Unable to install updates via App Store or Installer.app
Ever since updating my 2008 Mac Pro from Mountain Lion (+Server.app) to Mavericks (10.9.3+Server.app) about a month ago, I have been unable to install updates on that system in any way, shape, or form. Fixing permissions did not fix the problem, and reinstalling Mavericks also did not fix the problem.
When trying to check for updates in the App Store, I run into this error:
I have researched this problem extensively, and found no solution or workaround. I also could find little in the way of relevant log entries for the problem.
So, now I'm trying to install 10.9.4 manually, from a downloaded .dmg. As you can see from the screenshot below, I started the installation of 10.9.4 over five and a half hours ago. One message happened almost an hour after kicking off installation, but still nothing has happened. The logs are included inline here for your convenience.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily. Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app

• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

I use iphone5, I see an app update on the app store. but when App store and click on the update tab, it doesn't show me which application to update.. just gives me a blank page.!!!! You can probably change the ID in the "iTunes and App stores" settings on the iPad....click on the wrong account ID , select sign out, then log in with your own ID, I have not done this but I think it works.....

If you did the update through iTunes, try going into the Settings App on your iPhone and doing the Software Update in there. The same thing happened to me, and the wireless update worked.

A while ago it downloaded update ios 71.1. When on the phone I select Settings->General->SoftwareUpdate- Install Now, it informs me: "verifying update", then "Unable to install update", "An error occurred while installing IOS 71.1.".
a) I tried to update via itunes, but it refuses to do so - first it says that I need to back up the phone, but the Itunes backup fails - "An error occurred while backing up... (no error number etc)".
b) When I try to do icloud backup from the Settings->iCloud->Storage & Backup -> Backup Now, the iPhone says "Backing up now [ and then after a while ] The last back up could not be completed"
I thought this may be some application causing it, so I shut off the phone and turned it on. Same symptopms. I also uninstalled a few recently added applications, and tried again to no avail.
I can of course reset the phone, but who knows what useful stuff on it I am going to lose (my phone remembers a lot more than I do), and it looks like I cannot back it up beforehand...
Any thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated.Did you run iTunes 11.1 from update software or direct download? Any specific error code?

Any Suggestions?If you can't find it on any of your homescreens or app folders, and you can't find it via the spotlight search screen (swipe your first home screen to the right), then is it hidden by and app age rating in Settings > General > Restrictions ?
If not then have you tried a reset to see if you can find it after the iPad has restarted ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. -
