Unable to install volume controls / battery status software on A22m

I have a rather old ThinkPad - a A22m 2628-TSU - that I just recently reformated and installed with Windows XP.
I'm now trying to install the software that'll let you adjust the volume with the volume buttons and that'll show the batteries status and am having some difficulty doing so.  I would have thought that Keyboard Customizer Utility for Windows 2000, XP - ThinkPad and ThinkPad Power Management driver for Windows Vista, XP, 2000, Me, 98 SE - ThinkPad would have done the trick, but alas, it appears that they do not.  I ran the *.exe that I downloaded, which created a C:\DRIVERS directory, and I then ran the setup files within each of the newely created directories, but that didn't help.  So what will help?
Also, unrelated to this...  whenever I try to visit lenovo.com, in Firefox, on that computer, the computer freezes.  It doesn't do this in Internet Explorer and lenovo.com is the only page I've found that causes this problem in Firefox (well, the whole computer freezes, but it only happens while I'm using Firefox).  I know this is a short in the dark, but...  any ideas?

You need to install the Hot Key driver from the system utilities file matrix. (You may also need the on screen display utility also?)
re. the firefox, sorry I don't use it.

  • Equium A60-191: What application controls battery status in system tray?

I have had to re-install XP. This caused the loss of the drivers and quite probably other stuff I don't know about.
One of the items missing seems to be the software or driver? for the battery. The battery no longer charges up to full power. The software that set in the system tray used to indicate the power status and whether it was ac or dc connected.
Any suggestions what I need and where I can get it from to fix this problem, please?

    Hi
In my knowledge you dont need any drivers or software to charge the battery to full power. Only what you need is the Toshiba Power saver utility.
This utility is very useful because you can configure the different power modes for a different notebook usage. For example if you have disconnect the AC adaptor from the notebook the Power saver will automatically switch to the power mode which was configured for the battery usage.
Such modes help to take care of battery and increases the battery life time and it shows a battery status in the task bar
But it has nothing to do witch the battery charging.
In my user manual I have found many info about the battery and how to handle the battery usage. I think the same information you will find in your user manual. Check it.
The last possibility could be a battery malfunction.
But in such case only a battery replacement will solve your issue.
If you want you can try to check if the same happens with the new battery.

  • Unable to use volume control ipod itouch 5.1.1

    hello,
itouch didn't have a problem with volume slider until recently. through other websites, i have since located the volume slider in music playing mode by double tapping the home button and scrolling to the left but it lacks any button to scroll to increase the volume. music plays well via a sound dock but that has it's own volume controls. sometimes when docking it plays through the handset speakers until seated correctly so i know the internal speakers do work.
any light on the matter would be very much appreciated!!!

I just got off the phone with a friend of mine who was having the same problem as you. Although you say the camera playback is set properly, please recheck this. go into your camera's playback menu>menu>standard set>VCR HDV/DV. Unplug your firewire from the camera. Make sure camera is set to HDV NOT auto. replace firewire cable. Now open FCP. Go in Audio/video settings>A/V devices (farthest tab on right). In box for playback edit to tape different from video output (make sure it's checked) mirrored (checked) Video playback 1080i50, Audio HDV. I hope that works now.

  • Unable to install new version of Nokia Software Up...

I opened NUS today and was told there is a new version available. I accepted downloading it, however the installer at one point gave the message "Error 1714. The older version of Nokia Software Updater cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group.".
What I tried to get around the problem (with no results):
    - I followed this procedure; after I ran the MSI file, I ended up with a very similar error message about an older version not being able to be uninstalled
    - used Nokia PC Suite Cleaner, and manually deleted the files that were unable to be deleted by the program
    - cleared the temp folders
    - restarted my computer
Can anyone suggest what else I can try to make the NSU installer work?

If you have installed Microsoft Installer v4.5 (WindowsXP-KB942288-v3-x86.exe) then uninstall it. Use good uninstaller to uninstall that HotFix because Windows inbuilt Add/Remove programs does not show this HotFix as installed program. Try this and tell me the result.

  • Volume Control - hardware or software issue?

    Hi guys,
I have a 64GB Wi-Fi iPad. 99% of the time it works just fine.
On occasion it suddenly starts increasing the volume on it's own.
This has happened both while running applications (that use sound and those that don't)
and when it is simply on the home screen.
The volume up down button is not in contact with anything like a case, so that is not making
    it happen.
The icon indicating the volume comes up on the screen and won't go away until I push the volume
down button. This is as if it were being continuously increased.
    Is anyone else experiencing this?
Also, will there be an iOS update for iPad similar to that released for the phones? is it possible this issue will be addressed in said update?
    Thanks a bundle.
    M

Having taken the iPad to the Mac store, they told me it was faulty and replaced it.

  • Unable to Install Universal Wireless Keyboard with the CD that came with the Palm Tungsten E2 on my Windows Vista OS. Can some help? Would Appreciate it very much.

I recently bought a Palm Tungsten E2. I have been unable to install the Universal Wireless Keyboard software that came with the E2. Went online and downloaded the version 1.13 UWK and that would not install either. What did I do wrong?
    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

For Vista that version will not let you install programs. Good news though is we have a version you can. Go here, http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/windesk62.html and install this on top of the version you already have. There is going to be a few changes on the desktop, there is no quick install, but the install tool.
Once you have that done just double click on keyboard and it will ask you your hotsync name and sync and your done.
Oh as a side note the check if this is your solution is only if the answer solves your original question.

  • HELP! My volume control just stopped functioning!

Has my sound card gone? I can't get ay sound out of my Mac anymore, it's permanently on mute and I can't adjust it at all. Anyone know what is wrong?

    STU9000 wrote:
How can that affect my computer volume control? I don't get it.
Besides, it is a brand new Belkin gold plated connector so I doubt that is the reason.
Remember that it's not a physical volume control, but a software control so that a "glitch" can possibly affect it.
I did say that the new gold connectors are not problematic, but if the connector is "half-way" between being inserted and not, it could create that "glitch" that confuses the software.
I notice that when I plug and unplug my external speaker connector and look at the output in the Sound window, it takes a short time before the change is recognized and it switches from internal to external or vice-versa. I think the sensor itself is mechanical and that might have been your problem.
Always remember that with computers almost anything is possible.

  • Another volume control problem after installing new software

I'm having a different volume control problem than the previous poster.
When I turn my ipod touch on, the volume control stays on the screen. I can't do anything to get rid of it. When I go into settings/sounds, the control goes away on the screen, but it will not let me turn the volume up. When I try to listen to music through my headphones, I can turn the volume up but then it automatically turns itself down. The same thing happens when I try to turn the volume up from the side control. It worked fine this morning before I installed the new software and now it's acting buggy. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Friend should do an update again your team blackberry.

  • Audigy2 ZS installed now getting Windows Volume Control error po

Installed the Audigy 2ZS with little problems, I had the Audigy HD integrated MB sound on my computer previously.
Disabled the onboard audio in BIOS, will not let me remove all of the Soundblaster Audigy Advanced MB program. I believe this program is just software that gives it some pseudo Audigy characteristics.
When I try to remove it I get a SETUP.EXE error and informs me it must close the program.
The error message i get on startup is VOLUME CONTROL unable to load the interface. Please reinstall the application.
Any suggestions or tips I would appreciate it.

    Icehouse,
You might want to uninstall the A2ZS first. That way there won't be any uncertainty about what Creative entries belong to your onboard sound. Most importantly, you need to back up your registry before making changes and be able to restore it if needed. You can get info on that here. There are also registry cleaner utilities you might want to consider. I haven't used these, but here's a comparison of several.
Another option is to uninstall the A2ZS, remove the card, enable the onboard audio, and try to uninstall it again. If this succeeds, then reinstall the A2ZS. You might want to run drivercleaner after each uninstall.
If you aren't comfortable making changes to the registry, then I'd advise against that. If it comes to that, is there some place you could take your PC for expert help? You might also contact Dell for instructions for disabling the integrated audio.Message Edited by Katman on 02-0-2006 08:9 PM

  • Unable to install software/Admin or higher permissions required for install

Suddenly, I am unable to install software—I get a dialogue box that tells me I must have Administrator or higher permissions to do the install. I am attempting to do this from the Administrator account, and I even created a new one to see if that would work, all to no avail. Any tips, ideas, suggestions to resolve this problem? I would really like to install Leopard. Thanks!

Hi flow_pilot, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Tiger Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
