I bought  a new laptop running Windows 8.1 and when i tried to connect it to my Domain network, I found that Network ID button is disabled then i went to services.msc and check for workstation.... the service was already running. My Server runs on Windows

  • Unable to join domain when OD Master is set up as PDC

    Hi all,
I'm working on trying to get my OD server to authenticate our new windows vmware workstations. I have both LDAP and Kerberos set up, and everything works really well with my OS X clients, as do our Linux servers. However, I'm unable to get our windows clients authenticating. I can browse the "spidertracks" computer as well as the Samba shares, so the shares themselves are working. I'm simply unable to join our Windows 7 64Bit clients to the domain to authenticate with OD accounts. Here is what I have configured in the samba settings. Am I missing something? I've read the manual nearly 20 times, and joining the domain simply doesn't work, so I'm guessing I've missed a configuration somewhere when creating my Kerberos realm. Is there a command I can use to validate my samba settings are correctly running as a PDC?
    Thanks,
    Todd
    LDAP config dc=spidertracks,dc=local

    Bump:
Rather than starting a new thread,
I am fighting with the same thing on one of our servers, this is an issue that was fixed by the Samba guys, but I can't deploy their fix and still use OD.
I'm starting to think that our experiment using OSX instead of linux as a server may be at an end, I keep spending a lot of effort chasing down issues that are solved months ago on linux.
Somebody help, I dont want to be told to get rid of the shiny Mac ( or more likely bootcamp it to linux )

  • Satellite P100: XP Pro Media Centre - unable to join domain

Recently bought a P100 with XP Pro OS but I don't to be able to join the domain at work properly. Normally create a new account on the Server SBS 2003 then from the PC 'join domain'.
    Any clues?
    Peter

Thanks for that but I do find it difficult to see where the logic comes from. It is fairly safe to say that XP Media Centre should work OK as I understand it to be a complete version/implementation of XP Pro with a few whistles and bells on the AV front? XP Pro certainly allows a domain to be specified so why doesn't XP Media Centre?

    Hello,
WDS specific questions please ask in
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/home?forum=winserversetup
If I understand you correct you have 2 domains and the WDS is in the other domain that is trusted, which kind of trust? Or are they all in the same domain?
How is DNS configured in the domain(s)?
Please post an unedited ipconfig /all from the DC/DNS servers and also the DHCP scope settings you use for the WDS installation.

  • Px12-350r unable to re-join domain - what to do now?

    Hello everyone!
I hope you can give me some advice because at the moment I am in a really stupid situation, being probably locked out of my Iomega px12-350r.
    Here's what happened:
     * The device has been successfully joined to my Microsoft AD domain and has been running with this config for at least a year.
    * I expanded the storage array 2 days ago, adding 2 disks. Everything went fine and when the expansion completed, the new total disk space was displayed correctly in the admin web interface.
    * After that, I rebooted the device. After the reboot, I could not log in to the device any more using my domain account. This account has had admin rights on the NAS and I have logged into the NAS using this account before.
    * I did not change anything in the domain infrastructure.
    * I know that the device cannot join the domain anymore because I activated email notifications and it keeps sending me "Unable to join domain".
    I already tried:
    * Login using the usual local accounts: Does not seem to work once the device is joined to a domain.
    * Login via SSH. Does not work, probably for the same reason as above.
    I did NOT try yet:
    * The user manual mentions resetting the admin password by pushing the reset button on the back. But will this only reset config (I would be ok with that) or will it erase the data on the drives as well?
I am from Germany. Despite having purchased a 24x7 service plan, German support hotline will only redirect me to the American hotline who claim to do only desktop NAS, no px12's. I am kind of in the middle of nowhere now. ;-)
    Thanks for your help!
    Best Regards,
    Florian
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi qaware,
Just to clarify, are you talking about logging into the device's web interface or logging into your active directory client?
I would first recommend rebooting everything and restarting your client in case there are more than one sessions open.
What credentials are you using to log into SSH? User should be "root" and password is "soho + admin password". Make sure you are not using any special characters.
You could do a reset from the back of the device. This is not data destructive, but it will reset user and network settings so you will have to set the device up again, rejoin the domain and import the AD users and groups.
Are there any other admin users you could try logging in under?

  • Unable to join the client machine into domain in low banswidth 16kbps

I'm unable to join the client machine into domain which is in low bandwidth 16 kbps.but i can able join other machine into domain which is having
more bandwidth, please help me on this issue<o:p></o:p>

Depending on the version of your domain, you could try an offline join.

I would say that it depends on the client OS (Windows 7 or Windows 8) if offline domain join could be used or not, not that much regarding the level of the domain, you can always use the
/downlevel switch to target a DC running Windows Server 2003 for example.

  • OD Master/PDC, 10.4.11, why xp clients unable to locate domain controller?

After a migration/upgrade from 10.3.9 to 10.4.11 Server, windows XP clients are intermittently unable to log in to or even bind to the PDC running on that server.
I did a clean format and install from the 10.4 media, choosing the standalone server type, and applied all the Software Updates, I got forward and reverse DNS working for my zone, then I followed the instructions at http://www.afp548.com/article.php?story=20050615173039158 to move my OD from a working 10.3.9 server to 10.4.
This server goes against the usual recommendations, as it provides DNS, OD master, PDC and file services to 32 clients all in the same subnet, 20 running Windows XP SP2 and 12 running OS X Client 10.4.x or 10.5.x.
File services and various other users of the OD/LDAP, for example Wildfire Jabber/XMPP server and Apache2/LDAP running on a separate Linux server, are able to authenticate against the new 10.4.11 OD.
However, at this point the symptoms become intermittent approx. 40% of the Windows XP clients were unable to log in with various domain accounts, yielding errors of the form "Unable to find domain FOO". If I remove a client from the domain by joining it to WORKGROUP and rebooting, then try to join FOO again, I'll get an error, "Unable to locate Domain Controller for FOO..."
    The set-up:
    My server's FQDN is myserver.foo.example.com
The server's DNS is authoritative for the 10.10.10.0/24, foo.example.com zone and I have the trailing dot's in the right places, so ping myserver.foo.example.com, ping myserver, and ping 10.10.10.10 (server's example IP from the foo.example.com zone) all work correctly.
The DHCP server for this vlan is providing my DNS server to the clients, but is providing no netbios server. The XP clients are all set to use the DHCP server setting, which, according to the TCP/IP Advanced Settings panel, means that they'll revert to netbios over tcp/ip since no wins server is specified.
    In Server Admin->Windows->General:
    Role: Primary Domain Controller (PDC)
    Description: FOO Domain at example.com
    Computer Name: myserver
    Domain: FOO
    Server Admin->Windows->Access:
    Allow Guest Access: Check
    Client Connections: Unlimited
Authentication: NTLMv2 & Kerberos, NTLM, and LAN Manager: All check
    Logging->Log Detail: High
    Advanced->Code Page: Latin US
Services: Workgroup Master browser and Domain master browser: check
    WINS Registration: Off
Homes: Enable virtual share points: check
Should my Windows service on 10.4.11 be providing WINS or not? If so, should the DHCP server be set to point the clients to it? If not, how do the XP clients reliably resolve the FOO domain?
Why did all these XP clients work fine with a 10.3.9 Windows PDC but don't work with 10.4.11?
Another strange point - I can use the XP-side 'net view' command to poke around and things look reasonable. I.E. even the clients that aren't joined to the domain and can't locate the domain controller will return sane results for 'net view /domain:FOO'.

The new PDC does use the same domain name as the old PDC, and the SID mismatch is at least partially to blame. After I'd performed the upgrade and confused the windows clients, I saw the advice on using samba's net command to duplicate the old PDC's SID to the new PDC. Maybe someday I'll have the opportunity to try that.
I resorted to removing all the XP clients from the domain and re-joining them. The XP clients were still able to contact the domain intermittently. I used various command-line tools on the XP side, including the built-in net command as well as some others I downloaded such as the quite useful http://www.joeware.net/freetools/tools/findpdc/index.htm, as well as the client-side error messages during the domain join attempts and the messages in the Event log, to determine that the clients couldn't find the domain.
The XP client TCP/IP settings state that the clients will revert to using netbios if no WINS server is specified, but that clearly wasn't working reliably, so I just enabled the WINS server on the PDC, told the DHCP server to hand out its address for the netbios-related options for that subnet, rebooted the PDC, waited a while for things to settle out, and now all the clients can reliably find the PDC.
I still have no idea why the WINS-less set-up worked in 10.3 server but didn't work in 10.4 server, but believe me, I'll remember it now!

  • MDT TS not joining domain

    Hi,
I'm experiencing something weird. my MDT 2010 U1 TS doesn't join HP Compaq 6200 & ProBook 6460b to the domain when I deploy Win 7 x64. It works for x86.
I'm using drivers packages and my WinPE have all drivers (same version x86 and x64). I didn't enter my domain informations in the CS.ini, I only use the "Apply Network Settings step for the domain. It's configured correctly with the SCCM account to use to join

During the TS a I did F8 and it get a IP address and I'm able to ping the servers but why in the log I don't see an IP ? What do I need to fix this ?
And Why the netsetup.log file see WORKGROUP instead of the domain ?

    Hi,
Have been struggling with this is issue for months! Have only just this minute got it to work. Thought I would share how I got it to work, just in case other people may find it helpful.
We here use SCCM 2012 R2, and deploy images using SCCM Task Sequences. For months now we have not been able to get our HP Probook 6560b's to finish installing and join to the domain. The task sequence would finish and show a Windows 7 login screen for a
    local account.
Having tried a matter of many different ways it has worked using the driver, as mentioned above by Olivierdsm2 and MattGrimley.
First I downloaded the HP Driver pack for the Probook 6560b. I made them all into folders corresponding to Driver Category, Audio, Chipset, Network. Making sure any EXE's are unzipped to show raw INF form if applicable. I then made sure the Network driver
was removed and replaced with the one mentioned by Olivierdsm2 and MattGrimley. The Intel(R) 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection v11.15.16.0.
I created a new Virtual Machine on our Hyper-V server, with a clean Windows 7 image. I installed all software required for the image such as Office 2010, and then completed Windows updates. I then used Sysprep to generalize the image and make it OOBE. I
added the WinPE iso to the CD Tray in Hyper-V and as the VM shut down it booted into WinPE. I then used DiskPart to list the volumes, just so I could see which Drive letter corresponds to each partition, as I will need these details for next command lines.
I then exited Diskpart and entered into Image X to capture the WIM. I captured the WIM to local drive and then copied over to my computer where I used DISM to mount the WIM and then to apply the HP drivers from the folder location mentioned above. Making
sure to use the Recurse switch so it adds drivers from within the folders. It imported successfully and then commited the changes so the WIM was unmounted.
I then copied the WIM to my SCCM server and imported it to the Operating System Images section. making sure I distributed the content. I added the WIM to my Task Sequence and named it so it was specific to the Probook 6560b. I changed the task sequence by
deleting auto install or apply drivers, as these are now in the image itself. So I will only install this task sequence to Probook 6560b's.
Having done all the steps I then made the task sequence available to PXE and Media and ran the installation on the Probook laptop, and it actually FAILED!!
The network driver didn't actually install from DISM. Logged into Laptop and on Device Manager the network driver wasn't installed. I then installed the Network Driver "The Intel(R) 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection v11.15.16.0 " manually from the laptop
and it then installed ok. I followed the same steps above to Sysprep, and capture image with ImageX. Then once I added the image to SCCM and to the task sequence, I ran the installing again to the laptop and IT WORKED!!! The laptop came on, and it was joined
    to the domain!
I did this from Hyper-V as I read that this will create an image that doesn't have too many drivers from the reference image device. I don't know if this still would work capturing straight from the laptop itself, but when I did try this before I logged
in locally to check the driver version and it was always an up to date driver, which must be why it never worked before. I think our drivers and driver packages from SCCM must have the newer drivers as to why this didn't work from there. But I'm just happy
this now works and we can save time not having to do things manually.
Hopefully this may help anyone with similar issue who is in difficulty with this. Would never have got it to work if I hadn't come across this forum entry. Even if it is for MDT. Could not find any other site that helped with this issue.
    thanks,
    Don

  • Can there be a hardware issue on the iPad that causes you to unable to join wifi networks or only if you are within 5 feet of routers?

I used to be able to connect my iPad to my house wifi network walking all over my house then one day it stopped.  When i tried to connect to my network I would get an message saying "Unable to Join network".  I found that if i was within 5 feet of my router it would connect and work just fine.  At the same time I tried it at multiple other networks that I have before (girlfriends and other friends houses) and could not connect with same issue.  Only place I can connect is my work wifi.
Can connect to wifi with my iPhone with no issues
I have reset my network connections

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
Try This - Renew IP Address:
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • Unable to join network after 3.0.1

I "upgraded" my iPhone from 3.0 to 3.0.1 last thursday and since then have been unable to join any of my wireless networks. I've been able to join all of these networks via my laptop so I know it isn't the APs. I reset the network settings on the phone via Settings->General->Reset->Reset Network Settings. Still nothing.
Anyone else having this trouble? Any easy solution? Should I attempt to go back to 3.0?

It has nothing to do with 3.0.1, which was a minor change to the SMS app. You probably have corrupted data in the backup that was restored when you did the update. Thus, going back to 3.0 won't fix it. You need to fix it in 3.0.1. Try first forgetting your network in WiFi settings for it. Then reboot and try to connect again. If that doesn't fix the problem then do a Restore in iTunes and choose to set up as a new phone. Test before adding back any apps or email accounts.

  • Unable to join online games with 10.5.1, 2 or 3.

So, basically I have a problem as well as some of the other friends I have. The problem is that I'm rarely able to join certain users of the game that I play online on gameranger called " Age of Empires II." This problem hasn't bothered me until lately, because usually it's always me that hosts the game (which works fine by the way) However, when I jump over to a game room that I'm not hosting, I am able to join the actual Pre-game room, but then once the host presses "Start" I get the "Unable to Join game" message. And before you ask, IP joining does not work either. I have a few other friends with the exact same problem, same OS, same issue. I've been told that this has to do with the settings in my router, well, I don't have a router, just a modem. I've called my ISP and they have said that the modem is set (by default) to not block any connections going in or out. I have my firewall tab set to "allow all incoming connections" as well. I'll say right now that there are actually a few select hosts that I can join with, only a few, and when I talk to them, they say they have a 10.5 OS and I can join their game just fine. So if I figure out what they did to enable me to join them, then it should work the other way around. So my question is, what did those few hosts do to their computer to make it so I could join?

No firewall on, the firewall tab in my security pane is set to "allow all incoming connections" is there another firewall that I need to worry about?

  • Unable to join network after dropping my ipod in the water... anyone know a solution?

I put my ipod in the pocket in the back of my jeans and when i went to the washroom, it fell into the toilet... I immediatey took it and dried it with a hairdryer and then a few hours after.. it was able to reopen again, but im unable to join my network ever since then...
    Anyone can help me? Thanks.

Does it see any networks?  If wifi is dim or grayed out see:
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
However, it is frequently a hardware problem.
    If can se networks, try:
    - Resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Powering off and then back on the router
    - Resetting network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reet Network Settingds
