Unable to install OS X 10.5.2 upgrade from OS X 10.4.11

Hello,
I've been trying to install an upgrade on OS X 10.4.11 on my iMac G5 PowerPC from OS. X 10.5.2 discs. I keep getting the error message "Mac OS X cannot be installed on this computer".
I've checked the discussion posts and tried all of the following to no avail:
- Archive & Install from my original 10.4 discs
- Performed software updates including 10.4.11 Combo Update
- Searched for Firmware updates but couldn't find any for my computer
- Performed Repair Disk & Repair Permissions on the Mac HD
If anyone has any further suggestions, I'd be grateful.
Thanks

If those disks came with a Mac, they can't be used on an iMac G5. You need to use a retail package.

  • Installing CS4 Design Standard as an upgrade from InDesign

Installing CS4 Design Standard as an upgrade from InDesign CS on Mavericks OS but serial numbers not valid.  Is there a keystroke to override this hangup?

Thanks kglad,  I have attempted all of your suggestions with no success.  This is a specific unique issue requiring a special set of keyboard commands to unlock or override my s/n.  The product is an upgrade from an old InDesign CS.  The InDesign CS is not on the harddrive, I cannot install the InDesign CS again after Mavericks upgrade.  The CS4 install routine does not present an opportunity to enter the InDesign CS s/n when I attempt a trial install and launch. The initial install required a call to Adobe support and special keystrokes were provided from support to "open" the software.  Please help.  Adobe support via CHAT are not able to access this information.

  • Unable to install Power2Go & Trend Micro antivirus after upgrade to windows 7

Hi. Recently I received my free windows 7 Upgrade Kit from Lenovo. (fulfillment)
Installed it and inserted the driver dvd to install the drivers from the dvd automatically.
Everything went fine but the power2go software wasn't installed.
Downloaded this file from Lenovo's Software & driver website, and during installation it popped up a window saying This product can only be installed on a lenovo desktop. I would dearly like to use this software. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Also, I called tech support, and was advised to go to the same place where I downloaded the file, to file a feedback. However, after entering the 4 paragraph from above along with my contact details, and submit, it gave me a pop-up window saying submit error..
btw, I am using Lenovo Ideacentre A600, and also no idea where to post this question as there isnt a dedicated place to post for A series Ideacentre.

OK, I downloaded winRAR and did as suggested above, and it still did not work. This time it seems to recognize my PC as a Lenovo, but I get error 1719 (unable to find installer) at the end.
I spent almost 2 hours on the phone with tech support, and I still don't have this issue resolved! although the man was very pleasant and had a lot of suggestions, which we tried unsuccessfully. I would love to know if anyone has solved these issues in any way other than re-purchasing the software, which I do not want to do, although it is the obvious solution.

  • Ibook G4 unable to install Mac OX 10.5.4 upgrade

I purchased a DVD of MAC OS 10.5.4 Retail for my iBook G4 running 10.3.9.  After double clicking to install, then clicking the reset the computer restarts and
a black box with " You need to restart your computer. Hold down the power button for several seconds or press the restart button." No matter what I try I can not get the computer to boot from the DVD, I have tried holding down the c and restart and holding the option and restarting and then choosing the DVD as start up but sill get the black box.  How do install this upgrade?

The 800 MHz iBook G4 from Oct  2003 to April 2004 could be upgraded to 10.4.11 maximum according to macTracker.

  • Unable to install os x (10.5.8) update from 10.5.4

I've been trying to update my os from 10.5.4>10.5.8 with zero luck. After it apparently downloads restart occurs and once installation proceeds it freezes. I've tried leaving it for 20-30 minutes to see if that works-no avail. I've googled the problem without any help. Tried the stand alone option only to be told by disk utility that the os x 10.5.8 dmg failed to mount.
Anyone out there know what I should do?
    Thanks
    Stef

did you download the combo update? try that?

if the dmg failed to mount it means that it was corrupted.

  • Cannot install DVD/CD ROM drive after upgrading from Windows 7

I had a working DVD/CD-ROM drive before upgrading. Now it shows as Unknown Device in Device Manager, I tried uninstalling it and then scanned for hardware changes but it still does not work. I also tried manually selecting a CD-ROM drive for it but it
ends up with an error code 31. I also checked for {4d36e965-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318} registry but it did not have lowerfilters key. How do I install the driver for it?

    Hi,
The error code 31 means that Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device.
Considering that this issue mostly can be caused by compatible issue.
Please check if you can fine the latest driver from Manufacturer’s website. If so, try to install it under Windows 10 compatibility mode: Right click the installer of the driver, choose Properties, choose Windows 7 under Compatibility
    mode to install.
If the CD device still fails to work, I recommend to check the setupapi.dev.log under %windir%\inf, locate the device and find the line below:
    dvi:             Rank         - 0x00000000
Then, corresponds the score in this link:
    Identifier Score
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff546297(v=vs.85).aspx
The value 0x00003000 is the best identifier score and the value 0x00003FFF is the worst identifier score.
The score near 0x00003FFF means that the driver and device may not compatible with current system, we may need to wait for the menufacturer’s driver update.
    Thanks for your understanding.

  • Which Install DVD do I need to upgrade from Tiger to Leopard?

I have the (late 2005) iBook G4 1.42 GHz, upgraded to 1.5 GB RAM.  I am currently running Mac OS 10.4.11 Tiger, and I have the install discs that came with the computer.  I want to upgrade to Leopard so that I can run some programs (like iSale and iLife '09) that require Mac OS 10.5 or higher.  I noticed that Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) isn't even available anymore on the Apple website.  I want to purchase the DVDs for Leopard on eBay (or somewhere else online), but I keep seeing several different versions being advertised.  I've seen the following: "Mac OS X Leopard Install Software", "Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.2 Install Disc", "Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.4 Install Disc", "Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.5 Install Disc", and "MacBook 13" Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.6 Install Disc" (among others).  Which one of these do I need to get?  Will any of them work on my computer?  Are some of them designed to work only on specific hardware platforms (ie. specific Mac models)?

Hi, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
You need the FULL RETAIL Install DVD.
Are some of them designed to work only on specific hardware platforms (ie. specific Mac models)?
Yes; that's why you need the full retail Install version.

Amazon still has it (as do some of their Marketplace Sellers).

  • Installing CS4 Design Standard as an upgrade from CS Premium

I just got a shiny new iMac running Yosemite and when attempting to install, I get the dreaded Invalid Serial Number.
The serial number you entered does not match the product you selected. Please reenter the serial number or select a different product to upgrade.
I have both of these products and their corresponding discs and the serial numbers right in front of me. Any suggestions?

    Thanks Mandeep5062,
This led me to further investigation and I knew that I had to be missing something here. That something was that I had originally upgraded like this: CS>CS2>CS4.
I was inputting my CS serial number and needed my CS2 serial number for the upgrade.
And for some reason, I no longer have the discs or box for CS2. But, thanks to an old post-it note that I somehow managed to still have, I actually found my CS2 serial number!
I'm almost embarrassed that I did not figure this out sooner.
So, I have finally successfully installed CS4!
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi,
I had a small composite deployed in 11.1.1.6 and after an upgrade to 11.1.1.7 I am getting
    javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: Message send failed: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException:
    PKIX path building failed:
sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target
Does it mean that my soa composite now cannot validate the certificate of the server it is trying to connect to?
Can somebody share thoughts on how to fix it?
    Thank you,
    Anatoliy

    Hi Robert,
Thank you much for the quick response. Not having big knowledge under my belt in this area I tried
    1. Changed the keystore passphrase under my managed weblogic domain for the Demo Identity Keystore
    2. ./keytool -importcert -alias avsclient -keystore /dnat8o/fmw/jrockit-jdk1.6.0_29-R28.2.2-4.1.0/jre/lib/security/cacerts -file client_cer.cer
Was prompted with the password but entering what I did enter in step 1 didn't help. Do I have to bounce the managed server once I change the passphrase, if what I a mdoing makes sense at all, not sure
    Thank you,
    Anatoliy

    @ajoe
With 510.21.001 there remains possibility that Orange branded firmware could be re-installed, whereas if it was 50.21.009 it couldn't.
Without reading the actual product code which is beyond the remit of what is allowed on this forum I can't be more specific than that unfortunately; but human nature being what it is it would have involved an extra stage for which guy probably didn't think he was being paid for to return device to product code 0570108(Grey Steel) or 0578175(White Steel) on Orange France after re-flashing.

  • CS4 unable to encode videos after upgrading from CS3

CS4 was unable to export and encode a video after upgrading from CS3.  The error message indicated the the file could not be found.  To fix this problem do the following.  Create a short cut to adobe premiere pro (executable program) named "Premiere"     Then place the short cut in the folder C:Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/dynamiclink    After doing this my version worked fine.

The problem mainly occures when one then removes the CS3 version of Adobe Premiere.   I have found a tech note on this problem at:
