Unable to install OS 6 on Vista

I just gor the Blackberry Torch 9800 and want to update to the OS 6. When I go to dowloand OS 6 there is a failure message that states I need to download the microsoft visual C++ 2008 Redistributable first. So I am trying to install. When I do so it looks like it is about to install but then nothing happens. I have a 64 bit os so it should be fine to dowload the BB OS 6. Please help! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

I don't understand. Did you attempt to install the Microsoft C++ 2008 Redistributable? If so, what happened? If not, you need to do that. Go to microsoft.com and search for that.

  • I am still unable to install itunes in Windows Vista

I have tried to run Fix it 4 times now after doing other things suggested in the Apple community and I am still unable to install itunes. Do you have any other ideas?
I've been uninstalling/reinstalling and using CCcleaner, sfcscannow and nothing seems to correct error msg 2- corrupt files found/unable to fix.  Now what??????
I am using windows Vista.  I NEED help!

nothing seems to correct error msg 2
With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • Unable to install iTunes for Windows Vista

I recieved an apple ipod touch 32g for christmas and am unable to use it because I can not install iTunes.
I've tried following all the suggestion on other topics with similar problems.
Ive deleted Temp files and tried to install, Uninstalled all apple software from my computer and tried to reinstall. None of these worked.
I've also tried making a new user account and installing it there, and that hasn't worked either.
The error I am receiving is "There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
I also received the error when i attempted to uninstall Apple Software Updater when i was troubleshooting. I got a fatal error trying to repair it and then i restarted my computer and it wasn't on my installed programs list anymore.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

That suggests we've got trouble with the AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi (and related installation configuration information) on your PC.
Unfortunately, these sorts of msi-related troubles have gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any *Apple Software Update* entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try reinstalling iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • Unable to install Vista OR XP (SP2)

    Any help is appreciated here.
I've been running this Imac for months with dual boot via boot camp and have had no issues. Suddenly, last week, Vista will not boot. Missing file boot/bcd error
Due to my frustration, I figured I'd wipe Vista and reinstall (I use windows for gaming only).
I deleted that partition, created a new one and since have been unable to install Vista OR XP (which I tried as an alternative). I can create a 90 GB partition and Vista begins to install but it sees ONLY my Macintosh HD as a whole and can't see the partition. XP on the other hand can see the partition and installs but very slowly. The installed result is too slow for web browsing in fact.
This tells me that something is going on with the boot sector possibly in the files under bootcamp that allow you do choose the OS at startup.
So I then booted to my OSX install disk and did an install and archive thinking I would get a fresh copy of OSX and clean out any offending files. This proved to be the same result.
Does anyone have any ideas that may help? I would prefer not to wipe the HDD and begin from scratch as that means recreating profiles and importing photos, music and bookmarks for 4 users in the family on Leopard.
    Thoughts?

I was able to recreate all the issues using both XP and Vista install discs this evening for tech support.
Next steps after several this evening will be the following:
    1. Run the OSX Utilities from the OSX Install disc
    2. reformat the entire hard drive (low level format)
    3. Clean install of OSX
    4. Run all updates
    5. Install Vista with Boot camp
If that all works, I'll restore the MacHD from time machine.
If anyone has any other suggestions as well, I'd welcome them!

  • Unable to install CS3 Web Premium on Vista

I recently purchased CS3 Web Premium. When I try to install it, it fails. The message I get is - Error 1310.Error writing to file
C:\Config.Msi\43361.rbf. Verify that you have access to that directory.
I am running on Vista Home Premium - Service Pack 1.
I turned off User Account Control and I have reset the ownership and permissions for the ProgramData folder as directed in the forum.
Still can't load the software.  One thing I find strange about this message is that I don't have a Config.Msi folder.  I even tried creating one but that didn't help either.
    Please help!

I still have not been able to get this resolved completely. However, I have been able to get the error 1013 from popping up.
I had originally started off doing these steps from Adobe's site : http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/401/kb401528.html however I had no luck with any of the 3 solutions. I then found this link : http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-compatibility-mode/ and this seemed to have taken the error 1013 from popping up.
However, now when I go to intall it...it will run through the whole installation process which takes 30 mins!!! To only tell me that all the programs were unable to install and to finish. I thought I was getting somewhere with this and then another road block. I can't believe I've now spent 2 days on this going on three.
I also had downloaded some scan program that states they can get Adobe Software installed and take away the errors by cleaning my system. Wait I'm confused here because my system is BRAND NEW. This program also cost like 40 bucks. I had contacted them wondering how on earth they can claim such a thing on a brand new computer...and that there "scan" had shown my brand new laptop with thousands of errors!!! ???? !!!! They only answered that I needed to buy their software to find out...obviously skipping that option.
So this is my last solution to try to fix the problem...I'm running it right now with like 12 games up and running so we'll see if Speed is the problem. here's the link on that topic. http://www.ask.com/bar?q=C%3A\Config.Msi&page=1&qsrc=2417&ab=2&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.vistax64 .com%2Fvista-general%2F187289-c-config-msi-problem.html
Last resort will to call support but after reading all the forums I'm dreading the sound of it...someone had spent 6 hours on the phone with not results only to have NO working programs instead of the pre-version they had in working order. Also I'm not sure that I'll be getting any help...it sounds that you need the most recent version.
If this does not work...I'm seriously considering sending back my brand new laptop back in that it was the ONLY reason why I bought the thing was to be able to work while I was away from home. Apparently, I won't be able to do so...or buy a whole new program or license which to me sound rediculous in that I've spent just like everyone else on here the amount for the software and was told that I could have it installed on two computers as long as they were not being used at the same time. Understood but not seem to be working out that way.

  • Unable to Install Universal Wireless Keyboard with the CD that came with the Palm Tungsten E2 on my Windows Vista OS. Can some help? Would Appreciate it very much.

I recently bought a Palm Tungsten E2. I have been unable to install the Universal Wireless Keyboard software that came with the E2. Went online and downloaded the version 1.13 UWK and that would not install either. What did I do wrong?
    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

For Vista that version will not let you install programs. Good news though is we have a version you can. Go here, http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/windesk62.html and install this on top of the version you already have. There is going to be a few changes on the desktop, there is no quick install, but the install tool.
Once you have that done just double click on keyboard and it will ask you your hotsync name and sync and your done.
Oh as a side note the check if this is your solution is only if the answer solves your original question.
Message back if you have more question or need more help

SAPinst is having problems starting up.
Please post the sapinst.log file from C:\Program Files\sapinst_dir
Make sure you do the following.
    1.) Turn off Windows Firewall
    2.) Turn off UAC (http://www.petri.co.il/disable_uac_in_windows_vista.htm)
    3.) Install right version of JRE/JDK (1.4.2 Update 29)
4.) Set the correct User Environment Variables (JAVA_HOME, SAPSYSTEMNAME)
5.) Delete all SAP folders/contents in TEMP folder of your user profile (C:/Users/ULRICH~1.HNP/AppData/Local/Temp/.....).
5.) Delete C:\Program Files\sapinst_dir\ folder.  This will be recreated when SAPinst starts again.
Give this a shot and see what happens.

    Ravi
