Unable to Install new iTunes - Already Removed Old iTunes

Hello,
I attempted to install the latest iTunes after downloading it a few nights ago, as it was apparently required if I wanted to download movies. I got "Error code 2738" continuously.
I removed the old iTunes and made sure that nothing else related to it was running. I also removed the old QuickTime.
Now, in attempting to install iTunes OR QuickTime, I still get error code 2738. I now have no way to access my iPod or to download new music, as I now have no iTunes or Quicktime. Please help!
Thanks!
KF

  • Unable to install new itunes or remove old itunes program

Short story: I had to move itunes program from computer onto external hard drive. Copied the program from external hard drive to reinstall back onto computer. Now I can't open itunes program, remove it, or install a new version. Is this because it is a copy and not the original program file? I no longer have the original file. What can I do?

  • Unable to install new applications to iPhone with iTunes 8

    Hello,
I am a Mac Newbie. My wife and I share a MacBook (10.5.5), we both have administrator accounts on the MacBook. We both have iPhones (2.1). I have downloaded numerous song and applications to my iPhone. My wife tried to download a few applications from the iTunes Store and received the following message, "Some of the applications in your iTunes library, including 'Wikipanion', were not installed on the iPhone '[Wife's name] iPhone' because you are not authorized for them on this computer." Does anyone know what is causing this error?
    Thanks
    Brian

This is a common problem which I have not seen any reasonable response about from Apple. I have this problem. I suspect it may be related to the 2 phone thing. I have tried several posted fixes (reload phone from backup, remove apps and sync from itunes), but none permanently fix the problem.

    Hello, hanliefromzaf.

unable to install new iTunes as it states it has an invalid signature. what is this.

That one suggests the installer has gotten damaged during the download.
I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

Does anyone know how to solve this tiresome problem, please!?? The update is downloaded upto 723.5MB, and is required upto 723,6MB, then the error message pops out! Tnx.

I have a quick wifi connection (Mac shows it as about 35 megabits) but I couldn't get the 5.0.1 OTA to work, I had to do it via cable to my computer's iTunes - and as I was already on iOS 5 it was only a small download, basically the same size as the OTA size.
As the original poster is talking about a 730 meg download then I assume that they are still on iOS 4.3.5 or below and can therefore only download via their computer's iTunes - you need to be on iOS 5+ before you get the OTA option.

For those who may have similar problems, I answer my own query:
I was stymied. Tried to load the software from CD
that came with the nano. It halted and advised that I
    need to remove old versions.
    Questions:
+ Do I need to backup my current playlists (i.e.
will they be "deleted" if I uninstall old itunes)
Answer: NO. Itunes stores library in My Music folder. But the backup procedure is described in support
+ If so, how does one reinstall playlists? n/a
+ Why can't I remove the old ipod software (the
remove/change procedure seems to leave the old
softwhere right where it is even though acknowledging
    the process)
Answer: I finally tried doing a search for "ipod" and then right clicked and chose "uninstall". That did the trick
+ If I have version 6 of itunes, do I really need to
    install new software?
Answer: Don't know, but did it anyway
+ and, finally, if anyone has an abundance of time on
their hands, care to provide a step-by-step on how to
uninstall old and install new nano/itunes software?
Answer: It's on the support site
    Appreciate your time,
    Best Regards,

Acrobat 10 Pro: Unable to Install Updates After Virus Removed: Receive Error 1310 ?
Attempted to re-install the original Adobe Acrobat 10 Pro from the disk provided with the purchase; and it has put me in a trial; and is requesting that I purchase the software I already paid for, two years ago.

You can try a repair (may need to go to Control Panel>Programs & Features). A reinstall is a last resort, but if you go there be sure to uninstall from the control panel, run http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html, and remove any part left of the Acrobat folder. Then reboot as the administrator and reinstall. Be sure to disable antivirus during the install.

  • Unable to install new gnome icons.

For some reason I'm unable to install new icon themes in gnome. I download the tar file and extract it to the .icons folder, but when I go to the "customize theme" settings it doesn't have the new icons... This is the same way that I've installed new icons with every other distro, but for some reason it's not working here... Have I missed something?

Umm .. Creating PKGBUILD could fix a *broken* theme ?
No, but if you use PKGBUILD you wouldn't end up with a broken package.
    @OP
Can you please post a link to the icon theme you are trying to use?

You might want to rather just drag 'n' drop the tarball into the Customize Theme window and let it do all the work for you.
Some lazy people do ignore the packaging rules and provide broken icon packages, so just extracting the contents to .icons might not be enough. The real icons folder might be a sub-folder in the tar archive's root or something like that, and you need to cp that folder into .icons.
I've tried the drag 'n drop method as well, but when I drag my tarball in to the customize theme window, it doesn't stick, it just goes right back into the downloads folder.

You cannot install Norton Antivirus on this volume. This software must be installed on a volume containing Mac OS X version 10.4.10 or later.
HOW CAN I RESOLVE THIS. Even if I go onto the internet to update my software it does not allow me to.
Your urgent assistance is desperately needed. HELP :o)

Verify the version of Norton Anti-virus you have is 10.5.4 compatible.
Make sure your hard drive is less than 85% full (an arbitrary number which appears to create problems for Mac OS X)*:

Note running Norton Anti-virus on the Mac is normally something that's only needed to prevent you from becoming Typhoid Mary, more than prevent you from getting a Mac OS X virus, as there are none in the wild. There are some proof of concept trojan horses, but that's about it.
