Unable to install the security patches KB2677070 in Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 (The update is not applicable to your computer)
Dear everyone,
We are trying to install the below KB in our windows server 2008 R2 SP1, however, it will show "The update is not applicable to your computer". There is no problems to install the other patches except this one. Do anyone have idea about it?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2677070
Thanks,

Hi,
According to this KB article, there are many exceptions where this KB is not applicable.
Please perform the following steps:
Expand the “For all supported…” title in the File Information section in the KB article.
Find Crypt32.dll.mui files on your machine.
Then compare the file version, file size, data and time with the ones listed in the KB article.
If there is a match, then this KB doesn’t apply to your machine, which is by design.
Hope this helps.
Best Regards,
Amy Wang

Hotfix KB2277439 Says "The update is not applicable to your computer" when trying to install.
We have two Dell Poweredge 710 servers both running Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise x64 using Failover Clustering. These servers host a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 database. They are being back up by a EMC Networker.
Recently, we had the active node hang overnight around the same time that the backups run. After further digging into what could have caused the problem, I found some usefull information on our issue in KB2277439 The symptoms described match our situation

The package I downloaded extracted a file named Windows6.1-KB2277439-x64.msu However when I tried installing the hotfix I get an error saying: "The update is not applicable to your computer"
Can someone please explain why this update is not applicable? As far as the KB article says, it's specifically meant for Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise x64 with Failover Clustering installed, which is exactly the setup that these servers are running.
Also I have verified that this hotfix had not been previously applied and I'm pretty sure we couldn't have gotten this as an automatic update. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.Hotfixes are special, out-of-band patches created to fix specific problems, so they are never published to Windows Update. Often the hotfix gets incorporated into a released patch that is published on Windows Update. If this hotfix was incorporated
into a released patch, and you applied that patch to your system, the hotfix would see that its files are older than the latest files on the system and would give you this message. Because the hotfix is not for general distribution, there is rarely documentation
saying that it has been superceded.
Generally there is a file list with a hotfix/patch that gives you the version number of the affected files. You can go through those files to see that you have the latest files. The problem is finding the actual patch that updated those files.
Without going through lots of patches, it is hard to find which patch made the hotfix obsolete.

RSAT Tools won't install (the update is not applicable to your computer) in build 9926
Trying to install Remote Server Administration Tools in Windows 10 Technical Preview build 9926
Downloaded WindowsTH-KB2693643-x64.msu
Gives error "the update is not applicable to your computer"Hi SeanSauve,
The below is the information I quoted from the system requirements part on the download page:
Supported Operating System
Windows 10 , Windows 10 Tech Preview , Windows 8.1
**Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 10 Technical Preview can be installed ONLY on computers that are running the second release of Windows 10 Technical Preview.** Remote Server Administration Tools cannot be installed on Windows
RT, computers with an Advanced RISC Machine (ARM) architecture, or other system-on-chip devices.
Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 10 Technical Preview runs on both x86- and x64-based editions of builds 9926 and later releases of Windows 10 Technical Preview, including all updates. This release does not run on Windows 10 Technical
Preview builds that are older than 9926. Download and install the version that matches the architecture of the computer on which you plan to install the administration tools. If you are not sure whether your computer is x86- or x64-based, see
How to determine whether a computer is running a 32-bit version or 64-bit version of the Windows operating system.
Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 10 Technical Preview is available only in United States English (en-US) for this release.
IMPORTANT: Remove all older versions of Administration Tools Pack or Remote Server Administration Tools—including older prerelease versions, and releases of the tools for different languages or locales—from the computer before you install Remote
Server Administration Tools for Windows 10 Technical Preview. Only one copy at a time of Remote Server Administration Tools can be installed on a computer. If you have upgraded to Windows 10 Technical Preview from an older release of Windows, you will need
to install Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 10 Technical Preview on the computer; no earlier releases of Remote Server Administration Tools are still installed on a computer that you have upgraded to Windows 10 Technical Preview.
Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 10 Technical Preview includes support for remote management of computers that are running the Server Core installation option or the Minimal Server Graphical Interface configuration of Windows Server Technical
Preview. However, Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 10 Technical Preview cannot be installed on any releases or installation options of the Windows Server operating system.
Earlier releases of Remote Server Administration Tools (such as those for Windows 8.1) are not available--nor do they run--on Windows 10 Technical Preview.
Server Manager is included with Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 10 Technical Preview; GUI-based tools that are part of this release of Remote Server Administration Tools can be opened by using commands on the Tools menu of the Server Manager
console. To use Server Manager to access and manage remote servers that are running Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, or Windows Server 2012 R2, you must install several updates on the older operating systems. For more information
about requirements for using Server Manager to manage remote servers, see
Manage multiple, remote servers with Server Manager.
More information, see:
Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 10 Technical Preview (January 2015)
Please check and see if your current build is Windows 10 build 9926, and the system language, RSAT should not be able to install on the other language versions of Windows 10 other than EN-US.

Windows Server 2008 R2: "The update is not applicable to your computer"
ALCON,
I'm trying to install a "Windows Update Standalone Installer" file (Windows6.1-KB3032323-x64.msu) along with other .msu files and I keep getting the same message: "The update is not applicable to your computer". The server is a
virtual machine and is also the vCenter server for the system, so I REALLY don't want to mess this installation up and break the system but the installation is needed and mandatory. How can I go about installing these .msu files.
*Note* The system is located in a classified environment so it doesn't have a connection to the outside (unclassified) world. But I'm able to have the .msu files placed on the system at any time.
Thanks!
V/r,
Stanley L. Johnson Jr.Hello,
do you use SP1 for Windows Server 2008 R2?

Windows Virtual PC KB958559 never installs. It says "This update is not applicable to your computer." Here are my details...
Dell Inspiron M6400, Intel Core2 Duo T9550, Hardware Virtualization is present and has been enabled in bios which was updated recently
Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit, build 7600.16539.x86fre.win7_gdr.100226-1909
Any ideas? I have seen the other posts but nothing seemed to be a solution. Another strange behavior that may (or may not) be related is that when I try to load the "Turn Windows features on or off" the box loads blank.Firstly, please read the following article on how to resolve the blank dialog box of “Windows Features”:
The "Windows Features" dialog box is empty in Windows 7 or Windows Vista, or you receive an error message that includes
the following code when you try to use Windows Update: "0x80073712"
Then,
empty the Temporary Internet files and %Temp% folder.
At last, download
Windows Virtual PC again and install it.

I am trying to install the proper version (Windows8.1-kb3011780-x64.msu) and we are running an updated set of files (dated 22 mar 2014)
the only option left is to demote this DC. any help will be appreciated
We installed the following cumulative update KB 2919355 and then we installed the update MS14-068 (CVE-2014-6324), it was installed successfully.
Please find below the file versions after installing the KB 2919355 and MS14-068 (KB 3011780).

Windows6.1-KB958559-x64 the update is not applicable to your computer
I have yet to find a good answer on this one. Running a Q6600 with a 680i mobo VT enabled in the bios, 8GB ram. Win 7 RC fresh install. Loaded drivers rebooted and ran the XP mode install first, then ran the VPC file Windows6.1-KB958559-x64 only to get the message, "The update is not applicable to your computer." This should work on this machine. I've unpluged everything but the HD and video card to install this. Also would like to say it installed fine on my laptop which has the Intel T7500 processor. Any help or links to other forums you guys could post here on the topic would be greatly appreciated. I need to run some old data recovery software that just won't load on 7 and XP Mode allows you to access all drives on the system. Thanks!
I am looking at the MSU package and going to give it the trick people were using to upgrade from Windows 7 Beta to RC. Where you look into the files to change the version. There is an XML file in the MSU that checks the version of the system you are installing on. The current code looks like this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<unattend xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:unattend">
<servicing>
<package action="install">
<assemblyIdentity buildType="release" language="neutral" name="Microsoft-Windows-VirtualPC-Package-TopLevel" processorArchitecture="amd64" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" version="7.1.7600.16393"/>
<source location="%configsetroot%\Windows6.1-KB958559-x64.CAB" />
</package>
</servicing>
</unattend>
and may need to be changed to this
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<unattend xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:unattend">
<servicing>
<package action="install">
<assemblyIdentity buildType="release" language="neutral" name="Microsoft-Windows-VirtualPC-Package-TopLevel" processorArchitecture="amd64" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" version="7.1"/>
<source location="%configsetroot%\Windows6.1-KB958559-x64.CAB" />
</package>
</servicing>
</unattend>
Either it has to be version 7.1 or 7100
Hope it works. -

How to install bo xi 3.1 on windows server 2008 r2 sp1 (virtual machine )
HI GUYS --
operating system: I am trying to install Business Objects into a virtual computer which has a windows server 2008 R2 SP1 operating system. I installed version BO XI 3.1 and I also installed Service pack 3 and Service pack 4. I installed liveoffice usual way. Whenever I try to design xcelsius and dashboard, I got some errors. In order to fix these errors, I followed SAP notes step by step. However, It didnt help me at all. I also tried to install by looking at install guide and supported platform documents, but I get an error each time of doing that. I can write each error over here. I also opened a link over here. Check out the link please to see the errors how to display webi docs. in liveoffice?
My main question is this.
Are there anybody who works operating system windows server 2008 R2 SP1 and this installed into the virtual machine? If so, Is it worked by doing which installations exactly?
Note; Business Objects tools work very well (infoview, cmc, web intelligencei and the others work without problems at QAAWS BO XI 3.1, but they have been given cluster error at BO XI 3.1 SP3) . In addition, port server settings have been installed based on the installion guide. If you give me any information other than whatever I said, I appreciate that. I also point out something. If I dont get any message which I attached a sample when I try to operate life office. In this situation I cant see either my documets or web documents in infoview)

Denis is right this is actually documented in the Supported Platforms Documentation:
"Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 are new platform support additions in Service Pack 3 which are only available for support on the SP3 full release install of SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise. The SP3 patch only release of SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise does not provide support for these two new platforms."

I put the hotfix on our ADFS Server (2012 R2) and tried to install it and received this:
I made sure all the prerequisites were installed - they are.
Any ideas?I did some digging and the version of Microsoft.IdentityServer.Service.dll is version 6.3.9600.17720
This is higher than what is in this hot fix and I guess is related to this update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3045711
In ADFS when I try an change the password for a non-workplace join computer I get a complexity error but I know for sure the password meets the domain complexity requirements.

Probably means that one update's criteria is not the same as another's. Look at the log files to determine exactly what they are. E.g. probably an out-of-date module that the first update thinks it knows how to fix by using its suggestion but which
really needs to be fixed some other way. So, if you fixed whatever it is properly you wouldn't get the bogus suggestion. Etc.
