then Printers. I found the install printer option and selected install network printer. It then asks me to find the printer or else print it in manually. I did try to install it from the Canon disk, but things stuck during the process. Do I need the disk atall? How do I find what to call the printer?
    Any help much appreciated.

    Dear Trenny
Is this question posted on the right forum? Please don't be mad on me but what has Toshiba to do with network printers.
Do you have some problems with your Satellite notebook?
    Do all ports work properly?
    Is operating system working well?
For network printer configuration you can find enough pages here.

  • Unable to install network Scanner - Cannon iR3045

    Hi,
What is the detailed information of the error message?
I suggest you install the driver in a compatibility mode, see instructions in the following link

  • Installing network printer and downloaded print drivers aren't recognized.

I downloaded drivers for the Canon ImagePRESS C1 and they seem to install just fine. However, when I install the network printer the driver is not listed anywhere. Even when I choose "Other" and point to the device folder the files are greyed out, and I can't select the driver. I've tried updates and resetting the print system an still no success. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    drh08

There are three printer options (at least here in Oz there is) available for the imagePRESS C1. There is the internal Canon printer board and two external print controllers - the imagePASS-T1 and the imagePRESS-Q1, which is what we have connected to our C1. Each of these print controllers have different drivers so you need to determine which one you have first. If you are not sure, then check with someone or have a look at the C1. If it has a white metal box hanging on the back of the copier with some network cables, then you have the T1. If there is a PC case connected to the copier then you have the Q1. If the network cable connects from the wall straight to a network card on the back left side of the machine, then you have the internal Canon board.
For the two imagePASS controllers, you can download the driver from the print controller, by opening its internal web page (type the copiers IP address into your web browser to access). These queues for these drivers are added via IP > HP Jetdirect-Socket and you should find the driver by searching for either T1 or C1 in the Print using menu.
If you have the Canon board, then how you create the printer queue depends on which driver you have downloaded. Could you tell me the driver name and version so I can explain the method of adding the printer queue.

  • Unable to find network printer

    Hi All,
I have a Epson Stylus NX125 all-in-on printer/scanner/copier connected via USB to my router, an ASUS RT-N13U SuperSpeed N Wireless.  I have tried to connect to the printer via IP > LPD using the router's IP address, various Queues.  I updated my drivers for the printer, ran a software update check, etc.  Unfortunately, I have not been able to connect to the printer at all.  I have no problems connecting to the internet via wifi.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
    Mahalo!

My name is Syd and I work for Epson America, Inc.
The Stylus NX125 does not support any type of network printing.  The only type of connection available is USB.  In order to print to the printer you will need to be hard wired with a USB cable.  Unfortunately, your current set up is not something that is supported for this product
    Hope this helped,
    Syd

  • Unable to find network printer HP OfficeJet Pro 8600

    HP Officejet Pro 8600
    Windows 7 64bit
    updated router firmware
Troubleshoot all item s listed by HP and with Windows
I have been unable to print wireless from my laptop. Wireless network test results gives me a pass in all categories. Network name is the same on printer and laptop. IP address on printer and tcp  port are the same. Tried firewall on and off. AVG antivirus on and off. Unplugged printer, router, usb, restarted laptop. Nothing has solved the problem.
I can see that the printer has an ip address. My router has an ip address and my laptop has an ip address. Should they all be different? I am using the ip address from the printer to set up the wireless printing when asked to enter the address.
This has been the most frustrating process I have ever delt with. It should not be this difficult to set up. Please help.
Thank you in advance for a quick solution.

Shurlee, I want you to do is re-run the wireless setup wizard on your printer. Then uninstall it, and reinstall it again using the software I am going to link you to below. From what you describe it sounds like either an installation issue or an issue with your network. If this helps feel free to mark my post by hitting the star below my name which gives me a kudos - kinda like a job well done on here.
First if you use a USB cord, make sure to remove it. Do not plug it back in until the software directs you to. Then go through the Devices and Printers, Programs and Features and Device Manager folders and insure that all copies, files, and programs related to the printer are removed. Then as directed, restart the computer.
In the START menu type "%temp%" and press ENTER. Here I want you to press Ctrl+A and hit DELETE. Some of the files will not allow you to delete them, skip those files and delete the majority that allows it.
Download these files and install them. By the way these are for the N911a, but if you have the 8600 Plus or Premium you will need different drivers.

Install that and let me know the result!

  • HP Update unable to install HP Printer Diagnostic Tools

Today the HP Update application prompted me to install three updates related to my Deskjet 3520. Two of them seemingly installed OK, but the third one ("HP Printer Diagnostic Tools") downloads but immediately fails after installation has started.
The manual download of the tool seems to run, but there is no success message, and HP Update still shows this one as missing afterwards. This is on Windows 8 Enterprise x64.
    This question was solved.

That update is supposed to install a desktop shortcut to the diagnostics landing page.   You can find that here: www.hp.com/go/tools .
I don't know why the update is not working, but I would suggest selecting the  "Hide" option so it no longer shows up and adding the above link to your favorites if you wish to save it.

  • Want to install network printer

    Hi,
I am running Xfce4 over Arch 7 on a small windows network.  We have a HP Laserjet on the 'server' that I can see in the SMB Network portion of Xffm. What I haven't been able to do is install it so I can use it from my machine. I have tried to find Xfce4 docs that would help but have had no luck  Can anyone help??
Also, while I'm at it, is there anywhere I can find detailed docs on the use of xffm?  Again, I've tried but can't find any.  The Xfce site seems to assume that a lot of stuff is alrady known.
    Thanks,
    Jim

Yes it is!  However, can u explain how to change icon themes in detail. (I don't want to damage the system) The doc just says where u do it but not what to do.
Also, can u recommend a graphical editor (something like Kate in KDE)?
EDIT:  Forget the editor remark.  I just found GVIM!!

  • Silly issue: Unable to install network drivers for Win2008r2 or Win2012r2

It must be because it's Friday evening and I'm just lucky like that but for some reason I'm not able to install the network drivers for my Windows 2008 R2 or Windows 2012 R2 installs in B200-M3 servers.
I've mounted the Cisco driver ISO (ucs-bxxx-drivers.2.1.3.iso) and in each OS I've gone to Device Manager, then had to View -> Hidden Devices to show the Network Adaptors, then tried to have it install drivers from the ISO but no luck.  I did go to the correct subfolder Windows -> Network -> Cisco -> etc.  and even tried just having it search the whole CD, searching subfolders.  It either says no drivers found, or--for Windows 2012-- it says that Windows has determined that the driver software is up to date.
I've got to be missing something obvious.  Any help would be most appreciated!

    Hi Benjamin
We have done this many times; which UCS version are you using ?
    Check
    Interop Matrix http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/unified_computing/ucs/interoperability/matrix/r_hcl_B_rel2-21.pdf
    and Installation Guide
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/unified_computing/ucs/os-install-guides/windows/b_B-Series_Windows_Install.pdf
    Please use
ISO image of UCS-related drivers  Release Date 12-DEC-2013
    ucs-bxxx-drivers.2.2.1.iso
Normally you are asked during the Windows installation if you would like to install additional drivers; say yes, unmap the install iso, map the above driver iso, install fnic and enic driver; then unmap driver iso, map Windows install iso; do a refresh.
    Good luck
    Walter.
