Unable to install Reader on OS X 10.7.5
Have gone through download and install process, and the install app seems to run, but then the application just isn't there.
Have looked at security settings in Safari, but I do not have the option to allow Java, only Javascript.
Any ideas appreciated.
Hi sdigrande,
Please try downloading Adobe Reader from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise

Unable to Install Reader 9.1 or Uninstall 9.0
Windows Vista Home Premium
Adobe Reader 9.0 currently installed.
If I try to uninstall 9.0 or install 9.1, the following error occurs:
Error 1402. Could not open key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Class\Interface\(46B89F5A-769D-4792-AD9A-E3755915CB3}\TypeLib
Going into RegEdit to open the key elicits the following:
Error Opening Key
TypeLib cannot be opened.
An error is preventing this key from being opened.
Details: Access is denied.
So I'm stuck. I can't remove or install anything related to Adobe Reader.
Please help ... any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!I deleted the Adobe Reader entry in Windows Install Clean Up utility, restarted, then tried to install Reader 9.1. Same registery error as before.

Unable to install reader/view PDF files
Hi all,
Here's another wierd one... suddenly, I cannot download or view PDF files in Safari. I have attempted to download acrobat reader for a re-install, but neither safari nor firefox will download the complete file. Adobe says the file is 21 megs, but when downloaded (takes 3 seconds!!) file size shows 409 Kb everytime I try it. When I click the .dmg I get a message that says "unable to open file... unsupported file type" or similar statement. Any idea what might be happening here? I'm running 10.4.8 and everything used to work fine, although I hated Acrobat because it took 30 seconds to load!!!

Correction... downloaded Reader file is actually a folder named "DownloadReader.pkg" and double-clicking on it causes the message "File could not be opened because the specified format is not supported"

Error 1935 - unable to install Reader 8.1.2 on Vista SP1
I know that others have posted on this issue, but neither of the suggested fixes have worked for me. The 'fsutil' command prompt had no effect, and Ghaurav's suggestion of defeating the uninstall by copying all the files from the directory and replacing them resulted in an 'invalid plugin' error every time I tried to start Reader.
Is anyone from Adobe monitoring this forum? Any others out there having this problem, or have a fix?OK, the final chapter. Microsoft tech support had me run a system file checker utility. The command line is 'sfc /scannow'. The utility reported that I had corrupt system files, but I still have no idea how that happened. I was unable to roll back the installation of Vista SP1, so I ended up reinstalling Vista (and every other program I have) from scratch. It took a full day of installing, upgrading restoring my backed up files, but I ended up with a clean version of Vista SP1, and the adobe problem is gone.
Does this story have a happy ending? No. I decided to run SFC on my laptops. I have corrupt system files on my office laptop, and it's interfering with installing XP SP3. No other symptoms, so I'll ignore XP SP3 for as long as I can. -
I'm able to download the Reader X dmg file just fine. All goes well right up until the end of the installation process, when I get the following (see screenshot).
Further, a correct-looking app icon then appears in my Applications folder, but when I try to launch it, it crashes immediately. The following appears in the console:
12/14/11 12:35:26 AM
com.apple.launchd.peruser.502[137]
([0x0-0x49049].com.adobe.Reader[706]) posix_spawn("/Applications/Adobe Reader.app/Contents/MacOS/AdobeReader", ...): Permission denied
