Unable to install software/Admin or higher permissions required for install
Suddenly, I am unable to install software—I get a dialogue box that tells me I must have Administrator or higher permissions to do the install. I am attempting to do this from the Administrator account, and I even created a new one to see if that would work, all to no avail. Any tips, ideas, suggestions to resolve this problem? I would really like to install Leopard. Thanks!

Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Tiger Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)

Permissions required for an user to create a View in Oracle 10.2.0.1.0
Hi,
I am facing one serious issue with Oacle 10.2.0.1.0.
I have an user (Atlas) created with below permissions.
grant connect to atlas;
grant resource to atlas;
grant create public synonym to atlas;
grant select any dictionary to atlas;
grant query rewrite to atlas;
I will create my database schema on this user Atlas. All my scripts are executing properly with Oracle 9i and 10g version 10.1.0.2.0. But when it comes to Oracle 10g version 10.2.0.1.0 the views creation is throwing an error saying that Insufficient Priviliges.
I didn't get why this error is coming.
What previliges does an user should require for creating a view in Oracle 10.2.0.1.0 version?
I have installed Enterprise version of Oracle 10.2.0.1.0. Please suggest me with this.

RaoCREATE VIEW was taken away from connect or resouce in 10.2.x. It has to be explicity granted... Not sure what this has to do with XML per-se :)

Which permissions required for using CAF External Service Configuration?

I have written an application service which invokes an external RFC. To this end, I have imported the desired RFC as external service and wrapped it as an application service.
However, when invoking this application service I get an error message that the external service has not been configured. I have learned that I have to use CAF's External Service Configuration tool.
Unfortunately, this tool complaints that I don't have the required administrator permissions. This happens even when I log in with the administrator account.
What do I do wrong?

What are the permissions (Share and NTFS) needed for sources folder which stores all the source files for applications, packages , OSD et for Single Primary Site with remote SQL server and a distribution point.
Share Permissions
NTFS PermissionsThe most important thing to keep in mind is that the administrators and ConfigMgr need read and write access to the most of those folders. I usually have Everyone Full Control on share permissions and use NTFS permissions to make it more granular (if needed).
Most important, keep it simple.

Why the new Android permissions requirements for AIR 4.0.0.139?
When starting to update my AIR app to 4.0.0.139 on my Android devices through the Google Play store I found a number of new permission requirements.
They are:
New: Approximate location
New: Receive data from Internet
New: Prevent tablet from sleeping
New: Find accounts on the device
So does this mean that flash apps not using a captive runtime will no longer have to directly request these permissions from the user because the AIR libraries have already acquired them? This could be misleading to the user who installs an AIR app that will have far greater permissions that what they thought they were approving.
My big question is why are these permission needed? As a developer I submit the Android permissions I need for my app into the application descriptor file. So why does AIR itself need all these extra permissions?
As a consumer i've started finding too many apps that want access to run at startup, know my location, or contacts, or accounts, with no apparent reason for it. I've been uninstalling such apps or refusing to update them further. Does Adobe worry that other consumers may follow suit? Does the AIR libraries really need these permissions? Why?
Thanks in advance.This is typical of Adobe and how they have always been. They do whatever they want with absolutely no respect or consideration for the user. Not only did they add several new permissions, but they don't have any way to contact them about Air. The email listed on the Google Play page isn't valid, there's no contact info listed on the website, and if you try to submit a question to them Air isn't even an available option. It just goes to show how little they care about the users of their products. And then when someone like yourself goes to the trouble of asking them about it the only way possible, they ignore the question. Which says they don't care, they're hiding something, or both. In any case, I've always hated Adobe and steered clear of their products as much as possible because of this behavior, and I will continue to do so. I won't be letting this app have all these permissions without so much as an explanation why, so I'll be uninstalling it and just won't use any apps that require it, which to my understanding is mostly games, so I'll live. I just hope their disdainful attitude toward their users catches up to them and they crash and burn. We're on the right track with HTML5 moving away from Flash.

Hi Kappy, this isnt the case, it accepts the password, I hit install and then the same screen pops up instead of proceeding to install the software. I even went in to check, change password and no joy

Unable to install a software driver for Canon film scanner on mac OSX 10.6
I am unable to install a software driver for a Canon film scanner FS4000US. I have downloaded it from Canon then open the package click the install and it asks for a location namely the Applications folder. Then it says it has been installed re -start etc, but still no driver.
I am using Mac OS 10.6. Any suggestions greatly received. I have repaired/disk and permissions and it still does not work.Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

Select "/var/log/install.log" from the file list. Post the messages from the last installation attempt, starting from the time when you launched the Installer or Software Update.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting. -
My macbook wont except my administrator name even after I reset my admin pasword and keychain login password so I am unable to install or make any account changes. I can't even install any software. Suggestions anyone? I've been at this for hours now....

Yes, gladly. I am trying to install on a 13" MacBook Pro with OS X 10.8.3. I insert the disk into the SuperDrive. The I work '09 window pops up with two icons: one Tim install and one that says "Read before you install iWork." I double-click on the "Install iWork '09" icon, and a window appears that says, "This package will run a program to determine if the software can be installed." I click "continue" and see "Welcome to the iWork '09 installer." I click on "Continue." The "read me" bullet on the left lights up, and I see "Read before you install. . . ." I click "Continue," then see the software license agreement. When I click on "Continue" again, I am asked to agree, and I do. The window then says, "Standard Install on 'Mackintosh HD" and indicates how much space the program will take.
I click "Install," enter my password, and the installation begins. It goes through a validating phase and begins "writing files." It indicates that installation will take about 30 minutes (although that number fluctuates). After about four minutes it goes to "cleaning up." Then after just a few seconds, the "Summary" bullet on the left lights up and this message appears: "There were errors with the installation. You may want to try installing again." There is a large yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it, and a bold "The installation failed." Below that appears "The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."
At that point, a "Close" button is pulsating blue at the bottom of the window.
