Unable to install Xcode 3.2.6 on Snow Leopard 10.6.8

I am trying to install the Xcode 3.2.6 on my Mac OS X 10.6.8.
But I am getting stuck at the following:
It says that there has been an unidentified installation error. Please contact Apple.
Anybody knows what I am doing wrong?

Thx for the reply brody.
Indeed, I got the xcode_3.2.6_and_ios_sdk_4.3.dmg file from the apple site:
Really have no idea what the problem could be.

  • Unable to install aperture 3.1 dvd on snow leopard or lion

I have an aperture 3.1 install DVD.  I tried to install it on my macbook running lion 10.7.3 and it says:
I then tried to install it on my mac mini running snow leopard 10.6.8... same result.
Then I tried to install on my macbook (dual booted with the lion) running 10.5.8, clean install it worked just fine.  Installed and asked me to get the updates.
My question is: how do i get this isntalled on my macbook running lion 10.7.3?
I have tried to repair permissions, I tried making sure I had all the latest updates through software updater. I have tried restarting.
The only thing I haven't tried is format and reinstall fresh, but that is my last resort.

Is there any diagnostic message (error log) in the Console window, when you run the Aperture 3.1 installer on your Lion system? If you see any crash report, post the first 50 lines of the crash report.
Your boxed version is licenced to run on a macbook and a desktop computer. Since the Trial Version is no longer available for download try to download the full version from the App Store:
on the system where you have an Aperture Installation register your Aperture version with Apple, if you not already have done so,
Sign into the App Store with your apple ID you use for purchases; the App Store now should register your installed applications
And if you now log into the App Store with your same ID you should be able to see a download link to download Aperture without having to buy it.
see this thread: Here this approach seems to have worked
This solved my question Re: Ap 3 on two computers?
What I am not sure about, is if you will be able to log into the App Store from a Leopard System.
If you cannot do that, then try to get the latest Aperture update using your Leopard System:
Then I tried to install on my macbook (dual booted with the lion) running 10.5.8, clean install it worked just fine.  Installed and asked me to get the updates.
Try to download the updates and make a copy of the installers, before they are deleted again. Then try to run these installer on your other system.

Unable to update to OS X Maverick from Snow Leopard 10.6.8. I have 648GB available on my MAC HD but when I go to install I get error that I need 2 GB free and 8 GB available. Does the AppStore install some where other than the MAC Hard Drive on my imac?

The reference is to RAM. You need at least 2 GBs of memory installed.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
One thing is the memory, and another thing is the hard disk space. You are telling me that you have 200 GB of free space on the hard disk, but the App Store is telling you that you have to install 2 GB of memory or more on your Mac if you want to upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.
First of all, open  > About this Mac > More Info, and copy "Model Identifier" here, so we can know what Mac you have got and how much memory you can install.
We recommend to buy the memory in OWC or Crucial (Crucial is cheaper and offers the same compatibility warranty as OWC) because you won't probably have any problem with the memory you buy there

After I installed 10.6.8, my HP Officejet 7310 lost the ability to print 2-sided.  I installed the latest HP drivers for Snow Leopard, the 2-sided option shows up in the print window but is turned off and greyed out.  Also the scan function won't let me scan at any density greater than 150 dpi.  I have talked to Applecare and to HP tech support and been told "too bad."  Any help would be appreciated.

THANK YOU!  And who are you?  I spent a couple of hours on the phone with Applecare and with HP Tech Support and they couldn't fix what you did in a few words.  Many thanks!  John

  • Reinstalling OS X on a mid 07 iMac, do i go back to original install disk or should i use Snow Leopard disk?

I have an mid 07 iMac, running on Mountain lion OS. It has been not working smoothly, constant freezing. I'm guessing its dying, however when I run a hardware test on DU is passes with no errors. I would like to wipe it clean and re-install my most recent OS, and my backed up harddrive. I have everything backed up on an external hd. I tried to do the recovery with Command R and it wouldn't do it. I think its something with my internet connection??  I tried to reinstall with the last OS install disk I have which is Snow Leopard. It wouldn't let me do that either. Do I have to go back to original install disk that came with it and start from scratch? I want to make sure I cover all bases before I invest another grand into one of these lovely machines:) any advice would be appreciated.

    Good morning.
Just to repeat.  Back up before doing anything; preferably to an external (portable) HD.
Luckily you seem to have the original dvd.  Boot from that; you should then be able to select erase and install. That will erase everything on your HD and load the OS.  It should bring you to 10.6.3.  Once that is done you can then  software update to 10.6.8.  The Combo update is an option you can use instead of going through each process one at a time.  For that you should download and apply ...

  • Error installing Windows 7 on Macbook running snow leopard

I've been trying to install Windows 7 on Macbook running snow leopard.  During the windows install, it goes through expanding the files and then fails with errors saying the installation files are corrupted.  I've gone back to boot camp assistant, and removed the partition, and then re-partitioned and still see the same issue. Has anyone seen this problem?

Read the Boot Camp Instructions located here: http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/. You must use the same drive that contains OSX to install Windows using Boot Camp Assistant.

  • Install Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard from USB Drive

My MacBook Pro (Late 2006 15.4-inch 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) has a SuperDrive that does not work.
I wish to re-install Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, as this is the latest DVD I possess, to wipe the HDD prior to selling.  It has Lion installed but this was done via the Mac App store and I don't want to sell with any links to my account or as an authorised computer.
How do I boot the MacBook Pro from a USB stick, wipe the HDD and install Snow Leopard?

You will still need a Mac and a optical drive, a external one will do. To read the disk to put it on a USB, external opticals are not bootable.

My MacBook Pro, 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo gives me an error message during Lion install. My Intel Duo Core is not an Intel Duo Core and cannot install Lion.  I already have Snow Leopard what is the problem with Lion?

You need a "Core 2 Duo" for lion, and I'm guessing you only have a "Core Duo"  My wife's macbook is also a "Core Duo" and has Snow Leapord, but cannot install Lion.....

  • Will Lion install correctly handle multiple accounts from Snow Leopard?

Will Lion install correctly handle multiple accounts from Snow Leopard? Will current settings, DOCS etc be carried over?

I found the solution to my problem after I upgraded and it lies with the X509 Anchors.
SOLUTION:  Go to /Library/Preferences/com.apple.security-common.plist (it may be a hidden file) and change it to /Library/Preferences/com.apple.security-common.plist.bak.  This should remove the system calling to old outdated anchors and allow it to use the new security protocols under Lion's sandboxing feature.
It worked for me and mail runs fine.

  • Unable to install Xcode 4.3.2 with Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (on my Mac mini)

I tried to install Xcode 4.3.2 from application store, after clicking the Install button, a message displayed as "Installing". (but no progress bar appeared)
After about 30 minutes, (while installation was on progress), my Mac mini crashed and I had to turn off the power and restart it again.
Now, if I try to install the Xcode again, nothing happens after I click the install button except the Apple store login dialog pops in and ask to login.
(No folder named "Developer" has been created in my Application folder yet)

Developer folder was not created anywhere, I had checked.
But, latter I found an icon named "paused" in the 2nd page of my Launchpad. When clicking installating simply started and completed without any problems.

  • Unable to change to GUID partition scheme so Snow Leopard can be installed

Upgrading from OS 10.5.8 to Snow Leopard 10.6.3 on Macbook 4.1 with Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM. Instructions state "Macintosh HD" can't be used because it does not use the GUID partition Table Scheme. Use Disk Utility to change the partition scheme. Select the disk, use the Partition Tab, select the Volume Scheme, and then select Options.
Problem: The Options button is grayed out. The Partition Map Scheme is Apple Partition Map.
Note: Macbook purchased in 2008, but the hard drive was replaced in April 2011. Hard drive Information:
    Name :
    TOSHIBA MK1655GSXF Media
    Type :
    Disk
    Partition Map Scheme :
    Apple Partition Map
    Disk Identifier :
    disk0
    Media Name :
    TOSHIBA MK1655GSXF Media
    Media Type :
    Generic
    Connection Bus :
    Serial ATA 2
How do I change the partition scheme to GUID?

This requires that you repartition the entire drive as follows:
    Drive Preparation
    1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. At this point you can quit DU and return to the installer and install Snow Leopard.
If you have data you wish to save then you need to backup before doing the above.
