Unable to install Yahoo messenger 10

Hi Everyone,
I recently purchased a NB305-N410WH mini netbook with Windows 7 Starter and tried to install Yahoo Messenger 10. It almost finished the downloading process, then came up with an error, there is something wrong with an application (MS-DOS). Yahoo says this version is compatible with Win7. I successfully installed it on other Toshiba laptop with Win XP. Is there something wrong with this Win 7 (32bit)?
Any suggestion is very much appreciated.

Prompted to install Yahoo Messenger upon restart even though already installed

I have Yahoo Messenger (3.0.1 beta) installed on my MacBook Air (Lion OS X 10.7.2). It is working fine, however every time I restart my computer and access the Flash Drive (Go - Computer) or the Applications Folder (Go - Applications) I'm prompted to install Yahoo again. I get a Yahoo Messenger installation dialog box asking me to install it. The only way to get rid of this dialog box is to accept the Yahoo agreement and go to the next step for installation - dragging the Yahoo icon into the applications folder. At this stage I can either drag the icon and replace the current one, or just close the drag dialog window. Either way my Yahoo Messenger works fine. If I click the "decline" button the installation dialog box just reappears until I click the "accept" button.
I like to have Yahoo Messenger installed because it allows me to chat with 2 different Yahoo ID's simultaneously - one in iChat and one in Yahoo Messenger.
I contacted Yahoo, but was give this info:
"As of November 15, 2011 Yahoo! Customer Care will no longer provide agent support for Yahoo! Messenger for Mac. If you continue to use this product and have questions or concerns about it, please use the self-service help pages".
This is a brand new computer (and my very first Mac) and Yahoo Messenger was the very first program I installed. Despite the annoyance upon restart I can use both programs (iChat and Yahoo Messenger) together without problems.
I have tried removing all traces of the Yahoo Messenger program using "Appcleaner" and downloaded it again and reinstalled it from scratch, but to no avail.
I would really appreciate some help with this problem.

Ok so the Internal "Drive" on your Mac is a Solid State one ?
You say you put an Shortcut/Alias of it on the Desktop.
Was this by going to the Finder's Own Menu > Preferences > General section and ticking the Box to Show Hard Drives/Disks ?
If I "Open" (double Click) an .dmg to Install something I get an icon on the Desktop that looks like Drive icon (Similar to the USB stick ones) AND I get the item listed as a "Device" (in this case GoogleEarth)
I tend to Drag these to the trash when Finished with them as it "Unmounts"/"ejects" the item. (I used the quotes to show it is a similar action to removing a USB Drive - obviously a CD or DVD would also pop out of the Optical Drive)
Based on the way you describe using the Finder > Go Menu > Computer It get this view
As I Unmount mine I can't really say what happens if I shut the computer down.
As technically it is a Window (the OS sees icons on the Desktop as windows) then I can imagine Lion is Opening it up again if it was there at Shutdown. (See Message at Shutdown about restating open Windows on next boot and also the System Preferences > General Section).
I will try shutting down and will post after I have done that

If you downloaded the filezilla at the link provided by QuickTimeKirk then you may have downloaded filezilla for Windows.
Clicking on the more options link will bring you here https://filezilla-project.org/download.php?show_all=1 where you can select the Mac i686 (Intel) version not the power pc version, for download and installation.
Also make sure your gatekeeper is set to allow installation of applications from all sources.

Unable to download Yahoo Messenger Beta version and Adium

i've been having problem downloading yahoo messenger beta or even adium. can't seem to figure out why so I was hoping someone here would know if its connected to Safari.

Hmm, uninstalling it should have rectified things. Did you also try rebooting after running the uninstall process?
If you did, do you have anything in the following folders:
Hard drive > Users > Your Username > Library > InputManagers
Hard drive > Users > Your Username > Library > Application Support > SIMBL
Hard drive > Library > InputManagers
Hard drive > Library > Application Support > SIMBL
Those folders may not exist, so it's not a problem if you can't find them. If you do find them, drag the contents of those folders onto your Desktop, completely quit Safari (Safari menu > Quit) and then relaunch Safari and try another download.

E75 - Unable to install Nokia Messenging

Pls note that this is a totally new phone with only the following customised:
- themes
- contact list synchronized with Ms Outlook with Data Cable
- configured a POP corporate email account programmed to connect every 5 mins (not via Nokia Messenging)
just tried to install Nokia Messenging software downloaded from email.nokia.com but encounter the following error while installing, here is the process:
- Sign up at Nokia Messenging Portal
- Register and signed in
- Key in phone number and retried a few times but never gotten any system sms to download software.
- do a manual download by connecting phone's web browser to email.nokia.com (as per instructed on the portal if the above fails)
- Nokia Messenging successfully downloaded using Phone
- Choose Language
- Choose Install
- ERROR
"Nokia Email
An incompatible version of this product is detected, and has to be uninstalled first"
and i cant continue from here.
Puzzles me as i've not installed any other programmes, its still fresh from the factory with the standard pack of pre-installeds', any advice? appreciate heaps

How to restore bookmarks after installing Yahoo Messenger deleted them?

Tried to import from Mozilla program files, gonna uninstall messenger see if that makes a difference...

Best is to first find and undelete the previous profile folder and then undelete the bookmarkbackups folder in it with the JSON backups (bookmarks-####-##-##.json)
If you can recover an uncorrupted JSON back then you can use it to restore the bookmarks.

Yahoo Messenger - Service Not Enabled on this Handheld

I just installed Yahoo Messenger and get this error when I try to sign on.
Is there something I'm doing wrong? I have a BlackBerry Unlimited Internet and Texting package through ATT and I have the BB Curve.

AT&T doesn't allow yahoo messenger. There is a workaround, but I don't have a link to it. It is kind of involved, but doable. (Having said that . . . I didn't do it.) You should be able to find it through google or crackberry.com or even the RIM forums.
I just downloaded JiveTalk. $20 and it works like a charm across pretty much any messenger service I think. I know for sure it works on yahoo and ms live messengers.

First thing to try is a reset: Try a reset: hold down the home button along with the power button until you see the Apple, then let go.
If that doesn't work, you might try getting hold of Yahoo since it's their app that's causing the problem. Try searching on Google for others who've solved it.

Safari / yahoo messenger question

hi there,
i use yahoo mail for email, and since i installed yahoo messenger on my macbook (then didnt like it and took it away), the yahoo homepage always says that i have 3 new mails, even if i dont. anyone know why this might be. my yahoo widget also says i have three new mails, but when i open yahoo mail in safari, it says i have no unread messages.
i wish yahoo would get a move on and release their mail beta for mac as well!!!

Type on Google - Yahoo Go - now on version 2. See if your phone is already supported and install it. You have Messenger and all stuff from Yahoo, photos, mail, etc...

i have a new mbp. i've installed yahoo messenger. first time i used it, it was okay. webcam was good (using the built in isight). the next day, i cant use the webcam for YM. it always stops. why is that?

As I have a PC-using girlfriend halfway 'round the world that I called using Skype for audio and Yahoo for video, I was motivated to find a solution quickly until Skype adds video for Mac (hurry, Skype, hurry!).
Anyway, I have a free solution that turns out to be better than Yahoo anyway: SightSpeed. They've got video chat (w/video voicemail!) for PC and Mac, and the PC/Mac versions work together.

If this company can do Mac/PC video already, then I don't know why Skype isn't ready yet. It's got a pretty good user interface; but the audio's a little funky for me (sounds like 50's sci-fi sound effects in the background no matter how I tweak it or using headset), so I'm sticking with Skype for audio and SightSpeed for video.

Yahoo Messenger freezes

Started last week, no new Yahoo Messenger version, same OSX, no freezes after launch.
Was getting it to run by deleting preferences, but then it was now always solving it.
Resorted to re-installing Yahoo Messenger, and deleting preferences, which seemed to work.
Now even that is not working.
Any one else running into this progressive problem with that Yahoo app?
Didn't see any other postings here or on yahoo!

monitoring events before declaring victory
stable connections now, some postings on blogs implied a yahoo sign on server issue for messenger
so not a software issue
used the web version to sign on and since then the messenger has been working
