Unable to install or uninstall Quicktime

Something has gotten corrupted in Quicktime. I cannot run it, uninstall, or re-install. Error Messages refer to "installation source not available" and to quicktime.msi. Is there any utility or way to help me start fresh?

You are in the Quicktime for Mac OS forum.
You should try asking your question in the Quicktime for Windows form, where somebody might have an answer for you.

  • Bought new iPod but unable to install iTunes and Quicktime, so what now?

I tried to install iTunes, but when it gets to the Quicktime module, it stops working and says the following: This installer cannot upgrade QuickTime 7 for Windows Public Preview. Please uninstall it first."
OK, so how do I do this. There is NO Quicktime listed anywhere in my Add/Remove folder, and no Quicktime shows up when I run the word through the FIND search in Registry Editor.
If I cannot resolve this, I'll have to return the iPod to Apple as an unworkable gadget.

  • Unable to install Itunes or quicktime

I was installing Itunes back on my computer after installing a new ard drive and operating system, it took quicktime ok but hung on Itunes. Tried add remove on quicktime because itunes said it require quicktime and it was missing even though it had been used previously. Windows would not let me uninstall it said another instance was being installed, my guess was the hung itunes install. this was after I canceled the itunes install and restarted my system. I used the microsoft uninstall cleanup utility and it got the Quicktime and itunes listing off my computer but it still tells me that I need quicktime for itunes and if I try to install Quicktime it tells me another instance is already running.

  • Unable to install or uninstall because of prompts to close ie explorer

I am being prompted by video players to download Flash player. When I check my system it tells me that flash player 11 is installed, but it does not show up under programs. When I try to uninstall or install it prompts me to close ie explorer. I close ie explorer and the same prompt just keeps coming up. I have checked my firewall and anti-virus and ie explorer settings and all seem to be correct. I have also tried turning off my firewall and antivirus. I have tried running the offline uninstall and install as administrator and still no luck. I am running windows 7 with ie 10 and use AVG free and windows firewall.

You need to close all instances of Internet Explorer, even those running invisibly in the background.  Use the Task Manager's Processes tab to end all iexplore.exe processes.

  • ITunes errors (1603 and 1714)/Unable to Install iTunes/Uninstall Old iTunes

Help! Technically challenged here. I was running iTunes version 5.0 but that has become a problem, and when I went to install the newest version, I get the following error messages:
    1. "Error 1714: The older version of iTunes cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group."
    2. "Error 1603: Fatal error during installation. Consult Windows Installer Help (Msi.chm) or MSDN for more information."
I have tried to uninstall the old version, and it won't uninstall. And now, I have managed to mess up my Version 5.0, which now won't acknowledge my iPod as plugged in--so the old version doesn't even update the iPod.
This is a Windows XP Home, Service Pack 2. I'm running an iPod Mini with the iTunes.
Firstly, is there anyway to get my iPod to be recognized again on the old version of iTunes? I have to admit, I'm afraid to do drastic things on this computer while husband is deployed.
Any help you all can be would be greatly appreciated!

  • Unable to install and uninstall Adobe Flash Player

    Hi,
i hope there is someone here that can help me. i've recently upgraded to 10.4.11. There was a problem with safari, which i learned was related to Adobe Flash player. part of the fix is to uninstall the flash player. I downloaded the uninstaller and ran it. I noticed the progress bar didn't even move, it stayed at 0 for over 15 mins. I had to force quite the application.
I then tried running just the adobe flash installer. Similar problem.
the uninstaller and installers that were downloaded are both made for PowerPC macs.
Is there something wrong with my mac? someone please help me. i can't watch youtube or go to any flash heavy sites.

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATION" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up").
In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC. Now try another QuickTime install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • HELP cannot install itunes, uninstall itunes or uninstall quicktime

Hello - Went to upgrade my orig ver of itunes ver 6.0 to the video version to grab some music videos, and that is when all went to ****.
Got an error message that itunes was unable to install to my PC. PC is p4 running winXP sp2/3.
    Error code: -3
Went to uninstall itunes, and got another error message that itunes was unable to complete the task with NO error code.
Also went to uninstall quicktime, and apparently the uninstall is not on my computer. I reinstalled quicktime, which was successful, but after rebooting and then trying to uninstall quicktime again, i got same error message quicktime uninstall cannot be found, quicktime cannot be uninstalled.
I did manage to get itunes successfully uninstalled.
After reboot and clearing out temp files and cache then again rebooting, then attempting to reinstall itunes VER 6.0 just the plain version for windows, NOT the video version, i again got error message that itunes was unable to install on my PC.
    PLEASE HELP.
i cannot seem to load in a successful ver of itunes to listen to music, nor uninstall/install quicktime.
    FYI -
Quicktime will not work when opened through itunes and through start menu, but will work when opened in the program and actually clicking on the .exe button.
pls help! i just want regular ver of itunes without video now, just want to listen to music what i bought, thnx

YES it is a Windows 98 based software, since i was unable to find older ver of Quicktime, i used what i had.
Incidentally, i figured out that when i went to install the Video ver of itunes, the ver 6.0 did not completely uninstall, some files were somehow corrupted.
There is a round about fix located on the windows tech support section which deleted previous Windows installer programs that in turn deletes older versions of programs, you pick from a list that the program detects, and it will delete all older versions.
Here is the link, if you know anyone that needs it..
it fixed my PC, after using this program i was able to successfully install 1st- the standalone version of quicktime, then itunes without incident.

Nothing happens.  iTunes just hangs up every time, saying "Accessing iTunes Store."  It does that for a very, very long time, then nothing.  Here is what happens when I run diagnostics.

  • I am unable to install the latest update to iTunes, I get constant error messages, even when I attempt to uninstall iTunes completely and start afresh, iTunes is still listed in my program files on my hard drive and the shortcut is still on my desktop!?

Is there a bug with the latest update to iTunes because I am unable to install it, I get constant error messages if I try to open it after installing

    Hey there Mambo822,
It sounds like you are unable to open iTunes after installing a recent update. I would recommend the troubleshooting in the following article:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Sterling
