Unable to install reader on my Mac

I can open installer, then drop down box comes up with my name already listed.  When I enter my password, it doesn't accept it.  I have changed passwords and it still doesn't work.  Help?

I didn't think it required logging in either, but this is what I get.  When I enter my password, it doesn't work.

  • Unable to Install AbobeFlashPlayer 16 on Mac running Yosemite 10.10.1

When i try to download the software in which it downloads the installer i get a ".mdip" file that all it does when opened is open a TextEdit script on my mac and NOT the AdobeFlashPlayer Installer and clearly i am unable to install the latest AdobeFlashPlayer.
I attached a photo of the file that gets downloaded off of adobes official site that installs the latest software, and i also attached a file of the text that is opened when i selected the file that i downloaded off of the website.
If anyone can help me that would be Great!

This means that your computer (or some software on your computer) added the '.mdip' extension to your dmg downloads.
Suggestion: download the offline installer http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/latest/help/install_flash_player_osx.dmg
If it also gets that .mdip extension, remove it, then run the dmg installer.
If you have more questions, please ask in the Flash Player forum.

  • Unable to install adobe flashplayer on mac 10.9.2

Hi I recently upgraded to 10.9.2 and I am unable to install Adobe Flashplayer on Safari.  I've done an uninstall and downloaded and tried to reinstall but it hangs a little more than halfway.  All I get is an error message saying there's an error - no specifics.
Any help here please?  Thanks in advance!

Are you trying to install this: Adobe Flash Player 12.0.0.77?
I would suggest doing the following:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    Try installing Flash again.

  • Unable to install Flash on older Mac-running 10.5.8

Help! Is anyone else unable to install an older version of Flash on their less-then brand new computer(PowerMacG4)?? I'm running 10.5.8. I've downloaded the Uninstaller(which has a pink x in the upper-right corner) but two versions of Flash remain on my computer. When I try to install the version of Flash which adobe has recommended I get this message:
             Adobe®Flash®Player cannot be installed.
Devices with PowerPC processsors are no longer
supported. Click below to download the last version
             Flash Player for PowerPC.
             Get Flash Player for PowerPC
I then click the"Get Flash…” which takes me to the same page which asks for the operating system I have and the version I need, I type in what they offer and go through the same thing.

Pulled this paragragh from an article talking about Apple pulling Flash from iOS in favor of HTML5..."Mac users take note: Flash requires OS X 10.6 or later running on an Intel platform since Adobe removed support for PowerPC Macs in Flash 10"
Not really sure what that all means, I believe I am not intel but PC. I will look into HTML5

  • Unable to install Flash Player on Mac

I am unable to install the latest version of Flash Player on my MacBook Pro. When the installer starts, the download hangs at 25%. Subsequent tries seem to have the download starting (and getting stuck) at 25%. I have tried uninstalling and fixing permissions and restarting; same result. Any advice?

    Hi ivane70189908,
We're aware of the Mac installer quitting unexpectedly and are working on a fix.  In the mean time, please use the offline installer posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Mac page in the 'Still having problems' section.

  • Install Reader 9 in MAC OS won't work

I need help! I have gone through complete installation process for Adobe Reader 9 for Mac OS X 10.4.11 Power PC G5, (not Intel). It was successfully installed, yet when a pdf file needs to be displayed in my browser, it says there is no application to open it. When I go through the apps, select the Adobe Reader 9 app icon, it isn't highlighted, and won't let me select it.  I've gone through this twice now, wasted a lot of time and have no idea what to do next.
Anyone have a solution? Or ???  Thanks for any assistance you can give me!

Find a PDF on your hard drive. Right click it (or just click it) and select "Get Info" (or click File>Get Info  or press CMD+I)
In the Info window under Open With, choose Reader 9 and click OK. THis should set Reader as the default to open PDFs.
In your browser you need to enable the Reader plugin either in the preferences (Safari) or under Add Ons (Firefox) and then the PDF's should open.
If not, your Reader install may be corrupted.
If it is, downlaod a trial of App Delete and install it. Then open it.
Drag the Reader app from your Applications folder to the AppDelete window.
Delete everything in the window, and empty your trash.
    Redownload and reinstall Reader 9.
    Things should work normally.

  • Unable to install Flash Player on Mac mini

Hi Folks!  You all have probably encountered this question before...so here goes.  I own a mid 2010 Mac mini running OS X 10.10 (Yosemite).  Had Adobe Flash player running fine then was prompted to upgrade (text read "Your Flashplayer is outdated")  Attempted the installation but it kept failing with an error: "Unable to proceed with the installation.  Previously when it ran successfully, I first remembered reading and "accepting" the terms and conditions and clicking on the "accept" box...this dialogue was curiously absent overtime the installation was unsucessful.  Any ideas?  Suggestions?  I need HELP!!!
    Thanks,

  • Unable to install Mountain Lion on Mac Pro 4,1

I originally wanted to do a Clean Install on my Mac Pro 4,1 (Early 2009 - Single Quad).
1ST BRICK WALL: After running Install OS X Mountain Lion.app in Lion, it reboots to a Grey Screen/Prohibitory (Circle Cross Line) Screen. Resetting PRAM did not resolve issue.
Ok, how about a USB Thumb Dive Install...
2ND BRICK WALL: After booting off a Mountain Lion Install USB drive, none of my internal hard drives show up in the "Select Destination Drive" (i.e. no drives mounted).
I tried both methods with 2 different hard drives (1 Solid State Crucial M4 and 1 Stock Platter Drive)
Anyone else have similar problems? Any suggestions?
P.S. I have a "Apple Store" ATI Radeon HD 5870 installed.

@Pete_B100, thank you for a different direction. I was able to start an install with the drive in an external USB bay. However, I could not get it to boot ML inside the internal bays. This got me thinking...
SOLUTION: This was an error on my part. I bought my MacPro 4,1 without the WiFi card in it. Around the time I bought it, I had a Mac Mini that I was using for parts. I took the WiFi card (Model No. AR5BXB6) out of the Mac Mini and put it in the Mac Pro. Worked like a champ for SL and Lion. While I was in there yanking out drives, I decided to yank that out. The hint was that the ML USB boot could not see my WiFi card. After I took it out, it was operating like it should. I was able to do a Clean Install of Mountain Lion on my Crucial M4 SSD with no problems.
Thank you all for your help and suggestions!

Thanks for all the replies. Steve has the correct answer. I just do not understand why a program bought directly from Adobe would be shipped when Adobe knows it needs a fix. Why do they not at least note it with the shipment. Not everyone know to check this forum and most people assume a company like Adobe to sell only quality products.
Thanks again to all who took the time to answer.

  • Stuck Installing Reader 11 on Mac

Just installed Adobe Reader 11 on my Mac.  After downloading and installing I am now stuck on "Step 2 or 3" on the "Install Adobe Reader" page.  Please offer some help to get me further.

    Reader Install Steps
    1.  Download the DMG file
    2.  Go to your Downloads folder and double click on the DMG file and the disk image will mount on your system
    3.  Open up the mounted disk image
    4.  Double click on the Reader PKG file
    5.  Follow the Reader installer prompts
    6.  Finish
    7.  Unmount the disk image by selecting it and then eject it or drag it to the trash.
    8. Done.

  • Unable to install reader/view PDF files

    Hi all,
Here's another wierd one... suddenly, I cannot download or view PDF files in Safari. I have attempted to download acrobat reader for a re-install, but neither safari nor firefox will download the complete file. Adobe says the file is 21 megs, but when downloaded (takes 3 seconds!!) file size shows 409 Kb everytime I try it. When I click the .dmg I get a message that says "unable to open file... unsupported file type" or similar statement. Any idea what might be happening here? I'm running 10.4.8 and everything used to work fine, although I hated Acrobat because it took 30 seconds to load!!!
    Thanks for your input.

Correction... downloaded Reader file is actually a folder named "DownloadReader.pkg" and double-clicking on it causes the message "File could not be opened because the specified format is not supported"

  • Unable to install Itunes update on mac

This may sound stupid but I am not at all technology savvy. I tried updating my itunes from whatever it is currently to the latest update and it downloaded but won't install because it said my osx or something was too outdated? I have a MacBook I got on Ebay not too long ago and I believe it's a 2010. I never downloaded anything on it so it just has whatever came on it. It would be greatly appreciated if someone could help me figure out how to update this so I can sync music onto my phone!

First thing to do is click the apple again and click Software Update.  That should let you on-line update to 10.6.8.  Then you need to decide if you want to go to Lion, 10.7.5 or Mavericks, 10.9.1.
You can definitely go to Lion, to go to Mavericks your Mac must be in the compatible list, http://www.apple.com/osx/specs which it probably is.
If so, to go to Mavericks after the 10.6.8 update, click the App Store in Finder, Applications.  Then search for Mavericks, and you can purchase for on-line download for $20.
