Unable to Install otn sample "hrapp" on Oracle As 10g(9.0.4)
Hi:
I have Oracle AS 10g (9.0.4) and Oracle 9i database running on a windows 2000 professional box.
I am trying to deploy the otn sample "hrapp" on the app server, but deployment fails with the following error (see below). I did define the datasource as suggested by the doc. Am I missing anything? Seems that, the app server is unable to resolve datasource in the JNDI.
Did anybody come across this kind of issue? Is there anykind of JNDI browser available? Any ideas/pointers are welcome..

Installing ArcSDE 9.2 for Oracle version 10G R2 on Windows 2003 x64
We submitted this question on an ESRI user forum, but we would also like to submit it elsewhere to ensure an answer.
We are trying to install ArcSDE 9.2 for Oracle. The version of Oracle is 10G R2 (10.2.0.1). The server is a Windows 2003 R2 Enterprise x64 edition with SP1. There are now 2 instances of Oracle on the server, but this problem originally occurred when there was only one instance. The issue: ArcSDE 9.2 apparently installs just fine. There are no error messages during the run of the installation process. However, when the Post-Installation process is called, a critical error alert pops up reporting, "The application failed to start because OCI.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application might fix this problem." ArcSDE has been uninstalled and reinstalled several times. Oracle has been uninstalled and reinstalled several times. Various searches have been made, concerning this error message. On Friday the only ESRI Article we could find mentioning this error was Article ID: 25388 which stated that the "ORA81/bin" directory needed to be added to the PATH environment variable. However, today we found a new ESRI forum entry dated 6/2/2007 with the querystring "c=2&f=1717&t=223961" in which someone reported the need to install the 32 bit Oracle_HOME. However the ESRI Support Center article he referenced, (dated November 14, 2006), stated that the 32 bit Oracle Client needed to be installed to a different Oracle_HOME and the service name created for it, is to be used in the Post-Installation process. And finally our Oracle DBA reported seeing another Support Center Article which stated that the 32 bit versions of the Oracle libraries are installed by default in a different location, and it was only necessary to add that location to the PATH environment variable. I have also seen information on Oracle forums stating that this message means that the Oracle client needed to be installed, but our Oracle DBA reports that this is installed by default with Oracle DB server. My question is of course which if any of these solutions is correct?
E.R. Joell MCSD MCDBAI have managed an ORacle/ArcSDE environment for many years where multiple SIDs were running.
If it doesn't know which SID then it would indicate that it is picking up the wrong ORACLE_SID environment setting. To be honest, UNIX is an easier environment to operate software in as one can set environment variables to suit software very directly. Now I have not run ArcSDE on a Windows environment before so any suggestions I have may not work as I write them.
Still, I would suggest you consider writing a CMD/batch script that:
1. Set all appropriate Oracle environment variables DIRECTLY eg
SET ORACLE_BASE=c:\oracle\product
SET ORACLE_HOME=c:\oracle\product\10.2.01
SET ORACLE_SID=...
2. Set the ArcSDE environment
3. Sets the Path to include all Oracle, ArcSDE and required Windows executables
4. Start the ArcSDE service:
NET START ESRARCSDE (or whatever this thing is called)
I suspect if you can get this going you will never go back to any other method of starting and managing ArcSDE (this approach works and works well on UNIX so you will be all skilled up to migrate across to Linux/Solaris etc if you see fit).
Hope this helps.
PS I have run ArcSDE against non-supported versions quite successfully over the years so I would say try it against 10.2.0.1 and see what happens.

Unable to Install the Common Components and Oracle HTTP Server
I am installing the Hyperion 11.1.2.1.0 in Linux 64 bit server..
I have done the downloading the files from 1to 7 for Foundation Services and Static client with all Essbase.
I have unziped the all into one folder and done the installation , but i am not able to install the Oracle HTTP serve and common components.even If i tired to configure the system showing the Below error...

It seems that if SIA cannot connect to CMS after the installation, it will not be shown in the CCM.

Unable to work with ODAC, VS2008 and Oracle Database 10g XE
I have downloaded and installed ODAC 11.1.0.6.21. I have followed the instructions in the 2 Day + .Net Developer's Guide (Chapter 3 - Building a Simple .NET Application Using ODP.NET) until I got to adding reference: when I added the Oracle.DataAccess 2.111.6.20, I observed that the new Refererence did not appear in Solution Explorer as described in the Guide.
However I continued with the steps until I got to the testing phase, ran the form and entered Hr for User Id, Hr for Password and XE for data Source as I am running Oracle 10g XE. I got this error with every attempt: ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified.
From Server Explorer however, I can connect and see Schema Objects but when I right click Packages for eg, to create a procedure that uses a Ref Cursor I see only Refresh and Properties in the corresponding context menu, no New Package link!
What could be the cause of all these?
1. Is XE my correct Data Source?
2. Why is the new Reference not visible in my solution explorer?
3. Is my VS2008 or ODAC not configured/Installed Correctly?The tnsnames.ora file seem to be auto configured. However I tried updating it with Notepad when I changed my computer name to no avail. I had to revert back to my old computer name.

Unable to install Oraclei 8.1.7 on P4 machine
I am unable to install the above version of Oracle on a IBM P4 machine with 256 MB RAM.
Got the following message while installing:
JRE was not found at:
d:\software\Oracle8i\stage\components\Oracle.swd.jre/1.1.7.24/1/Datafiles/Expanded/jre\win32\bin\jrew.exe
Install jre 1.1.7 or above and continue.
After getting the above message, I installed jre 1.1.8_09.
Inspite of this, the installation is not commencing.
The documentation is silent of this. However, it does mention that that it may possibly happen with a Novell Netware system due to the filenames being restricted to 8 characters.
I did try this out to and named the installation directory of jre with 8 characters. But the problem still persists.
Looking forward to a solution from some Oracle gurus.

Not only will OUI be affected by this bug, most of the post-install
configuration tools will also be affected. Running these tools with "-nojit"
specified will avoid the hang, but it is not simple to specify "-nojit" for
some of the products.
The following workaround works for the Windows operating system:
a. Copy only the install directory from the CD to the hard disk ,say, e:\temp.
b. Open oraparam.ini and make the following modifications (Assuming CD
drive is f:)
* Change the "SOURCE=" line to use the full path to the CD instead of a
relative path. (i.e., SOURCE=f:\stage\products.jar)
* Change the "JRE_LOCATION" line to use the full path to the CD instead of a
relative path. (i.e.,
JRE_LOCATION=f:\stage\Components\oracle\swd\jre\1.1.7\1\DataFiles\Expanded)
* Change the "OUI_LOCATION" line to use the full path to the CD instead of a
relative path. (i.e.,
OUI_LOCATION=f:\stage\Components\oracle\swd\oui\1.6.0.9.0\1\DataFiles\Expanded
* Change the "JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS" line to add "-nojit" as the first argument.
(i.e., JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS=-nojit -ms16m -mx32m)

c. Launch setup.exe from the temporary location on your hard drive (i.e.
e:\temp\install\win32\setup.exe). This will use the modified
oraparam.ini and pick up the information from the CD since the absolute
locations are specified.
Choose a Custom install and choose not to create a database during the
install. This way, the Database Configuration Assistant will not be launched
during installation.
The Net8 Configuration Assistant will still be launched, and there is no way
to suppress it. You will need to kill the Net8 Configuration Assistant if it
hangs due to the bug. The installation still will have been successful, and
you can run the DBCA and NetCA after installation.
To kill NetCA if it hangs during installation:
In the "Configuration Tools" window, highlight the "Net8 Configuration
Assistant" and click "Stop". If that does not work, look for the most recent
JRE process using the Task Manager, and kill it manually. NOTE: the OUI
itself will also have a jre process. Be sure to kill the one with the most
recent date, which should be the jre process being used for Net8CA, not the
one for OUI itself.
After killing the configuration tools and continuing through the installation
to the "End of Installation" screen, you should modify the configuration tools
to use "-nojit", then call the appropriate tools from the Start Menu.
Once installation is complete, each of the following files in the ORACLE_HOME
needs to be modified:
assistants\dbca\dbassist.cl
assistants\dbma\dbmig.cl
assistants\ifa\ifa.cl
bin\elogin.cl
bin\owm.cl
ldap\oidamdin\oidadmin.cl
network\tools\netasst.cl
network\tools\netca.cl
owm\install\instelogin.cl
owm\install\instowm.cl
Edit the contents of the above files to add "-nojit" as shown below:

this is the only thing you need to add --> ^^^^^^
Then, launch the necessary tools, like Net8CA and DBCA from the Start Menu. -
Install of Oracle database 10g
I have installed 1 CD of the oracle database 10g. I have an icon, and can get into the system with my ID and password, but do I need a host string? I keep gettting a time out message and there is no reference to what this is? I am a student taking basic database class and the book the CDs came from is Modern Database Management , I am trying to get into SQL plus, do I need to place it in another file? I am operating off of windows, is there something wrong?

Mary McClureApologies. That log was overwritten. I re-ran the install (basic) and left the create starter database box unchecked. I still received the missing file error I mentioned above, I did not get a database configuration assistant error however the DBCA still does not work.
Install logs are not overwritten - AFAIK, they have timestamps appended to them - Troubleshooting the Oracle Database Installation
I would not worry about the one missing file error reported for now. The database software install seems to be successful. What does "DBCA still does not work" mean ? Pl post the contents of the DBCA log file and any error codes/messages encountered.

AL Sqlplus Trying to run either by CMD, Windows or IsqlPlus, get the error that must specify the Oracle Home,
As I.Oracle Database 10g R2, worked isqlplus correctly,
enterprise to manager, until I installed the DNS and
DHCP, that I must do.
It appears to initiate dbconsoleThat means your original IP Address have changed.
One error is that you will not be able to start DB Console because it is looking for the old IP.
One thing to do to resolve this, is that you need to install a Loopback Adaptar. Another is that is it references something like locahost on the $ORACLE_HOME/<servername_SID folder, you can make a copy of it to the new DNS or domain name, but you may need to do some changed in the cofig files which will be a long one if you do not know what to do.
Another option it to drop the doconsole (not the database) and recreate it. But not that with this option, if you disconnect from your DHCP/DNS within the domain, it will starting for another IP.
So that key here is that the original IP that the DB console knows has changed. -

I uninstalled it from control panel.
but now i am unable to install it again

The install cannot proceed as service OracleServiceXE is present on the system.
Remove the sevice,reboot the system and retry the installation.
I have tried reboot the system so many times after uninstall also.

I am trying to install the Oracle 10.2.0.2 client but it gives an internal error and the installation gets terminated.It creates a log and .err file I am pasting the contents of the log file. Please let me know if any of you can help.

Unable to install Oracle 9.0.1 on Linux RedHat
Hi,
I am unable to install Oracle 9.0.1 on Linux RedHat, tried many times. While installing i get following errors-

Thanks in advance.There are many versions of RedHat. Your post indicates you are using one of them, but your post really does not give a hint as to which one. Funny thing is - different versions have different install requirements.
I really don't understand why operating system version is such a big secret. Especially since it is logically so critical to installation issue. Even when installing on Windows, the first questions is 'which Windows'.
You have, of course, followed the suggestions at http://www.puschitz.com and noted the errors and workarounds, have you not.
Especially about things like packages and versions. -
Unable to install Oracle Developer Suite 10 on SuSe Linux 11.0

I have installed Oracle 11g on SuSe Linux 11.0 with no issues. I am unable to install Oracle Developer Suite10.12.02 on same (SuSe 11.0). The installation gets to about 94% and then fails with the following error:

The only serious flaw I can see in the config is that I'm using libstd++ 4.3 instead of the requested 3.2.2 which 'should' be acceptable as it's a newer version - can anyone help please? Thanks in advance for any helpful advice anyone can offer.

Application delivered/staging area /unable to install using Oracle Installer
I have developed a prototype product application in form developer and used project builder in managing the project ready for delivery to recepient i.e. stand alone PC WIN 2k. I tried installing the product using the ORACLE INSTALLER but it doesnt register the application,supposedly the application will resides in the look up box at the left corner of the ORA installer 'labelled' the 'FROM' it was empty.
Can i have some idea why is it happened in this way? Is there any setting to be done before i can install the application.
