Unable to install on mac

I have a mac version
and tried to install flash and it will NOT install.  I download and open and put in my password then it says retrieving install then stops.  I uninstalled flash and tried to install it again and will not.  I restarted my computer.  NOTHING.  Everytime there is an update I go through some issue with flash.  Please help.

Try with the offline installer http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/latest/help/install_flash_player_osx.dmg

  • Unable to install any Mac OS via any method

I consider myself an extremely knowledgeable mac user but I am out of ideas with this iMac G4 800. As the story goes, my family had two of these purchased within a year of each other around 2000 or 2001. In 2005 I got a PowerBook, transferred my files from the iMac I was using at the time and got ready to reformat the iMac and reinstall a fresh OS (10.3 at the time I think). Well no matter what I tried the install would fail with ambiguous error messages, the machine would kernel panic on startup from the install DVD. Installing via Target Disk Mode would cause random freezes, hangups, and I/O errors. I assumed the disk was fried but various utilities reported NO bad sectors even though OS X's disk utility was unable to zero out the drive (more I/O) errors. I found it highly suspicious that the day I get a new Mac and transfer my files over, the old one completely dies on me.
So I took the **** thing apart. Every screw in the thing was removed. I salvaged some hardware and scrapped the rest, chalking the experience up to bad luck. Now jump ahead again to 4 years later, that is, this week. The second and only remaining iMac, running OS 10.3 perfectly is no longer needed. I planned on wiping the drive and installing 10.5 on it. So try to imagine my surprise when the exact same symptoms start appearing. Kernel panics on booting the install DVD, unable to install via TDM, pacifist, etc.
I've run through the motions, reset-nvram, reset PRAM, reset PMU, remove RAM, remove Airport Card.
Booting from the 10.4 retail DVD results in a kernel panic with an "unable to find driver for this model Powermac 4,2"
I refuse to accept this is a hardware issue and that both iMacs failed on exactly the day that I tried to erase them and install a new OS. But I'm out of ideas.

It sounds like you are using machine specific disks to install.
Things in this upgrade faq (by Ali B) should help.

  • I'm unable to install the Mac os x 10.7.3 update.  I get an error message each time my macbook tries to install the downloaded updates.  Can anyone help me?

Each time my macbook restarts and tries to install the downloaded software updates, I get an error message telling me that there might have been an error during the download process of the updates and that he's unable to install the updates.  What can I do?

What are you trying to download? If you are referring to the recent security update, just ignore the error and select the option to open the installer. It's fine.

  • Unable to install the MAC OS..

I recently purchased a used G3 iBook 900MHz/ 640MB / 60GB hard drive / combo drive. It does not have an OS currently on it and I have tried holding down the "C" key to boot dfrom the CD drive. It starts the process with the spinning cd icon in the upper left hand corner but eventually I get the following error message. Installation ended unexpectedly (error 1) the wants me to reboot.
I am new to MAC's but need to learn them insdie and out. I am a certified A+ tech and have been working on PC's for 12 years but this MAC has me lost.
I have a CD of the MAC OS X panther I beleive. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    ThX

So the error 1 code then and the unexpected end to the installation could be a direct result of the version of OS I am trying to use and not a hardware issue?
Absolutely. The fact that it even tries (and you see the error code) would suggest that you have an iBook that will work if you give it a workable OS.
    Versions are explained on Wikipedia:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MacOSX#Versions
You say the iBook is a 900 MHz model. This could be either a 12-inch model:
    http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/ibook/stats/ibook_900.html
    or a 14-inch model:
    http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/ibook/stats/ibook90014.html
They were both released at the same time, and the same operating system was installed on both.
A Mac with a G3 processor has an upper limit to the OS of Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger). Newer versions of the OS require faster processors.

  • Unable to install PSE6/Mac

I just got PSE6, and tried to install it, but got the error shown in Picture 1.png.  This seems very odd, both as Picture 2.png shows that I'm only using Mac OS Extended filesystem, and because filesystem type is not even listed under system requirements.  I did try repairing file permissions; that didn't have any effect.  I also tried verifying the disk, and it came back as being ok.  (Picture 4 is there to show that my machine meets the other system requirements listed.)
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Dave

After downling PSE 6 on my Mac running Leopard, there is no way to install the thing. No installer, no way to double-click the application, nothing but a bunch of files in the .dmg.
Now I discover that according to the previous post in this thread, Adobe products won't install on case-sensitive drives.
Who's in charge at Adobe? Scooter in the mail room?
    Into the trash it goes.

  • Dell 2130cn leftover from PC life--hot to install for Mac OSX 10.6.5?

I have this Dell color laser printer. Since I switched to Mac last year I have been unable to install for Mac. Read the threads about downloading Ghostscript and Foomatic etc., but still can't INSTALL the stupid printer, much less get it to print anything.
Is there a DUMMY'S GUIDE to INSTALLING and SETTING UP this stupid printer? Else I'll just put it out on the street and hope somebody takes it away.
    Thanks.

    Is the sequence important/essential?
Should I have rebooted after the uninstall?
The sequence of installing the packages makes no difference. You do not have to reboot after the installation of the printing software.
I cannot say why you were getting the error message. I would have to see the CUPS error_log. If you are indeed running 10.6.x (you are posting in the forum for 10.5.x) then the foomatic error should have caused about 50 lines of debugging information to be logged. You can see the error_log by using a browser and going to http://127.0.0.1:631/admin/log/error_log?
Please note that the error message you are getting does not mean that the drivers will not work with your printer. Usually the type of message you are getting is during processing of the print file and before it is sent to the printer.

  • On a Mac, unable to install latest Flash Player 12.0.0.44--or reinstall previous version that worked

I am on a Mac running the last version of Snow Leopard before Mavericks, 10.8.5.  I am unable to install the new Flash Player 12.0.0.4--at about the 50% mark on the installing bar, it stops and I get an error message that installation failed.  The version I had previously for some time, either 10. or 11. worked perfectly but I am not unable to reinstall any previous version either.  So I have a project I cannot run that requires Flash Player and can't watch videos.
I found someone in a forum who mentioned he'd seen several people on Snow Leopard unable to install Flash Player but his directions to overcome that which did work for someone who tried it, appear to be for PC's: from his first direction of right-clicking, I didn't get the option he says to click on that starts the process.
Can anyone tell me how to install this new Flash Player in a Mac on Snow Leopard?  Should I trash all the new versions of the installer and the Flash Player Debugger Version 11.4.402.287 (11.4) that I have from a previous installment, prior to trying again?
    Thanks for any help.

What I'm looking for is specifically the "General Installation Error", since it's 10.8.5.
You're missing a file that was made visible by the 10.8.5 update. Hundreds of thousands of Mac users all over the world deleted it, not knowing what it was. It causes this when it's missing.
Download this file: "Secrets" pereference pane
    And this one: mach_kernel.zip
Install Secrets, and open your System Preferences.
Open the Secrets Preference Pane, and check "Show hidden files"
You'll need to press the "Quit this" button,
and restart Finder, by right clicking the Dock icon.
Then, place the mach_kernel.zip file in the Mac HD directory,
and unzip it. You should see a "faded" mach_kernel file appear.
    Trash the zip file.
Reopen your System Preferences and uncheck "Show Hidden files".
Instead of quitting Finder and relaunching it, reboot your Mac.
Your Flash Player installer won't quit anymore.

  • Unable to install Acrobat Pro 6 Upgrade on Mac Mini single CPU, OS 10.4.5

I have a Mac Mini (1.5 GHz, Intel Core Solo) with 512 mb RAM running OS X (10.4.5)
Unable to install Adobe Acrobat Professional 6 upgrade because I am unable to install earlier version full version (I own Acrobat 4 and 5 full versions). Finalizing install of 6 asks me to "Manually identify prior install", "Search hard drive for prior install", or "Manually locate on orig. CD". None of these options are possible (Version 5 CD is not a drag-and-drop app). How do I work around this?

I tried "Manually select..." but when I insert original CD of Acrobat 5, I'm not able to select it. Version 5 is not a drag and drop install,...i must click on the installer to install 5.

  • Unable to Install Photoshop & Premiere Elements 13 on MAC 10.9.5

Hello. I received Photoshop & Premiere Elements 13 for Christmas. It was purchased from Amazon (Amazon inc., not a third-party vendor). I have a MAC, running OS 10.9.5, which aligns with system requirements. I have been unable to install the software at all. One time I received a message that the software was not legitimately Adobe software. Otherwise, the disc is ejected automatically. Everything indicates it is Adobe software (serial number, packaging, etc.) Any ideas? Thank you, Melissa
    Correcting Title

Thanks. I downloaded Elements, and started to install, but can't get past the serial number screen.
There are several numbers on the back of the DVD box. I assumed the serial number was the long number above the bar code on the right - < removed > - but that doesn't fill the spaces and I don't get the 'NEXT' button.
The instructions say that the serial number will start with 1057 - so I tried added that to the beginning of the number above. Didn't work.
There is also a PN number on the back of the box, and a shorter number under a bar code on the left - < removed >
Can you tell me what I need to enter to install?
    I haven't downloaded Premiere yet...
    Thanks,
    Melissa

Hey, I am unable to install windows 7 using 'bootcamp 5.0' . I have already partitioned the drive as (mac Os Extended Journaled) and yet it seems bootcamp won't acknowledge this?
My first thoughts were that 'bootcamp' was out of date...needed an upgrade to register windows 7. Since then I am once again met with the same problem... how can it not see the I have already have a paritioned drived ready to be used for installition, is there a way to fix this problem? I don't really want to pay out for 'i-parition' only to merge my 2 drives back into one and start again from scratch =/. Seems silly to do so...what are my options?
Regards Swishi...p.s If anyone can help me...it'll make my day :3.

    ONE PARTITION.
You don't need to buy anything but you should have backups.
you can delete #2 you created. Then resize to full drive.
    There are already
    GPT
    EFI
    Mac
    Recovery
and there needs to be Windows which cannot be higher ID
Reading the instructions first and just swallow whatever pride or inidignation. It is a "my way or highwar" setup and utility,.

  • Unable to install Flash on older Mac-running 10.5.8

Help! Is anyone else unable to install an older version of Flash on their less-then brand new computer(PowerMacG4)?? I'm running 10.5.8. I've downloaded the Uninstaller(which has a pink x in the upper-right corner) but two versions of Flash remain on my computer. When I try to install the version of Flash which adobe has recommended I get this message:
             Adobe®Flash®Player cannot be installed.
Devices with PowerPC processsors are no longer
supported. Click below to download the last version
             Flash Player for PowerPC.
             Get Flash Player for PowerPC
I then click the"Get Flash…” which takes me to the same page which asks for the operating system I have and the version I need, I type in what they offer and go through the same thing.

Pulled this paragragh from an article talking about Apple pulling Flash from iOS in favor of HTML5..."Mac users take note: Flash requires OS X 10.6 or later running on an Intel platform since Adobe removed support for PowerPC Macs in Flash 10"
Not really sure what that all means, I believe I am not intel but PC. I will look into HTML5
