So if I have DDR2 Ram, there is no possibility of upgrading to Mavericks?
I installed mavericks onto an external hard drive (using a backup of my early
2011 mac book pro), tried to boot it with my early 2008 macbook and
this is what the screen looks like. Hoping to install Mavericks on my early 2008 macbook too.
Any advice would be appreciated

Yes, I reviewed all the requirements...and yes, I have the required disk space. Frustrating experience, this is. So far, everything else seems to be working out as I expected.

same error. My files are still on the disk, It just won't accept Yosemite ans Mavericks seems to not be there

  • HT201364 I am unable to install OS X Mavericks on my macbook air 13" it asks me to remove items from my start up disk...how do I do that?

How does one remove items in the start up disk....
    Thank you

You apparently have filled your boot disk to a point where the remaining space is below Mavericks installation requirements. It is implying that you need to review your login directory for very large files, or folders.
Open a new Finder window. In the left nav, select your short login name. Then change the View to list view. If the Size column arrow is pointing up, click it to down and your folders and files will be listed in descending storage use. The folders with an engraved emblem on them were created by the operating system, so do not remove them. Also, resist removing Apple applications found in /Applications.
Top candidates would be huge iTunes Music or applications content, iPhoto, or video collections. Whatever is taking up your storage will stand out. Generally, you should stay out of your Library folder.

  • HT201364 I am unable to redownload OS X Mavericks on a Late 2013 new Macbook Pro 13". I get a message saying "We could not complete your purchase" " OS X Mavericks can not be installed on this computer"

I am unable to redownload OS X Mavericks on a Late 2013 new Macbook Pro 13". I get a message saying "We could not complete your purchase" " OS X Mavericks can not be installed on this computer"
I nee an easy way to resolve this with Apple.

why is it this problematic to resolve?! obviously there's a valid installer image for our macs, why can we not have access to it to use on our laptops?
I do not understand, nor accept the explanation given before - about it being a newer model... it doesn't make sense... how does that translate to "no download available".
also, if it was a valid point - we would have had that download with the release of 10.9.1 - which we don't.

  • I have a iMac 5,1 made b/t 7/23/07-7/29/07 but have OS X 10.6.8 w/ 2GB mem but unable to install Maverick, Garage band and iPhoto.  Please help.  Thanks!

I have a iMac 5,1 made b/t 7/23/07-7/29/07 but have OS X 10.6.8 w/ 2GB mem but unable to install Maverick, Garage band and iPhoto. Would installing Snow Leopard 10.6.8 make it possible to install Maverick?  Please help.  Thanks!

The highest OS X version you can install on your model iMac is OS X Lion 10.7.5.
To get to this! you would need to purchase the retail OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD, first.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
OS X 10.7 Lion is no longer available, directly, from the Mac App Store. You need to contact Apple at 1-800-MYAPPLE and ask for retail software sales and tell them you would like to upgrade your Mac to OS X 10.7 Lion and they will give you a special download code to download it from the Mac App Store.

  • On a Mac, unable to install latest Flash Player 12.0.0.44--or reinstall previous version that worked

I am on a Mac running the last version of Snow Leopard before Mavericks, 10.8.5.  I am unable to install the new Flash Player 12.0.0.4--at about the 50% mark on the installing bar, it stops and I get an error message that installation failed.  The version I had previously for some time, either 10. or 11. worked perfectly but I am not unable to reinstall any previous version either.  So I have a project I cannot run that requires Flash Player and can't watch videos.
I found someone in a forum who mentioned he'd seen several people on Snow Leopard unable to install Flash Player but his directions to overcome that which did work for someone who tried it, appear to be for PC's: from his first direction of right-clicking, I didn't get the option he says to click on that starts the process.
Can anyone tell me how to install this new Flash Player in a Mac on Snow Leopard?  Should I trash all the new versions of the installer and the Flash Player Debugger Version 11.4.402.287 (11.4) that I have from a previous installment, prior to trying again?
    Thanks for any help.

What I'm looking for is specifically the "General Installation Error", since it's 10.8.5.
You're missing a file that was made visible by the 10.8.5 update. Hundreds of thousands of Mac users all over the world deleted it, not knowing what it was. It causes this when it's missing.
Download this file: "Secrets" pereference pane
    And this one: mach_kernel.zip
Install Secrets, and open your System Preferences.
Open the Secrets Preference Pane, and check "Show hidden files"
You'll need to press the "Quit this" button,
and restart Finder, by right clicking the Dock icon.
Then, place the mach_kernel.zip file in the Mac HD directory,
and unzip it. You should see a "faded" mach_kernel file appear.
    Trash the zip file.
Reopen your System Preferences and uncheck "Show Hidden files".
Instead of quitting Finder and relaunching it, reboot your Mac.
Your Flash Player installer won't quit anymore.

  • Unable to install adobe flashplayer on mac 10.9.2

Hi I recently upgraded to 10.9.2 and I am unable to install Adobe Flashplayer on Safari.  I've done an uninstall and downloaded and tried to reinstall but it hangs a little more than halfway.  All I get is an error message saying there's an error - no specifics.
Any help here please?  Thanks in advance!

Are you trying to install this: Adobe Flash Player 12.0.0.77?
I would suggest doing the following:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    Try installing Flash again.

  • Unable to download OS X Mavericks 10.9.4

When I try to install OS X Mavericks 10.9.4 it will install and I can see it in my systems but the APP Store still shows that I have updates needed. I've been trying to use iTunes to restore my iPad mini but getting an error that iTunes needs to be updated, I've also tried to install each one individually. This is an issue on both my MacBook Pro and iMac. Any help is greatly appreciated.

A little more details of the situation:
So both my MacBook Pro and my iMAC are showing that there is new software that needs to updated which are apart of the OS X 10.9.4 update combo, take it my computer is updated to 10.9.4 but in the app update section it shows I need yo update the iTunes  11.4, iBook 1.0.1 and Safari 7.0.6... Now when you look at the bottom of the updates at the "Updates installed in the last 30 days" all of the above are updated.
But the issues are: I can't get rid of that red 1 for updates (yes I've tried putting the time into the future 6 months and longer no help) and
I'm trying to restore my iPad and Apple TV which neither MacBook Pro or iMac are allowing it because it is saying unable to connect to network which clearly I'm connected to the internet... I'm using Verizon for home internet as well.
    - I've tried installing the above individually but it keeps saying calculating yet no movement left it up for over 24 hours with numerous reboots... about ready to throw both out the window..

  • Help unable to install OS X as hard drive not visible in internet recovery mode

    Hi
    I have a MacBook Pro
During use my screen froze and I had to force quit. Since then I have tried the following:
    Turning on in safe mode
Internet recovery - no mac hd or partition recovery drive are visible in disk utility only OS X base system
Unable to install maverick as there's no disc visible to select
If I try to verify the start up disc is greyed out
    Starting up with cmd r
    Tried to reset PRAM
Start up disc does not display anything
ALL TO NO AVAIL, is the hard drive defunct or is there anything else I can try ?
    Many thanks for your help
    Elie

See this thread, this is 3rd regarding recovery/restore - as a starting point.
Obviously it is easier if you have a couple backups, a drive you can use, and don't mind erasing the internal drive.
It is a lot easier then. And it would be easier if you didn't have a notebook. This forum is not MacBook Pro but the tower or workstation.

  • Unable to install "InstallESD.dmg" file from OS X Mounstain Lion?

    Hi,
Unable to install "InstallESD.dmg" file from OS X Mounstain Lion, i've downloaded OS X Mavericks and installed on other machine. However, i took backup of "Show Package Contents" before installing. When i try to install ""InstallESD.dmg" file some other Mac machine. When i double click on it its open Packages folder instead of installer.
Please suggest me, how can i install OS X Mavericks for My Mac machines.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Suresh Balakrishnan.

Unfortunately with OS X Mavericks you can't use the InstallESD.dmg file as an installer. You have to use either DiskMaker X 3.0.4 or Mavericks Bootable Disk Creation Tool or do an Internet search for the Terminal command that can be used to create a bootable Mavericks installer on an external drive (e,g, USB thumb drive).
You will need the Install OS X Mavericks.app from the Mac App Store to use with all of the above solutions.

  • Unable to Install Windows 7 using Boot Camp Assistant

I recently suffered a hard disk failure. After replacing the disk, I have recovered all data with the exception of being unable to install windows 7 on a new boot camp partition.  I am able to create the partition using boot camp assistant, but I am subsequently been unable to install windows following the directions provided.  Any help would be appreciated.  I have a late 2009 27" iMac running OSX Mavericks.

It depends of the OS X version you're using. If it's 10.6, insert the Mac OS X DVD and install them.
    If it's 10.7 or 10.8:
    1. Press X key while your Mac is starting to start into OS X.
    2. Open Boot Camp Assistant, download drivers and burn them into a DVD or USB drive.
    3. Start into Windows and install Boot Camp drivers
